We are seeking Event Doctors to respond and manage emergency calls/incidents at events which may include venues such as stadia, concert halls, motorsports tracks, road races etc. Event doctors shall provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care while undertaking clinical assessment and interventions in the pre-hospital environment. This will mainly involve working in mobile treatment centres or temporary event medical centres.

 Successful candidates will be registered registered medical practitioners with the GMC, without cautions or restrictions, and hold a licence to practice outside of an approved practice setting.

Interviews will be conducted at District/County level as required.

The Finance Trustee will participate in all areas of our governance but take a special interest in the financial  strategy and governance. They will use their sound financial skills and experience to support the Board’s understanding and interpretation and to ensure legislative compliance.  Knowledge of UK wide midwifery provision would also be an advantage but not essential.

The Finance Trustee will support the Board to oversee the financial matters of the charity in line with good practice, the Articles of Association and legal requirements, The Finance Trustee will ensure that effective financial measures, controls and procedures are put in place and are appropriate for the charity.

The Finance Trustee should adhere to the role description of a trustee and in addition has the following key responsibilities:

• To support the Board to oversee and to ensure appropriate presentation of budgets, accounts, management accounts and financial statements.

• To ensure appropriate presentation of accounts and records, ensuring that financial resources are spent in accordance with the charity’s policies, good governance, legal and regulatory requirements.

• Liaising, where applicable, with the Chair or other appropriate members of staff and supporting on financial matters

• Supporting the Board to monitor the financial viability of the charity.

• Creating in conjunction with relevant trustees and staff sound financial processes and procedures for the control of the charity’s assets.

• Advising on the financial implications of the charity’s strategic plan.

• Reviewing the annual accounts are, where applicable, liaising with the charity’s external bookkeeper to ensure the accounts are compliant with the current charities’ SORP.

• Ensuring that sound financial management is maintained and ensuring expenditure is in line with the charity’s objects.

• Authorisation of charity expenditure and banking transactions set up on online bank accounts

• Liaison with the fund manager responsible for the charity’s investment portfolio - we are currently working towards an ethical investment portfolio and the Finance Trustee is leading on this

• Oversight of payroll, HMRC reporting and operation of auto-enrolment pension scheme for all members of staff

• The Finance Trustee will need to attend the following meetings (all meetings with the exception of the October AGM/Board meeting are held online)

  2 Board meetings (March and October - which is the AGM/Board meeting)

  1 business meeting held in the summer 

  3 Finance sub committee meetings held approximately 10 days before the Board/Business meetings

  The Finance Trustee also sits on the newly established Fundraising Sub Committee (meeting schedule to be agreed).

Essential

• You must have a Bachelor’s degree and be either ACA or ACCA qualified or equivalent with 10 years PQE UK experience.

• Expertise in Finance and relevant UK regulations

• Personal Integrity

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Convey ideas, information and opinions clearly and concisely 

• Work as a team with the chair, fellow board members and members of staff 

• Challenge the views of others appropriately

•  Commitment and ability to work and effectively as a member of a team.

• Experience working at board level with small non-profit organisations.

Are you green-fingered and have time to help nurture wildflowers for the community?

The Wetland Wildflower Project aims to grow and distribute meadow plants of local provenance to enhance the wildflower diversity of local community projects, as well as the grounds and reserve areas at WWT Slimbridge.  We will grow these plants in a recently refurbished polytunnel at Slimbridge.

Floodplain meadows are not only beautiful, but these rare, species-rich plant communities are part of the heritage of the Severn Vale.  Floodplain meadows can store more carbon than woodlands, are incredibly biodiverse and can help mitigate flooding. Unfortunately, today just over 1000ha remain in England and Wales.

To help our efforts to restore floodplain meadows and other wet grasslands in the Severn Vale, we are looking for volunteers to assist with growing wildflower plug plants in our polytunnel.

This is a great role for those who will enjoy this hands-on work behind the scenes, whilst playing a role in saving wetlands for wildlife and people.  

Tasks will include:

• Receiving simple training on the methods and essential health & safety
• Caring for plug plants e.g. weeding, hand watering, potting on plants for sale in shop and watering and replacing these, as required
• Seed collecting  and looking for pests and diseases
• Preparing plants for orders
• Ensuring optimal growing conditions in the polytunnel e.g. raising /lowering sides of tunnel, adapting automatic watering regime
• Some general maintenance, as needed, including moving trays and keeping work areas clean and safe
• Updating records, e.g. of any problems/loss of plants/transfer of plants
• Planting out plugs, as and when required 
• Supporting attendance at plant sales and fairs, as agreed

By providing an excellent visitor experience as a member of the Welcome and Information Team, you will be encouraging our visitors to make the most of their visit to Martin Mere centre, and to understand and support our work to save wetlands for wildlife and people. The role will include:

• Acting as the first point of contact for all visitors to Martin Mere, providing them with a warm welcome along with appropriate information to aid their visit.
• Conducting specific talks to the public – scripts and training are provided.
• Conducting activities such as opening the moth traps and using props to actively engage with visitors
• Conducting guided walks of the grounds and the reserve when required – training is provided.

Role Purpose: 

Responsible for the overall financial health and compliance of the organisation. Producing financial reports, developing strategies to support the charity objectives.  Guiding and advising Trustees in making sound business decisions in the long and short-term. 

Role Duties: 

• Monitor the financial operations with event director, such as payroll ifapplicable, invoicing, and other transactions.

• Monitoring and managing cashflow, forecasting, income and expenditure. 

• Oversee outside services for tax preparation, auditing, banking, investments, andother financial needs as necessary 

• Track the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas forpotential improvement 

• Seek out methods for minimising financial risk to the company

• Produce financial reports for Trustees 

• Provide insightful information and expectations to Trustees to aid in long-term andshort-term decision making 

• Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports as appropriate

• Present financial reports to Trustees and stakeholders as relevant and appropriate.

• Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be usedfor financial purposes 

• Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company

• Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation. 

Desired Skills & Qualifications: 

Experience in organisational accounting and finance. Over 5 years’ experience in a  similar professional or voluntary finance role; general management and/or leadership  skills and experience; understanding of data privacy standards; good communication  skills, both written and verbal; good understanding of business principles and practices;good attention to detail; organisational skills; good computer skills; integrity, honesty.

Communication & Location: Most communications will take place via zoom and occasionally in person in the north east of England. Desired location would be north east of England to meet with team easily if needed but not essential.
