What we ask of you?

In order to join us as a Community Engagement Volunteer, you must:

• Be 18 years of age or over.
• Be able to volunteer for at least 3 hours per month, for at least 3 months.
• Complete a 3-day workbook.
• Undertake a DBS check where required
• Be able to provide two satisfactory references.
• Have an active email address that you are comfortable using in order to engage with VS communications.

Expenses

• All Victim Support volunteers are entitled to out-of-pocket expenses incurred whilst volunteering, including travel and lunch.

Caring Friends is a partnership project between the Community Volunteering Team and The Unpaid Carers Team at Cardiff Council. This project is looking to recruit a team of volunteers who are passionate about providing friendship and support to Unpaid Carers across Cardiff. 

What we’re looking for: 

• Empathetic people who are passionate about providing support to Unpaid Carers; 

• An understanding about who an unpaid carer might be, or a willingness to learn; 

• People who are warm and friendly, and love building relationships with people; 

• People who love learning new things and are committed to finding out more about services that can help people who are unpaid carers; 

• Access to a phone or computer in order to undertake befriending activities; 

• Someone who is able to commit to a regular volunteering day (at least once a week); 

• An ambassador for Cardiff Council, through following relevant policies and procedures.

Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following:

• face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with fundraising events, attending supermarket collections and monitoring collection boxes.

• bringing new ideas! We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What can you expect to be doing?

· Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers

· Planning fundraising events and activities with your team

· Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events

· Keeping financial records from fundraising events

· Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our Fundraising Event Helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

What can you expect to be doing

● Help set up and/or man stalls at events

● Help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections

● Help at fundraising events such as Quiz nights, cake sales and dances

● Promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

You’ll meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers. By being the link between members of the public and Cats Protection, the money you collect will make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.  

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Orchards is at an exciting point of growth as we expand into new hubs with our support and housing provision. We are looking for new Trustees to strengthen the Board and help position us for sustainable growth in the coming years. We are particularly looking for Trustees with experience in the following areas:

- Safeguarding – a qualified social worker or safeguarding professional with experience of adult safeguarding. This Trustee will work alongside the Safeguarding Lead to ensure best practice and ongoing monitoring of safeguarding strategy within the organisation.

- Church leader or church network leader – an experienced church leader able to work across denominations. This Trustee will help us to develop our church partnerships and to bring local church perspective into the strategy and growth of the charity.

- Housing – an experienced housing professional with knowledge of social and Local Authority housing. This Trustee will help us work strategically with Local Authorities as we expand our housing provision and seek creative ways to provide move-on housing options for women.

Orchards Trustees serve the board with a passion to see women free from sexual exploitation, bringing their relevant career experience and skills and prayerfulness.

Global Education and Development is a youth organization dedicated to peace education and global citizenship. Our mission is to provide educational tools, activities, and training for children and young people (ages 3-18) as well as adults who support them. About us

FitzRoy is a pioneering national charity, providing a range of support to people who need support to enable them to live independent lives. Our vision is a society where people are treated as equals within inclusive communities and empowered to ensure their rights and aspirations are met.

About the role

As a Trustee, you will have the opportunity to influence our development, and with the other members of our Board, you will be responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity.

We are seeking two new trustees from communities currently under-represented on our board, specifically those with Black or Asian heritage and women. We value a range of mixed voices and aspire to a governance which reflects the diversity of our workforce and the people we support.

Trustee experience or experience in the charity or social care sector is not required, and training and mentorship will be available to those interested in developing their leadership skills through being a Trustee.

At this time, we are particularly interested in speaking to people with knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

• Clinical/health/mental health

• Fundraising

We encourage applications from those with a personal experience of learning disabilities, autism or mental health issues.

In return If you are able to commit your time and energy you will be rewarded by being part of a forward thinking charity dedicated to transforming lives of people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues. This is a voluntary role, with paid travel expenses requiring approximately one day per month of your time.

PLANNING

1. Help establish a programme of talks for September to May (excluding December) using speakers recommended by the RSPB. A list of speakers and where they are based is available online via the RSPB. List of speakers for the year ahead should be ready for the printing of a leaflet in late November. Seek approval from the Committee for the programme and seek their suggestions for future meetings. Some speakers may provide talks on Zoom as a preference and these may be booked for the winter months, to provide group members with different media.

2. Contact speakers to carry out talks who meet the following criteria: • Good public speaker • Strong photographic background • Has own laptop and projector or can use PowerPoint style presentation. • Lives within reasonable travelling distance • Whose fees and expenses are acceptable to the Committee.

3. Confirm in writing or by email the arrangements made and obtain mobile phone number to be used in emergencies. Explain car parking arrangements.

4. Notify the Treasurer of the fee to be paid.

5. Contact the speaker two weeks in advance of the meeting to make any last-minute arrangements. PREPARATION:

6. Book room at the venue.

7. Arrange and confirm dates and arrangements made with speakers.

8. Ensure that the equipment (namely sound system, laptop and projector), is working and to arrange maintenance / repairs when required.

9. Have available at all meetings at least one suitable DVD to be used in the unlikely event of a speaker failing to attend.

10. Provide the newsletter editor and WEB organiser with a brief write up of the talks with details of the subject and speaker.

RUNNING THE MEETING

1. Arrange chairs and tables
2. Set up the screen, projector table and any extension leads required.
3. Ensure that any cables across the floor are taped down to avoid trips.
4. Put out signs to say where the meeting is.
5. Adjust the heating / ventilation of room as necessary
6. Arrange for someone to dim the lights at the appropriate time.
7. Agree with the speaker an appropriate time for refreshments.
8. Introduce the speaker, giving brief details of background and experience.
9. Ensure that the second half of the meeting starts promptly.
10. At the end of the meeting give a vote of thanks to the speaker.

FOLLOWING THE MEETING

1. Obtain from the Treasurer a cheque for the speaker’s fee and give this to him / her at the end of the meeting.
2. Ensure that all furniture is tidied.
3. Check for any lost property.
4. Take equipment away from the room.
5. Check that lights and appliances have been switched off and the doors are closed.

NEWSLETTER and PROGRAMME Liaise with the newsletter editor re: deadlines for newsletter. The programme of events for the year ahead is printed in December.

This is a fantastic role to get involved locally and be at the forefront of solutions to help save nature in your community. It is an opportunity to try new things and use your skills to make a valuable contribution to the work of your RSPB Local Group. We are a friendly and supportive team, so you will get the chance to build new relationships and meet new faces.

You will be leading the group in developing a range of activities designed to encourage wide participation from the group membership and to attract new group members, as well as heading the committee comprising individuals which assist with the running of the group and the activities which we run. You will have the support of Area/Country offices, and HQ.

We need someone to lead a group of enthusiastic people who are passionate about supporting the RSPB and exploring local wildlife. The group runs a full programme of activities, from outdoor walks and indoor talks to fundraising events. As the group leader, you will primarily lead the group and oversee things. You will be part of a friendly and helpful committee that share the same vision of bringing people closer to nature. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to use your leadership skills to make a valuable contribution to the work of the RSPB.

Our groups are entirely volunteer run and led. They are in the front line of engagement with local people, with an extensive programme of walks, talks, day trips and indoor meetings for the group and members of the public. We're looking for people who are passionate about connecting people with nature and helping in the smooth running of the group. By becoming part of the group, you'll have the chance to use your existing skills (and learn new ones) to build the group and make it an ever more important aspect of local RSPB connections with people. The roles available will depend on the group and can include:

• Publicity and / or social media
• Website editor
• Helping with organising and running events

Being a community group, you'll also have the opportunity to make new friends, have fun, and know you are enthusing people about the joys of nature. All you need is a willingness and ability to help with one or more of the varied activities of our RSPB groups, and able to give a minimum of a few hours each month.
