Job description

Social Friday

Social Friday reinvents the end of the workweek by transforming unproductive Friday hours into a global tradition of purpose, teamwork, and impact—connecting businesses, nonprofits, and communities through hands-on engagement.

Fridays are the least productive time of the week. Work slows down, focus fades, and hours are lost. The numbers are staggering:

  • Unproductive Friday hours cost the U.S. economy $1.9 trillion annually.
  • 1 in 4 people worldwide feel lonely, struggling to reach their full potential.
  • The U.S. Surgeon General calls loneliness an epidemic, costing employers $154 billion yearly.
  • Remote and hybrid work has widened the gap, leaving employees more disconnected than ever.
  • Societal tensions are rising, creating an urgent need for initiatives that bring people together.

Governments debate the four-day workweek—but what if, instead of subtracting a day from work, we added purpose to Fridays?

We face a choice: -Accept the status quo and keep losing trillions. +Or flip the script, turning Fridays into a force for good.

Social Friday isn’t just a project—it’s a movement. A global tradition in the making that transforms the least productive hours of the week into moments of connection, impact, and purpose, where doing good becomes a habit.

Beyond one-time events, Social Friday is designed to scale into a lasting global movement, embedding social impact into work culture and everyday life.

How It Works A scalable platform connects businesses, NGOs, and volunteers, transforming Fridays into a global force for change through engagement, collaboration, and gamification.

By integrating leaderboards, challenges, badges, and rewards, Social Friday keeps participation exciting and fosters a culture where social impact becomes part of the routine.

Student Community Lead – Social Friday for Students

Volunteer Role Description (remote, unpaid)

BELIEVE STUDENTS ARE THE CATALYST FOR CHANGE? SO DO WE.

If you're the kind of person who believes that real change starts with everyday actions—and that students have the energy, creativity, and drive to lead it—then you’re exactly who we want on board. This isn’t just another leadership opportunity. It’s a chance to turn the least productive time of the week—Friday afternoon—into something meaningful. To help students, and spark something bigger, by making doing good a habit and a lifestyle—not just a one-off.

Fridays don’t have to be forgotten hours. At Social Friday, we’re reinventing them as moments of purpose, connection, and impact—and we’re looking for someone to help us make that vision real in student communities around the world.

ABOUT THE MISSION Social Friday flips the script on how we spend our time. In a world that often feels disconnected, we believe in transforming Friday afternoons into time spent doing something that matters—together. Whether it’s volunteering, spreading kindness, or organizing small acts of good, we want students to lead the way in proving that impact starts with intention.

As the Student Community Lead, you’ll be the spark. You’ll help build this initiative from the ground up—connecting students, supporting them, and showcasing the power of collective action.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead the outreach to schools, student groups, and organizations worldwide
  • Motivate and guide students to organize their own Social Friday activities
  • Build an engaged community that shares ideas, actions, and inspiration
  • Collect stories and content that show the ripple effect of student-led impact
  • Help shape the voice and spirit of Social Friday for Students

WHO YOU ARE

  • A student or young changemaker who cares deeply about community and connection
  • A natural communicator with great energy and a proactive mindset
  • Someone who loves taking initiative and turning ideas into action
  • Creative and confident using social media to engage and inspire others
  • Passionate about making volunteering cool, accessible, and a habit not a task

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN

  • A leading role in shaping a global student movement from the ground up
  • Experience in community building, leadership, and social impact
  • A chance to work alongside a purpose-driven team who believes in doing good differently
  • Real ownership of a project that’s making Fridays matter again

LET’S DO THIS. If you’re ready to build something meaningful, challenge the norms, and help students around the world become catalysts for change—this is your moment. Let’s make doing good a lifestyle.

Let’s reinvent Fridays. Together.

Weekly Time Commitment

7-9 hours per week

Duration of Volunteer Role (remote)

1-2 weeks
