As a new startup youth charity in London, we need the guidance, help and support from a volunteer with UK accounting or financial experience who is driven, proactive, solution focused and able to help provide governance and strategic direction, as well as financial mangement and controls to our brand new youth charity as our Treasurer on our Board of Trustees. We are seeking a Treasurer to dedicate a few hours each month to be a guiding force and exemplary leader at REMIX.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setup and maintain accurate financial records and financial mangement systems, and prepare monthly financial statements and financial documents.
• Assist in budget preparation and financial planning with the whole Board of Trustees.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards set out by law and legislation, following good practice standards set out by the Charity Commission and HMRC.
• Support fundraising initiatives and manage financial transactions, including being a key signatory on our bank account.
• Other duties and responsibilities required by a Treasurer of a small charity.

Key Responsibilities:

• To provide leadership, guidance and to drive the set up of REMIX through its startup phase and into its operating phase, ensuring REMIX is run effectively and efficently.
• To contribute to the development of our strategic goals and objectives.
• To monitor our performance and ensure financial stability, including writing grants and leading on fundraising activities to generate much needed income for REMIX.
• To recruit, coach, lead and drive a team of volunteers who are the beating heart of REMIX and help ensure we achieve our goals and aspirations.
• Act as an ambassador for REMIX, advocating for our cause and values.
• Other duties required of a CEO of a small startup youth charity.

We're looking for a volunteer to fill the role of HR Manager, who can support our brand new small charity make a big difference by leading on setting up of our volunteering programme, including the recruitment, selection, induction and training of volunteers at SUNSHINE, ensuring we are an amazing charity to volunteer for that really values our volunteers and creates an amazing organisational culture and team spirit, creating a close knit team of dedicated, passionate and committed positive role models.

You will then move on to building the HR department and team and preparing us to become an employer with all the needed HR policies, systems and procedures needed to run a small charity.

You will be responsible for;

• The first point of contact with potential volunteers, including sending out volunteer application packs and responding to application enquiries.
• Evaluate applications, conduct interviews, and analyse candidates’ skills and match them with suitable volunteer positions within SUNSHINE and also perform background checks and review references.
• To collaborate with managers and wider team to identify which departments need volunteers.
• To establish the necessary volunteer numbers and skills, ensuring a smooth coordination between volunteer activities and other roles within SUNSHINE.
• To maintain accurate records of volunteers’ activities and contributions.
• To retain volunteers, creating a positive experience, recognising their efforts, and addressing any concerns they may have.
• To handle administrative tasks related to volunteer scheduling, training, and reporting.
• To ensure that volunteers receive proper orientation, induction and training and that volunteers understand their responsibilities. 
• To coordinate volunteer activities, monitor progress, and address any logistical issues.

We're looking for a volunteer to fill the role of Trustee and as our Treasurer/Accountant sitting on the Board of Trustees at SUNSHINE. As our Treasurer/Accountant, you’ll lead on the financial management and controls of SUNSHINE, including creating financial systems, processes and policies, lead on banking related matters and register SUNSHINE with HMRC for both Gift-Aid and also PAYE.

​You MUST have UK finance experience and an accounting qualification.

You will also act as a Trustee at SUNSHINE, supporting the work of the Board of Trustees, especially at the set up phase and charity registration process.

You will work with fellow Trustees to;

• Lead and participate in quarterly Trustee Meetings and actively take part in discussions and decisions that benefit SUNSHINE and supporting its impact in the community.
• Provide strategic guidance and direction to the organisation.
• Lead on all financial management and controls at SUNSHINE and Report on the financial aspects of the charity and answer questions at board meetings.
• Register SUNSHINE with the Charity Commission and complete Annual Reports and Audits.
• Register SUNSHINE with HMRC for Gift Aid and lead on the management of this.
• Lead on the creation of a Business Plan and a SUNSHINE 3 year Strategy with other Trustees.
• Lead on and contribute to the development and implementation of organisational policies and procedures with other Trustees.
• Lead on fundraising activities that generate much needed income, including grant writing with other Trustees.
• Support and advise the CEO, ensuring a good working and professional relationship.
• Manage relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community members.
• Ensure that SUNSHINE has the much needed resources and support it needs to carry out its much needed community work.
• Other Trustee duties relevant for a start-up charity.

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

We believe that no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, should be isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our experts offer support that’s tailored to the individual needs of each person, whether that’s at our centres, through our holidays and short breaks, or in people’s own homes. In addition to practical support, we also provide information to families, and campaign for the rights of people with complex disabilities to take part in life.

Purpose of the role.

Bike Buddies provide support and motivation to help people to participate in outdoor cycling. Volunteers support cyclists to achieve their fitness goals and enjoy cycling in our community.

Our Bike Buddies are great ambassadors for cycling, sharing their expertise of local routes and giving others the confidence to get around by bike.

We have people from many different backgrounds wanting support with their cycling for many reasons.  

For example:

· Coming back to cycling after time off

· Disability or ill health

· Finding quiet roads and cycle paths around the neighbourhood

· Building up confidence on busy roads

· Sharing experiences of things like cycling at night or what clothes to wear

· Checking bikes together before a ride

If you feel confident cycling on the road or in a park with someone else, and are wanting to give back to others, this is the role for you.

What would I be doing?

You’ll need to find out what they want to do and where they want to go. Some people want to explore quiet streets locally or plan a longer journey. You may ride to the park or show them local routes – quiet ways, new cycle lanes and off-road paths are popular.

They may want to try out junctions or crossing busy roads – think about how to ride those safely. You may support a person at one of our pre-arranged Parkride cycle meetings and help them to develop the skills and confidence to cycle safely and independently.

What do I need?

This role will require:

· A roadworthy bike and riding equipment.

· Experience of regular cycling

· Some experience of cycle maintenance is ideal

·       A cycling competence session with parkride staff

· Friendly, calm, and patient

· A good listener & happy to chat

· Accepting of people who may be different to you

· Willing to learn and act within guidelines set out by Midland Mencap

· Good time management skills, reliability

· An enhanced DBS check will be required by all successful applicants.

When and where do you need me?

Either at organised events or 1-2-1 within your local area.

Ideally you can meet once or twice a month for approx. 2 hours.

We have parkride sessions running throughout the week including evenings and weekends.

Purpose of the role

Our fun activity groups give people with additional needs the chance to make friends, enjoy social time together and try out a variety of activities.  

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers for our friendly arts and crafts groups in Weoley Castle. You will be encouraging our citizens to take part and ensure everyone has a great time. You can also use your skills to deliver a creative session if you wish.

This is a great opportunity to volunteer in a friendly, person-centred team, providing fun activities for people with learning disabilities.

What would I be doing?

· Helping people to take part in various arts and crafts activities such as card making, model making, painting, and other creative groups

· Encouraging people to feel part of the group and take part in the activities.

· Helping to set up equipment and tidy away at the end of the session.

· Helping to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.

What do I need?

· An interest in helping people, being approachable and friendly

· Any creative skills or interests would be amazing, but not essential.

· Good communication skills

· Accepting of others who might be different to you

· The ability to work as part of a diverse team

· A willingness to learn and work within guidelines set out by Midland Mencap

· Honesty, integrity and trustworthy

· Good time management skills, reliability

· An enhanced DBS check will be required by all successful applicants.

Where and when do you need me?

· We produce a weekly timetable with activities each day

· Ideally you can attend once per week for 1-3 hours
