We’re looking for Support Group Volunteers over the age of 18 years old, based at New Life Family Church, 8 Church Street, Margate, Kent, CT9 1ST.
You’ll be volunteering 1 to 2 hours every other Tuesday 2pm to 4pm, with additional time for administration work.
As a support group volunteer, you will help with the running of the group. The role is designed to suit the needs of the group, and the skills of people offering support. If you enjoy getting to know your community, working with others and making a real difference then this is the role for you.
The volunteer will be

· Good at putting people at ease

Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust (MBHT) was established in 2004 as a registered charity in northwest Glasgow to save the Victorian Burgh Halls from demolition and bring the Halls back into community use. MBHT raised over £9 million to regenerate the building and it reopened in 2012 as a multipurpose space including an event venue, office spaces to let, a local heritage site including a museum and exhibition space and collection of artefacts as well as a lovely in-house café. MBHT continues to look for ways to engage and involve the local community to promote local culture, arts and heritage and highlight the excellent community facility of the historic Burgh Halls. The Burgh Halls mean more to us than just bricks and mortar - they are a source of identity, pride and belonging and rich in history of the area.
The Board of Trustees is now seeking someone to give guidance and oversight to its financial management. The position of Honorary Treasurer is a voluntary one and is likely to require a time input of 6-8 hours per month. The role would suit an accountant who has retired or is working part-time.
The Honorary Treasurer would be most welcome to join the board of Trustees and participate in the overall oversight of the Trust’s mission and operations, though that would not be an essential requirement of the role.
It is proposed that the Treasurer:
• Advise/chairs the Finance Committee
• Oversees financial reporting and advises on appropriate presentation
• Oversees (and where necessary, produces) budgets and budget forecasts
• Advises on and leads any review of financial procedures
• Liaises with professional advisors including for VAT and with the bookkeeper
• Is responsible for ensuring that the audit is undertaken and accounts are prepared at the appropriate time and in the format requited by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and that all financial reports and accounts are lodged with OSCR and Companies House at the required time
• The Treasurer will also work with the bookkeeper and other staff to ensure that appropriate processes and checks are in place to enable the agreed financial procedures to be fully adhered to.

Are you passionate about pre-loved clothing, and want to make a difference ?
At Tenovus Cancer Care we receive many donated goods and no matter how big or small, these help us raise funds to continue to provide essential care and support for cancer patients and their families, wherever and whenever they need us most. We’re looking for some creative and resourceful volunteers to help us market some of the amazing donated stock that we receive. From vintage clothes, vinyl and retro toys to furniture and antiques, by through increased digital selling platforms, you will be able to help us reach a much wider audience to raise funds, to keep our services going. And with your help, we’ll be able to list even more items for the right price and support even more people affected by cancer when and where they need us most.
What will I be doing?
Writing descriptions about stock and listing items on our online selling sites[SB1] [SB2] by working from photographs
Researching items online to ensure the optimum listing
Enhancing photos using Ebay image tools and maximising listing impact
Writing optimised listings and all relevant product attributes
Supporting with the Online Trading Assistant and Retail Team.
What skills do I need?
Awareness and experience of using eBay or other online selling sites
Good computer skills such as using shared files and excellent attention to detail[SB3]
An enthusiasm for the work of Tenovus Cancer Care
Strong written and communication skills
No experience is needed as full training is provided
An interest in online selling and reuse / recycle
This role would suit a proactive and outgoing person who enjoys a variety of tasks and would like to be part of a growing team[SB4]
Real eye for detail and a good understanding of women's clothing and how to accurately describe it.
How much time do I need to commit?
Ideally, you’ll be able to commit to giving a minimum of 4 hours / half a day per week. This role is flexible and hours are available to fit around you – please note on your application how much time you can give.

We’re looking for six Community Connectors over the age of 18 years old, based in Norfolk & Suffolk.
You’ll be volunteering approximately six hours per month. Dates and times are to be agreed upon with the volunteer.
The volunteers could be:
· Providing valuable support to our teams based within the region.
· Build relationships with people, and organisations to raise awareness of stroke and the Stroke Association.
· Engaging with your local community to represent the Stroke Association, this could include the delivery of presentations or talks either face-to-face or digitally.
· Sharing your knowledge and experience of stroke with others.
· Researching and gathering information relating to life after stroke services.
· Supporting the process of volunteer recruitment and training.
· Attending fundraising events, including donation collections.
*Whilst we would be delighted if you could perform all of these tasks, we will be happy to accept inquiries from you if you can provide suitable selective support.

The Men in Sheds Project: Is a project specifically for men aged 50+. It provides a well equipped workshop space where men can work together on a range of practical activities. We currently have ‘sheds’ in Blidworth and Worksop. The project aims to:
- encourage men to be more socially active
- give members an outlet for their skills and the opportunity to learn new skills
- provide a break amongst friends for older men who are carers
- give retired men the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the local community
- provide access to information and other local services Members are encouraged to take ownership of their ’shed’.
What impact does this role have? This role helps combat social isolation for men over the age of 50.
What activities might you be involved in?
• To unlock the shed and get it ready for use, heating, check for unsafe items of machines etc.
• Supervising workshop sessions, alongside another volunteer.
• Collect or oversee the payment of subscriptions, ensure that members book in on the attendance register
• Assist members if needed with projects, lifting etc.
• Agree with members in advance on the price of projects that members make
• Take payment for items when finished, issue a receipt and record the sale
• Encourage work that could be done to members, orders, seasonal items etc.
• Meet and greet visitors, ensure they comply with all safety requirements and to sign in
• Meet and greet potential new members, show them around the shed and briefly describe the aims and function of the shed. Arrange a meeting with a shed leader for induction if interested. Ensure they comply with all safety requirements and to sign in
• (With one other Volunteer or member) Count and record subscriptions & tea fund at the end of the day and put away in the safe
• You will be supported by a staff member from the Men in Sheds Team
• To check that everything is switched off, the ‘Red Button’ is pressed and to lock up at the end of the day
• Reporting any concerns to the Shed leader
What are we looking for?
➢ Friendly personality and approachable manner
➢ Ability to use own initiative to work alone, or as part of a team
➢ Understanding of the workshop environment and/ or working with power tools
➢ Appreciation of the need to follow health and safety guidelines
o Ensure members follow the shed’s General Safety Rules
o Ensure that all members work in a safe manner
o Ensure machines are not used inappropriately
o Ensure members wear the correct PPE equipment as per the H&S notices,
o To wear PPE equipment yourself, if you don’t use PPE and injure yourself, you could be negligent, the shed will not accept any responsibility for your injury. This should also be pointed out to members
o Ensure there is no smoking in the shed, only in the outside designated smoking area
o Stop other members from carrying out unsafe practices or report it to a Shed Leader immediately
o Actively contribute to keeping the shed clean and tidy
➢ Expected levels of conduct include:
o Treat members and fellow volunteers in a friendly and supportive approachable manner
o Not use rude, offensive, threatening or abusive behaviour, language or gestures
o If anybody is deemed under the influence they will be asked to leave the shed and not to return until sober
o Report any incidents or breach of any of the above to the Shed Leader in confidence
o Report any complaints about the project / charity in line with Age UK Notts’ Compliments and Complaints procedure
➢ Be able to cover a session either weekly or to provide cover on an ‘as needed’ basis.
Ability to work sensitively and confidentially with men from a variety of backgrounds.
➢ Willingness to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
We are looking for volunteers who can regularly commit to at least one session per week.
- The Worksop Shed: Open Monday - Wednesday: 9am - 2pm and we are looking for volunteers on all days.
- The Blidworth Shed: Open Tuesday 9am - 2pm & Thursday 9am - 1pm and will soon be opening on a Wednesday (9am until 2pm), and we are looking for volunteers on a Wednesday and a Thursday.

As Unit Manager you will be responsible for the overall management of your St John Ambulance Youth unit. You will do this by leading weekly meetings, organising other youth development activities and actively participating in the recruitment, training and retention of the young people and volunteers in your unit. You will ensure that they have a positive and rewarding experience in St John Ambulance, by equipping them with the necessary skills to fulfil our vision; ‘Everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them. No one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.’
This role is ideal for someone who has some management experience and wants to enhance their skills while doing invaluable work. This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act.

Best Foot Forward provides a series of free, accessible, guided health walks around open spaces in Nottingham. Walks are designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle through exercise and social interaction. The walks offer the opportunity to improve health, make new friends, have fun and get to know your local environment. This volunteer role offers you the chance to make a difference to an older person's life, and ensure your volunteering experience is a fulfilling and positive one.
Tasks you may be involved with include the following:
- Giving a brief talk before the walk to make sure everyone is prepared, and welcoming new walkers
- Leading and managing walks, usually jointly with other walk leaders (including ‘back marking or middle marking’ as well as leading at the front.
- Making sure walks are welcoming, friendly, enjoyable and safe
- Trouble shooting and dealing with problems on walks, with the support of your scheme coordinator
- Providing information about other Age UK Notts services and other walks offered by the scheme, and basic information about how to keep active
- Making sure paperwork such as registration forms and registers are completed
Skills and interests required are:
- Friendly, welcoming and empowering with good communication skills
- Knowlegdeable about the basics of the benefits of walking and physical activity
- Reliable, punctual and well-organised
- Ability to volunteer independently but with guidance and support
- Confident at speaking in front of small groups and able to take control and be assertive when needed
- Able to provide basic paperwork punctually and accuate
We are looking for volunteers who have availability to support our walks across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire which are held every day except for a Thursday
We are looking for volunteers who can support a minimum of one walk per week, every week (time and days tbc)

What is the purpose of this role?
The Sutton in Ashfield Shop is part of the commercial / Income generation team.
This role is to support the work of the staff to maximise the income generated from the donations which provides the Charity with vital funds to run our services. The role involves volunteering both in the back shop behind the scenes and in the shop itself.
What impact does this role have?
This role helps the shop to run efficiently and effectively, and to sell products for Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, which in turn, generates funds to allow Age UK Notts to continue to run effective services for older people.
What activities might you be involved in?
Front of shop
- Engaging with our customers, in a friendly and welcoming way
- Ensuring customers experience excellent customer service
- Maintaining the look of the shop displays so that customers have a positive shopping experience
- Restocking shelves and rails as and when needed
- Maintaining a tidy clean and safe shopping / working environment
- Following appropriate till training, taking and processing payments from customers (including card payments).
- Signposting clients to our Connect Service
- Promoting Advantage Mobility products and services
- Accepting donations from supporters that visit the shop and encouraging those who are tax payers to sign up to Gift Aid in order to generate a further 25p in every £1 for the Charity.
Back Shop
- Accepting donations and ensuring that donations that have been Gift Aided are separated and clearly labelled with the correct Gift Aid number
- Sorting through donations to identify:
- items that can be sold in the shop,
- items that can be ragged or sold as scrap and
- items of higher value that need to be sold on elsewhere
- Labelling all saleable items with price tags and if appropriate Gift Aid numbers
- Steaming items of clothing and placing on appropriate hanger in preparation for sale
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
- Use of the internet to share shop stock on Social Media.
- Volunteering in line with the Charity’s policies and procedures and adhering to the Volunteer Code of Conduct
What are we looking for?
- A genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people
- An enjoyment of chatting with customers and offering good customer service
- An ability to get on well with others and to volunteer as part of a team
- A calm, sensitive, personable and positive approach
- A willingness to learn how to use the shop tills and to process card payments
- Ability to use and have access to the internet to share stock on social media.
When would you be needed to volunteer?
A minimum of either one morning or one afternoon. The shop is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm.
What training will you be given?
You will be given all the training you need to enable you to carry out your role which will include a thorough departmental induction at the shop.
