Volunteer Roles
Volunteer Retail Assistants East Dulwich
Are you enthusiastic and engaging? Do you love meeting new people? Are you interested in learning more about the charity sector, and passionate about making a real difference to people’s daily lives? If so, the Vision Foundation is waiting to hear from you.
We are looking for friendly and energetic volunteers to join our growing retail team. Based in our beautiful new boutique store in East Dulwich, you will play a significant role in providing high quality customer service. From welcoming and interacting with customers on the shop floor to checking out at the tills, you will create a positive and enjoyable shopping experience for our community.
You will also have the opportunity to experience work behind the scenes; sorting through donated items and ensuring the shop is suitably stocked. This is a great way to gain valuable retail experience and develop strong teamwork and communication skills.
You don’t need special skills or experience to volunteer; a positive attitude and a friendly approach to chatting with other people goes a long way. We welcome anyone who is interested in retail and sustainable fashion, passionate about sight loss and supporting a charity, wants to learn something new, or is keen to meet people.
Supporting us for as little as three hours a week would have a huge impact on our work, but if you can spare more time that would help us even more. Let us know what hours and days suit you!

GSTTKPA is going through an exciting period of change. As a result, we are seeking to recruit a new Chair to support our ambitious and innovative change programme, so we can continue to achieve the aims and objectives of the charity.
The Chair role provides leadership to the organisation and the Trustee board by ensuring that everyone remains focused on the delivery of the organisation’s charitable purposes in order to ensure that GSTTKPA moves forward and continues to benefit kidney patients in the future.
The Chair will also need to set the strategy for the charity for the next few years which is vital for ensuring that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, the new post holder must understand that all the Trustees have a collective responsibility. This means that the Chair and the other Trustees must always act as a group and not as individuals.
As a Trustee, the new Chair must have a commitment to equality; celebrate diversity and be responsive to the needs of different groups and individuals within GSTTKPA and the wider community. In return, the successful applicant will join a warm and friendly team that works collaboratively to support each other as well as our kidney patients.

Think Active is the Active Partnership for Coventry, Solihull, and Warwickshire. We are a charity. We are unique to Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire; that is, there is only one of us. We are one of 6 sub-regional partnerships within the West Midlands and one of 42 across England.
Active Partnerships are strategic organisations that recognise activity levels are affected by a complex range of influences and no single organisation or programme create sustainable change at scale.
We are concerned about the negative impact of a sedentary population. We believe in the power of sport and physical activity to transform lives and to keep people living well and we are committed to working collaboratively with partners to create the conditions for active people and places.
On 1 August 2021 Think Active began operating as a Charity, this meant exiting our previous long term hosted arrangements with a Local Authority. On 1 April 2022 we began a 5-year funded role as one of 130 Sport England System Partners required to respond to and deliver against 'Uniting the Movement'. This marked an exciting and challenging time for Think Active. Guided by our current #WeThinkActive strategy that we are committed to delivering and the confirmation of funding meant that we could build a team and an organisation that would continue to provide inclusive, equitable, excellent services to partners and stakeholders in the pursuit of achieving our vision of everyone in Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire to benefit from movement and to enjoy sport and physical activity in safe and thriving communities.
Our overarching goal is to address the issue of inactivity and inequality to realise our ambitious mission of using the power and potential of sport and physical activity to enable future generations to lead healthy and more prosperous lives. Achieving this requires a continuous evolution of our strategic and operational approach.
As a flexible, values and people driven organisation, we are committed to fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our organisation and eliminating unlawful discrimination. Our Diversity Inclusion Action Plan describes this commitment and outlines our focuses for 2024-25.
We believe that diversity not only enriches our organisation but also contributes to our success and the success of our partners.
By fostering equality in opportunity and by understanding, adapting to, and addressing local needs we can more effectively collaborate with partner organisations and businesses in Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire in adopting a similar approach and maximising the opportunity and our collective reach.
We recognise the pressing importance of environmental sustainability and climate consciousness in our business plan for 2024-25.
We understand that environmental factors play a significant role in shaping public health outcomes, and therefore, we are dedicated to integrating sustainable practices into our operations and initiatives. Our business plan prioritises strategies that minimise our ecological footprint, promote environmental stewardship, and contribute to climate resilience within the communities we serve. This includes initiatives such as reducing waste and single-use plastics in our events, considering eco-friendly venues and transportation options, and incorporating green spaces and nature-based activities into our programming.
Furthermore, we aim to raise awareness among our participants and stakeholders about the interconnectedness of physical and mental wellbeing and the environment, empowering them to adopt lifestyles that reduce their carbon footprint.
By embracing environmental sustainability and climate consciousness, we aim to foster healthier communities while contributing to the preservation of our planet for future generations.
We actively endorse and assist a collaborative, cross-sector way of working and by working closely with our partners and stakeholders, our collective aim is to establish and integrate a 'can-do' positive culture and widely accessible physical activity habit in our places.

We provide programmes to help stimulate learning in addition to having a social aspect that offers respite to isolation these young people face due to their unfortunate circumstances.

The young people we work with have missed so many experiences in school which we take for granted. The time you can offer to help fill in those missed periods is invaluable to their development. Your sessions will be fully supported by Bright Futures UK staff – from questions or queries, resources or materials or just to bounce an idea off the team, we’re here to help.
Volunteering with Bright Futures UK is something that can easily fit into your working day or a busy schedule with commitment starting from as little as 1 hour per week. We are so grateful for any support you might be able to provide, as are our young people.

We’re looking for people who have the skills and experience to guide the strategic direction of the whole organisation whilst supporting the executive team. If you have the vision, enthusiasm and communication skills needed to influence Board decisions, we want to hear from you.
Diversity makes us a stronger organisation, which is why we’re interested in who you are. Your lived experiences and your values are as important as your professional achievements.
To reflect our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we welcome applications from people from all backgrounds, and would particularly like to encourage applications from certain groups who are likely to be underrepresented in our organisation.
These include:
- people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds
- young people
- people who are disabled or neurodivergent
- people without academic qualification
- people who are LGBTQIA+
Each year, we review the areas of expertise we seek to add to our Board. This year, we are particularly looking to broaden the Trustee skill base by attracting, so far as possible, candidates who can additionally contribute in one or more of the following areas:
- experience in the hospitality, leisure, commercial or tourism sectors — particularly if you have helped shape or manage the organisation’s approach
- strategic property experience gained within a multi-site environment inclusive of historic, residential, commercial, industrial or land real estate
- strategic IT, cyber security and data protection experience
You don’t need to have all these attributes to apply. We welcome applications from candidates who have relevant work and life experiences and have the passion to make a difference with YHA.
To maintain the integrity and confidentiality of our shortlisting process, we kindly ask all candidates to remove any personal details that identify you, such as name and contact details, from your CV before submission. This ensures a fair and unbiased evaluation of all applications.
Application deadline: 9am on 19 July 2024
Please note the Trustee Recruitment Pack is also available in Welsh.
Enrich the lives of all, especially young people, by providing brilliant hostel stays and experiences that improve physical health & mental wellbeing.
