Description
Our small charity delivers awareness campaigns and a range of support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a debilitating chronic condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We are urgently looking for 2 experienced email marketing volunteers to join our communications team.
You will be a big link to our charity's clients who are vulnerable and isolated, to them learning more about events, our latest articles, fundraising events as well as ensuring they are aware of the services that we offer that be of help to them. You will also be helping us to raise awareness of this devastating chronic condition.
Even though we are a small organisation we have big ideas and having regular contact through emails and newsletters will show consistency and know they can rely on us to be there for them.
We would like the volunteer to help with:
- Email content: Develop our communication & marketing content calendar, write compelling regular email content, including calls for donations & support, that is relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates;
- Email content (membership): Create a regular email newsletter for our membership scheme
- Create a number of automated email series - for donors, members, fundraisers and more
- Newsletter strategy: Help us plan and articulate how we can use emails and newsletters to strengthen our organisation, motivate our supporters and communicate with our sponsors;
- Design and implement campaigns and promotional activity
What are you looking for in a volunteer?
We are looking for 2 volunteers who have:
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Good communicator
- Good computer skills and a willingness to be contacted via email and/or video chat
- Experience using email marketing software - specifically Mailchimp
- Marketing skills
- Experience of working on marketing strategies
- Ability to quickly understand the needs of our team, organisation and our services users (we are not expecting you to know about the condition we support)
- Can ask key questions to enable us to clarify requirements
- Understands the resource constraints of a small charity and is able to work with these
- Open to feedback
- A passion for marketing and email marketing
- Ability to work flexibly on your own or as part of a team with enthusiasm and commitment
- Ability to create email campaigns with little supervision (after initial support)

With your help we will expand our readership to ensure more people are aware of this condition, which will help those affected by it when they see a health professional.

Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY is now looking for a Finance Trustee to join the Board.
What will you be doing?
The Finance Trustee will play an important role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of CRY. As the charity continues on an upward trajectory post-Covid, this role will help steer CRY towards robust financial stability and growth. You will assist in providing insight and guidance to the Board on all financial matters.
This role is mainly home-based.

Time Commitment
· Attend 4 Board meetings a year.
· These are held in February, June, September, and November (typically in the 3rd week of the month depending on Trustee availability).
· 3 of the 4 meetings are held online, and 1 meeting is in central London. The main meeting is the Business Plan meeting in February in London (in-person attendance encouraged, travel expenses covered).
This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Training and induction is provided for all new Trustees.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a Finance Trustee who will bring a blend of strategic financial expertise, leadership, and a keen understanding of complex financial matters.
- Experienced financial professional: Finance background with experience in managing or being part of a finance team. No formal accountancy qualification needed, but must demonstrate financial management and strategic planning skills.
- Strategic financial thinker: Experience in high-level financial planning, budgeting, and decision-making to drive CRY’s growth and sustainability.
- Clear communicator: Ability to present complex financial information clearly and accessibly to the Board of Trustees.
- Understanding of charity finance: It would be desirable for the candidate to have experience of charity accounts and ensuring compliance with charity accounting standards.
In addition to a Finance Trustee, we are also interested in hearing from individuals with experience in IT, cyber security, organisational governance and risk. Please state in your covering letter if you are interested in exploring this further.

Your oversight in financial reporting, budgeting, and audit processes will ensure that CRY can continue to fund essential heart screening programs, advance medical research, and offer bereavement support to families. Your role will help sustain and expand CRY’s lifesaving initiatives, making a meaningful difference in preventing YSCD and improving heart health for young people.

Are you interested in volunteering in a role supported, supervise, and guided by experienced Integration Casework Coordinators to assist in providing telephone and/or face to face advice about welfare and housing rights to refugee clients, including assistance with filling forms, liaising with government agencies and council offices, drafting letters, among other assistance to newly granted refugees?
Would a varied role where you could help clients by researching housing options and updating client information on our casework database (and much more) enhance your skills and experiences to achieve your goals whilst making a difference? Would you like to be a part of a busy team, working with experience Integration Casework Coordinators to provide much needed advice and support to their caseload of clients? Do you live within Greater London and are able to commute to our head office in Stratford, London and can commit to at least 1 day (09:45 – 17:00) or two half days (09:45 – 13:00 or 14:00 – 17:00) volunteering per week on consistent days ideally for a minimum of 6 months in this role?
If yes, then this could be the perfect voluntary role for you within the Refugee Council.
You will be a part of our friendly and supportive Integration Advice team and will receive regular support and supervision from an Integration Casework Coordinator. As part of a comprehensive induction process, you will receive training on working with refugees and people seeking asylum, including an introduction to the asylum process and the legal framework, rights and entitlements, and on how to support people practically whilst volunteering as a Refugee Integration Advice Volunteer. Our bespoke training sessions have been developed and will be facilitate by our team of experienced Integration Casework Coordinators at the Refugee Council head office in Stratford, London, E15 1NS.
The training dates will be:
- Thursday 22nd August, from 10:00 – 17:00, Volunteer induction and Working with Clients part 1
- Wednesday 28th August, from 10:00 – 17:00, Our Private Rented Scheme project and Working with Clients part 2
- Wednesday 4th September, from 10:00 – 17:00, Database Training and IT Systems Training
- Thursday 3rd October, from 14:00 – 17:00, Homelessness Law
You will also receive support and information throughout your role and will have access to organisational training sessions that are accessible to staff and volunteers. We will also reimburse you with lunch and travel expenses, in line with our volunteer expenses policy. Please note that as this volunteering role will be based in the Refugee Council head office in Stratford, London, you must be commute to our postcode E15 1NS.

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £11 million a year to run our care services.
We are looking for volunteers to join us in t Solihull Town Centre Mell Square on 3rd August. You'll join our fundraising team, collecting donations from shoppers as well as assembling and disassembling the gazebo.

Retail & Furniture Assembly Volunteers - A New Volunteer Opportunity in Acorns Children's Hospice Superstore in Chelmsley Wood - opening in September
Acorns have a network of shops across the West Midlands that generate a substantial level of income to enable us to care for children and their families.
To help us to continue to provide the care that we do, we are looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers to join us in our Chelmsley Wood shop. Our shops are exciting and dynamic, with no two days being the same. From our walk-in customers, to receiving donations, and everything in between
Additionally, we are looking for empowered Furniture Assembly Volunteers. In this hands-on role, you will assist with constructing and dismantling flat-pack furniture, beds, and other large items. Don’t worry if you’re new to this—full training will be provided!
How much time will it take?
Our shops are open Monday to Saturday (some open on Sundays too), 9am to 5pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but ideally we’ll need you to volunteer for at least 3 hours per week.

What your role will involve
There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:
- Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience

- Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
- Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
- Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
- Processing sales and serving on the till
- Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
- Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
- Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
- Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills. Most importantly you’ll be supporting your local group to run activities that bring friendship and fun to your local MS Community.

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. They act as the first point of contact and they make sure all relevant information is circulated to other volunteers and members. And they play an important role in keeping our data and details up to date to comply with data protection legislation.
In this role you’ll develop your administration and organisation skills. Most importantly you’ll be help your local group run efficiently, so they can keep providing valuable services to our MS community.

We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.
You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the area the group to carry out this role.
