We have 250 local groups which play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS across the UK. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.

We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for our Brent group. As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct and support other group volunteers to make sure your group’s activities meet the needs of your local MS community. In this role you’ll be able to develop your leadership, management, communication, organisation and motivation skills. 

Time Commitment

We estimate this role will need around 5 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.

You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the Brent area to carry out this role.

Barnardo’s is committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference.

Children's Activity Support volunteers work accross a range of groups, from Children's Centre's with pre-school children and Short Breaks services for children with disabilities , to Mental Health Support Groups and Young Carers Groups.

We are looking for volunteers, who can be aged 11+ years, with a passion for making a difference in children’s lives, a fun and approachable attitude and an ability to engage young people in worthwhile and enjoyable activities.

Best Foot Forward provides a series of free, accessible, guided health walks around open spaces in Nottingham. Walks are designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle through exercise and social interaction. The walks offer the opportunity to improve health, make new friends, have fun and get to know your local environment. This volunteer role offers you the chance to make a difference to an older person's life, and ensure your volunteering experience is a fulfilling and positive one.

Tasks you may be involved with include the following:

• Giving a brief talk before the walk to make sure everyone is prepared, and welcoming new walkers
• Leading and managing walks, usually jointly with other walk leaders (including ‘back marking or middle marking’ as well as leading at the front.
• Making sure walks are welcoming, friendly, enjoyable and safe
• Trouble shooting and dealing with problems on walks, with the support of your scheme coordinator
• Providing information about other Age UK Notts services and other walks offered by the scheme, and basic information about how to keep active
• Making sure paperwork such as registration forms and registers are completed

Skills and interests required are:

• Friendly, welcoming and empowering with good communication skills
• Knowlegdeable about the basics of the benefits of walking and physical activity
• Reliable, punctual and well-organised
• Ability to volunteer independently but with guidance and support
• Confident at speaking in front of small groups and able to take control and be assertive when needed
• Able to provide basic paperwork punctually and accuate

We are looking for volunteers who have availability to support our walks across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire which are held every day except for a Thursday 

We are looking for volunteers who can support a minimum of one walk per week, every week (time and days tbc)

What is the purpose of this role?

The Sutton in Ashfield Shop is part of the commercial / Income generation team. 

This role is to support the work of the staff to maximise the income generated from the donations which provides the Charity with vital funds to run our services.  The role involves volunteering both in the back shop behind the scenes and in the shop itself.

What impact does this role have?

This role helps the shop to run efficiently and effectively, and to sell products for Age UK Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, which in turn, generates funds to allow Age UK Notts to continue to run effective services for older people.

What activities might you be involved in?

Front of shop

• Engaging with our customers, in a friendly and welcoming way
• Ensuring customers experience excellent customer service
• Maintaining the look of the shop displays so that customers have a positive shopping experience
• Restocking shelves and rails as and when needed
• Maintaining a tidy clean and safe shopping / working environment
• Following appropriate till training, taking and processing payments from customers (including card payments).
• Signposting clients to our Connect Service
• Promoting Advantage Mobility products and services

• Accepting donations from supporters that visit the shop and encouraging those who are tax payers to sign up to Gift Aid in order to generate a further 25p in every £1 for the Charity.

Back Shop

• Accepting donations and ensuring that donations that have been Gift Aided are separated and clearly labelled with the correct Gift Aid number
• Sorting through donations to identify:

• items that can be sold in the shop,
• items that can be ragged or sold as scrap and
• items of higher value that need to be sold on elsewhere

• Labelling all saleable items with price tags and if appropriate Gift Aid numbers
• Steaming items of clothing and placing on appropriate hanger in preparation for sale
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
• Use of the internet to share shop stock on Social Media.
• Volunteering in line with the Charity’s policies and procedures and adhering to the Volunteer Code of Conduct

• An ability to get on well with others and to volunteer as part of a team

When would you be needed to volunteer?

A minimum of either one morning or one afternoon.  The shop is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm.

You will be given all the training you need to enable you to carry out your role which will include a thorough departmental induction at the shop.

What is the purpose of this role?

The Sybil Levin Day Service is a specialist SPECAL-Led day service supporting people with dementia and their carers using the SPECAL method.

What activities might you be involved in?

• Assisting centre attendees to engage in activities.
• Serving meals and drinks.
• Helping to set up and clear away activities.
• Engaging in conversation with centre attendees.
• Volunteering in line with the Charity’s policies and procedures and adhering to the Volunteer Code of Conduct

What are we looking for?

• People with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of people with dementia.
• A friendly, sensitive and kind approach.
• Being comfortable in small groups or on a one to one basis.
• People with a commitment to using the SPECAL method at all times whilst at the centre.

When would you be needed to volunteer?

The centre is open from Monday to Friday and would like volunteers to commit to a morning or afternoon at least once a week as a minimum.

What training will you be given?

You will be given all the training you need to enable you to carry out your role.  This will include a thorough Charity induction and a departmental induction to provide further information about the role.  You will also be given access to our online training library to complete the training modules that are mandatory for your role.

You will receive SPECAL training prior to commencing your role.

We are seeking a new Chair of Trustees. As Chair of the North East Board you would become a Chair of Oasis Community Hub: South Grimsby, Oasis Community Hub: Henderson Avenue (Scunthorpe) and Oasis Community Hub: Fir Vale (Sheffield).

Founded in 1985, Oasis' vision is for community - a place where everyone is included, making a contribution and reaching their God-given potential. We have developed a unique and successful Community Hub model, which brings everyone together to ensure people’s needs are met holistically. Our experience shows that integrated models involving local people, schools, professionals, statutory agencies, churches and other charities are vital in transforming lives and communities.

The Community Hub concept has been replicated across England and in other countries worldwide. Our work in the UK includes running over 20 local Community Hub charities. We don’t just do things for people, we work alongside them with the aim of helping everyone reach their full potential.

As a Trustee you will have responsibility for:

The role of northern NGOs is up for debate. Share your insights as a trustee of Ace Africa UK, a small international development charity that has changed the lives of more than 2 million adults and children in Kenya and Tanzania since 2003.

Three independent charities (in Kenya,Tanzania and the UK) make up the Ace Africa family.  We share the same vision - to unlock the potential of the most vulnerable children and families in East Africa.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Volunteer for Community Events. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact by attending and facilitating community events for LGBTQIA+ Muslim groups in London. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting the Community Trustee in researching and planning events for the hub in London
• Communicate with members on our Discord channel to coordinate attendance and activities
• Liaising with speakers, performers, and workshop facilitators to ensure their needs are met and their contributions align with the goals and values of the community.
• Setting up and taking down meeting rooms including workshop materials, refreshments and other ops as required
• Engaging with attendees, volunteers, and stakeholders during events to ensure a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
• Recording attendance collect feedback and evaluate the success of each event, making recommendations for improvement.
• Assisting workshop leaders and Trustees in delivering activities
• Assisting with special projects and initiatives as directed by the Trustees

This role requires travel to/from the Leeds Hub location with travel reimbursement capped at £20.

How much commitment is required?

We are flexible around your schedule. However, the following commitments are in place for volunteers:

• Attend monthly meetings to update on tasks, progress etc.
• Aim to attend all other planning meetings as necessary
• Attend all Hidayah Hub events in your respective region
• Attend other Hidayah events where geographically possible
• Add to and maintain the administration of our file-sharing system ‘Google Drive’ to ensure it’s up to date with clear records, templates and forms
• Check and respond to emails in a timely manner
• Contribute to the communications group (via Discord) and stay up to date with Hidayah developments
• Keep up to date with Hidayah communication and organisational developments

We're currently recruiting for a small number of new Trustees who are passionate about tackling homelessness and want to support a well-established charity extend its impact.

What do we do?

Street Support Network connects local people and organisations in order to support those experiencing, and at risk of experiencing homelessness.

Our website is an online hub to find out about homelessness, see what support is available, and see what you can do to help.

In addition to hosting the website, we work extensively offline, connecting people to co-produce better solutions, facilitating conversations and co-ordinating action across the sector.

Who are we looking for?

We'd love to work with collaborators, preferably with experience of charity governance, working with or as part of the board of a not-for-profit organisation, or with public sector experience. We’d also be very keen to hear from people with lived experience of homelessness.

But please don’t let a lack of experience hold you back from applying. We know that skills and knowledge don’t always come from previous roles. Often, it’s less about what you have done, and more about what you can do. We’re looking for someone who fits in with our close-knit team and will help us operate and innovate.

Trustee Terms

If your application is successful, we see the first few months being a time where we can both get a feel for whether we’d like to make the position permanent.

Throughout this period our Chair will check in to discuss how things are going, receive feedback, and provide any support needed. Our meetings are usually monthly and take place online. We aim to meet face-to-face once or twice a year in Manchester. The role is voluntary but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Volunteer with us!

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, so most of the care that we provide is funded through fundraising and through our shops.

To help us to continue to provide the care that we do, we are looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers to join us in our Blackheath shop. Our shops are exciting and dynamic, with no two days being the same. From our walk-in customers, to receiving donations, and everything in between

As a Shop Volunteer with us, you will be:

• Engaging with customers
• Accepting and sorting donated stock
• Pricing donations for sale
• Working on the till

Our shops are open Monday to Saturday (some open on Sundays too) 9am to 5pm.  You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but it would be great if you could support in the shop for at least 3 hours a week.

Charity Trustee

Do you feel passionately about holistic healthcare for children? Could you shape
strategy and help us to achieve our mission?

The Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy is an established charity that aims to teach, research and
provide the highest possible standards of osteopathic treatment for babies and children up to 18
years, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Established in 1991, the organisation is now at a key point
in its development and seeks new Trustees to help forge ahead.

As a member of the Board of Trustees you will be responsible for the overall direction, vision and
strategy of the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy and its clinical arm, the Osteopathic Centre for
Children. We are looking for candidates who can bring ideas, experience and good judgement to help
set our objectives, as well as an ability and enthusiasm to help the organisation take on future
challenges.

We are looking to appoint individuals who share our values and would like to involve themselves in
the organisation, playing a key role in our successes.

We would particularly like to hear from:
· People with skills or experience in law and charity governance
· People with experience in income generation, business development, fundraising and marketing

Renumeration & Time Commitment
This role is voluntary and unpaid but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. The Board of Trustees

telephone – will be necessary.
