We are setting up a poetry group here at Birch Lane and are looking for a volunteer to help facilitate the group. Your volunteer role will include promoting the group to residents and encouraging attendance. Helping to set up the room for the session including moving tables and chairs if necessary. Set up any equipment for the group, searching poetry websites and printing out copies of the poem, and connecting to speakers to play audiobooks, being comfortable with IT equipment and navigating the internet would be a plus for this role. You will also make refreshments and tidy away at the end of the session.

During the session you will read the poems to the group and start the discussion afterwards with a couple of questions prepared to get people talking. You will need to be comfortable reading aloud to a group of people and as a poetry group facilitator you will be skilled in steering the discussion and keeping the conversation on topic and flowing. You will have a love of poetry and an interest in sharing this with group members. The group will run collaboratively and you will choose the poems for the sessions together, and encourage group members to read the poems aloud if they feel comfortable to do so.

Volunteer Duties:

· Promote the poetry group to residents.

· Choose poems for the group in collaboration with residents.

· Read the poems aloud to the group and lead the discussion afterwards, with a couple of discussion starter questions prepared.

· Be comfortable using IT equipment including searching website, navigating apps, printing, and connecting to speakers.

· Set up equipment for the session, and move tables and chairs if necessary.

· Prepare refreshments for the group.

· Display a friendly demeanour whilst respecting Creative Support policies on boundaries and Safeguarding.

· Report any concerns to Creative Support staff members

· Attend regular supervisions and undertake all training provided.

Job responsibilities

Statutory duties of SJAC trustees

• Ensuring the organisation pursues our stated objects (purposes), as defined in our governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy.
• Ensuring the organisation complies with our governing document (i.e. our trust deed, constitution or memorandum and articles of association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

• Safeguarding the good name and values of our organisation.

Commitment

• Preparing for and attending quarterly in person meetings of the Board each year (currently full days during working hours).
• Attending St John Ambulance Cymru' s AGM (which usually precedes the June Board meeting).
• Being a member of, and actively participating in, at least one (usually more) of the Boards Standing Committees Audit, Risk & Governance, People, Financial Resource, Fundraising & Engagement, Digital & Data, Priory Honours & Awards which all meet at least quarterly. The world's first bricks-and-mortar museum dedicated to vaginas, vulvas and the gynaecological anatomy are recruiting a Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees.

The Role

In this volunteer role, you'll be responsible for assisting with fundraising activities and managing grants to ensure the financial stability of the organisation. Climate Emergency UK’s free, online, 4-week Local Climate Training Programme is the place to start!

Councils have the power and influence over around 30% of emissions in their local area. Therefore, they are uniquely placed to make a real impact on emissions within their area. Following the success of the first-ever Council Climate Action Scorecards last year, Climate Emergency UK is looking to create the second edition of the Action Scorecards. But we know that councils can be taking more effective action as the average score in the 2023 Action Scorecards was only 32%. Now, we’re looking for volunteers to help us create the 2025 Council Climate Action Scorecards, tracking the progress that has been made, and scoring all UK councils on their climate action.

Cohort 2 - Late September-October 2024

Our workshops, alongside the practical experience of assessing local climate action, are designed to help you develop your knowledge, skills and experience around local climate policy and action. Your assessments will help create the 2025 Council Climate Action Scorecards - helping your community and other people around the UK understand how well councils are tackling the climate crisis, the progress that has been made, who’s doing well and what is possible. During the programme you will be part of a cohort of people (maximum 50) who share your passion for environmental justice and local action.

The Training Programme will help you understand:

• The powers local authorities have to tackle the climate crisis.
• The actions local authorities are taking to tackle the climate crisis.
• What good council climate action looks like. 

We will also have workshops from educational, policy and campaigning experts to give you a strong foundation in local climate action. Last year this included speakers from the Climate Change Committee, Lancaster City Council and Friends of the Earth. Those on the training programme will be able to manage their time but must be able to make the mandatory dates, listed below. Both cohorts will be 4 weeks and have the exact same programme of events. While these will be part of the training it will be up to you to make the session, although some of these sessions will be recorded. A full schedule will be sent out 1 week before the training starts.

Programme Dates

We are running two cohorts of the training programme: The First Cohort is deadline has passed. The Second Cohort will run from late 17th September to 22nd October 2024.

You will need to be free for the following mandatory dates:

• Scorecards Volunteer Inductions: You will need to attend one induction session on either Tuesday 17th or Thursday 19th September 2024 from 5:30 to 6:30pm. 
• Scorecards Scoring Training: You will only need to attend only one of the training sessions but please keep both of the evenings free until you are allocated a Scorecards section, which will determine which session you need to attend: either Tuesday 24th or Thursday 26th September. You will need to be available from 5:30-7pm.
• Policy Programme Course sessions will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1st - 22nd October for about 1 hour 30 minutes between 4-7pm (times vary a tiny bit each week)
• Final Handover & Certificate Ceremony Tuesday 22nd October, 5:30-6:30pm

The Second Cohort will run from late September to mid-October 2024. If you are interested in joining the second cohort you can already do so. 

Who is this Programme for? In order to apply you must be:

• Aged over 18
• Able to commit to approx. 15-20 hours a week for four weeks
• Based anywhere in the UK
• Have reliable internet access and access to a computer
• You do not need to have previous environmental related experience or a relevant degree. 

Note: We will not accept current Councillors or Officers. Parish/Town councillors or staff are welcome to apply.

Other than that, anyone can apply to be on this programme. We are particularly looking for people who:

• Are passionate about tackling climate change and sustainability
• Have an interest in supporting climate action in their local communities
• Are interested in a career in environmental policy or advocacy (or just enjoy this as a hobby!)
• Able to use Google Docs and SLACK. Although you will receive training in both. 

Each cohort will be limited to 50 places and we expect to fill the programme. Your acceptance onto the programme will be confirmed once you have attended the Group Interview.

Trustee and Chair of the Development Committee

We are seeking a new trustee who would look to take on the Chair of our Development Committee when the current Chair retires in April 2025. You will be someone who has experience as a senior fundraising volunteer or who is well networked and happy to connect us with your contacts and make asks on behalf of Reprieve. We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, volunteers, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Join us today so that together we can stop MS.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team. As a volunteer you will play a crucial part in helping us deliver our EDI work. By attending four monthly meetings you will provide advice, feedback, guidance and personal opinion on our work. You will act as a bridge between our EDI activity group and our EDI reference group.

The EDI reference group is a group of people affected by MS who helped develop our EDI strategy and now help support our work towards its delivery. The EDI activity group is a staff group who have responsibility and accountability for the delivery of our EDI strategy.

About Cruse

Cruse is Britain’s oldest and largest bereavement charity. In the Midlands, Cruse brings together more than 500 volunteers to helped support bereaved people, through a mix of individual and group sessions.

Cruse volunteers all pass through the same training process. Some volunteers are trained or trainee counsellors, whilst others have bereavement experience or put their listening skills to practice in helping people through their grief journey.

Cruse Worcestershire

The well-established Cruse branch of Worcestershire is seeking a Volunteer Chair. This active branch has 30 volunteers and can be supporting approximately 100 bereaved people at any one time. The volunteer team predominantly support service users via phone or Zoom, but does have outposts across the area. The team meet for regular forums and also hold in-person meetings, to socialise and cover learning topics specific to the work.

The role

The branch is looking for a Volunteer Chair. This role of Chair will be stimulating and call on your strategic and interpersonal skills.

It provides an opportunity to work alongside an experienced and diverse team of volunteers and staff in a rapidly changing environment to make a real difference to the people of Worcestershire.

The Chair provides a focal point for the branch, representing the volunteers and delivering a sense of cohesion to the volunteer group, championing their priorities and supporting key activities like learning, social events and fundraising.

The role is not remunerated. However, reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the role will be repaid.

Time Commitment

· The Branch Forum meets approximately 8 times a year for 1.5 hours in the evening (7pm – 8.30pm).

· Monthly operations-focused meetings with the volunteer administrators/part-time staff approx. every 6 weeks.

The new Chair will bring their passion and commitment to the bereaved people of Worcestershire. Your skills and experience will help us to empower our volunteers to continue to provide excellent support for grieving people

We are interested in an individual who brings the following:

· Ideally the Chair will be local and have networks in Worcestershire.

· Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate a team.

· Have some experience of personal loss.

· Strong inter-personal, networking and relationship building abilities.

· Previous Board experience, either within a charity or in a corporate setting.

Trees are vital for the survival of the world’s ecosystems. They clean the air we breathe by capturing excess carbon dioxide (CO₂) and releasing oxygen.  Trees provide a habitat for wildlife and thus, save the variety of life on earth. However, deforestation is happening every day in front of our eyes. 15 billion trees are cut down every year. There’s no time to wait!

Reforestation is a long game. Planting a tree today, individuals can make a contribution for generations to come. Geotrees supports local and indigenous people as much as possible. At the same time, their goal is not just planting any tree anywhere, but planting in the way that biodiversity is taken into account. • They are looking for a Fundraising Specialist VOLUNTEER to develop and implement a fundraising strategy for our initiatives. We are looking for individuals with a background in creating successful campaigns for our venture.

• -Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy. -Identify and engage potential donors and sponsors. -Design and manage fundraising campaigns. -Create fundraising materials and messaging. -Monitor and report on fundraising activities and outcomes.

• Volunteer 2-3 hours per week remotely for 3-5 months ��

Men Who Talk is a UK registered charity, running weekly online peer-to-peer support groups for men aged 18+ across the UK. The groups take places between 7:00 - 8:30pm during week nights.

Our groups are supportive spaces for men aged 18+ to come and talk openly about what's on their mind. All groups are free to attend and follow the evidence based model of peer support. 

Volunteers are required to be online from 6:45pm to 8:45pm, and are required to facilitate around 1 group per month. Volunteers are asked to commit to an a minimum of 6 months of volunteering in the initial stage. 

All groups are facilitated by 2 facilitators, and follow a semi-structured pattern.

We are looking for passionate men with some experience of groups facilitating or working in mental health settings to come join us as facilitators. Experience in using online platforms such as zoom is essential. 

A degree in psychology is preferred but not an essential requirement.

• They are looking for a SMM Specialist VOLUNTEER to develop and implement a social media strategy for their initiatives. They are looking for individuals with a background in creating successful digital campaigns for our venture.

• -Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy. -Design and manage digital marketing campaigns across various social media platforms. -Create engaging content and messaging for social media channels. -Monitor and report on social media activities and campaign outcomes.

• Volunteer 7-9 hours per week remotely for 6 months ��
