Volunteer with the RNLI and help us to save lives in the sea and on the Thames
Our Gravesend Lifeboat station fundraising branch is currently putting together an exciting events calander for the year ahead and would like to recruit a volunteer to support them in proactively seeking out opportunities to advertise recruitment vacancies and respond to follow up enquiries.
This is a post that might suit someone looking to volunteer, but unable to give a fixed, regular commitment as it can be carried out flexibly to fit around existing commitments. Much of the work could be carried out remotely, but the group are keen to find someone fairly local to Gravesend as in addition to some local knowledge being useful, they'd love you to be able to join them for the occasional event or get together.

Herts Disability Sports Foundation (HDSF) is looking to develop a New Income Generating Strategy which will ensure we can be a long term player in delivering physical activities for children and adults with physical and learning disabilities. We are seeking an experienced fundraiser who will work with us on this project to support HDSF, using their knowledge and experience in the charity sector.
HDSF is a relatively small charity working to support adults and children in Hertfordshire with physical and/or learning disabilities to participate in recreational sporting activities. Our mission is to “Provide and support opportunities in sports and physical activity that can be accessed by everyone, whether it be through participation, volunteering coaching or education in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.”
We work with a diverse range of partners including Day Services, special schools and community groups to provide a variety of sports/physical activities. These include online sessions, boxercise, water sports, holiday activities (which include siblings) and adapted cycling. Our team is small – just 10 people in a mix of full time and part time roles. What will you be doing?
Our goal is to diversify our income streams and become a more sustainable organisation. HDSF has a successful track record of grant funding and generating earned income from activities, since HDSF was created 10 years ago, but sourcing funding for core costs and new projects has become more difficult in the current climate.
Using your knowledge and experience of Fundraising at a senior level, we would like you to;
- support HDSF to develop a diverse fundraising strategy,
- identify and prioritise potential types of income streams for short and long term development,
- work with the SMT to develop a Fundraising plan to realise new sources of income.
We are particularly interested in direct fundraising and corporate partnerships.
Resources
We will provide you with a range of organisational information and financial data on past performance. You will have time with the SMT, relevant Trustees and the Business Working Group. The key point of contact will be the Chief Operating Officer who will ensure you have access to resources needed to complete the project.
Timeline
We anticipate this project will take approximately 3 months but will work with the successful volunteer to agree project milestones and timescales.
This could be an ongoing voluntary role if this first project is a success for both parties.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a volunteer who is experienced in Charity Fundraising at a strategic level, with practical experience of at least one of the following areas; corporate partnerships, major gifts, individual giving and legacies. The volunteer would have knowledge of fundraising policies and legislation relevant to the UK charity sector. They would be skilled in communicating ideas and strategies, with a professional and ethical approach to their work.
Lived experience of the disability community would be an advantage, but a real enthusiasm to contribute to the growth of HDSF is essential.

ACT has been operating for over 50 years across Suffolk and the surrounding areas. Originally providing supported housing for offenders upon their release from prison, our services have expanded to help an increasing number of vulnerable people within our community.
Initially, we provided supported housing and helped people back into education and employment. Over time, we have expanded our services to help vulnerable people in the community in many different ways. We now have over 120 staff and more than 275 volunteers who are an essential part of our workforce as many of our services could not run without our volunteers. We operate across Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex and are governed by an amazing board of Trustees who also voluntarily give their time.

You will also have the opportunity to experience work behind the scenes; sorting through donated items and ensuring the shop is suitably stocked. This is a great way to gain valuable retail experience and develop strong teamwork and communication skills.
You don’t need special skills or experience to volunteer; a positive attitude and a friendly approach to chatting with other people goes a long way. Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales. Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.
What your role will involve
There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:
- Provide a warm, friendly welcome to customers.
- Provide great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience.
- Receiving donated goods from members of the public.
- Processing sales and serving on the till.
- Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives.
- Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community.
- Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers.
- Following health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone.

Bright Futures UK works with young people who have been forced to take time out from education due to chronic illness. We provide programmes to help stimulate learning in addition to having a social aspect that offers respite to isolation these young people face due to their unfortunate circumstances.
We are urgently looking for warm and energetic volunteer tutors of all subjects to provide educational support and a fun, safe space for these young people. Tutoring experience is not essential as full training is given. Our sessions also are all currently online.
We need someone who is able to engage with young people in a positive and friendly way, helping them overcome their experiences and not feel defined by their illness. You would engage with a young person on a one-to-one basis to help catch up on their studies, increase their confidence in their own skills, and have some fun with them in order to help them progress.
The young people we work with have missed so many experiences in school which we take for granted. The time you can offer to help fill in those missed periods is invaluable to their development. Your sessions will be fully supported by Bright Futures UK staff – from questions or queries, resources or materials or just to bounce an idea off the team, we’re here to help.
Volunteering with Bright Futures UK is something that can easily fit into your working day or a busy schedule with commitment starting from as little as 1 hour per week. We are so grateful for any support you might be able to provide, as are our young people.

Program Overview
● Local On-site Tasks: Four hours daily, participating in various on-site tasks.
● International Online Teams: Four hours daily, contributing to global initiatives in
areas like budgeting, donor relations, social media campaigns, website
development, and recruitment.
Local Tasks Include, but Not Limited to
● Hands-on help with day-to-day center operations.
● Cultural exchange and activities with children.
● Support for the Peace Farm Project and learning about Kenyan agriculture.
● Involvement in evening reading and study programs.
● Management, design, and implementation of community-led projects.
Online Tasks Include, but Not Limited to
● Budgeting and finance.
● Donor relations and sponsorships.
● Social media campaigns and fundraising.
● Website development.
● Recruitment.
Essential Requirements

Eligibility and Benefits
● Requires a college diploma or university degree.
● Minimum commitment of four months, with an option to extend up to a year.

Our challenge
The Community Fundraising Team is an integral part of The Charity Fundraising Portfolio and the team consists of Community Fundraisers based across the UK. Our role is to provide fundraising advice & support to our Supporter Groups, Community Organisations, Regional Corporates, Volunteers & Events.
How can you help?
We are recruiting a team of Charity Ambassadors to help develop engagement across each Region, to maximise opportunities to raise funds and increase support from the Community. You will be actively involved with The Charity on the ground and play a key role working alongside the Regional Community Fundraisers, as and when required:
· Identifying various opportunities in your local area to raise awareness of The Charity & our wide range of Fundraising Campaigns. This could anything from contacting your local supermarket’s ‘Community Champion’ and organising an information stand and bucket collection or supporting a Supporter Group meet up in your area.
· Representing The Charity in your area, by undertaking presentations & cheque collections at schools, local companies & community groups
· Helping us to recruit new fundraisers and supporting those who are already signed up for a campaign, in your area. For example, attending a local Twilight Walk or promoting The Big Bake to local companies.
What impact will you have?
By amplifying The Charity's voice in your local area, you'll help increase the impact of fundraising campaigns & help grow funds and support us in accelerating a cure for everyone affected by a brain tumour diagnosis.

Time commitment
Initially, we envisage a minimum of 2 or 3 days per month, depending on the regional focus, and this will also be guided by whether you are researching new awareness raising opportunities in your area, or setting up a school presentation for example. Flexibility if a key part of the role as we are often presented with exciting opportunities to raise awareness or funds, at short notice.
Practical considerations
You will receive training from the Community Fundraising Team and ongoing direction from a Regional Community Fundraiser, who will be your key contact. We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers will be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18. We encourage volunteers to claim for any reasonable expenses that are incurred in the course of their volunteering with the Charity.
