At its core, the Trans Legal Clinic is a human rights practice because Trans+ rights are human rights and without the influence of trans+ and non-binary people many of the human rights which are enjoyed by our cisgendered counterparts would cease to exist as we know them today. The mission of the Trans Legal Clinic is simple; we provide free and accessible legal help to transgender and non-binary people in need. Our overarching vision is a society where all people have access to the legal resources required for gender self-determination and where gender diversity is not just accepted but embraced, with trans+ people equipped with the necessary legal tools to navigate the world in their affirmed gender.

We are currently recruiting for the role of Administration Manager, who will oversee the clinic's administrative operations and ensure the smooth functioning of our office and supports various departments. They will respond to the CEO and COO, and be responsible for the Administrative Coordinator and IT Coordinator. They must be regularly available remotely and in person on Saturdays 1-6pm.

The ideal candidate will be able to effectively:

• manage and optimise office procedures and resources to ensure efficient operations and a productive work environment.
• provide administrative support to management, including scheduling, correspondence, and document management.
• maintain accurate records and databases, ensuring compliance with GDPR and organisational standards.
• assist in budget planning and management for administrative expenses, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial accountability.

We are currently recruiting volunteers to be part of our Finance Team! The Fundraising Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the clinic's fundraising functions and securing of income needed for the clinic to conduct its vital work in the trans and non-binary community.

They will respond to the Finance Manager and must be regularly available remotely and from 1-6pm on Saturdays (in person or remotely).

The ideal candidate will be able to effectively:

• research, develop, and evaluate fundraising opportunities such as events, ensuring that fundraising methods are ethical and effective.
• manage specific fundraising campaigns and events, ensuring that deadlines are met, and targets are achieved.
• establish and leverage relationships with potential and existing donors, and attend networking opportunities.

We are currently recruiting volunteers to be part of our Governance team. The Data Protection Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the clinic's use of data and legal obligations under GDPR, maintaining high standards throughout. They will respond to the Governance and Compliance Manager.

The ideal candidate will: 

• maintain high standards of compliance with GDPR and related legislation.
• review the clinic's policies and processes to improve data protection guidelines.
• respond efficiently and effectively to data breaches if they occur.

My Death, My Decision campaigns for a compassionate assisted dying law to help end unnecessary suffering for the terminally ill and those suffering unbearably. You can lead its strategic initiatives and inspire the team to achieve the goal.

What will you be doing?

As our current Chair must step down at the end of 2024, we are seeking a Chair elect to join the board no later than the end of the first quarter of 2024. This will allow shadowing of the current Chair to ensure a smooth transition, by maintaining continuity and facilitating a seamless handover of leadership.

As the Chair of My Death, My Decision, you will play a pivotal role in leading our organisation to further our campaign goals. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about the cause either from personal experience or from professional engagement with those making end of life choices.

You will be a seasoned leader with a proven track record of strategic thinking and decision-making, whether in the context of a campaign, a charity or a not-for-profit company. Your leadership should inspire and guide our team towards achieving our mission, making a tangible impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Governance: Oversee the governance of My Death, My Decision, including chairing board meetings and member meetings, ensuring effective decision-making processes and working closely with the Director of Finance.
• Leadership and Coordination: Provide strong leadership by chairing events, onboarding new board members, and coordinating our membership at the ‘World Federation of Right to Die Societies’.
• Spokesperson: Act as the primary spokesperson for My Death, My Decision, responding to media requests and inquiries, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of the campaign and its objectives.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a key point of contact with our patrons, benefactors, and key supporters, nurturing relationships and promoting our mission.
• Miscellaneous: This role will require the successful candidate to ensure the smooth running of the organisation, both internally and in its external presentation. This will include occasional tasks outside of the realm of the job description. 

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a board member willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role.

You will be a good fit for this role if you have:

• Commitment & Enthusiasm: A strong passion for changing the law on assisted dying and a commitment to our campaign goal. The ability to inspire and engage others.
• Knowledge on assisted dying: As the role of chair will require much external engagement with relevant stakeholders and the media, in-depth understanding of the subject matter is essential. We are however willing to consider candidates who have a broad understanding but need time to become familiar with the details of the campaign during the Chair elect transition referred to above.
• Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking skills to develop and execute a campaign strategy in collaboration with other board members and small team of MDMD staff.
• Governance skills: Previous experience around not for profit governance.
• Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to act as a spokesperson for the organisation, in particular towards bodies such as the Houses of Parliament, medical associations, the media etc.

The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association (ACAA) is looking for enthusiastic volunteer ESOL teachers to support refugees and asylum seekers in in-person classes in Birmingham.

Who we are:

ACAA works to empower and support refugees and asylum seekers by providing vital services that enable successful integration. These include English classes, mentoring, drop-in advice sessions, a legal surgery, employment and education training, counter-extremism workshops and youth and women's engagement services.

Role Summary:

Working as part of a small dynamic ESOL teaching team, responsibility for lesson planning and delivery will be shared between yourself and more experienced teachers. You will have the opportunity to shadow teachers and gain practical teaching experience before leading lessons. This is alongside training sessions for CPD (continued professional development), as you progress in the position you will take on more responsibility and develop your role. Classes meet both in-person and online and all days of the week (except Sunday), meaning you can teach any day that fits your schedule.

Duties will include:

• Preparing and delivering lessons to students of different ages and abilities
• Preparing classroom and coursework materials, homework assignments, and weekly hand-outs
• Assessing students' class work and assignments
• Creating an engaging and fun teaching atmosphere
• Ensuring all our students engage in academic learning despite their ability, to achieve their highest potential whilst developing personal and employability skills
• Setting effective targets to monitor students’ progress
• Supporting and motivating students to allow them to grow and enhance their own skills by both achieving qualifications and becoming ready for work

Personal requirements:

• Previous teaching experience is desirable, but not essential as support is provided
• ESOL qualification or equivalent experience
• Excellent verbal communication skills

Marketing Management Volunteer

Tasks:

• Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to promote the Nada Foundation’s initiatives and events.
• Create engaging content across multiple platforms, including social media, newsletters, and the Foundation's website.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure alignment between marketing materials and organizational goals.
• Analyze market trends and adapt strategies to maximize reach and impact.
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns to optimize future strategies.

Skills Required:

• Strong creativity and innovative thinking to develop engaging and impactful marketing campaigns.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate ideas clearly and interact effectively with team members and external partners.
• Profound knowledge of digital marketing tools and techniques, including social media platforms, SEO, email marketing, and content management systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

About White Ribbon Alliance UK: We prioritise the eradication of gender-based violence and the promotion of gender equity in sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially for marginalised and underrepresented communities. We enable access to unbiased and evidenced-based resources, education, and support for women, girls, and trans individuals. We influence healthcare professionals, hospital systems, policy makers, and the public to centre the human rights of women, girls and trans men, intersex, and non-binary people throughout the lifecycle of their sexual health needs. 

Purpose of the Role: The Volunteer Research Assistant will support White Ribbon Alliance UK's efforts to improve maternal and reproductive health by conducting research, analysing data, and contributing to reports and publications. This role is crucial for informing our advocacy and program development. 

Our aspirations for activities the volunteer would perform:

• Assist in designing and implementing research projects, including survey design. 

• Perform desk research, literature reviews, data collection, and analysis. 

• Contribute to research reports, briefs, and presentations. 

• Manage administrative tasks to support research projects. 

• Contribute to the development of research reports, briefs, and presentations. 

• Utilise SharePoint and Microsoft Teams for collaboration and document management. 

• Support the dissemination of research findings through various channels including but not limited to social media, websites, and blogs. 

• Handle ad hoc work required by the charity such as social media, copy writing, administrative tasks, etc.

NOTE: We are looking for volunteers who can reliably contribute 4 or more hours per week to the charity. 

Ideal skills and qualifications:

• Interest in sexual and reproductive health. 

• Strong understanding of, and passion for intersectional feminism. 

• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms. 

• Current enrolment in, or completion of, a relevant university degree program (e.g., public health, mental health, social sciences, midwifery, nursing, social justice, sexual reproductive health, human rights, etc.)
