FDAMH is currently seeking a new Chair to join their Board at an exciting time of growth and development, coinciding with the development of their new Strategic Plan for the next three years. This role presents a significant opportunity to contribute to shape the future of the organisation.

The Role of Chair:

The Chair will hold the Board and Senior Leadership Team accountable for FDAMH’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees. They will ensure each trustee fulfils their governance responsibilities effectively, supporting and occasionally challenging the Chief Executive Officer to ensure effective compliance and operations of the organisation. The Chair will be a strong and visible ambassador of the charity, working closely with the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate will have senior strategic leadership experience within an organisation, preferably in the third sector, with a proven track record of success. Experience in charity governance and with Boards of Trustees is essential. You will demonstrate a strong passion for and commitment to FDAMH’s mission and objectives, possessing the personal gravitas to lead a significant charity within the local community. Strong leadership, motivational, and collaborative skills are crucial, alongside excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities. A broad understanding of the third sector and its current challenges is also required.

The Thalidomide Trust supports a unique community of people with disabilities and helps them to live their best lives. Could you bring your Finance & Governance expertise to their board as a Trustee?

The Thalidomide Trust is a unique organisation supporting 430 beneficiaries, now all in their 60s, born with disabilities as a result of their mother taking the drug, thalidomide, during pregnancy. Their physical disabilities include limb damage, hearing and visual impairment, brain and sensory impairment and damage to internal organs. They are a remarkable group of people, who have achieved a great deal despite often living with extreme levels of disability.

Our beneficiaries have very complex and varied needs which are increasing as they age.  The Trustees provide effective governance and oversight to ensure the Trust understands these needs and has adequate and well-managed resources to meet them.  

We are looking for an experienced finance professional with an understanding of charity accounting procedures and governance to join our Board of Trustees*. You will help ensure we provide the best possible future for our beneficiaries in the next phase of their lives.

We are a Charity with secure funding in place for the lifetime of our beneficiaries. A recent Independent Governance review reflected the high level of skills and experience of our Board and excellent standards of governance.

You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:

· Professional accountancy qualification and strong technical accounting skills.

· Understanding of the principles of investment management.

· Experience of working in a senior financial position

· Good current knowledge of charity accounting processes and reporting requirements.

· Sound current knowledge of Charity Law and Charity Governance frameworks.

· Well-developed interpersonal skills and an ability to develop positive relationships with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds.

Experience of monitoring investment performance is desirable but not essential. However, you should be willing to learn new skills and be able to devote approximately 15 to 20 days per annum to the Trust – within this time specifically be available to attend three full day Board meetings, at least four half-day Finance Committee meetings and one beneficiary event each year.

This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed.

Role of a Home-Start Trustee

Home-Start is a voluntary organisation in which volunteers offer regular support, befriending and practical help to families with young children who are under stress in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis or breakdown. Trustees collectively oversee the work of the organisation and are legally responsible for all aspects of its operations.

Within the Board, individual Trustees have specific roles that enable them to use their individual skills and experience to lead in particular activities. Each role has specific responsibilities that a Trustee will lead on to enable the Board as a whole to operate more effectively. 

Home-Start Barnet (HSB) Trustees give a high level of commitment and reliability in their roles and work very closely with the staff team to enable HSB to deliver a high quality and well-respected service. What do Home-Start Trustees do? 

Trustees work collectively, to hold HSB in trust for current and future beneficiaries by:

• Attending quarterly Board meetings and any additional sub-committee meetings to keep informed and plan an active role in decision making for Home-Start Barnet
• Providing leadership and direction for the charity within the ethos and values of HSB

We are looking for a new trustee with senior experience in an organisation supporting people experiencing homelessness and/or disadvantaged young people. Mulberry Schools Foundation is looking for a Finance Trustee to support it in its next stage of development. The Foundation was set up by the Mulberry Schools Trust and builds on its work to create exceptional educational opportunities.

Who we are

Mulberry Schools Foundation is the charitable arm of Mulberry Schools Trust, established in 2019. The Foundation is creating exceptional opportunities for children and young people facing disadvantage, strengthening their capacity to make a difference in their world. We support, develop and champion young people and their families in the Trust’s schools, its partner schools and its local and global communities through a wide range of commissioned and funded work.

The role

We are looking for an individual with financial experience at a senior corporate level to become the designated Finance Trustee for Mulberry Schools Foundation. The candidate is expected to be a qualified accountant and may have investment experience. Experience of charity funds would be helpful but not essential. We can provide training. Commitment to support MSF’s mission and values is essential. There are currently six Trustees and the board meets three times a year. Meetings are usually held at Mulberry School for Girls, E1 2JP, but occasionally are held remotely for convenience. Trustee terms are four years.

The Foundation has recently resumed operational activity and intends to grow its funds significantly over the coming months and years. The finance team of MST provide the operational financial administration for the Foundation. The Finance Trustee will support the Foundation’s Trustees with oversight of the financial reporting and management of the Foundation’s funds and with identifying and attracting funding partners. The Foundation is particularly interested in securing a large sponsor for its endowment fund.

The successful candidate will:

One In Four is looking for a new treasurer. We are a charity providing specialist support for survivors of sexual abuse, domestic abuse or violence in childhood or as adults.

Who we are

One in Four is one of the UK’s leading counselling support charities, with over 24 years’ experience of specialising in the long-term recovery support for adults and children who have a lived experience and survived sexual abuse and violence. We provide professional training for those working with survivors, advocacy and education of the public in the nature of sexual abuse and its effect on those who have been subject to it.

The role

Your role as treasurer will be to

– Monitor the financial standing of the charity and report to the Board regarding cash-flow forecasting, income streams, out-going expenses and the overarching strategic management of the organisation’s financial resources.

– Oversee the charity’s financial risk-management process and report financial health to the Board of Trustees at regular intervals.

– Act as a counter signatory for on-line payments and applications to funders, and ensure that annual accounts are submitted to all relevant regulators in a timely fashion.

– Liaise with external auditors on financial issues and ensure that the organisation’s finances are responsibly managed and invested for the betterment of the organisation’s work and for the beneficiaries it serves.

• Competent use of IT skills.
• Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of charity fundraising and finance practices.
