This is an exciting opportunity to be a hands-on trustee at branch level, helping to promote kindness and prevent animal cruelty, reach out to more supporters, and influence how we do things. With your support and expertise, we will achieve so much!
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person who could devote the time to volunteer with us as one of our Trustees. As a Trustee of the Branch, you will have the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives. You will serve on the governing body of the charity and be instrumental in the running of the Branch and setting out both the short and long terms aims.
As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties.
Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee
- Apreciate and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA.
- Work in conjunction with fellow trustees and branch officers and jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of the branch and the RSPCA.
- Work with national RSPCA staff to ensure that the branch meets all minimum animal welfare
- In conjunction with your fellow trustees and Branch Support Specialist write, adopt, monitor, and review a development plan setting out the short and long term aims of your branch.
- Actively participate in branch committee meetings and to attend the branch annual general meeting and regional conference.
- Be aware of the outcome of regional board meetings and support local initiatives.
- Actively promote and advertise the society in an ongoing programme to recruit new branch trustees and volunteers and welcome new members.
- In conjunction with your fellow trustees, ensure the proper management and control of all activities and decisions relating to any premises held or staff employed by the branch if applicable.
What we are looking for in a volunteer:
We are looking for people from all social and cultural backgrounds, with experience and skills in any of the following areas:
- Marketing communication including social media, PR, website;
- Fundraising including corporate fundraising, trust fund and grant applications;
- Local community and supporter relationships;
- Hands-on experience in growing charities; and/or
- Are or have been part of the groups and communities we would like to attract.
Alongside the relevant experience, we are looking for someone who is committed to the RSPCA’s charitable objectives and shares our passion for animal welfare. You would be creative, innovative, bring a fresh perspective, and can put ideas into action.

Are you passionate about animal welfare? We are looking for an enthusiastic person who understands charity finance to support us in our mission to prevent cruelty, promote kindness and alleviate the suffering of animals.
We are looking for someone to volunteer as a Branch Treasurer for our Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone Branch. This role would play a vital role in supporting the Branches affairs so that it is governed and managed effectively, whilst continually having animal welfare at the forefront of their mind.

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Treasurer

- Take a lead role in ensuring the committee set annual financial budgets and plan the branch income and expenditure.
- Provide a written financial report for every branch meeting.
- Liaise with auditors/independent examiners regarding the production of the annual branch accounts and the treasurer’s report.
- Maintain control of all bank accounts as authorised by the committee.
- Execute and operate branch committee financial decisions and act as branch co-signatory.
- Maintain control over all branch paying-in books and receipt books and to ensure their correct use.
- In the absence of a branch box secretary, to assume responsibility for the branch network of collection boxes.
- Arrange payment of the annual branch contribution to the appropriate RSPCA fund.
- Coordinate financial control of all branch fundraising activities.
- Make quarterly VAT returns to headquarters promptly.
- Ensure the production, monitoring and annual review of the branch’s financial risk management strategy in accordance with the charity commission’s requirements.
- Liaise with branch officers, branch support specialist and Branch finance co-ordinator on Financial affairs as necessary and alert them immediately to any possible difficulties or irregularities.
- Ensure the retention and safekeeping of all branch financial documentation for the appropriate time as set by the charity commission.
What we are looking for in a volunteer:
- We are particularly looking for someone who has knowledge and experience in finance, who may already understand charity finance.
- As a trustee, you would be able to dedicate the time to attend monthly committee meetings, which last approximately 3 hours.
- In between meetings, there will be additional volunteer duties such as; providing financial reports at committee meetings, monitoring the budget which has been set by the trustees for the year, processing payments, querying invoices, doing VAT returns, and processing Gift Aid claims.
Our trustee roles are subject to an informal interview and introduction period when you will have the opportunity to meet your fellow committee members and attend committee meetings as an observer . We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and will be subject to independent eligibility checks. As a membership organisation, branch membership is required to stand for election at the AGM. Full training and induction support provided

Listening Books – 2 Roles: Trustee and Treasurer.

Primary responsibilities of a Trustee

Treasurer role
What are we looking for?
The Trustees collectively set the charity’s strategic direction. In addition to the role of a trustee, the treasurer role will include the following specific tasks, mostly on an exception basis:
· The Treasurer will work with the CEO to present budgets and accounts to the board at their meetings. These will have been prepared by the CEO and Accountant.
· Monitoring and reporting on the charity’s investments and interfacing with our investment house, CCLA. Accordingly, some experience of investments would be an advantage.
· Reviewing with the accountant to ensure the appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place and that we have appropriate financial policies, including a policy on reserves.
· Ensure that budgets (prepared by CEO) are aligned with both short-term and long-term objectives each year.
· Might need to occasionally liaise with the Auditor.
· Protect the charity’s Reserves and ensure that the financial resources of Listening Books are sufficient to meet its present and future needs.
· Co-ordinate efforts on financial risk management.
Accordingly, we are seeing someone with:
- · Proven ability to communicate effectively and explain financial information to members of the board and other stakeholders.
- · Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating good judgement.
Both the general Trustee and Treasurer roles are for three years with the possibility of re-election beyond that. Both roles are voluntary. There are 3-4 board meeting per year with each taking approximately 2 hours. Meetings are held at our offices in The Foundry, Social Justice and Human Rights Centre Limited, 17 Oval Way, London SE11 5RR. Trustees may also attend virtually as required. As the treasurer role has additional responsibilities, we estimate the additional time commitment to be approximately 2 hours per month. There may be occasions where a little more, or less, time is required.

The board of trustees are jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Farm, it’s financial health, probity of its activities, developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document and legal and regulatory guidelines.

THE ROLE
Main Responsibilities

· To achieve the purpose of the charity and to pursue the charitable objects, and provide public benefit.
Main Duties
- Ensuring the charity complies with legislative and regulatory requirements, and acts within the confines of its governing document and in furtherance to the charitable objects.
- Acting in the best interest of the charity, beneficiaries and future beneficiaries at all times.
- Promoting and developing the charity in order for it to grow and maintain its public benefit and recognising the situation when it may be more appropriate to wind the charity up where there is no longer a need for the charity to provide the services it does or because the charitable objects are no longer relevant to contemporary social situations.
- Maintaining sound financial management and control of the charity’s resources.
- Ensuring a fully effective and appropriate system for the recruitment, appointment and monitoring of the work and activities of the General Manager and, where applicable, other members of the senior management team.
- Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the charity and its resources, striving for best practice in good governance.
- Acting as a counter-signatory on charity cheques (including any electronic transactions) and any applications for funds.
- To maintain absolute confidentiality about all aspects of the trustees’ business, bearing in mind the over-riding legal obligations placed upon trustees.

Deen City Farm and Riding School is an urban farm with an educational focus in the heart of the London Borough of Merton. With over 60,000 visitors a year, our five-acre site includes a farmyard, gardens, riding school, shop, café and small playground. As well as welcoming visitors who want to meet the animals and enjoy the setting, we also work with local schools and community groups to fulfil our charitable aim of improving the lives of everyone in the community. The National Museum of Computing (TNMoC) is home to the world’s largest collection of working computers from the 1940s through to the present day. Committee and Project work is generally through virtual or hybrid meetings but some additional attendance at the museum outside of board meetings is expected. About Saint Francis Hospice
Saint Francis Hospice is the main local provider of hospice care. The hospice has 18 specialist palliative care beds on its Ward within the Hospice. It also has an active well-being and day therapy service which provides one-to-one clinical and therapy appointments, as well as group wellbeing activities. 85% of our care is undertaken within the community.
These services are for anyone affected by advanced, progressive disease living in any of our catchment boroughs as shown on our map below. All areas are also covered by our hospice 24-hour Specialist Advice Line and by our Hospice at Home team; a team particularly supporting family and friends, and carers in the last few weeks of life.
We have a range of Well-being services including Bereavement Support for adults and Children, and our Orangeline support services for people in need of support during times of loneliness and loss.
The hospice is also the provider of specialist community and crisis support to people at home and in care homes in Barking & Dagenham, Havering and South West Essex, via a nurse-led specialist team. In Redbridge, that community specialist support is provided by the NHS and other care partners. Partnerships between our local Hospital Trusts and the hospice are well established including in the areas of end of life care services, education, out-of-hours consultant cover, shared cover for senior doctors between hospice and hospital and widening access to specialist palliative care services.
The hospice has an Education Centre on site offering a range of bespoke training and development opportunities for our staff and partner organisations. We offer junior doctor training and work closely with Southbank University providing BSc and MSc Palliative care programmes.
Our care strategy focuses on meeting growing demand whilst still delivering care tailored to each individual. It also includes an emphasis on the teaching, training and support of family, friends and our health and care partners and providers.
About the roles
This is an incredibly exciting time to join the hospice, having recently welcomed our new Chief Executive — and with many exciting priorities underway including; a renovation and major upgrade of our ward unit, a continued focus on service quality and innovation, a new people strategy and an ambition to achieve even greater financial sustainability.
To support our plans and ensure that we are embracing all future opportunities for growth and development, the board is now looking to appoint new Trustees to replace those whose terms have come (or are coming) to an end.
Who we are looking for
We seek individuals with a fundamental alignment to our charitable purpose and mission.
With exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, you will bring sound judgement, the ability to think strategically and offer constructive challenge and debate to the board and senior team.
Whilst we are open to a range of skills and experience, we are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background in one or more of the following areas:
Digital, Strategic Marketing and Comms - For this trustee role, we are looking for an individual with experience in making sure an organisational strategy has a strong digital thread through it as we look to improve our systems and processes, look to raise our profile even more through an amplified digital marketing strategy and capitalise on technology as we develop our services.
Commercial/Business Development – For our business development trustee role, we are looking for an individual with broad business, new service development and commercial skills, who can bring new ideas and experience in scaling new service models to our charity and transferable skills to the board.
Fundraising/Income generation – Our fundraising trustee will bring senior strategic fundraising and broader income generation experience, ideally in a charity setting with a national reach.
Healthcare – For this trustee role, we are looking for someone with current knowledge of the health and social care arena – the developments, challenges, wider healthcare market and opportunities, as well as the health economy. Whilst prior experience of end of life/palliative care would be advantageous, it isn’t essential.
For all appointments, we are looking for individuals who can provide trustee oversight on new areas and strategic priorities. Acting as a strong sounding board to the Chair, fellow trustees and the executive team, and able to provide strong strategic advice and overview.

For too long women have had to fit into a treatment system that doesn’t work for them, we believe effective treatment must meet the specific gendered needs of women. That is why we developed Ophelia House a specialist trauma-responsive service exclusively for women.
We are looking to appoint a new trustee to our Ophelia House at the Ley Community Subsidiary Board.
The Ley Community was established as a charity in 1973 and functioned as an independent therapeutic community until 2022 when after joining the Phoenix Group it was transformed the service into a specialist trauma-responsive service exclusively for women.
Along with a keen interest in specialist provision for women, we would welcome people with a range of lived and professional experience, including researchers, academics and people working in the field of trauma or criminal justice. A connection to Oxford would also be welcome.
Ideally our new trustee will come with an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship. Previous experience of being a trustee is not essential.
Board members are expected to attend all Board meetings (5 times a year) which are held in Oxford. Phoenix Futures does not remunerate Board members but out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.

About the role
The Board of Governors is the non-executive body of St. Brendan’s Sixth Form College. Together, they take responsibility for the strategic development, financial position, and academic character of the organisation. The Board work closely with the Principal and her senior leadership team and provide constructive support and challenge through discussions and the appraisal of reports, all with our mission and core purpose in mind.
Governors contribute by attending meetings of the board and its committees:

· Resources, Premises & HR Committee
· Strategy, Search & Remuneration Committee
· Teaching, Curriculum & Quality Committee
At meetings, the Principal & CEO, with her senior team, shares reports and updates on strategic developments. Governors are asked to make important decisions relating to the character, culture, and organisational development of the college. To support them to do this well, there are numerous opportunities throughout the year where governors are welcomed into the college to meet with staff and students, and experience what life is like as an employee or student of St. Brendan’s.
Who we are looking for
Following recent changes to the Board of Governors, through terms of office ending and a recent recruitment round, we have identified the need to appoint a new Foundation Governor. The new Governor will contribute their expertise in leadership or management, alongside sharing in our Catholic faith. Furthermore, having financial expertise would be advantageous.
The new Foundation Governor’s appointment will be approved by the Diocese of Clifton for an initial four-year period, and so the person appointed should have the capacity to devote the necessary time and energy to the role, through preparing for and attending meetings, and making visits to the college for celebration events, and to meet with staff and students.

Time commitment.
The Board meets quarterly for 2-3 hours, usually in central London, with an annual strategy away day. The overall time commitment, including engagement with the CEO, Trustees, and other key stakeholders, preparation for meetings, regular conversations with the chairs of the committees, ad hoc discussions and potentially attending events is expected to be the equivalent of 2-3 days per month.
