Community Focus Volunteer

Would you like to support an adult to be able to overcome the obstacles preventing them to live a better life. Our focus is to support people to understand the range of services available to them and to help people live happily and as independently as possible. Our community focus volunteer role provides opportunities to support individuals to overcome barriers relating to health & social care, social isolation, benefits, finances, housing, employment, and training. You could be part of a community focus advocacy team that offers:
· To create trusting relationships with adults who are having trouble in navigating and accessing services
· To ensure people are listened too and actively involved in the decisions that affect their lives
· To support people to attend meetings/appointments with (but not limited to) GP’s, hospital appointments, the Jobcentre/benefit office, colleges, and or housing organisations
· To accompany our qualified Independent Advocates to client visits and appointments
· To support to our ‘pop-up’ advocacy outreach provision and raise awareness of our service within the community and at our Community focus hub.
· To support people in need of services and make them aware of their rights to statutory advocacy
· To help
· To support people to make a complaint regarding a negative experience when using services
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for reliable, compassionate, caring, respectful and understanding people who are good communicators to join our volunteer team.
You do not need to be an advocacy expert; empathy matters more than academic qualifications or experience and we are keen to hear from people of all ages and walks of life.
All we ask is that you are keen and able to:
· Complete and submit the relevant paperwork and forms
· Keep up to date with relevant legislation
· Engage in quarterly supervisions and volunteer meetings with your volunteer manager
· Participate in necessary internal and external training
· Be computer literate and have access to emails and Microsoft Teams on a device
· Adhere to our volunteer policies and procedures
· Maintain strict confidentiality
· To commit to 3 or 4 hours a week for a minimum of 6 months
· Work as part of a team

Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan and execute the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony strategy and service line:
• Cultural Events and Dialogue: Lead the creation of a flagship calendar of events designed to elevate the cultural and social quality of the community. This includes organizing a successful annual cultural festival with a diverse range of activities that celebrate and raise awareness of Afro-Hebrew heritage.
• Art and Media Collaborations: Develop and implement a series of collaborative art and media projects that involve community members, fostering racial harmony and showcasing the community's creativity and stories.
2. Measure performance: Keep accurate count of thenumber of cultural events held annually; the number of attendees to cultural events; the community participation rate in art and media projects. Including social media and other statistics; and feedback and satisfaction rates from event attendees and project participants. Provide this data to the Governance Team and Trustees on request.
3. Collaboration with Verticals Teams:
• Partnership Development & Collaboration Team: Coordinate with this team to identify and establishalliances and partnerships with local, regional and global organisations, businesses, councils, and thegovernment to acquire Community Engagement and Racial Harmony resources, speakers or information.
• Fundraising & Financial Management Team: Collaborate with this team to conduct fundraising activities and financial planning for the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service line. About this role
You will be vital to the work of our ecommerce hub helping to sort, quality check and monitor donated products from our corporate partners.
Your role may include:

· helping to pack orders to go our shops
· helping keep our warehouse tidy and our stock system accurate
When and where
You will be in our Scope Ecommerce Hub. The hub is based at 19 – 20 Guide Street, Salford M50 1BX. We can be flexible on the times you would like to volunteer. Our hub opening times (Monday-Friday 8am-4pm). We’d love your help for as little as 1 hour a week, but if you can give more time that would help us even more.
Who we’re looking for
We welcome anyone who is passionate about disability equality and willing to support our work! You must be over 18 years old. You will need to feel comfortable working in a large busy warehouse environment and be able to lift and carry items, although we have a forklift truck to assist with heavier items.
Some volunteers want to learn more about charities or about retail. Others want to make a difference to the lives of disabled people. Other volunteers are interested in our training and development opportunities. Some people join us to meet new people and make friends. Sometimes people want to help a charity shop they like shopping in, while also getting a discount online!

Position Overview:
We, at Millimetres 2 Mountains Foundation, are seeking a passionate and creative Events Assistant with strong graphic design skills to join our volunteer team. This role offers the unique opportunity to learn and grow in event planning and coordination with the ultimate goal of organizing your own event under the guidance of our experienced team. This position is ideal for someone looking to make a meaningful impact while developing valuable skills in both event management and graphic design. Having the ability to travel to either Bath, Exeter or Bristol at least once a month for face-to-face meetings would be advantageous, but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:

Buckinghamshire Culture has two Chairs at the same time, who share the role and jointly support our Director, by joining us you would be entering into a partnership with our charity and our other Co-Chair.
As Chair of Buckinghamshire Culture for three years from Autumn 2024, activities would include:
· Being a champion for culture in Buckinghamshire, the Buckinghamshire Cultural Partnership, the and resulting projects/programmes;
· Defining and articulating the Buckinghamshire Culture vision, acting as an ambassador and maintaining close relationships with key decision makers at a local, regional and national level;
· Ensuring an effective and appropriate model of governance for the charity that is fully compliant with governance requirements;
· Supporting the Director and staff of Buckinghamshire Culture, providing strategic leadership, support and challenge;
· Chairing the Board of Buckinghamshire Culture effectively and efficiently, bringing impartiality and objectivity to the decision-making process;

Early morning homelessness outreach volunteer

Role available in Dartford
You'll be part of our homelessness outreach team: finding people who are living on the streets and giving them the support they need to stay safe and get housed.
When you're homeless, it can be difficult to trust others. Part of your work will be about earning people's trust - often over weeks or months - so they feel comfortable accepting your help.
For this role, you'll be partnered with a Porchlight member of staff. Together, you'll go out once a fortnight (either on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday), often starting between 3am and 4am, and finishing between 7am and 8am.
This is perfect for morning person who wants to help others. If you’re passionate about helping people get to where they want to be in life, we want to hear from you.
What we need from you
- No experience is required, but you must feel strongly about helping people sleeping rough to escape the streets and rebuild their lives
- This role will benefit a morning person
- We ask that volunteers undergo some training (provided by Porchlight)
- Two references will be required and a DBS check will be undertaken
