You could make a difference by:

Supporting a child or young person who may have little or no contact with their parents or other family members.

This service offers support to a child or young person by:

• Matching your hobbies and interests to that of the child or young person
• Being a positive role model who can enable a child or young person to take more productive paths in their lives
• Being a ‘trusted person’ that a young person can talk to and to share their concerns with, with a view to supporting them to get their desired outcome

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for friendly people aged over 21 who are good communicators to join our volunteer team. They will be reliable, compassionate, caring, respectful and understanding.

You do not need to be an expert; empathy matters more than academic qualifications or experience and we are keen to hear from people from all walks of life.

All we ask is that you are keen and able to:

• Understand the circumstances of children and young people in care and put the needs of children and young people first
• Utilise excellent communication skills and be comfortable conversing with children and young people
• Commit to children and young people’s rights and welfare
• Complete and submit relevant paperwork and forms
• Be computer literate and have access to emails and Microsoft Teams on a device
• Attend quarterly supervisions and volunteer meetings with our volunteer management team
• Attend necessary internal and external training
• Adhere to our volunteer policies and procedures
• Maintain strict confidentiality
• To commit to three or four hours a month offering a commitment of 2 years
• Travel using public transport or your own vehicle (for which you should have a full

UK driving licence)

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan and execute the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony strategy and service line:

• Cultural Events and Dialogue: Lead the creation of a flagship calendar of events designed to elevate the cultural and social quality of the community. This includes organizing a successful annual cultural festival with a diverse range of activities that celebrate and raise awareness of Afro-Hebrew heritage.

• Art and Media Collaborations: Develop and implement a series of collaborative art and media projects that involve community members, fostering racial harmony and showcasing the community's creativity and stories.

2. Measure performance: Keep accurate count of thenumber of cultural events held annually; the number of attendees to cultural events; the community participation rate in art and media projects. Including social media and other statistics; and feedback and satisfaction rates from event attendees and project participants. Provide this data to the Governance Team and Trustees on request.

3. Collaboration with Verticals Teams: 

• Partnership Development & Collaboration Team: Coordinate with this team to identify and establishalliances and partnerships with local, regional and global organisations, businesses, councils, and thegovernment to acquire Community Engagement and Racial Harmony resources, speakers or information.

• Fundraising & Financial Management Team: Collaborate with this team to conduct fundraising activities and financial planning for the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service line. Identify diverse revenue streams, such as grants, donations, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events for the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service.

• Volunteer Engagement Team: Work with this team to recruit, train and manage volunteers to support the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service delivery.

• Marketing Outreach & Advocacy: work with this team to enhance visibility of the Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service across social media, press, and community events. 

4. Governance Team Interaction: Provide regular updates and reports to the Governance, Secretariat & Performance Reporting team. Ensure programmealignment with Barawak policies, procedures, strategyand objectives. Collaborate on monitoring and evaluation efforts to assess Community Engagement and Racial Harmony service impact and effectiveness.

About this role

You will be vital to the work of our ecommerce hub helping to sort, quality check and monitor donated products from our corporate partners.

Your role may include:

· sorting donated pallets of stock ready for sale

· quality checking products to sort the good from the bad

· scanning products to trade in, such as books and CDs

· helping to pack orders to go our shops

· helping keep our warehouse tidy and our stock system accurate

When and where

You will be in our Scope Ecommerce Hub. The hub is based at 19 – 20 Guide Street, Salford M50 1BX. We can be flexible on the times you would like to volunteer. Our hub opening times (Monday-Friday 8am-4pm).  We’d love your help for as little as 1 hour a week, but if you can give more time that would help us even more.

Who we’re looking for

We welcome anyone who is passionate about disability equality and willing to support our work! You must be over 18 years old. You will need to feel comfortable working in a large busy warehouse environment and be able to lift and carry items, although we have a forklift truck to assist with heavier items.

Some volunteers want to learn more about charities or about retail. Others want to make a difference to the lives of disabled people. Other volunteers are interested in our training and development opportunities. Some people join us to meet new people and make friends. Sometimes people want to help a charity shop they like shopping in, while also getting a discount online!

• CV Assistance and subsidising travel: Organise and oversee quarterly CV clinics and provide discretionary support for travel costs associated with interviews and courses, enhancing job readiness among community members.

• Discretionary interview support: provide access to high quality discretionary interview practice and advice.

• Job opportunity signposting: Develop and maintain partnerships with businesses and organizations to highlight job opportunities for the community. Act as a liaison for discretionary referrals to these job opportunities, ensuring a fit between community members’ skills and available positions.

Tackle digital isolation by joining us as a Tech Angel in Surrey and use your digital skills to help people step out of digital poverty and into a world of connection. 

Surrey Coalition of Disabled People runs a project called Tech Angels that provides people with access to technology and training. Eligible adults in Surrey are loaned a touchscreen device, if needed, and are then matched to a Tech Angel. Our Tech Angel volunteers around Surrey visit these Tech Members at home and provide face-to-face basic digital support to help them access the internet.

We are looking for volunteers who:

Volunteer Job Description: Events Assistant w/ Graphic Design Skills

Position Title: Events Assistant (Volunteer)

Location: Remote and/or around Exeter/Bath/Bristol

Time Commitment: [5-10 hrs per week/ Monday-Thursdays/ Flexible]

Reports To: Events Executive

Position Overview:

We, at Millimetres 2 Mountains Foundation, are seeking a passionate and creative Events Assistant with strong graphic design skills to join our volunteer team. This role offers the unique opportunity to learn and grow in event planning and coordination with the ultimate goal of organizing your own event under the guidance of our experienced team. This position is ideal for someone looking to make a meaningful impact while developing valuable skills in both event management and graphic design. Having the ability to travel to either Bath, Exeter or Bristol at least once a month for face-to-face meetings would be advantageous, but not essential. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Event Planning and Coordination:

   • Assist in the planning and execution of various events, including logistics, scheduling, and supplier coordination.

   • Work closely with the Events Executive and team to develop event concepts and themes.

   • Help manage event budgets, timelines, and task lists.

2. Graphic Design:

   • Create visually appealing marketing materials such as flyers, posters, social media graphics, and banners to promote events.

   • Design event programs, invitations, and other printed materials.

   • Ensure all designs align with the organization’s brand guidelines and vision.

3. Marketing and Promotion:

   • Develop and implement marketing strategies to increase event visibility and attendance.

   • Assist with social media content creation and scheduling related to events.

   • Help maintain and update the event pages on the organization's website.

4. On-Site Event Support:

   • Provide on-site support during events, including setup, registration, and attendee assistance.

   • Assist with event photography and videography as needed.

   • Help manage volunteers and coordinate their activities during events.

5. Post-Event Activities:

   • Assist in gathering and analyzing feedback from attendees to improve future events.

   • Help with the creation of post-event reports and presentations.

Qualifications:

• Desirable, but not essential: experience in event planning and coordination.

• Graphic design skills with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar software is advantageous.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Creative thinking and attention to detail.

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

• Prior experience with social media marketing and website management is a plus.

• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to take ownership of projects.

We are seeking a collaborative new Trustee that can be a champion and guide for Bucks Culture as it evolves from a fledgling charity into its next phase. 

Buckinghamshire Culture has two Chairs at the same time, who share the role and jointly support our Director, by joining us you would be entering into a partnership with our charity and our other Co-Chair. 

As Chair of Buckinghamshire Culture for three years from Autumn 2024, activities would include:

· Being a champion for culture in Buckinghamshire, the Buckinghamshire Cultural Partnership, the and resulting projects/programmes;

· Defining and articulating the Buckinghamshire Culture vision, acting as an ambassador and maintaining close relationships with key decision makers at a local, regional and national level;

· Ensuring an effective and appropriate model of governance for the charity that is fully compliant with governance requirements;

· Supporting the Director and staff of Buckinghamshire Culture, providing strategic leadership, support and challenge;

· Chairing the Board of Buckinghamshire Culture effectively and efficiently, bringing impartiality and objectivity to the decision-making process;

· Advocating for and championing the Buckinghamshire Cultural Strategy;

· Ensuring that the Board of Buckinghamshire Culture fulfil their duties and responsibilities and work together to provide a clear strategic direction;

· Ensuring, with the Director, that the Board of Buckinghamshire Culture are provided with  information so that they are able to fulfil their duties, including being  able to regularly review major risks and associated opportunities, and satisfy itself that systems are in place to take advantage of opportunities, and manage and mitigate the risks;

· Developing the knowledge and capability of the Board of Buckinghamshire Culture, addressing and resolving any conflicts, and appraising the Board’s performance;

· Driving forward planning and a fundraising strategy to enable a sustainable future for  Buckinghamshire Culture;

· Representing the Buckinghamshire Culture at external functions, meetings and events;

· Addressing any potential conflicts within the Partnership and with external stakeholders.

Person Specification

Qualified by experience, the Chair is likely to have/have had a role(s) at a senior decision-making level in other relevant organisations, and ideally will have been a Board member.  They will have;

· A passion for culture and creativity and the transformative role it can play in people’s lives;

· Commitment to the purpose and values of Buckinghamshire Culture and the role of culture for societal good;

· Proven and demonstrable leadership skills;

· Enthusiasm, integrity, strategic vision and good independent judgement;

· A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as Chair;

· An ability to take strong decisions for the good of Buckinghamshire Culture;

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

· Tact and diplomacy;

· Willingness to speak their mind as well as listen to the views of others;

· An ability to work effectively as a member of a team of experienced and independent individuals giving their time as Trustees.

Early morning homelessness outreach volunteer

Help people who are homeless to leave the streets behind

Role available in Dartford

You'll be part of our homelessness outreach team: finding people who are living on the streets and giving them the support they need to stay safe and get housed.

When you're homeless, it can be difficult to trust others. Part of your work will be about earning people's trust - often over weeks or months - so they feel comfortable accepting your help.

For this role, you'll be partnered with a Porchlight member of staff. Together, you'll go out once a fortnight (either on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday), often starting between 3am and 4am, and finishing between 7am and 8am.

This is perfect for morning person who wants to help others. If you’re passionate about helping people get to where they want to be in life, we want to hear from you.

What we need from you

• No experience is required, but you must feel strongly about helping people sleeping rough to escape the streets and rebuild their lives
• This role will benefit a morning person
• We ask that volunteers undergo some training (provided by Porchlight)
• Two references will be required and a DBS check will be undertaken

Where

• Dartford (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings - to be agreed once you've signed up to the role). Starts between 3am and 4am, and finishing between 7am and 8am.

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health, safety and social distancing measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Durrell’s Board of Trustees is made up of passionate and dedicated experts, with diverse backgrounds and relevant experience from different organisations. Trustees voluntarily offer their time to ensure the Trust meets its regulatory requirements and hold the senior leadership team accountable for delivering Durrell’s strategic goals.

Durrell is looking to recruit four Trustees with skills in:

• fundraising / philanthropy 
• zoo management 
• conservation science and training
• professional directorships and investments
