Events Assistant Volunteer Roles

We’re looking for cat-loving volunteers to play a vital role in helping us improve the
wellbeing of the cats and kittens in our care whilst they wait to be rehomed. Can you
help them by providing a calm and caring home whilst we find their purrfect forever
home?

As a cat fosterer, you would be supporting the RSPCA branch in providing our cats with the safety of your home whilst tending to their welfare needs such as feeding and grooming. In addition to this, by providing a temporary loving environment, you
will play a crucial role in a cat’s wellbeing and socialisation, which will significantly improve their chances of successful rehoming.
Once everything is in place, the animal centre will guide you through the fostering process and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment, food, and veterinary care for your fostered cat.  The RSPCA branch is also happy to reimburse any other pre-agreed expenses that you may incur through volunteering for us.

Whilst our cats are in your foster care, you will:

•  Provide them with care, suitable housing, and a safe environment as per our policies and guidelines.
•  Feed, water, and groom them in line with our advice.
• Transport them to any veterinary appointments if required. 
• Provide them with your time and patience.
•  Help us spread the word about the cats in your care so they might find their forever home quicker.
•  Playing and cuddles are also a must!

What we are looking for in a volunteer Cat Fosterer:

•  Volunteers aged 18 or over who have had plenty of experience caring for cats.
•  Fostering experience is beneficial but not essential as training is provided.
•  For their wellbeing, our cats need to be kept in a separate room, so the whole family should be on board.
• Any existing pets or animals need to have been spayed/neutered (some medical reasons may mean they cannot be so, please let us know if this is the case).
• They also need to be up to date with their vaccinations.

Volunteer Role:

Evening & Weekend Enrichment Volunteer – Monday-Friday 4pm-8pm Weekends 10am-4pm

The Scottish Forum on Natural Capital (the Forum) brings together public, private and voluntary sector organisations to protect, value and rebuild Scotland’s natural capital. The Steering Group is made up of senior representatives from the public, private and voluntary sectors. The Secretariat is provided by a small team at the Scottish Wildlife Trust. The commitment involves four, 2-hour meetings per year (UK time zone), plus the preparation and actions for these. At the discretion of the Steering Group member, other work can be pursued in your area of interest and expertise. The position of Steering Group Member is without remuneration, although reasonable out of pocket expenses for travelling to meetings may be claimed.

The role can be delivered solely by remote working, with in-person attendance at the Scottish Wildlife Trust main office is based in Leith, Edinburgh, welcomed and encouraged particularly for Steering Group hybrid meetings

What would I be doing?

We have a regular weekly activity, and also a fun monthly disco - choose the hours that suit you.

At our weekly social night and monthly disco we really want everyone to feel welcome, included and to have a great time.

We need you to be a friendly face for our citizens, chatting and helping them to get involved and have a great time.

 What skills do I need?

· A lively and friendly personality to ensure a happy atmosphere.

· Accepting of people who may be different to you.

· Happy to chat.

· Willing to learn and act within guidelines set out by Midland Mencap.

· Good time management skills, reliability.

· An enhanced DBS check will be required by all successful applicants.

Sense Virtual Buddying volunteers make a real difference to supporting young people and adults who may be lonely or isolated.

Sense matches volunteers with disabled people to meet for an hour a week on Zoom, over phone, by email, text or letter writing. Our volunteers have spent thousands of hours with their buddies — learning new skills, having fun, and forming fantastic friendships. Sense matches each volunteer with someone who has similar interests, to make sure you have a great time. You and your buddy choose a time that suits you, and you can decide what activities you’d like to do together.

The Role of a Virtual Buddy

Sense matches each volunteer with someone who has similar interests to ensure you’ll have lots of fun together. Once matched with a buddy, you will get to know each other remotely via video calls and phone calls.

You’ll arrange weekly sessions and plan fun things to do together – what this looks like will be inspired by your mutual interests. You could be gaming, doing arts and crafts, playing music, seed planting – there are so many possibilities! We will provide you with weekly themed activities to help to support you in planning your interactions with your buddy.

We’ll also keep in touch with you to ensure you have all the support you need.

The programme is open to all volunteers who are 16 and over. You don't need to have previous experience volunteering or caring for disabled people. We welcome people from all backgrounds and with all interests.

What we can Offer You

Before you start your volunteering role, we’ll make sure that you’ve had the training you need to feel confident. This will be delivered online and via video call.

Acorns have a network of shops across the West Midlands that generate a substantial level of income to enable us to care for children and their families. Our empowered Replenishment and Merchandising Volunteers support the team by replenishing stock on the shop floor and by merchandising it in an eye catching and engaging fashion.

Our shops are open Monday to Saturday (some open on Sundays too), 9am to 5pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but ideally we’ll need you to be available for at least 3 hours per week.

What is a Wildlife Watch Leader Volunteer?

Wildlife Watch is the junior branch of the Wildlife Trusts and is the UK's leading club for young environmentalists. Our local Wildlife Watch clubs across Cumbria run a varied programme of fun environmental and wildlife focused activities, aimed at 6–12 year-olds and their families.

As a Wildlife Watch Leader you will be a key player in Cumbria Wildlife Trust’s work with young people. You will have the opportunity to engage with a group of young people  on a regular basis, to getting to know them and helping to shape their learning and understanding about the environment. Volunteer handbook and Trust induction.

Health and safety and safeguarding training will be mandatory.Risk assessment, participant registration, Wildlife Watch templates, posters, email etc.. will all be provided

Volunteers are able to receive travel expenses of 0.45p per mile agreed in advanced with their staff contact.

First aid training will be provided for volunteer leaders.

The Trust will apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for volunteers undertaking this role because it involves working with children and young people or vulnerable adults.

In the second stage of the volunteer recruitment process, we will take up two references.

Being a Walk Leader involves a regular commitment as you will be taking responsibility for one of the main objectives of our group: leading a local walking group. With this in mind, these are the activities involved in being a Walk Leader: 

• Lead a local walking group, being a point of contact for the walking group participants. 
• Be able and willing to be facilitating a walking group at least once monthly
  • ​We understand that you may be working full-time and have a family life, so please consider carefully if this level of commitment is right for you,
  • You may only be able to commit to once a month; this is okay, as long as it can be the same day/time each month and this can be evenings or weekends, for example,
  • We want our Group Leaders to take ownership of this as long as it works for you and the participants who attend,
  • It is important that if for any reason you cannot make it to lead a walking group you are able to ensure there is someone able to step in for you.
• Being prepared to provide advice and guidance regarding any concerns, within the limitations outlined below (see section below on what volunteers should not do) 
• Being willing to interact with and, if needed, offer support to other Group Leaders 

Important thoughts on our volunteer roles 

MenWalkTalk has been set up to offer opportunities for men with mental health issues to come together and feel no pressure or stigma about discussing their issues with other men. 

Supporting men with mental health issues is at its core, and it may help you in your volunteering if you too have lived experience of a mental health problem, either personally or from a close relative or friend. It will also help if you have an open, non-judgemental attitude, and that you are able to adopt a positive, patient and supportive approach towards supporting people with mental health problems. 

We would like you understand that whatever role you are able to volunteer for, when representing MenWalkTalk volunteers should at all times behave in a professional, confidential and non-discriminatory manner at all times, and promote equal opportunities for all. 

What a MenWalkTalk Walk Leader should not do 

MenWalkTalk is about getting more people walking, benefiting from the physical, social and mental wellbeing benefits that come from walking and talking. 

Within their volunteer roles, MenWalkTalk Campaigners and Walk Leaders should not offer to provide individual or emergency support for people experiencing mental health problems or in crisis. There are lots of people and organisations who can help, and MenWalkTalk Campaigners and Walk Leaders will be provided with information and guidance on signposting anyone to access the necessary support. 

Similarly, unless they are qualified to do so MenWalkTalk Campaigners and Group Leaders won’t provide therapeutic or coaching advice. Again, you will be provided with information on directing anyone to the appropriate support.

Room to Reward are looking for an Events Administration volunteer to help deliver our busy schedule of events throughout the year. The R2R team deliver 3 major events – a regatta, a golf day and a regional version of the Great British Menu – every year and are in the process of adding a fourth. As well as these major events, there are a number of other smaller events throughout the year helping raise vital funds for our small charity and enabling us to make a real difference to charities, communities and the Hidden Heroes who do so much for them.

As an Events Administrator, you will work closely with our Fundraising Executive to monitor details such as invites, payments, sponsor donations, track responses from guests, suppliers and supporters, monitor and report the income and costs and of course attend on the day!

Room to Reward are fortunate to enjoy the support of a number of prestigious companies, particularly from within the hospitality industry. As well as being a vital revenue stream for the charity (and of course, a lot of fun!), our events are a great opportunity to network. You can find out more about R2R events on our website.

We are looking for an organised individual with good admin skills and computer literacy. Given the nature of the role, hours are likely to fluctuate. Outside of event days, we anticipate a maximum of 2-3 hours a week. Remote volunteering is possible though the ability to visit our office in Christchurch as and when necessary would be preferred.

As an event volunteer you will play a vital role by raising awareness of our services, assisting with fundraising and engaging with the local community.You will represent Magpas Air Ambulance at a wide range of events indoors and outdoors, come rain or shine. You may be assisting with car parking, meeting and greeting, setting up a stall, selling merchandise, engaging the public and answering questions. Magpas Air Ambulance have a presence at over 150 events each year and need reliable, friendly people like you to help us achieve this. At larger events you will be supported by an event lead and we'll always make sure you are prepared and confident, you don't need to have previous experience, just be willing to get stuck in!

As an event volunteer, you will be expected to:

• Represent Magpas Air Ambulance in a respectful and friendly manner.
• Understand the work of Magpas Air Ambulance to secure basic knowledge and enthusiasm for our service.
• Wear your Magpas Air Ambulance ID badge while volunteering, ensuring it's visible at all times.
• Follow the leadership and guidance of the event lead, staff member or event organiser.
• Assist in all event activities in a flexible and friendly manner.
• Have good communication skills and be able to work with other volunteers and staff as part of a team.
• Process the sale of merchandise and take donations.
• Follow all Magpas Air Ambulance policies and procedures, including reporting any accidents and incidents.
• Recognise, respond to and report any safeguarding issues or concerns.

We are currently seeking a volunteer Personal Assistant/Office Manager. This role is ideal for an individual with experience as a P.A./Manager looking to work within the charity sector. 

Responsibilities typically include: 

• Acting as a first point of contact for enquiries: (email/calendar management and phone calls, managing diaries 

• Typing, compiling, and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence. 

• Miscellaneous tasks to support the CEO which will vary according to projects and tasks but could include fundraising, event planning, social media, community outreach, press & PR. 

• Managing databases and filing systems. 

• Implementing and maintaining procedures/policies & administrative systems 

• Forming a relationship with our clients as they are part of the community. 

Essential skills for this role are: 

• Organization skills: The ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and keep track of deadlines is crucial.  

• Communication skills: should be able to communicate effectively in writing. 

• Attention to detail: the ability to pick up on small details can prevent costly mistakes from occurring. 

• Problem-solving skills: the ability to identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
