Volunteer with us at Acorns Children's Hospice Black Country for our Christmas Fete on Saturday 6th December 2025!

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £11 million a year to run our care services.

 What's involved?

We are looking for volunteers who will come a long to support Acorns and engage with members of the public. 

Join our team for a day of festive fun! We're looking for volunteers to help with a variety of stalls and activities, including:

• Stall holders
• Admissions
• Refreshment stand

The event will take place at Yewtree and Tamebridge Community Centre WS5 4LB

9.30am - 15.30 either for the whole event or a few hours

Sooty, the nation’s much-loved bear and a true national treasure, has featured on RNIB’s collection boxes for over 50 years. Thanks to generous public support, these iconic boxes have raised more than £13 million in donations.

We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our network of Sooty Box collectors. In this flexible role, you’ll help place new boxes and collect and bank donations from Sooty Boxes in local shops, cafés and other businesses in your area. Whether you volunteer on your own, with a friend or as part of a group, you’ll be making a real difference in your community.

You can give as much or as little time as you like and fit the role around your other commitments.

Please note: Volunteers are expected to use their own transport and ideally should have access to a car. Mileage or public transport costs will be reimbursed.

We’re looking for compassionate and knowledgeable volunteers to join our small, friendly team as SEND Advocates. In this role, you’ll help families by explaining SEND processes and legislation, supporting them to communicate with schools and local authorities, and ensuring their child’s needs are properly recognised. You’ll also assist with preparing letters, attending virtual meetings, and keeping accurate confidential records.

We are looking for benefits advisors to join our Entitlements support page to support members with current claims, new claims, what they maybe entitled to in their circumstances.

This is all online and hours are flexable around your current committments.

Relevant Person’s Representative (RPR) Support Volunteer

People in care homes should have a voice to communicate their needs wishes and wants. Some people need support with this, but don’t have friends and family available to assist them.  This means they’re entitled to have support from an RPR and volunteer, who are there to make sure they get the care they deserve.  Your role as an RPR Support Volunteer is to collaborate with the VoiceAbility RPR to make sure a person’s views are listened to when decisions are made about their care. 

As a RPR support volunteer, you might:

• As an RPR Support Volunteer you might: 
• Visit people in their care home, to make sure they’re getting the right care and support 
• Talk with them about their feelings, thoughts and wishes 
• Raise concerns 
• Keep detailed notes and records 
• Make a real difference to someone’s life 

Support Session Volunteer

You’ll be supporting people over the age of 18 with disabilities, this may include those with poor mental health, learning difficulties, autism and other disabilities.  Your role will include supporting clients to understand and undertake a task on a one-to-one basis.  The task will vary from client to client as will the needs of the individual. 

As a support session volunteer, you might: 

• help people have their say when it matters most
• Helping individuals navigate challenges and ensuring their needs are met
• help people to make complaints and use local services

All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.  You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

The Sign Language Officer oversees the teachers in running the BSL and Makaton teaching sessions once a week, ensuring volunteers engage in the sessions and thus utilise their skills at events. This involves building lesson plans, working to create engaging sessions and materials and helping to conduct teaching sessions.

The Conference Officer takes the lead of running the Annual National Conference. This includes the organisation of a sub-committee, financing, logistics, content of the training eg. speakers and social aspects. In addition to organising the conference, they should organise attendance at other conferences for recruitment and fundraising purposes. This should
include comic conventions and medical conferences.

Regional Officers oversee chapters within a certain region. They provide support and guidance to the Presidents (and the rest of committee if needed) including advice and signposting as needed. They can also provide hands on support if requested. They should encourage chapters to collaborate including the sharing of resources, socials, fundraisers, training and events.

The Merch Officer oversees the sale and creation of Make a Smile merch. This includes facilitation of committee hoodies, distribution of Make a Smile t-shirts and management of online merch sales. This can include designing new merch options, pushing additional sales on social media and auditing digital stock.

The Organisation

Citizens Advice South Warwickshire (CASW) is a local charity providing free, confidential, and impartial advice to anyone in need. The organisation supports individuals with a wide range of issues, from simple queries to complex situations involving multiple challenges.

Each year, CASW assists thousands of people across South Warwickshire — including Warwick, Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Stratford-upon-Avon, and surrounding villages — helping them find practical solutions and move forward. Its community-based team delivers services such as general advice, signposting, and specialist support in areas including debt and housing. Assistance is available in person, by phone, online, and, in some cases, through home visits.

The Role

Citizens Advice South Warwickshire is seeking a trustee to join its effective and passionate Board of Trustees, a team that works collaboratively with respect, energy, and purpose. The ideal candidate will be a passionate team player with strong strategic insight and commercial acumen, able to communicate complex financial information clearly to support effective decision-making.

Essential:

• Recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

• Experience in addressing strategic issues, interpreting complex information, and business planning

National Clinical Officer (Paramedicine & AHPs)

About the Role

We’re looking for two National Clinical Officers (Paramedicine & AHPs) to join our National Clinical Team.
These key volunteer leadership roles will provide strategic clinical leadership, management, and expert advice to ensure our clinical services remain safe, compliant, and of the highest quality.
