HiDDEN is a supportive network celebrating unique and rare heritage, believing that we are stronger together. Our vision is to be recognised as a champion of hidden heritage, increasing the preservation and visibility of rare stories and collections across Greater Manchester. HiDDEN values passion, inclusivity, knowledge sharing, and environmental responsibility.
Following a comprehensive review and with support from a Heritage Compass grant, HiDDEN has developed a new 'members agreement' to guide the network's future.
The members have expressed a clear desire for an independent Chair to lead HiDDEN, providing strategic leadership and ensuring the network continues celebrating and preserving Greater Manchester's hidden heritage, rare collections, and unique stories.
The Chair will play a pivotal role in driving the network's growth and impact, working collaboratively with both members and volunteers to achieve these shared goals.
Job Requirements
Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within the heritage, cultural, or nonprofit sectors.
Experience in governance, strategic planning, and decision-making processes.
Strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing small heritage organisations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to facilitate inclusive discussions and achieve consensus.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to act impartially and mediate conflicts.
Passion for heritage and a commitment to HiDDEN's values of inclusivity, knowledge sharing, and environmental responsibility.

Childline Volunteer Counsellor- Someone who wants to make a difference to children’s lives by being there to listen when they feel they have no one else to turn to. As a Childline counsellor, you’ll be there for young people and listen to them as they open up about whatever is worrying them, whether it’s bullying, abuse, self-harm or family relationships – you’ll be there to support them.
What you’ll do
You’ll volunteer in our Leeds Childline base, offering counselling support to children and young people over the phone or through our 1-2-1 online chat. Your supervisor will help you develop and evaluate your counselling skills. After your initial training, you will be able to help young people as well as identify when a child or young person may be at risk, but don’t worry a supervisor will be on hand to give you plenty of support.
What you’ll get
You’ll receive training sessions over 12 weeks to prepare you for the role. When you start your regular shifts, a supervisor will be around all times to support you. Every shift includes a briefing and debriefing alongside other volunteers. Supervisors will also give you regular one-to-one support and group supervisions.
What we’ll need from you
Signing up to be a Childline counsellor is a big commitment and requires lots of training so, we do ask people to stay in the role for a minimum of one year.
We’ll also need to do some routine safeguarding checks, including an enhanced criminal record check and at least two satisfactory references with at least one covering a period of five years or more with no gaps. It’s nothing to worry about, and we can answer any questions you have about this.

About this key role
Guided by Women’s Wellbeing Coaches who will support and help you throughout, as a volunteer Peer Advisor you will support the women using a variety of methods to help reduce the risk of reoffending and encourage positive lifestyle choices. You will provide mentoring for clients in a positive manner, in a way that helps them reach their specific goals, while also advocating on behalf of the clients and providing practical advice, which can include contacting other services or professionals on your client’s behalf and/or accompanying them at meetings.
We will count on you to maintain accurate records of your activity involving support provided to clients and to develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships with all members of staff at St Giles Trust and other professionals in the community. Undertaking any relevant training requested to support your success and development is also key to this role.

About the Role
As a Families Out Loud Trustee, you will share our passion of supporting families affected by someone else’s drug or alcohol use. You will be committed to the Purpose, Vision and Values of Families Out Loud, working with the board to deliver the charity’s 5-year strategic plan. We’re committed to helping clients rebuild their lives, and to reducing stigma so they can feel confident to speak freely about their own experiences. As a Trustee, you will support this mission by reviewing the work we do on a regular basis, understanding that everything we do is for the public benefit, and within the charity’s purpose. You will work collaboratively with the other Trustees to effectively manage resources, and to ensure compliance with charity law and other legal requiremets.
This is a voluntary position, mainly working from home. You will be required to attend monthly Trustee meetings which are currently held virtually. Occasionally you may be required to attend in-person meetings in different locations across Wiltshire.
