We are looking for candidates who have experience/expertise in one or more of the following areas: 

General management

Finance/bookkeeping

Safeguarding

Premises/facilities

Fundraising 

HR

You will take the lead in your area of expertise and be able to commit time to deliver on initiatives or projects related to your specialism.

In addition  you will have:

Good written and verbal communication skills

Attention to detail with the ability to work under own initiative within a defined framework.

MS Office skills: Word; Excel; PowerPoint and SharePoint.

The Ryan Neuro Therapy Centre supports people with neurological conditions by delivering physiotherapy and other therapies to benefit their health and welfare in a caring, friendly, and supportive environment. We are a small self-funded charity in Coulsdon, reliant entirely on fundraising and donations to provide the income needed each year to run the Centre. The organisation took on charitable status in 1995 supporting people living with Multiple Sclerosis. In 2023, we expanded our provision to support other neurological conditions. The Charity has 18 members of staff (all part-time), 15 volunteers and over 100 members with neurological conditions.

Are you passionate about social media and want to use your skills to make a difference? Youth Challenge Oxfordshire (YoCO) is looking for a dedicated volunteer to help manage and grow our online presence.

Role: Volunteer Social Media and Public Engagement Officer
Hours: 3 hours per week
Location: Remote (with occasional in-person meetings if required)

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage YoCO’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) by creating and scheduling engaging content.
• Increase our visibility online by responding to comments and messages, and encouraging engagement with our posts.
• Collaborate with our team to promote upcoming events, fundraising efforts, and volunteer opportunities.
• Highlight the successes of our programmes and the young people we work with.

About YoCO: Youth Challenge Oxfordshire is a charity that empowers young people aged 13-21 to build resilience, confidence, and leadership skills through personal challenges and community involvement. 

We are building a team of enthusiastic and personable community engagement volunteers to help us raise the profile of Mental Health Resource within the local community, strengthen relations with local companies and promote and gain support for the charity.

We need a group of community engagement volunteers to provide an active presence at local community events on an ad hoc basis: talking to people to promote our services and encourage engagement with Mental Health Resource.  The sort of tasks that may be involved in the role are: preparing and serving refreshments; taking donations by cash and card; running activities, distributing leaflets and delivering promotional materials to local companies.

We are looking for volunteers with good interpersonal skills who are prepared to volunteer in a variety of settings, at various times.  We require volunteers to have a personal interest in mental health issues and a commitment to Mental Health Resource’s mission and values.  Please note that this role requires the use of a car to travel to events and transport promotional materials.

Winterbourne Medieval Barn is looking to recruit a Trustee with specific responsibility for overseeing the activities of the Events and Publicity Committee.

Immersed in over 600 years of history and heritage, Winterbourne Medieval Barn is based in a conservation area north of Bristol.

Major building works were completed in 2020 with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and many other generous funders and donors to revitalise the whole Barn complex into a community heritage site promoting the knowledge of medieval history, its architecture, agricultural landscape and people.

As a multi-purpose venue, we host a range of activities for the local community including family activities, music and theatre performances, craft workshops, a monthly lecture series, and our flagship annual community events the Medieval Fayre and Orchard Harvest Day.

The private hire of the Barn and its facilities are available all year round and managed separately to the Trust events by the Venue Manager. The Barn and seminar rooms can be hired for weddings, celebration events, film shoots, and meetings.

Day to  day managenent of events is carried out by two part time staff covering events and volunteer management.

Specific Role

To Chair meetings of the Trust’s Events and Publicity Committee and ensure effective decisions are made and responsibilities for actions are carried out.

Specifically supporting the Community Events and Volunteer Coordinators in the planning and budgeting of Trust run events and related publicity.

To present a Trust events report to the Trustees at each ordinary quarterly Trustee Board Meeting.

To present a Trust events financial report to the Finance Committee at each quarterly meeting.

City of Chelmsford Mencap is a small independent charity providing support and structured classes for adults with a learning disability across mid-Essex. Founded in 2010 in America, the It Gets Better Project has since grown into a global movement, with affiliated charities in 20 different countries. We launched in the UK in October 2018 and have grown significantly since then. Our rapidly expanding organisation now includes a newly appointed staff team consisting of a CEO and a Volunteer Coordinator, alongside a dedicated team of volunteers across the UK.

Key areas of expertise and desired backgrounds

• Corporate Partnerships and Strategic Fundraising:
  • Experience in securing and managing corporate partnerships, preferably within the charity sector. Knowledge of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and strategic fundraising initiatives that drive financial support and long-term relationships.
     
• Charity Law:
  • Extensive knowledge of UK charity law, with experience in providing legal advice on governance, compliance, contracts, and safeguarding within a charitable context.
     
• Small Charity Growth and Development:
  • Proven track record in leading or advising small charities through periods of growth. Expertise in strategic planning, resource management, volunteer engagement, and scaling operations sustainably.
     
• Community Engagement and Advocacy:
  • Deep understanding of the LGBTQ+ community, with experience in community organising, advocacy, or public engagement. Ability to build strong relationships with community stakeholders and effectively represent the charity’s mission.

Roles and responsibilities

As a trustee, you will play a critical role in guiding our strategic direction, ensuring good governance, and supporting the delivering of our mission. Your responsibilities will include:

• Strategic Oversight: Collaborate with fellow trustees and staff to develop and implement strategies that align with the charity’s goals and ensure its sustainable growth.
• Advisory Role: Provide expert advice in your area of expertise, whether that be corporate partnerships, legal matters, charity growth, or community engagement.
• Support and Advocacy: Act as an ambassador for the charity, promoting our work and engaging with key stakeholders to advance our mission.
• Operational Input: While our board is transitioning from an operational to a more strategic focus, trustees will still be expected to take on functional roles as needed, especially in areas where the charity requires additional support

Qualifications and skills

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ youth and can bring the following skills and experience:

• Demonstrated commitment to advancing equality and inclusivity within the LGBTQ+ community.
• Relevant professional experience in one or more of the key areas listed above.
• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to contribute to high-level decision-making.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Willingness to dedicate time and expertise to the charity’s success.

Time commitment

• The Board meets at least four times a year.
• It is expected the trustees spent at least two hours a week on their duties.
• As we continue to transition our board to a more strategic focus, trustees may be asked to support operational tasks on an as-needed basis.

About The Role

We're looking for someone to help with the vital work of caring for a wide variety of birds, along with their varied wetland habitats. It's a core part of how we restore wetlands and unlock their power. 

The role includes:

• Learning about best practice in bio-security and animal care, keeping up our high standards
• Helping with bird feeding, bird observation tasks, helping with bird catches and movements, and checking the collection is safe and secure.
• Helping out with maintenance and cleaning of exhibits and collection facilities: from vegetation clearing, to repairing pond edging and cobbling works, cleaning nest boxes and winter hides, and painting and maintaining them.
• Keeping up to date with WWT news and talking to visitors about events and activities that might spark their interest.
• Potentially presenting talks to the public (we'll make sure you have the training you need if you want to do this).  

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need. 

About You

If you want to make a real contribution to WWT's work, in an inspiring environment, this might be the role for you. You'll learn new, transferable skills and be part of a friendly and dedicated team. 

A can-do attitude and willingness to get involved in all weathers are a must. This can be a physically demanding role - you'll be out and about in all weathers.

Having experience in bird keeping and welfare and some practical habitat management would be helpful. The team works closely together, but the willingness to work under your initiative is important. Having, or being happy to develop, the confidence to engage our visitors with the work of WWT is also a key part of this role.

Note - this volunteer role will last 2 months initially, following 2 months of volunteering the incumbent may or may not be asked to stay on as a volunteer in this role. 

Youth Advantage UK are looking to recruit an Assistant Chief Operating Officer who is able to commit time and effort into providing continuity and consistency to the daily operations of the organization while maintaining operational success on a daily basis across the organization through practical strategic management support.

Key responsibilities:

• Be available regularly to support and guide management on complex or challenging matters 

• Support the line management of departmental heads and other management to ensure of operational success on a daily basis 

• To be involved in drafting and developing policy

• To work alongside the Chief Operating Officer to ensure of the smooth operations of the organization

• To be second or third in change of the daily operations of the organization

• To have over 2 years of experience at manager level or above

• To have previously had some responsibility for operations

Bright Futures UK is looking for a compassionate volunteer Primary Tutor in Nottingham to support a young person in year 2 whose education has been impacted by long-term illness. You’ll provide one-on-one tutoring, helping them catch up on schoolwork, boost confidence, and develop key academic skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

What You’ll Do:

• Tutor primary school subjects based on the student’s individual needs.
• Help them regain confidence and thrive academically.
• Create a positive, engaging learning atmosphere.
