Loneliness and isolation can have devastating effects on a person’s mental and physical health. We are a registered charity providing a pathway of support to alleviate the hurt and distress, and the impact on mental and physical health, caused by loneliness and social isolation.
We are looking for Impact volunteers to help us with the monitoring and evaluation of our services so that we can understand the impact of them and make sure we are meeting our aims and fulfilling our remit.
The role involves conducting a survey, mostly over the telephone (there may be face-to-face interviewing opportunities) that helps us measure our impact on loneliness and social isolation.
For all our roles:
Enhanced DBS checks for working with vulnerable adults (formerly called criminal records bureau checks) which we will organise (no cost to this) and two references are required.
For any roles involving driving Archway Friends, we will need to see evidence of insurance and driving license as well as MOT and tax documents for the vehicle to be used.
We will happily cover out of pocket expenses (eg mileage or costs of calls made.).
We provide training relevant to the roles as well as ongoing supervision, guidance and support for all volunteers.

Chair, Treasurer and Trustee Vacancies
Hurst Farm Regeneration Limited, trading as Hurst Farm Wild Works, is a charitable community benefit society established in 2022.
We want to improve the lives and environment of people living on the Hurst Farm Estate in Matlock, Derbyshire. Local residents are working with us to achieve our mission through a range of practical outdoor activities including woodland management, a community garden, dry-stone walling and bee-keeping. Our volunteer programmes help to improve skills and wellbeing for local people. Our aim is to create financial sustainability through the delivery of viable social enterprises on Hurst Farm, which are owned and operated by local people.
We are working closely with Derbyshire Dales District Council on the delivery of the £1.2m National Lottery Heritage Fund funded Hurst Farm Heritage Trail project which is expected to run until the end of 2026. The project aims to improve the existing footpaths around the Hurst Farm Woodland, connecting four heritage sites.
We are being mentored by The Green Estate Community Interest Company, who are using their 25-year experience of building successful national social enterprises on the Manor Estate in Sheffield.
We now need to recruit additional trustees to strengthen the Society’s existing Board which is responsible for areas such as governance, strategic planning, financial oversight, risk management and delivery of the organisation's mission and values.
We are looking for people who can offer knowledge, skills or experience in any of the following areas:

Childline Volunteer Counsellor- Someone who wants to make a difference to children’s lives by being there to listen when they feel they have no one else to turn to. As a Childline counsellor, you’ll be there for young people and listen to them as they open up about whatever is worrying them, whether it’s bullying, abuse, self-harm or family relationships – you’ll be there to support them.
What you’ll do
You’ll volunteer in our Leeds Childline base, offering counselling support to children and young people over the phone or through our 1-2-1 online chat. Your supervisor will help you develop and evaluate your counselling skills. After your initial training, you will be able to help young people as well as identify when a child or young person may be at risk, but don’t worry a supervisor will be on hand to give you plenty of support.
What you’ll get
You’ll receive training sessions over 12 weeks to prepare you for the role. When you start your regular shifts, a supervisor will be around all times to support you. Every shift includes a briefing and debriefing alongside other volunteers. Supervisors will also give you regular one-to-one support and group supervisions.
What we’ll need from you
Signing up to be a Childline counsellor is a big commitment and requires lots of training so, we do ask people to stay in the role for a minimum of one year.
We’ll also need to do some routine safeguarding checks, including an enhanced criminal record check and at least two satisfactory references with at least one covering a period of five years or more with no gaps. It’s nothing to worry about, and we can answer any questions you have about this.

We are a movement of people championing the welfare of cats. We lead society in a richer understanding of all cats and care for those that need our help.
Our Volunteer led branches operate within local communities nationwide and rely on funds donated by generous members of the public to continue to help cats and kittens in need of new homes, supporting owners with neutering, managing trap, neuter and return programmes and educating people about cat welfare.
Our fundraising volunteers are part of a passionate team that help raise funds to help cats. They help plan and deliver exciting and varied fundraising events, which can be anything from craft fairs, cake sales, sponsored abseils – and anything in between!

Retail & Furniture Assembly Volunteers - A New Volunteer Opportunity in Acorns Children's Hospice Superstore in Chelmsley Wood - opening in September
Acorns have a network of shops across the West Midlands that generate a substantial level of income to enable us to care for children and their families.
To help us to continue to provide the care that we do, we are looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers to join us in our Chelmsley Wood shop. Our shops are exciting and dynamic, with no two days being the same. From our walk-in customers, to receiving donations, and everything in between
Additionally, we are looking for empowered Furniture Assembly Volunteers. In this hands-on role, you will assist with constructing and dismantling flat-pack furniture, beds, and other large items. Don’t worry if you’re new to this—full training will be provided!
How much time will it take?
Our shops are open Monday to Saturday (some open on Sundays too), 9am to 5pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but ideally we’ll need you to volunteer for at least 3 hours per week.

We are urgently looking for 2 experienced email marketing volunteers to join our communications team.
You will be a big link to our charity's clients who are vulnerable and isolated, to them learning more about events, our latest articles, fundraising events as well as ensuring they are aware of the services that we offer that be of help to them. You will also be helping us to raise awareness of this devastating chronic condition.
Even though we are a small organisation we have big ideas and having regular contact through emails and newsletters will show consistency and know they can rely on us to be there for them.
We would like the volunteer to help with:
- Email content: Develop our communication & marketing content calendar, write compelling regular email content, including calls for donations & support, that is relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates;
- Email content (membership): Create a regular email newsletter for our membership scheme
- Create a number of automated email series - for donors, members, fundraisers and more
- Newsletter strategy: Help us plan and articulate how we can use emails and newsletters to strengthen our organisation, motivate our supporters and communicate with our sponsors;
- Design and implement campaigns and promotional activity

Age UK Birmingham teams up with the Dementia Carers Hub to offer specialized groups that include vital peer support, activities, and awareness sessions for those looking after people with dementia.
Volunteers are essential in running these weekly groups, leading activities, and helping to create a friendly atmosphere. Tasks include setting up the room including refreshments, guiding discussions, organizing activities, and keeping track of attendance.

Volunteers should enjoy working in a team, be dependable, and be eager to support older individuals through enjoyable activities and meaningful interactions. This opportunity not only allows volunteers to make a real difference in the lives of dementia carers but also provides personal growth through training and community engagement
- For our Monday Erdington and Wednesday Sutton Coldfield groups, the ideal people for this role should have qualities like empathy, patience, and friendliness. While some knowledge of dementia is helpful, it's not mandatory and training in dementia skills will be provided and encouraged.
- For our Thursday Oscott group, where the group is for people with dementia and their carers, in addition to above, experience of working with or caring for someone with dementia is essential.
Additionally, volunteers will have their travel costs and any relevant expenses covered, and will undergo necessary background checks for everyone's safety.

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, so most of the care that we provide is funded through fundraising and through our shops.
To help us to continue to provide the care that we do, we are looking for fun and enthusiastic volunteers to join us in our Kingswinford Shop. Our shops are exciting and dynamic, with no two days being the same. From our walk-in customers, to receiving donations, and everything in between
As a Shop Volunteer with us, you will be:
- Engaging with customers
- Accepting and sorting donated stock
- Pricing donations for sale
- Working on the till
Our shops are open Monday to Saturday (some open on Sundays too) 9am to 5pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but it would be great if you could support in the shop for at least 3 hours a week.
