Why we need you?
The Halifax Charity Gala is organised by a committee of local volunteers in their spare time. The work required to plan and execute the gala is quite large & growing, with Committee members working all year round to support the 40 or so local good causes we represent. This all requires keeping the public (our customers) updated with relevant information, as well as openly engaging with our member organisations & suppliers.
What will you be doing?
Helping to organise Calderdale’s longest-running annual not-for-profit family event! On a more practical level, you’ll be sharing confirmed information (such as the arena acts, the Procession floats, where tickets are on sale) proactively on our social media channels, as well as republishing the posts into relevant groups. You may also post “call outs” for local performance groups, specialist vehicle owners, independent traders, etc to apply to be part of our next event. Furthermore, you’ll respond to any comments/replies/messages received, forwarding the query to the appropriate team internally if required.
As the Social Media Officer, over Gala weekend you will be asked to share photographs captured by our volunteer photographers, repost content shared by members of the public, and schedule “coming next” posts for our timetable of events.
What skills do you need?
You will need to be able to communicate well in written English. You’ll need access to a suitable device which can access Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn & X, and you’ll need your own accounts on those (so we can grant you permission to act as our channels).
How much time do you need to commit?
Scheduling proactive posts can be done at any time to suit you; over winter months, this may only amount to an hour per month, but as the event gets closer, could take 2-3 hours per week. Responding to comments/etc varies, though in winter is likely less than an hour per month, but in May & June can be 2-3 hours per week; this can be done flexibly to suit you, if notifications are responded to within a reasonable time.
Regular meetings over the year. These are held on weekday evenings usually once a month; we have an additional one in May as well as two charity meetings a year. You should aim to be able to attend every meeting, however there is provision in our constitution to attend our meetings virtually (via a web browser or mobile app).
As much time as possible over the weekend of the second Saturday in June, although this is not a requirement as we do have some Committee members that cannot help with setup or take down.
What support will you be given?
You can always speak to anyone else on the committee or the one of the other officers. We work as a supportive team and help each other when workloads are high, or life gets in the way.

· Endurance as the days can be quite long, and we have no control over the weather. It can be cold and wet or extremely hot – this is the UK!

We have events in Brighton, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Sussex, Scotland. You don’t need to be able to travel to all these areas. Just let us know when you apply which areas would be better suites to you.
How long would I be required at the event.
It depends on the event; a normal event day starts at 9am and ends by 3pm. This is subject to change depending on the event and we are flexible, let us know the times you are available, and we will try to make it work for you.

Time Commitment
This role requires chairing quarterly trustee meetings alongside additional ad hoc meetings as needed. You will also play an active role in strategic planning, governance, and representing the charity at key events.

�� Flexibility is required for additional meetings and events as needed.
Term
This is a fixed term role. One third (or the number nearest one third) of the Trustees must retire at each AGM, those longest in office retiring first and the choice between any of equal service being made by drawing lots. Trustees can stand to be re-elected for another term.
Your Support
Long Covid Support has been instrumental in providing patient and public voices to all responses to Long Covid across the four nations of the United Kingdom. Our organisation comprises people with lived experience of Long Covid, medical researchers and other interested supporters. We are governed by a board of Trustees and have an operations committee who run our day-to-day activities, supported by the work of the Finance & Fundraising and Communications committees. Our work focuses on peer support, advocacy and research involvement.
Our trustees are jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Long Covid Support, its financial health, probity of its activities, and for setting and overseeing the delivery of the organisation’s aims and objectives. In addition to being a registered charity, the Charity is a company limited by guarantee and, as such, our trustees are also appointed as its company directors. This is an exciting time to be joining Long Covid Support as we launch our future strategy and are the appointed secretariat to the Long Covid APPG.

Our Staffordshire Independent Visitor Service is looking for volunteers in or near to Swadlincote.

You do not need experience of working with children and young people, just an interest in their development and welfare. Full training and support are provided.

- Amy (12) lives with an older carer, she would like an active Independent Visitor who can do sports with her.
- Brad (13) lives in residential care with other young people, he doesn’t have anyone in his family visit. He would like an Independent Visitor to take him out and have fun, like the other young people.
- Cassie (16) lives with carers in a new town, she doesn’t have any friends in the area yet. She would like an Independent Visitor to help with her confidence and going out in the local area, she loves hot chocolate and cake.
- Danny (11) lives with foster carers and attends a special school. He would like an Independent Visitor to help him be more independent, he likes parks, aeroplanes, and animals.
- Emma (9) lives with her carer in a very busy household, she would like an Independent Visitor to spend some time with her on her own trying different activities together.

now-u is a new non-profit app, launched in July 2020, with a mission to inform, involve and inspire people to help tackle some of the world’s most pressing environmental and social problems. In these unprecedented times, we cannot ‘go back to normal’. TRUSTEE OPPORTUNITY
The charity are looking to appoint three Trustees and have identified the following skill areas of interest;
- HR experience - Ideally leading HR strategy, ensuring legal compliance, delivering L&D strategy, pay & reward frameworks and fostering a positive work culture
- Policy, Influencing & Public Affairs experience - ideally working in policy, influencing and/or public affairs. We would also welcome media partnerships and media campaigns experience
- Fundraising strategy and implementation experience - Ideally at Fundraising Director level or have undertaken this role prior to moving to a broader role. Ideally you will have an understanding of a broad range of income generation with experience of leading supporter engagement strategies and successfully increasing reach
The charity are looking to improve the diversity on their Board, including ethnicity, socio-economic and applicants who have connections to underserved communities. About Cards for Bravery
Cards for Bravery is a small registered charity dedicated to brightening the days of hospitalised and seriously ill children. We do this through services such as the distribution of positive handmade cards, bravery packages, activity packs, and more. Our mission is to provide moments of joy and comfort to children and families facing challenging circumstances and to help improve their mental wellbeing.
We are looking to grow and diversify our trustee board to ensure we have the skills, perspectives, and experiences needed to drive our charity forward.
What Does Being a Trustee Mean?
As a trustee, you will play a vital role in overseeing the governance and strategic direction of Cards for Bravery. You will help ensure the charity fulfils its mission, operates responsibly, and delivers real impact for the children and families we support. Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals. If you have not been a trustee before, you can also read The Charity Commission publication ‘The Essential Trustee’ which sets out the legal duties you have as a trustee.
What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our board of trustees. We are open to applications from all personal and professional backgrounds. You do not need previous governance experience. Any necessary training will be provided.
We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

Duties and Responsibilities
As a trustee, you will have duties and responsibilities such as:

Ensure the charity operates legally, ethically, and in line with its objectives.

Helping shape and oversee the charity’s strategic direction.

Help review and approve the organisations financial statements, annual reports, policies and procedures and other relevant paperwork

Attend regular board meetings (approximately 5-6 a year) and participate in decision-making.

Act as an ambassador for Cards for Bravery and its mission.
As a small, volunteer-run charity, our trustees also play an active role in shaping and guiding the charity's activities and decisions by offering practical advice, supporting key projects, and ensuring smooth operations, where needed and possible.

Description
We are urgently looking for 2 experienced email marketing volunteers to join our communications team. Our charity delivers awareness campaigns by email and a range of support services to patients, relatives, partners and carers who have been affected by a debilitating chronic condition; Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).
You will be a big link to our charity's clients who are vulnerable and isolated, to them learning more about events, our latest articles, fundraising events as well as ensuring they are aware of the services that we offer that be of help to them. You will also be helping us to raise awareness of this devastating chronic condition.
We regularly contact our supporters and members through general emails and infirmative newsletters will show consistency and know they can rely on us to be there for them.
We would like the volunteer to help with:
- Email content Creation: Develop an email marketing content calendar, write compelling regular email content, including calls for donations & support, that is relevant and has clear a call-to-action and high click through rates;
- Email content creation (membership): Create a regular quarterly newsletters for our membership scheme
- Create a number of automated email series - for donors, members, fundraisers and more
- Newsletter strategy: Help us plan and articulate how we can use emails and newsletters to strengthen our organisation, motivate our supporters and communicate with our sponsors;
- Design and implement campaigns and promotional activity
What are you looking for in a volunteer?
We are looking for 2 volunteers who have:
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Good communicator
- Good computer skills and a willingness to be contacted via email and/or video chat
- Experience using email marketing software - specifically Mailchimp
- Marketing skills
- Experience of working on marketing strategies
- Ability to quickly understand the needs of our team, organisation and our services users (we are not expecting you to know about the condition we support)
- Can ask key questions to enable us to clarify requirements
- Understands the resource constraints of a small charity and is able to work with these

- Ability to work flexibly on your own or as part of a team with enthusiasm and commitment

About YAUK
Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organization that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects that aim to promote and further the human rights of young people aged 11 to 25 across the United Kingdom.
