Job Synopsis
The MCC Rwanda/Burundi Representative(s) are responsible for providing overall leadership to a complex and multi-faceted MCC program. This includes responsibility for administrative operations, team building, strategic directions, and support of MCC’s partners and projects in the two countries. The Reps supervise and support a team of eleven program and administrative staff in two offices (Kigali and Bujumbura) including National Staff, expatriate International Staff, and one-year young adult participants in Global Service Learning (GSLers). In Rwanda and Burundi, the Reps oversee work with 10 partner organizations implementing 11 projects in each sector in which MCC works: food security, sustainable livelihoods, education, peacebuilding, and health. MCC staff support partners in the planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes; in organizational capacity building; and with technical expertise. The Reps organize and lead an annual team gathering and an annual partner gathering. They also maintain strong relationships with the Friends Church in both countries. In Rwanda and Burundi, MCC has developed long-term relationships with faith-based partners, most of whom operate with a peace lens and many with connections to the Friends Church. There are two large-complex food-security projects (one in each country) funded by the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB), which have significant expectations for reporting and for data collection and analysis. MCC’s support of peacebuilding has been longstanding in the two countries and currently includes the Great Lakes Peacebuilding Institute and youth peace clubs. MCC Rwanda/Burundi is also playing a significant role in the development and implementation of the MCC Africa strategic peacebuilding goals. The education projects include a vocational education project in each country as well as a K-12 school in a marginalized, rural community in Burundi. The Reps represent MCC to government authorities, other international NGOs, churches, and partners and in Rwanda and in Burundi. The Reps participate in annual Southern Central Africa and Nigeria (SCAN) Regional Meetings of MCC leadership and are supervised by the Area Directors for Southern Central Africa and Nigeria based in Kigali.

Key Responsibilities

2. Oversight of Country Program - Direct and oversee implementation of regional priorities and country-specific strategies

d. Facilitate, coordinate and respond to disasters, including those that generate unexpected additional resources and require shifts in focus of time/energy and requiring development of immediate and/or short term plans

3. Management of MCC Resources
a. Prepare, monitor and evaluate annual goals and objectives in the context of a multi-year strategic plan
b. Prepare and monitor budgets in accordance with strategic and annual plans and in alignment with Financial Management Policies
c. Develop and monitor financial record-keeping and reporting, taking corrective action where needed
d. Develop and maintain lists of inventories of equipment, including computers, vehicles, etc. along with replacement plans e. Maintain and update registration documents in respective countries
f. Ensure resource stewardship across the country
g. Prepare and monitor project reporting
h. Receive and respond to worker reports
i. Ensure maintenance of personnel records and other documents for MCC Records and Archives
j. Manage Material Resources distribution as needed
k. Provide information about the country situation.... through PlanWin, Annual Plans and Reports, Learning Tours, and written communication.
4. Select, supervise, and motivate MCC workers: International Service Workers, International Staff and National staff
a. Negotiate suitable assignments and write assignment descriptions
b. Select highly qualified international staff and national staff using predetermined criteria based on job content and organizational values
c. Provide orientation for new workers, including language study
d. Create an environment where all individuals are comfortable openly addressing concerns/opinions
e. Ensure spiritual, emotional and professional support for workers
f. Monitor relationships between workers and partners with whom they work
g. Implement MCC Human Resource policies and assist in policy interpretation for workers
h. Conduct timely performance appraisals and End-of-Term reports for service workers and international staff

Location Description
The MCC Representative(s) are based in Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali. Kigali is a pleasant place to live, with mild weather, manageable traffic, low crime rates, a wide range of products available, and plenty of restaurants and shops.
Kigali has a “small town” flavor but is also home to a cosmopolitan community of Africans and non-Africans from around the world. In many ways, it is clean and progressive, with a fast pace of economic development and many consumer goods and services available.
Both English and French are spoken in Rwanda, although most Rwandans speak only Kinyarwanda. About 10 years ago, English was made the second official language (along with Kinyarwanda and instead of French), and most Rwandese organizations and schools are still working to improve their English.
Good educational, health, and dental facilities are available, but health care options are limited when compared to North America or Europe.

We’re AMP, and we’re a youth music development charity. We champion the transformative potential of music for children and young people. Music has the power to change lives – raising aspirations, enabling personal and social development, enhancing career prospects. We work with trusted partners to deliver high quality music making activities to those in challenging circumstances, including rural isolation and economic deprivation. We are here to strengthen and support the sector through workforce development and the building of strategic partnerships, and we advocate for the wide-ranging benefits of music-making. Our story began in 2001, as AMP, with the vision that all young people in North Yorkshire should have the opportunity to actively engage in music, regardless of their circumstances. Since 2019 we have engaged over 12,000 young people and their families in person, making us one of the biggest music and education charities in the region. And we’ve reached a further 432,000 online!
Why become a trustee?
As a trustee, you can make a real difference that can help countless others realise and achieve their musical potential, develop new skills and help them in their future careers. Being a trustee will provide you with insight into how charities are run and developed, as well as providing a platform to get actively involved in discussions about future projects, directly contributing to AMP’s work. This is a huge opportunity to contribute to shaping positive futures for children and young people with the least opportunity, especially those in rurally-isolated areas.
We’re proud that we reflect young people’s voices on our board. Currently only 3% of trustees in the UK are under the age of 30, yet 45% of AMP’s trustees are under 30. Young trustees who join us will gain valuable transferable skills for future employment.
What does it involve?
You will be expected to attend four meetings a year. This is a voluntary position, but you will have travel reimbursed. Trustees are involved in governance and strategic guidance but not in the delivery of operations. Their role is to ensure the charity is successfully delivering its aims and objectives. AMP will support all new trustees through a process of induction, training and mentoring. You do not need to be based in North Yorkshire, and many of our meetings take place online. You do not need any former trustee experience to commit to this role.

Trustee Duties include:
· Attending meetings four times a year (one every 3 months, usually in March, June, September and December). Meeting last between 1½ and 2 hours. We are flexible in scheduling meeting times, to reflect the availability of trustees. We usually meet online with an annual in-person meeting in York.

· Maintain contact with AMP staff, providing your opinion on particular matters as required.

Ikoku Protection and Justice
Ikoku Protection and Justice empowers and supports juvenile offenders in Uganda through legal aid, psychosocial support, advocacy and stakeholder capacity building trainings to create a child-friendly justice system.
The lack of accessible and comprehensive legal Aid for juvenile offenders has led to countless wrongful detentions and prosecutions thus leading to congestion in the remand homes.
According to a 2021 UNICEF report, around 261,200 children worldwide are estimated to have been in detention on any given day in 2020. SheCanDo is a women empowerment organization focused on breaking gender biases, promoting gender equality, and fostering workplace inclusion.
Across Nigeria and beyond, women and girls continue to face systemic barriers that limit their access to leadership, innovation, and economic opportunities. Develop and execute SheCanDo’s fundraising and partnership strategy.
Research and apply for grants, sponsorships, and funding opportunities.

Write compelling fundraising proposals and sponsorship pitches.
Lead and coordinate fundraising campaigns and donor engagement.
Collaborate closely with the Executive Assistant, Founder, and program teams.

The Board of Elmore Community Services is looking for new Trustees to lead the organisation at an important stage in its development.
Elmore was founded in 1989 and has successfully supported hundreds of with people with multiple and complex needs to live active and fulfilling lives. The charity specialises in working with individuals who, for whatever reason, find other mental health services hard to access and can be left unsupported at critical times.
Elmore’s clients may have mental health needs and people experiencing homelessness or unstable housing, individuals who are coping with the long-term impact of substance misuse, alcohol dependency, domestic abuse and neglect.
We are committed to persevering, trying out different approaches to engage the person and build up their trust in support services possibly for the first time.
This is vital work, and Trustees find contributing to the Board and the overall strategy and impact of Elmore highly worthwhile.

At The Mental Health Community we use our lived experience to build understanding and support for what it’s like to live and work alongside managing a mental health condition.
We know that it can be difficult to get, or keep a job if your energy levels, how you’re feeling and your ability to go to a place of work every day are affected by a mental health condition like anxiety or depression. But we also know that having a sense of purpose and belonging can really help with the symptoms and impact that mental health conditions can have on you.
Our work is focused on helping people with a mental health condition who are in work or looking for work. We do this by supporting businesses to improve how they look after people, because we know that by creating inclusive and safe spaces at work we make it possible for people with mental ill health to stay in the workplace which helps keep them well and benefits the businesses too.
By joining our board you will be:
- Making a lasting impact by helping us make more workplaces safe and inclusive for people with a mental health condition
- Shaping the future of our charity as we expand our services and reach more people who need our support
- Using your skills and experience for good by helping guide the strategic direction of our charity.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for at least 4 new trustees to join our team. Whatever your skillset, we’d love to hear from you and there are some areas where we need particular help:
· Treasurer: oversee our financial health, provide guidance on building long term financial plans to help us grow and ensure appropriate financial management.
· Marketing and Communications: strategic oversight of our marketing and communications, raising awareness of our work and reaching new audiences through digital strategies and media engagement.
· Fundraising: develop our fundraising strategy and income streams, including grant applications, corporate sponsorship and campaigns.
· Governance: guide us in operating transparently and effectively whilst maintaining high standards of governance in compliance with our governing document and charity law.
We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental ill health, young people aged 18-30, people of all socio-economic backgrounds, genders and people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.
About the role
As a board of trustees we meet remotely every 6 weeks, there may be some activity in between meetings so the estimated total time commitment is 4 hours every 6 weeks.
In addition to using your specific skills to develop how we work, all trustees share responsibility for:
· Developing our activities to help us achieve our purpose and positive impact,
· Making sure we are compliant with our governing document and the requirements of the Charity Commission, and
· Being an active member of the board to help us make good decisions

We are committed to supporting our Trustees: you can expect an induction to the organisation and trustee role plus any additional conversations and support you need to help you feel confident in your role.
Our meetings are relaxed and informal; there are no expectations of ‘business clothes’, technical jargon or having all the answers.
