​We hold new volunteer inductions at the start of each term, so apply ASAP to be in time to join our next induction.

Action for Refugees in Lewisham works to relieve poverty and isolation amongst refugees, asylum seekers and other vulnerable migrants in Lewisham. At the Rainbow Club supplementary school we aim to help children between the ages of 4 and 11 to improve their literacy, numeracy and social skills in a friendly and supportive environment.  We need your skills and enthusiasm to assist the teacher in the delivery of a literacy and numeracy class and work with other volunteers to develop a programme of recreational activities. The Rainbow Club runs on Saturday mornings during term-time.

Your duties will include:

• Arriving punctually for the 9am briefing by the Rainbow Club Headteacher;
• Working in a team with other volunteers and teachers to deliver literacy, numeracy, arts, sport activities – this includes ensuring children remain engaged throughout the lesson and carry out set tasks as instructed by the teacher;
• Working one-to-one with specific children if and when required;
• Filing classroom work and homework in children’s individual files and keeping all materials and resources tidy and properly stored;
• Liaising with parents as and when required for example distributing leaflets and news about future meetings and events and also assisting with parents' day;
• Following the teacher’s policies on discipline and classroom management;
• Supervising the children during break times;
• Supporting the children during class trips;
• Ensuring classrooms are clean and tidy at the end of each day – this may include being part of a regular team rota;
• Providing feedback and comments to the volunteer coordinator and Rainbow Club manager when required.

Provide holistic end-of-life care to people who are suffering of a terminal illness, under the direction of the Palliative Care Nurse Team Leader. By caring for those often isolated, hopeless, and fearful, this position is a living example of God’s love and compassion for the weak, lonely, and marginalised members of society. This position works primarily off-ship; hot and dusty or wet (depending on season) conditions can be expected. Visiting people in their house requires cultural sensitivity.

What You Will Contribute

• Support terminally ill patients and their family members through the grieving process, preparing them for death

• Train and assist family members with wound care for the afflicted person

• Share basic health principles with terminally ill patients and family members in order to improve their health

• Encourage the use of local, affordable materials for wound care and locally available analgesia

• Encourage the family to find ways to be self-supporting and teach them about planning for the future

• Assist in reaching out to local healthcare professionals who care for palliative patients, build meaningful relationships, assess their practical and intellectual needs and assist them in sustainable and culturally appropriate ways, through mentoring and teaching

The Helena Kennedy Foundation exists to overcome social injustice by providing financial bursaries, mentoring and support to disadvantaged students from the further and adult education sectors, enabling them to complete their studies in higher education and move on successfully into employment.

Founded in 1998 the organisation relies completely on donations and receives funding from a variety of funding sources, including Universities, Trusts, Foundations, colleges and many more.

The President, Patrons, Trustees and Chair of the Foundation are all volunteers. They are actively involved in promoting the work of the Foundation, in business planning, fundraising, and performance management. The Foundation's work and reputation continue to grow with strong support from the further education sector as well as in higher education.

The Role

As a Treasurer you will be responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the organisation and ensuring they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice. Duties will include:

• Ensuring funds are invested and used sensibly, in a strategic way to support and develop the organisation
• Agreeing and presenting finances at Trustees’ meetings, with support of the office
• Acting as a point of contact for the office for day to day and on-going financial queries
• Agreeing financial decisions as part of staffing reviews, with the Chair
• Deputising for the Chair / Vice-Chair as need arises

The Person  

To be considered for this unique and exciting opportunity you should have a natural leadership ability, integrity and a have meticulous eye for detail. You must demonstrate good and independent judgement with an ability to make decisions for the good of the organisation. You should come from a financial or accounts background, and ideally have an understanding of the financial landscape in the charity sector.

From a practical perspective, you must have a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to fulfil required duties and an ability to work effectively as a member of a geographically dispersed team. The board hold remote meetings four times per year which you would be expected to attend.

Our Marketing volunteers play an essential role in building our capability and capacity through:

We’re currently looking for a marketing volunteer who will focus on designing/sourcing visual images and digital resources to support our campaigns in the media, and who ideally has some experience of using Canva, Flourish or equivalent software to support our messaging.

Our friendly team will provide you with training and support to develop in your role. You’ll have the opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience and learn about the diverse work of CPRE London.

This is a home-based role with some attendance at meetings (ideally Wednesdays) including online meetings and events. We provide out-of-pocket travel expenses should this be required. Ideally we are seeking someone who can volunteer 3-7 hours per week, flexibly and is able to give an ongoing commitment.

Barnet SASS provides practical and emotional support to anyone aged 16+ who resides in the Borough of Barnet and experiencing domestic abuse, honour based violence and forced marriage. We have various groups running within the Barnet Service throughout the year. We are also one of the lead DV agency for the One-Stop Shop which is an advice surgery provided by some agencies including,  housing, anti-social behaviour officer from the Barnet Homes, family solicitors, and cybercare.

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and organised volunteer to assist our duty team, supporting survivors in an advocacy and admin role. Barnet SASS is a busy service, which receives many referrals every day. You will be supporting our duty team to process referrals and key admin work. If you are interested, you can also be trained to contact clients, making initial welcome or check in calls. You will be in the office in Barnet one day a week on Friday to support with this.

• Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by your supervisor.

You will receive training and experience in using a case management system, safeguarding, talking to survivors and processing referrals. You will be part of an inclusive and dynamic team and have opportunities to shadow different roles to develop knowledge and skills. We also offer great volunteer induction training, where you will be fully supported to understand and carry put every aspect of the role. Training includes CPD accredited courses, and the opportunity to apply to complete the Tackling and Preventing Domestic Abuse Award (DAPA), which is recognized by the Home Office.

Volunteering for Sense

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Key Volunteer:

Our Key Volunteer role is an extra level of responsibility for someone who can commit to supporting their local Sense Shop on a regular basis. Once you've had all the training, you'll be getting involved by:

• Learning and following fire procedures.
• Open and close the shop when necessary to support the Shop Manager.
• Cash up the till at the end of the day.

• Reliable, flexible and willing to do a variety of shop tasks

• Friendly and helpful
