ParaPride is an empowerment charity that advocates for the visibility, education and awareness of LGBTQ+ disabled people. We are a non-profit grassroots organisation focusing on the intersection of disability and LGBTQ+. We're entirely run by volunteers and our lived experiences stand at the core of our charity values.
We endeavour to meet the needs of the LGBTQ+ and disabled communities through a variety of complementary activities including:

Creating education and awareness around the need for greater visibility of the communities we serve within the wider LGBTQ+ and disabled communities;

Creating and promoting online and offline activities and events to foster understanding of the experience of being LGBTQ+ and disabled people and to bring the communities we serve together;

Working with other organisations to further educate and expose the wider public to the challenges faced by the communities we serve and opportunities that are presented when including them; and,

Commissioning or conducting research to substantiate the prioritisation of issues impacting the communities we serve.
As a relatively new charity, we will be developing our approach over the next couple of years to further our charitable objects and to serve the LGBTQ+ and disabled communities in the most effective way.
About the role
After several years of relying on the efforts from our Co-Founders, Trustees and temporary volunteers we are looking to take the next step in our growth journey through the placement of our first volunteer recruiter.
This role will work closely with Daniele, ParaPride’s Co-founder and Community Engagement Director and the Board of Trustees to identify the skills and capacity required to run the organisation and sourcing candidates to meet them. It will also play a crucial role in developing Parapride’s volunteer benefits package and talent acquisition strategy.
We are expecting that the roles that this role will be involved in hiring will initially be focused on supporting ParaPride’s core operations (marketing, events and web development) but could include placements in finance, legal, compliance and HR in the future.
Duties

Collaborate with ParaPride’s Co-founder and Board of Trustees to identify and prioritise required skills to run the organisation effectively.

Develop a strategy for acquiring talent that is inclusive and accessible such that our LGBTQ+ disabled community are given full opportunity to be able to be involved. Provide feedback on practices and policies to support this.

Develop and review role descriptions for required roles and advertise across appropriate channels.

Screen and shortlist candidates as appropriate, coordinate interview loops and manage candidate communications.

Carry out pre-volunteering checks, including references and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks where appropriate.

Support volunteer onboarding by coordination the execution of volunteer agreements and creating onboarding plans.

In partnership with marketing team members, develop content to share across web and social channels to promote benefits and opportunities for potential candidates to get involved.

Support in the development of a benefits package to support in the acquisition of volunteers (non-salaried).

We expect that hiring this role will be a critical step in ParaPride’s development as being able to engage with people willing and able to support our cause is the only way for us to be able to grow our operations to provide better support for more LGBTQ+ disabled people and deliver more training and workshops to enable others to be become better allies.
About you
We are looking for someone with 3+ years experience in recruitment (any field) . We also encourage students and graduates who can demonstrate strong alignment with our mission, vision and values.
We are dedicated to ensuring that this role is a productive professional development experience for the incumbent and welcome suggestions from potential candidates on how we might support their specific goals.
We strongly welcome candidates that have lived experiences of being disabled and/or LGBTQ+, although this not an explicit requirement
Level of commitment
We are a growing charity and while it is our goal to provide financial compensation for this role in the future, we are unable to initially. In full transparency, this is only an indication of our ambition and will be dependent on a lot of factors linked to appropriate funding. We are dedicated to being fully respectful of your time, but expect a minimum contribution of 8 hours per month on average (varying according to demand), remote, completely flexible and at time convenient to you.

• The Fundraising and Financial Management vertical covers fundraising and money matters: This team is all about finding resources—like getting donations and grants—to keep our programmes strong and healthy.They will spend their time writing fantastic letters, sponsorship proposals and funding requests on behalf of Barawak as a whole, but also (supporting programme leads) to specific organisations for Barawak service lines.
• The Partnership Development and Collaboration vertical covers building bridges: They're the connectors, making friends with other groups, businesses, and everyone who can help us grow.
• The Volunteer Engagement vertical covers welcoming our helpers: This bunch is in charge of gathering our most valuable resource—people like you who want to volunteer and make a difference.

The role of the Treasurer

The Vice Chairs’ role is to support the Chair in executing their duties. The Vice Chair continues to fulfil all those duties assumed when he/she became a trustee as outlined in the document The Trustee Board, Role and Responsibilities. The Vice Chair will assume the role of Chair in the absence of the chair. To this end, their duties are similar in that the Vice Chair will be expected to provide leadership in giving firm strategic direction to the charity and will be responsible for ensuring that the board meets regularly, keeps transparent records, agrees priorities, and ensures that the charity’s income sources, and expenditure allow it to meet its charitable aims. This includes:
- Ensuring the Chair has all information he/she requires in order to carry out their role to the best of their ability.
- The Vice Chair will discuss and offer his/her advice to the Chair based on her understandingof the charity’s’ vision, values, mission, strategy and policy when the documents are due to be reviewed.
- The Vice Chair may be, on occasion expected to represent the Chair at external functions and events. The Vice Chair must always act in the best interest of the charity.
- The Vice Chair will act as a point of contact for the trustees and others between formal meetings when the chair is unavailable.
- The Vice Chair will ensure that regular meetings are held between the Chair and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to discuss any managerial issues and strategy.
- The Vice Chair must remain abreast of the laws and regulations relating to the charity’s’ activities.
- The Vice Chair will support the Chair in monitoring the financial stability of the charity.

Our partner supports individuals and research institutions in the Global South to produce, share and use research and knowledge to transform lives, and provide support to researchers globally through their online community platform.
They are seeking a new Treasurer to join their existing board in leading the organisation through their next exciting period of change. While they are seeking someone with knowledge of UK charity finance and legal requirements, they are particularly interested to hear from candidates from the Global South, wherever their current location.
The Treasurer will monitor the financial administration of the charity and report to the board of trustees at regular intervals on its state of financial health, in line with best practice, and in compliance with legal requirements.
The Treasurer role will require approximately 10-12 days per annum, including three Board meetings, two of which are usually virtual, and occasional virtual meetings with the Executive Director, Finance Manager, and Auditor. In addition, the Treasurer will chair the Finance and Audit sub-committee.

Introduction
CRRC is a registered charity with the primary object of supporting refugees and displaced persons in Cambridge and Cambridgeshire. The charity is lead by the Board of Trustees of which the Treasurer is an ex-officio member. (S)he is subject to the decisions of the Board.
The role
The Treasurer will hold the CRRC’s Trustees to account for the Charity’s finances and vision, maintain financial control and ensure we comply with our legal responsibilities as a Registered Charity. The Treasurer will work with all members of the team to ensure that there is a transparent and clear financial process. As Treasurer to the Charity, you will also become a Trustee. Trustees are expected to understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship and understand their role as a Trustee.
The role is mainly online with occasional in person meetings in Cambridge. The expected hours will vary between 2 to 6 hours per week with a flexible working arrangement. The position is unpaid. Expenses incurred in undertaking the role will be reimbursed.
A competent treasurer or part-qualified bookkeeper or accountant would be ideal. Experience in the charity field is desirable but not essential.
Our bank is the Co-operative Bank. There is no branch in Cambridge, so all transactions are electronic or by post.
The duties of the Treasurer
- Budgets The Treasurer co-ordinates the production of an annual budget, in conjunction with Group leaders. Details are kept on excel spreadsheets.
- Financial Reports will be presented to the Board every quarter, setting out the income, expenditure and balance against budget at the end of each quarter. In addition to providing the Board with an overview of the financial position of CRRC, these reports should help the Board to understand trends and pressures and help the Board to understand how CRRC is using funds to support its objective.
- Financial records These are now only kept electronically, using excel spreadsheets. The existing spreadsheets have been set up by the present Treasurer, but could be modified if improvements are considered advantageous.
- Receipts are from various sources, as standing orders, bank transfers, cheques and through Kindlink, Paypal, CAF and payroll deductions. Cash is rarely used.
- Gift Aid The treasurer is responsible for making claims for Gift Aid and for keeping Gift Aid forms.
- Payments All payments must have signed off by a Trustee responsible for the budget heading. The vast majority are by bank transfer. Claims for payment are made on an electronic form to the Treasurer, who then sets up a bank transfer which is forwarded to the signatories for approval. This gives final authorisation for the bank transfer to take place. The Treasurer must check that the form is correctly filled in and the payment requested is in line with relevant e-mails and overall CRRC policy. A bank card is used for a limited number of specific payments. The number of payments varies each month. In 2022-23 there were 270 payments across the year.
- Restricted and designated funds In addition to the main CRRC fund, there are currently 3 restricted/designated funds. These funds use the same bank account, but its transactions are recorded separately.
- Annual accounts The Treasurer is responsible for producing annual accounts after the end of the financial year, which runs from 1 July to 30 June. These are then presented in draft to the Board before being submitted to an Independent Examiner. The Treasurer then passes the approved annual account summary to the relevant Trustee for submission to the Charity Commission (Annual report and financial accounts 2022.)

- Supporting volunteers The Treasurer is also responsible for informing volunteers about the process for payments, including through relevant updates to process documents, and may be required from time to time to contribute to updated guidance for volunteers.
Additional notes
The current treasurer will be training the new treasurer and will remain available to support the new treasurer. The main reason for the stepping back of the current treasurer is to make time for the current treasurer to drive and oversee important changes and adaptations to facilitate the financial management of CRRC and to be more closely involved in the overall governance of our charity.
CRRC intends to adopt a digital payments system in 2024-25, in order to streamline the payment process for CRRC’s volunteers, budget approvers, bank signatories, and for the Treasurer. CRRC is also exploring changing the bank account.
It is possible that the number of restricted/designated bank accounts may be reduced.
