Crossroads Care Kent is the leading Carers Charity in Kent, delivering care and support for people living with the challenges of caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend. As a well-established Charity for over 40 years, we support over 6000 people across Kent every year and continue to make a positive input on the community.
With 1 in 10 people having caring responsibilities it is more than likely that you or someone you know have been a carer, are a carer or may become an unpaid carer at some point in life.
We are looking for a new Trustee to join our established Board, bringing oversight, strategic scrutiny, and innovation with a mix of business skills and experience that make a real difference to this wonderful organisation. With a new CEO in place supported by a highly motivated, caring workforce, and a Board with a wide range of experience, this is an exciting time to join the team to help steer it through its next stage of development.

Time Commitment

We’re looking for a motivated finance professional to provide financial direction to our local advice charity and help us improve our long-term financial sustainability. The Treasurer is an officer of the Trustee Board and not a paid member of staff. The purpose of the role is to ensure that the charity’s finances and supporting financial control systems are robust and comply with relevant regulations.
The role works closely with the Chair of the Trustee Board, the Chief Executive and the volunteer Financial Accountant.
The Treasurer is responsible for chairing the Finance sub-committee, including preparing the agenda and arranging for the production of the minutes of each quarterly meeting,
Treasurer main duties and responsibilities
Financial accounts
· Every quarter, review entries on Xero made by volunteer Financial Accountant (
· Review quarterly management accounts prepared by volunteer Financial Accountant before submitting report to the Trustee Board
· Ensure that year-end accounts are prepared to in compliance with SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice) Accounting for Charities and submitted by the deadline to Charity Commission and Companies House, and make arrangements for them to be independently examined as required
Budgets and planning
· Prepare annual budget and obtain Trustee Board sign off each March
· Review and update forecast of annual outturn
Financial control and compliance
· Comply with the charity’s financial policies and procedures
·Liaise with the CEO to prepare costings for any funding bid applications
· Ensure capital expenditure authorisations and limits are followed, and prepare expenditure justifications where appropriate
· Ensure that money received is spend only on the purposes for which it was given and ensure that reports and accounts demonstrating this are submitted to funders
· Submit regular financial reports to national Citizens Advice as required, and meet all financial obligations of the Citizens Advice Membership scheme
Relationship with Trustee Board
· Provide financial advice as required to the Chair and Trustee Board
· Explain, guide and advise the Board on the key assumptions and financial implications of the budget, operational and strategic plans
· Keep the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities
· Ensure that all Board members have a clear understanding of the accounts presented at meetings
· Ensure that the organisation has an appropriate reserves policy and a realistic budget that meets the service’s needs
· Provide input to the risk register process
· Present accounts at the Annual General Meeting in an accessible way

We are looking for a new Trustee to act as Company Secretary. This role is for someone who is organised and methodical, with an eye for detail. Person Specification - Essential

Overview of the role:
Uttlesford Foodbank are seeking to recruit Trustees with an interest in helping others, who are willing to uphold the food bank’s values, and who can bring life experience to the board of trustees. As a Trustee you will play a vital role by ensuring that we are meeting the demand for our services, providing help and support to people in crisis in the local community as well as providing strategic direction for the charity.

Who we are.
The modern hospice movement began at St Christopher’s over 55 years ago. Our legacy is strong, and our Trustees are currently considering the future health needs of our community so we can continue to deliver the best possible care.
We currently have two vibrant sites in South East London, providing excellent multi-professional care alongside our extensive community work. Last year, we provided care and support to over 7,500 people in the local area, with over 500 inpatient admissions, over 5,000 outpatient appointments, and over 13,000 home visits. We also have 24 charity shops supporting and contributing to our work, with over 500,000 customers visiting our stores last year.
Last year, we launched our new strategy – Making Your Time Matter, 2023-2026. We want to be part of a world where all dying people and those close to them have access to equitable care and support when and wherever they need it. We want to achieve this by tackling inequalities, fulfilling a national and global leadership role, creating a sustainable business model, equipping the future workforce and tackling ethical issues. We want to continue to share cutting-edge thinking and test solutions to improve care, we want to explore assisted dying with our communities and make recommendations to policymakers.
To achieve our vision, we are undertaking a significant refurbishment of our main site and planning our estate requirements to match our future needs. As two of our Trustees come to the end of their terms next year, we are looking for new Trustees to join us in the new year 2025.
About the roles.
Our Trustees work closely with our executive team to ensure we continue to provide outstanding care, maintain our international reputation for education and research, and remain appropriately resourced to serve our community in the future. Our Trustees provide strategic leadership and expertise from a range of backgrounds and industries, giving St Christopher’s the direction and insight to continue as a world leader in palliative care. We are actively considering the care our community will need in the future and how our estate supports this.
We are looking for three new Trustees with director-level experience to add to our existing skilled and diverse team of Trustees as we deliver outstanding care across South East London.
We are looking for a new Chair of our Finance, Audit and Risk committee as our current Chair of the committee, Catherine McDonald will come to the end of her term in September 2025. We are looking for someone with experience of finance and audit committees and it would be helpful to have charity finance experience.
As Eleanor Brown comes to the end of her term in September 2025, we are looking for a Trustee with strategic knowledge and experience of our health system, especially with primary care and/or community experience and particularly in South East London; we work across Croydon, Bromley, Southwark, Lewisham, and Lambeth. This person could bring expertise in commissioning, NHS leadership and/or clinical skills.
We want to appoint a third trustee to our Board, and we are open about the skillset and background of this person. We are interested in someone bringing local knowledge and experience to the Board, potentially with a commercial and/or fundraising background. Equally, we are interested in welcoming a trustee with experience in community development and supporting the local areas to improve end of life care. We would also welcome a trustee with experience in local government experience in the five boroughs we are active in. Whatever your background, we are looking for a person who is committed to the work of St Christopher’s as a compassionate and innovative modern hospice with a growing reputation nationally and internationally.
Our new Trustees will have the opportunity to be part of shaping St Christopher’s vision and always keeping the needs of the community at the forefront of what the hospice does, so it is vital that trustees have an affinity or passion for our work in end-of-life care.
Time Commitment
The board meets quarterly between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at our Sydenham site. We have an annual Board Away Day and an AGM. Trustees will join one of our subcommittees, which meets quarterly for an hour and a half online.
Overall, including events, preparation for board meetings, and ad hoc conversations with fellow board members and the executive team, we expect the overall time commitment to be the equivalent of up to a day a month, spread across various engagements.

A trustee at DMAT plays a crucial role in the strategic oversight of the trust. Their responsibilities include ensuring that the trust's vision, mission, and values are upheld, and that its schools are delivering high-quality education.
What will you be doing?
- Trustees help set the long-term vision and strategic direction of the trust. They collaborate with the executive leadership team to develop and implement strategic plans that ensure the trust's goals and objectives are met.
- Trustees are responsible for holding the executive leadership team accountable for the educational and financial performance of the trust. They monitor progress against strategic objectives, performance indicators, and financial targets to ensure the trust's schools are performing well.
- Trustees oversee the trust’s financial health, ensuring resources are managed effectively, budgets are adhered to, and financial risks are mitigated. They scrutinize financial reports, approve budgets, and ensure that funds are used appropriately to support educational outcomes.
- Trustees ensure that the trust complies with legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements. They identify and manage risks, ensuring that robust systems are in place for safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.
- Trustees work to ensure that high educational standards are maintained across all schools within the trust. They review academic performance data, support school improvement initiatives, and ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of all pupils.
- Trustees engage with a range of stakeholders, including parents, pupils, staff, and the local community, to understand their needs and perspectives. They ensure that stakeholder views are considered in decision-making processes.
- Trustees act with integrity and in the best interests of the trust and its pupils. They promote a culture of transparency, inclusivity, and ethical behaviour across the organisation.
- Trustees provide both support and challenge to the executive leadership team, offering guidance and expertise while also asking critical questions to ensure robust decision-making.

Voluntary role no Charity experience necessary
Crossroads Care Surrey is a registered charity dedicated to supporting unpaid carers across Surrey for over 40 years. They recognise the immense challenges these individuals face and offer a range of quality care services to assist those caring for people of all ages with various health conditions and disabilities. Their trained team of carer support workers and volunteers provides essential help in carers’ homes and communities, allowing them to take much-needed breaks from their caring responsibilities. Crossroads Care Surrey are seeking three Trustees with specific skills in HR, Business Development and Finance, to work closely as part of their Board to bring new insight and skills to set and approve the strategic direction of the charity.
What is a Trustee
- Being a trustee means making decisions that will impact people’s lives and make a real difference to our community.
- Trustees are the people who lead the charity and decide how it is run. They play a vital role in helping to define and develop the work of the charity.

You will have experience of building partnerships and conducting successful sales campaigns, project planning and networking.
The Finance Trustee will ideally a fully qualified accountant with a strong background in commercial finance. You will support strategic financial decisions by analysing trends, assessing risks, and identifying opportunities.
The HR Trustee will be an experienced qualified HR professional that can bring experience of delivering people strategy and organisational development initiatives. You will have knowledge in commercial HR and employment law.

Role Description: Trustee
To be a Trustee of an organisation is an exciting and fulfilling role and the most effective Boards are ones which benefit from individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and skill sets.
The role of a Trustee is to ensure that GFS fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries and delivers on our vision, mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
The statutory duties of a trustee are:
• To ensure the organisation complies with its governing document (articles of association).
• To ensure that the organisation pursues its objectives as defined in its governing document.
• To ensure the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives - the charity must not spend money on activities which are not included in its own objectives.
• To contribute actively to the Board of Trustees’ role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
• To safeguard the good name and values of the organisation.
• To ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
• To ensure the financial stability of the organisation.
• To protect and ensure the proper investment of the organisation’s funds.
• To appoint the Chief Executive and monitor their performance.
• In addition, with other trustees, to hold the charity “in trust” for current and future beneficiaries by:
• Ensuring that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these.
• Being responsible for the performance of the charity and for its behaviour; ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements.
• Taking care of the charity’s assets.
The Board of Trustees are jointly and severally responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, its financial health, the impact of its activities and developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.
Beyond the statutory duties of GFS, we ask that our trustees take a supporting role within the organisation to help drive the delivery of the strategy and support the team. This could include activities such as chairing committees/working groups, mentoring members of the team or actively supporting meetings with potential funders for example.

What will you be doing?
We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to join our dynamic Board of Trustees to support the strategic growth and development of the Trust and to strengthen the Board in the specific areas of safeguarding and community development.
Time Commitment
You will attend quarterly Full Board meetings (Half day, face-to-face in London during working hours).
Once established, there may be opportunity to join our Resources & Governance and Nominations committees, who also meet quarterly but typically online for 1-3 hour meetings. For candidates with significant safeguarding experience there may also be opportunity to support the Safeguarding Team, who meet quarterly, typically online.
What are we looking for?
We are particularly seeking additional skills/experiences in one or more of these areas:
- Significant safeguarding knowledge & experience, ideally with online with the responsibility of a safeguarding lead
- Lived experience or good knowledge of the barriers facing the young people we work with
- Good knowledge, experience or networks in community groups/charities supporting CYT beneficiaries
No previous trustee experience is required, just a passion for championing social mobility and unlocking the career potential of young people.
