What is the commitment?
Trustees meet online for an hour and a half in the early evening four times a year. In addition, Trustees may choose to join in occasional meetings of Mentors to discuss current mentoring projects and any challenges that may have arisen.
Who should apply?
We would love to hear from people of all backgrounds. It is important to us that our board has the diversity of thought to underpin good governance. You should ideally live within Kent and the Medway towns.
The overall role of our Trustee Treasurer is to maintain an overview of Charity Mentors Kent and Medway (CMKM) financial affairs. Ensuring our financial viability and working with our Charity Manager to maintain financial records and procedures whilst supporting future financial growth and a sustainable income for the charity to function.
Please note that the Charity’s accounts are relatively simple and there are only a few transactions each month.
In addition to the general responsibilities of a Trustee, duties of the Treasurer include the following.
Fund Raising:
· Contribution to the fundraising strategy of the organisation
· Identifying potential funders and or other sources of income
· Support the creation and review of funding bids
Operations:
· Act as a signatory on our bank account
· Overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements
· Assuring that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs
· Maintaining a relevant reserves policy
· Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place
· Advising on the financial implications of the organisation’s strategic plans
· Ensuring that there is no conflict between any finances held and the aims and objects of the charity
· Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies, for example the Charity Commission
· If external scrutiny of accounts is required, ensuring that the accounts are scrutinised in the manner required (independent examination or audit) and any recommendations are implemented
· Keeping the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities
· Presenting accounts at Board meetings and drawing attention to important points in a coherent and easily understandable way
Person specification
In addition to the person specification for a Trustee, the Treasurer should have the following qualities.
· Financial expertise and understanding
· Some experience of charity finance and fundraising
· Analytical approach to funding proposals and their financial consequences
· Some knowledge of the charity funding market
· A keen interest in identifying and pursuing new funds and additional income streams

We’re recruiting a Treasurer to provide strategic leadership over our continued financial growth to support our ambitious new strategy to be launched in 2025.
We’re seeking a Treasurer to join our board of trustees and work with our CEO to ensure the financial stability and growth of Camcycle. You will be a committed and enthusiastic supporter of cycling in and around Cambridge and a member of Camcycle. This does not mean you need to cycle very far, very often or indeed at all, but rather that you understand the benefits large-scale everyday cycling can have for our society and environment. (If you are not currently a member you can join in advance of submitting your trustee nomination form).
Ideally, you will have a formal accountancy qualification and/or practical experience with charity finances. You will also understand the dynamics of a small high-performance organisation, and be able to work with a variety of stakeholders including staff, other trustees, volunteers, members, donors and other partners. Our Treasurer will not be expected to get involved in day-to-day financial operations.

Who we are and what we do
Camcycle (Cambridge Cycling Campaign) is a high-profile and influential local charity working for more, better and safer cycling, for all ages and abilities, in and around the Cambridge region, where half the population cycles at least once a week. We are democratic and member-led, with over 1,700 members and many volunteers.
Our funding is derived from membership subscriptions, donations, grants from grant-making bodies, corporate partnerships, advertising and merchandise sales. We have five permanent members of staff, periodic interns and freelancers and many active volunteers including our board of trustees. In 2025/2026 we expect to complete our transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
Our Finance Subcommittee of trustees and staff oversees the financial processes and operations of the organisation. Our CEO and Finance Assistant run our day-to-day finances and we have plans to add a Finance Director or similar role to the team in the near future.
Camcycle’s work includes:
- Responding to planning applications and public consultations.
- Organising events including our Cambridge Festival of Cycling, the Reach Ride with 1,000 participants, stalls at community events, workplace information sessions and campaigning meetings.
- Publication of print and digital cycling advocacy materials including leaflets for students, our quarterly magazine and blogs and social media posts.
- Making representations to the media and public bodies such as the council in the interest of a wide diversity of people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities who are cycling for general transport purposes in the greater Cambridge region.

Who we are looking for.
Ideally you will come with an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship, along with specific professional knowledge, experience, and skills in clinical governance or finance. A background in either health, criminal justice, social care, or civil service, although not essential. Willingness to devote time, enthusiasm and effort to the duties and responsibilities of a trustee will be crucial.

Women and Girls Network (WGN) is a pan-London organisation that supports women and girls affected by all forms of gendered-based violence. Our overall aim is to promote, preserve and restore the mental health and well-being of women and girls who have experienced, or are at risk of, gendered-based violence, whilst working towards a society free of gendered-based violence.

- Providing women-only holistic and seamless therapeutic services, which meet women and girls’ needs and contribute to total and sustainable recovery from the experiences of violence.

Additional information
Trustees are required to attend six meetings a year. In addition, trustees are required to attend induction training and Away Days are usually held once a year. There may also be sub-committees that Trustees wish to join, and one Trustee member is invited to be on interview panels for any senior management recruitment. Trustees are also required to read documents and emails between meetings.

The Role
As a Flyer Distributor you will play a crucial role in helping to raise awareness about our services and events within the Enfield community. Young Enterprise’s Team Programme is an enterprise journey for students who have mild to moderate learning difficulties. Designed to aid young people’s transition from education into independent living and employment, the programme develops confidence and life skills through working as a team to set up and run an enterprise.
This hands-on and highly impactful role involves mentoring and encouraging students with learning disabilities and other complex needs to face the challenges of running a business, and learn critical life skills, in a safe space.
Team Programme Volunteers are primarily based within schools/ colleges supporting a group of students with learning disabilities. They will volunteer alongside school staff to ensure the young people are able to flourish. Young people particularly value volunteers who can attend in person as this support their learning and development of social skills.
The time commitment can be variable depending on the particular needs of the group. At most this will involve around one hour per week, attending weekly company meetings throughout the school academic year, however in some cases may be less frequent than this.

- Coaching, mentoring, and positively supporting young people with learning disabilities and autism through their business adventure
- Attending regular company meetings within the school environment
- Liaising closely with the lead teacher to achieve the best outcomes for young people

The National Benevolent Charity is a grantmaker. We make grants to individuals experiencing poverty and to organisations aiming to relieve poverty.
We are one of only a handful of benevolent charities to which people experiencing poverty can apply directly from anywhere in the UK. Our applicants include refugees, women escaping domestic abuse, people from the travelling community, working families on low incomes, care leavers and pensioners.

The charity employs three staff members, led by the Chief Executive, Ali Russell. Total income and endowments for the year ending 31 December 2023 were £ 867,742, with expenditures £1,108,271. Assets are just under £24m.
About the role.
To complement the skills and experience of the existing Trustees, we are looking for a new board member with expertise in finance. This board member will be a qualified accountant and hold a senior strategic leadership position as our new Finance and Investment Committee Chair. They will need to attend all Full Board and all Finance Committee meetings.

The Trustees of Boxing Futures provide strategic direction, financial control, and overall assurance of effective accountability, with the Treasurer needing to steer the Finance Working Group, for the organisation to ensure that we deliver in line with our mission and objectives. Trustee meetings are quarterly and held remotely with one in-person meeting per year.

We’re extending Ealing Book Festival'sBoard of Trustees to fulfil our long-term ambitions. We have a friendly, experienced team and financial strengths. Activities take place in central Ealing. Transport links are good.
Ealing Book Festival registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) in November 2023. Its objects are to advance the public education in West London’s Ealing through an annual book festival and writing-related events for the enjoyment of books. We encourage reading for pleasure, working widely and inclusively. We are volunteer led.
Our April 2024 the charity ran its successful first main event, with 86% tickets sold and very positive feedback on the quality and range of the events. The festival comprised 19 events including a great children’s poetry competition. We’re planning for April 2025.
Skills we’re seeking
We’re strengthening our outreach capacity, diversity and enterprise. We’d especially welcome people with skills and experience in
1.Enterprise: fundraising and income generation
2.Working with Ealing (or equivalent) based networks and communities
3.Knowledge and experience of arts and culture
Trustees work collectively, using skills, knowledge and experience to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions.We offer induction and training.
The time commitment will vary but could be around 2-3 hours per week, flexed according to what you can offer.

VOLUNTEER TRUSTEE VACANCIES
Thiese are three separate voluntary roles for Trustees:
!) legal background, preferably a Lawyer
2) ICT
3) Finance.
Trustees are the people who share ultimate responsibility for governing a charity and directing how it is managed and run.Citizens Advice North Oxon and South Northants particularly welcomes applications from people from ethnic minorities.Trustees ensure we have a clear strategy, and that our work and goals are in line with our vision.A trustee's role in any charity is to be the ‘guardians of purpose’, making sure that all decisions put the needs of the beneficiaries first. They safeguard the charity’s assets – both physical assets, including property, and intangible ones, such as its reputation. They make sure these are used well and that the charity is run sustainably.
Trustees don’t usually do the day-to-day running of the charity. They delegate this to the staff, led by the Chief Executive. Instead, they play the role of a ‘critical friend’ to the Chief Executive by giving support and by challenging – in a supportive way – to help them manage effectively.
Our trustee board meets four to eight times a year, both full meetings and sub-committees with specific functions.
