WAY is Swindon's young person-led charity, creating a way for lasting change in our communities.
We are passionate about journeying alongside young people who face disadvantage, believing in their potential as they take steps towards a more hopeful future.
Mentoring begins by taking time to get to know the young person, identifying their strengths and aspirations as well as their needs and the challenges they face. Mentor’s then tailor the support to the young person and, together, they take positive steps towards an identified goal to attain and sustain positive change.
Our mentors meet with young people for one hour a week over a period of 12 months, meeting in a space the young person feels comfortable (such as café or park near their home).
If you’re able to encourage a young person aged 10-25 for just an hour a week, you also have an opportunity to significantly impact their lives. Just one hour a week can change the direction of a young person’s life. One of our volunteer mentors said:

Money Advice Plus (MAP)
Is a registered charity, working both locally in Sussex and nationwide with the purpose of providing advice, counsel, support, and assistance to everyone finding it difficult to manage their financial affairs because of poverty, old age, disability or economic abuse.
MAP is a specialist debt and money advice charity. Our vision is for everyone to have the advice and support they need to manage their own money effectively. We do this by providing person-centred money advice, actively engaging with those who find it most difficult, improving wellbeing and financial resilience.
What will you be doing
We are looking for new Trustees to strengthen the Board. We are looking for trustees with experience in legal and HR.
People with skills and experience that will help us (including lived experience) are wanted to ensure we maintain our reputation for being a well-run charity. We will welcome people from underrepresented sections of the community including younger people.
What are we looking for
This role is for someone who is organised and methodical, with an eye for detail. Trustees take part in relevant subgroups will also participate fully in Board meetings and play an essential part in the strategic direction and quality development of the organisation. An understanding of the charitable and voluntary sector and its governance will be an advantage, as well as an empathy for the aims and objectives of Money Advice Plus.

In 2022-23, we received 5690 enquiries into our service and assisted 3714 people with debt and welfare benefit problems. These numbers are for just one year, but the impact on each client is immense and has life-changing outcomes.
The result of this work
- Increase benefit income by £1,562,348 (£1,963,310)
- Secure one-off payments of benefits of at least £280,204 (£400,829)
- Secured £116,782 in Discretionary Housing Payments
- Obtain charitable grants and refunds and compensation of £503,357 (£423,019)
- Insolvency amounting to £596,373.
- Debt write-off (not insolvency) £1,011,427. This includes £868,843 for victim-survivors £178,784 using our innovative Economic Abuse Evidence Form that is currently piloted by several major banks, debt purchasing and utility companies.
- Negotiated with creditors to reduce client payments of £46,345 (£47,873) per year.
Altogether with charitable payments and other financial outcomes, our clients were better off by a total of £4,375,104 (£4,474,556) per year, an average of £1634 (£938) per client. or £3.17 (£3.50) for every £1 spent on our service.
Money Handling service
- 424 (438) people received a money-handling service, primarily in Brighton and East Sussex.
- £5,329,122 (£4,892,00) of clients’ money was handled. This comprises clients’ income received and used to fulfil their weekly and monthly budget requirements, pay bills and debts, and provide weekly cash.

We are seeking to appoint two new Governors to the Local Governing Body of Pebsham Primary Academy. Whilst meetings can take place virtually, Governors will need to be available to visit the school at least three times during the year during school hours.
Who we are
Pebsham Primary Academy is a one form entry primary school in Bexhill. It joined TKAT, a Multi-Academy Trust, in January 2014. The TKAT Board of Trustees has appointed a Local Governing Board which is responsible for ensuring the Academy’s long term vision reflects the needs of its community beyond current post holders and in line with TKAT’s vision and values.
The role
We, the Governors, are a diverse group of people from a range of backgrounds, including education, human resource management, retail work, legal work and finance. We aim to use our skills to support the school so that we attain our vision of a school where every child can shine. We are not paid, but can claim expenses for some activities.
We meet as a Local Governing Body, independent of the TKAT Board of Directors, but accountable to TKAT for everything we do, and our main functions are to set the strategic direction for the Academy and to hold its leadership to account.
We visit the school regularly to monitor its progress and we ask challenging questions to ensure that the school is meeting the needs of all the children and providing an education that will enthuse and inspire them. We regularly speak to children, parents and staff to find out their views.

What is LBA looking for?
The London Basketball Association is pleased to announce that an opportunity has arisen for a Board of Trustees Chairperson to join our intensely committed organisation.
The Board of Trustees Chairperson is a pivotal role within the organisation, tasked with holding the Board and Executive Team to account, to ensure the Charity hits its mission and longer term strategic visions. This is achieved by providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity. The Chair will also support, and, where appropriate, challenge the CEO and ensure that the Board functions as a unit to achieve agreed objectives.
Time Commitments: The Board of Trustees meet 6 times per year [bi-monthly]. Meeting may be held either in person and virtually. Purpose of your role:
The Dunsmore Living Landscape project aims to link up Warwickshire’s ancient woodlands, hedgerows, grasslands and ponds, and reconnect people with their local wild places. We work on nature reserves, farms and country parks throughout the Living Landscape area. Join us to get stuck in with practical habitat management and surveying in this beautiful area.
Tasks you will be involved with:
Tasks will vary throughout the year, ranging from wildflower meadow management and surveying in the summer to coppicing, path work, hedgerow restoration, scrub clearance and hedge planting in the autumn and winter. There are also opportunities to join us with the Dormouse Reintroduction project, hedgerow surveying and data entry and analysis in your own time.
Skills and abilities required:

You should bring suitable footwear and waterproof clothing, all tools and safety equipment will be provided
A willingness to work outside in all weather and in remote locations
An understanding of the importance of health and safety in the environment described

About The Role

St John Ambulance are looking for new Youth Leaders in North Yorkshire to help continue our efforts in teaching First Aid to young people across the region.
Youth Team Volunteers teach young people, of all different backgrounds, vital and life-changing first aid skills. We have two programmes – our Badgers (aged 5 – 10 years old) and our Cadets (aged 10 – 17 years old).
We are currently on the lookout for both Youth Helpers and Youth Leaders. By volunteering a minimum three hours per week you could make a massive difference to these cadets now and have a real impact on your community.

You’ll gain communication, listening and presentation skills and grow in confidence.

Introduction
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Telford and Wrekin CVS (TWCVS). Key roles include ensuring sound financial management; compliance with charity law and organisational risk management.
The Board is accountable to a variety of stakeholders, including funders, customers, members, partners, Charity Commission and Companies House.
Individual Trustees are expected to play an active role in the Board: attending meetings, acquainting themselves with papers and information sent out beforehand, contributing to discussions and decision-making.
There is no remuneration for Trustees. Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be paid in line with TWCVS’s agreed policy and practice
Trustees are committed to developing and maintaining
· An understanding of and commitment to the vision, mission, objects and aims of TWCVS.
· An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship
· An understanding of the partnership and cooperation between the Board and the Chief Executive, with the Board taking the lead on strategic matters and the CEO and staff responsible for the agreed operational delivery.
· Knowledge and understanding of health and social care services, local partnerships and other structures impacting on the experiences of vulnerable people in Telford & Wrekin

Acorns have a network of shops across the West Midlands that generate a substantial level of income to enable us to care for children and their families. Our Furniture Assembly Volunteers support by constructing and taking apart flat pack furniture, beds and other large items of furniture. Full training will be provided for this hands-on position.
How much time will it take?
Our shops are open Monday to Saturday (some open on Sundays too), 9am to 5pm. You can volunteer the hours that suit you, but ideally we’ll need you to volunteer for at least 3 hours per week.

Why we want you
Our boutique shops raise vital funds for Save the Children. Your knowledge of fashion, designer items and your local networks can bring in even more donations, helping to raise even more money for Save the Children’s work in the UK and around the world.
What you will be doing
- Welcoming and serving customers
- Sorting donations and stock
- Making the shop look attractive, clean and tidy
- Helping with promotional events at the shop
- Following all shop processes, including registering Gift Aid donations
The skills you need
- An interest in fashion
- Friendly and welcoming
- Sociable and can chat with customers
- Happy to handle money
