Role Summary

We are seeking a creative and motivated Graphic Designer to join our design team. This role is perfect for someone with a basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Canva, who has a keen interest in growing their design skills. The Designer will play a key role in creating social media assets that drive engagement and support our overall marketing strategy. You will work closely with the Marketing team to develop visuals that enhance our brand presence and effectively communicate our message to target audiences.

Key tasks

• Design visually appealing social media graphics, including posts,  stories, thumbnails, and banners, that align with our brand identity.
• Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop creative concepts for campaigns and ensure consistency across all digital platforms.
• Assist in creating and maintaining social media templates and assets for use across various projects.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas for campaign visuals and marketing content.
• Support the design team with additional tasks, such as updating existing materials or assisting with print design when needed.
• Ensure all design work meets brand guidelines and project objectives

What we’re looking for

• Proficiency in Canva.
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (focusing on Illustrator and InDesign).
• Understanding of social media platforms and their design requirements.
• A keen eye for detail and a strong sense of aesthetics and visual storytelling.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Our aim is simple – to deliver a vision where fewer people get cancer and those that do receive equal access to excellent treatment. However, we can’t do this without your help. Our shops in local communities are crucial to us raising vital funds. So, we’d like you to volunteer your time and commitment to help us make a difference. We need you to help be the friendly face that looks after our customers by greeting them, assisting them and processing their items through the till.

What will I be doing?

Speaking with customers, making them welcome and answering questions

Serving customers at the till

Accepting donations from the public

Putting goods on display in the shop

Maintaining high levels of shop standards, presentation and cleanliness

Generating add-on sales and Gift Aid conversion through high levels of customer service

Completing Gift Aid shop paperwork

Supporting the Shop Manager in carrying out shop security procedures

Promoting awareness of the charity and the services that we provide.

What skills do I need?

Strong customer service skills

A really keen eye for detail

Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team

Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the team and customers.

How much time do I need to commit?

We’d need you to give around three hours per week if you can with the possibility to do more if you’d like to. However, we appreciate any time you’d like to give; please let us know this on your application form.

Before starting with Tenovus Cancer Care, we ask that you visit the Shop Management team in the shop so we can both see how the role may suit you.

Following that the Shop Manager and team will be on hand to advise and help you select products you can use.

Job Description:

Quilombo UK is looking for a Bid Writer - Commercial Proposal Volunteer to join their team. Quilombo UK is a not for profit social enterprise that challenges people to think differently and bridge gaps between communities, with the aim of building a culturally rich society, where differences are accepted and celebrated. As chosen among 160 other organizations to work in collaboration with the Home Office on the “Building a Stronger Britain together” project, you will be joining a team, which not only supports the community but also stands up to extremism in all of its forms.

By joining Quilombo UK and QMC Capoeira School you will be supported and guided by experienced staff and volunteers, who are willing to share their skill set and will provided you with great opportunities for development in many different areas.

Ideal candidates will assist Quilombo UK in preparing funding bids that contribute to their further development. They should be well-organized, with a proactive attitude to deliver work that adheres to the key objectives of the organization. Candidates should be willing to volunteer at least 12 hours a week, for a duration of two months.

You will be volunteering as part of the team who are responsible for creating the bids to attract funding for our new or existing projects. The role will involve discussing project ideas and proposals with the management & project teams, searching for the right funding opportunities and preparing bids for submission.

You will work as part of an experienced team, where writing skills and experience in crafting persuasive and compelling content are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and write commercial proposals tailored to meet the specific requirements of clients and align with business objectives.
• Review and revise previously created proposals to ensure accuracy, coherence, and alignment with current business strategies.
• Collaborate closely with other team members, partners, and stakeholders to produce high-quality bid responses, compelling content, and effective key messages that align with win themes.

About us:

Long Covid SOS is a registered charity dedicated to throwing a lifeline to people living with the impact of Long Covid by pushing for greater recognition and awareness, advocating for targeted research and providing support and resources. With a passionate team of volunteers and Trustees, we use our voice to promote recognition and understanding of the experiences of people with Long Covid and its devastating effects on their lives. We advocate for and encourage inclusive and appropriate research into Long Covid and support those with Long Covid to live the best lives they can by providing extensive resources and working with stakeholders to help secure effective and appropriate care and treatment for them. 

Role overview:

As the Chair of the Board of Trustees, you will provide pivotal strategic and inspirational leadership and direction to the Board, ensuring that Long Covid SOS is effectively governed, and remains focused on its mission and strategic goals. This is a unique voluntary opportunity for an accomplished leader with strong governance experience to make a significant impact for those with Long Covid. You will act as an ambassador for the charity, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, partners and the wider community. The role is a remote position and will require a commitment of 2-4 days per month. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership: - 

• Collaborate closely with the CEO to support the delivery of Long Covid SOS’s strategic objectives.
• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance and oversight. 
• Develop and articulate a clear vision for the charity’s future.
• Collaborate with fellow Trustees to establish strategic goals and objectives and devise an execution plan to achieve these goals. 
• Ensure alignment between the charity’s mission and operational activities.
• Contribute to the charity’s fundraising strategy and ensure the charity stays on target to achieve its fundraising goals.  

2. Trustee Engagement: -

• Promote a culture of active engagement, collaboration, and transparency within the Board, ensuring all Trustees are effectively contributing to discussions and decision-making. 

3. Meeting Facilitation: -

• Lead Trustee meetings in a manner that encourages open dialogue, ensuring that every opinion is considered and respected.
• Ensure board meetings are effective, inclusive, and focused on the charity’s key priorities.

4. Governance: -

• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and best practice requirements.

 5. Ambassadorship: -

What will you do in this role?​

As a trustee you will provide advice, knowledge and support to the leadership team at We The Curious.  As Chair of the board of trustees you will ensure we pursue our purpose responsibly, are compliant with our governing documents, charity law and other relevant legislation. The board will review and advise on best practice and appropriate policies and procedures and uphold excellent governance.​

As a Chair of our board of trustees you will :​

_Lead the Board of Trustee meetings to ensure different voices and opinions are heard​

_Ensure the Board of Trustees meet governance requirements of the charities commission​

_Support the Trustees and Executive Team to achieve our strategic plans and charitable aims​

_Work to ensure that the Board of Trustees have the right balance of skills and experience to support our articles and goals​

_Contribute individual skills and knowledge in support of the vision and strategic delivery​

All Trustees should use their specific skills, knowledge or experience to help the Board of Trustees reach informed decisions in the best interest of We The Curious. ​

This will involve scrutinising Board papers, leading discussion and providing guidance as requested by the Board on new initiatives or other issues relevant to the area of our work in which the trustee has expertise. 

Time commitment ​

_We hold quarterly board meetings, typically from 4pm to 7pm and one strategy away day per year. Trustees are expected to attend and contribute to all meetings either in person or by joining virtually.​

_ Board Meetings are located at the We The Curious offices within the science centre in central Bristol, and once a year at another location around the City.  ​

 _ You will also be asked to take part in one of our subcommittee meetings which take place online, at least once per quarter. There are currently sub-committees for Finance & Risk Assurance and Purpose Strategy.  ​

_You will have monthly calls with the CEO, and ad hoc calls/meetings with other members of the Board of Trustees and leadership team as appropriate. ​

_You will be invited to key We The Curious team events such as annual get togethers and training days. ​

_ You may also be called upon for advice or assistance by the leadership team or to attend additional events. ​

Remuneration ​

This is a voluntary role. Reasonable travel expenses will be covered. Food is provided at the quarterly Board meetings and strategy away days. ​

Terms of appointment​

_Trustees including the Chair are appointed to an initial three-year term of service (including a probationary period).​

_Trustees can serve a maximum of six years with a reappointment after the first term of three years unless the trustee holds an office, such as Chair or Deputy Chair, in which case they would be eligible for a further three-year term. The maximum term of office is nine years.

To assist with the smooth running of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust by providing a range of office administration and information services to staff, volunteers and members.

Tasks you will be involved with:
• Management of documentation and records including scanning, filing, archiving and shredding
• Assisting the Administrator with creation and maintenance of internal spreadsheets
• Assisting with the input of data onto our Access Charity CRM database system
• General office duties such as maintaining tidy storage of office consumables, replenishment of first aid consumables, unpacking stationery, checking and updating noticeboards

Overview

This is a Senior Leadership team role.

The Base Camp Manager has responsibility for many of the logistical aspects of the expedition,
including equipment, food, and managing the environmental impact at base camp. You will need
to be ready to turn your hand to a range of tasks, acting as the ‘fixer’ for the expedition and
supporting the expedition team with all aspects of expedition life.

We are looking for applicants who are:

• Comfortable spending extended periods in remote and sometimes harsh environments.
• Able to commit to all pre-expedition training events. 

As a charity, all Leader positions are undertaken on a voluntary basis and Leaders join for the intrinsic value of adventure, education, and personal development of young people. You do not have to fundraise to lead on our expeditions.

From beginners, to birdwatchers, families to photographers, as a Guide in a Hide, you will give a warm welcome to all our visitors and encourage them to make the most of their visit to ours hides.
You will help them to identify wildlife they see and understand how supporting our work helps protect these wonderful habitats for wildlife and for people to enjoy.
You will also update the sightings board and inform the Visitor Experience Team of any exciting sightings.

Tasks you will be involved with:
Being welcoming in the Wright Hide, helping point out to the visitors what wildlife they can see.
Walking around the other hides talking to visitors and birdwatching.
Updating the sightings board and informing the Visitor Experience Team of any exciting sightings.
Keeping hides clean and tidy by litter picking and sweeping.

Dover Smart Project has just opened Dover's first contemporary art gallery, we have an exciting line up of exhibitions and are looking for volunteers to join our gallery team.

No experience required as training will be provided.

Duties will include - 

1) Opening / Closing the Smart Gallery

2) Speaking to the general public about the charity and the exhibitions

3) Taking payments for artworks sold

4) Keeping records of sales

5) Encouraging visitors to give feedback via our signing in system

Our education speaker volunteers have the important and exciting role of raising awareness of Cats Protection. They deliver pre-prepared talks, help spread messages around feline welfare and act as the voice of cats in their local communities. They also deliver talks to both adults and children in a variety of settings. Interacting with children is especially important, as they are the cat owners of the future, and by building their understanding and knowledge we can make the world a better place for cats.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Being part of a passionate team of other volunteers and employees
• Delivering pre-prepared talks to schools and community groups
• Hosting information sessions
• Proving feedback on talks where necessary
• Taking part in promotional events such as careers days at schools and colleges
• Delivering education craft sessions at community talks and workshops

• Transport is essential for this role as you will be required to travel to talk venues such as schools and community centres within a reasonable distance of your home address. Therefore a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle or excellent public transport links are essential

Time expectation 

The hours are flexible to fit around your other commitments. Each talk can last between 30 minutes and an hour, not including travel time. Availability of talks vary by location and season and some audiences may request more than one talk. Talks are given during the day and in the evening - during the week and on occasional weekends.

They help plan and deliver exciting and varied fundraising events, which can be anything from craft fairs, cake sales, sponsored abseils – and anything in between!
