Creative writing is a great way to express yourself using your own creativity and imagination through story telling or poetry. It is an opportunity to reflect on your own experiences and put it down on paper. Creative writing has been shown to improve emotional and mental well-being. Through creative writing, we can gain insight into our emotions, develop self-expression and communication skills, cultivate empathy and understanding of others, boost our imagination and creativity.
What you will be doing
- To prepare creative writing sessions, involving individuals in the planning process where possible
- Inspire and motivate individuals to develop and expand their capacity to think creatively, improve their ability to put their thoughts and feelings into writing and allowing others to find their voice
- Encourage individuals to continue independent activities
- Keep a record of attendees, provide feedback and report any concerns to the staff team
The skills you need
- Experience of creative writing either in a professional, educational or personal level
- Able to collaborate with individuals to plan creative writing sessions
- A calm and patient manner
- Ability to provide a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages learning and participation
- Good communication skills

What are we looking for?
Our Investment Committee is one of three Committees reporting to the Board of Trustees, and provides expert input on the execution of our investment strategy, drawing on the advice and support of external investment consultants, as well as the executive team. It comprises both trustees and independent experts who can bring their expertise and experience to the decision-making and governance process. Members serve limited terms of office and as a result of some upcoming retirements, we now have two vacancies for independent expert members.
We welcome applications from candidates whose skills and interests include:
- a commitment to responsible investment as a baseline, ideally with knowledge of the context in which charitable trusts and foundations invest;
- knowledge and experience in investing to generate both a financial return and positive social and environmental impacts;
- an understanding of the impact investing market, preferably with experience in developing relevant investment strategies and polices;
- developing innovative financial instruments relevant for supporting third-sector organisations;
- knowledge of impact reporting frameworks.
What does the role involve?
Our Investment Committee meetings are held quarterly. While our office base is in central London, we invite applications from across the UK. We always conduct meetings in hybrid format and aim to bring committee members together at least once-a-year for an in-person meeting. The role will also provide opportunity for investment committee members to explore aspects of the Trust’s wider activities, including attendance at the Trust’s annual symposia and other areas of interest. The total time commitment for the role is expected to be no more than 4 days per year, including preparation and reading time.
Although the role is unpaid, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

As a Group Leader at Youth Challenge Oxfordshire (YoCO), you will play a key role in guiding and supporting young people through our 18-month program. This involves leading weekly 2-hour sessions in Faringdon, creating a safe and engaging environment, and driving personal development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a 2-hour weekly session during term time, following YoCO’s unique programme: ME (self-awareness), US (group dynamics), and THEM (community & global causes).
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and fun environment, supporting the personal development of all group members.
- Plan fundraising activities alongside your group and the YoCO support team, and attend events (some may be on weekends).
- Lead the group on a 5-day UK residential trip organized by YoCO.
- Regularly update YoCO staff on the group’s progress and address any issues.
- Attend an induction with the Group Manager, complete a DBS check, and receive First Aid and Safeguarding training (funded by YoCO).
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Passionate and Motivated: Enthusiastic about working with vulnerable young people, with a commitment to motivating and inspiring them to reach their full potential. Able to act as a positive role model and build strong, trusting relationships.

Unfortunately our feline friends can occasionally stray or get lost, which can be extremely distressing for their owners. Our lost and found volunteers are passionate about reuniting lost cats and bringing families back together. They help cats and their owners by advertising lost cats and providing support, advice and guidance to people searching for their cats.

Outdoor Learning Volunteer Officers are a key part of our team at Skelton Grange Environment Centre and are involved in:
- Supporting and leading environmental activities with young people and the local community.
- Planning and preparing sessions - and sometimes even developing new activities to help young people connect with nature.
- You will be trained and supported by experienced project staff and work as part of a team with paid staff, trainees and other Volunteers.
Typical activities for the Outdoor Learning Volunteer role include:
- Running environmental education sessions for school visits during term time.
- Running play activities for groups of children and young people during the school holidays.
- Keeping education day resources up to date and developing new resources, activities or materials as required.

The role
Your role as treasurer will be to
– Monitor the financial standing of the charity and report to the Board regarding cash-flow forecasting, income streams, out-going expenses and the overarching strategic management of the organisation’s financial resources.
– Oversee the charity’s financial risk-management process and report financial health to the Board of Trustees at regular intervals.
– Act as a counter signatory for on-line payments and applications to funders, and ensure that annual accounts are submitted to all relevant regulators in a timely fashion.
– Liaise with external auditors on financial issues and ensure that the organisation’s finances are responsibly managed and invested for the betterment of the organisation’s work and for the beneficiaries it serves.
Qualities of a Treasurer
Essential
- Qualified accountant with demonstrated commercial awareness and knowledge.
- Knowledge of charity SORP and impending changes.
- Competent use of IT skills.
- Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders.
- Analytical and evaluation skills, demonstrating good judgement.
- Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship.
- Good communication and leadership skills
Desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of charity fundraising and finance practices.
- Dedicated to the organisation’s cause and objectives and willing to act as the charity’s ambassador to external bodies, charities and companies.
- Skills and experience in one or more areas of non-executive governance and management, e.g. strategic planning, business management, financial/accountancy, understanding of HR issues, experience of Trusts or other grant-giving bodies, particularly fundraising and legal knowledge.

What is involved
Commitment to providing a loving home, care, and training for a dog for the duration of their time in training
We consider this a full time role as you, or another approved adult member of the household, will be required to care for the dog for much of the day and overnight
Our trainers need access to the dogs during weekdays for training purposes. We ask that you commute to and from our training centre when required to drop off/collect the dog. Drop off and collection times are generally between 8.30 -9.30am and 4-5pm o Availability to attend pre-arranged training sessions at your home, in your local area, and at our training centre.
With our guidance, and using positive training methods, to continue the training of the dog in various areas.

Maintaining the dog’s health and welfare and, via support and training, to recognise behaviour/health concerns and report them immediately to the dog’s trainer
What we require from you
You live within a 30 minute drive of our training centre (post code LE12 9SR)
That you, as the dogs main carer, are over 18 years of age
You have a dog friendly secure garden
Though desirable, prior dog ownership is not required.
All members of the household are keen to foster one of our dogs
There is no more than one pet dog living in your home. The pet dog must be over 12 months of age and would need to undergo our pet dog suitability assessment
Have the time and ability to commit to the training and care of a young dog. This is a physical role
Have access to a suitable vehicle to transport the dog
That you or other approved adult member of the household are at home most of the day, and overnight, to care for the dog
Have an area of your garden that can be used for toileting the dog – details about this are provided during our home check assessment.
Understand that the dog in your care remains under the ownership of Canine Partners
Support and Training
Induction process which includes the submission of an application form, initial phone call, and home visit
On-going Instruction and support from our dog trainers. This will be in person, via video link, phone calls, handouts etc.
