We are looking for a dynamic and innovative fundraising specialist individual with drive and passion that aligns with the purpose of The Iolanthe Midwifery Trust to join our Board of Trustees. Meetings:
The Board meets three times a year in March, June and October. All but 1 meeting (October combined AGM/Board meeting/Award event) are held remotely. Meetings generally last no longer than 2 hours and with the exception of the October meetings are held on a weekday evening.
The Finance sub committee meets remotely 3 times a year approximately 10 days ahead of the Board meetings.
The Fundraising sub committee will meet remotely and feed through to the main Board meetings.

Proven experience of executing successful fundraising campaigns, who can provide support with the following key areas:

REQUIREMENTS + KEY CRITERIA
Commitment to the charity’s values, bags of enthusiasm, an understanding and passion for our work, great comms skills and a real desire to want to make a difference to the lives of our vulnerable community. You may have experience of living with muscular dystrophy, other disabilities or life limiting conditions, but this is not essential.
MAIN BOARD MEETINGS + EXPENSES
Trustee Board meetings take place virtually. They are usually 2hrs. Over and above this time commitment, trustees on average, depending on their role, may give additional time in being directly involved in occasional ad projects – MHF Trustees ‘own’ a ‘bucket’, in other words, an area of responsibility like HR, Fundraising, Safeguarding, Marketing, Finance, Digital, Risk or Campaign Management that allows an individual to bring their skills, experience and talents to the charity. Reasonable expenses will be covered.

Tender aims to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence by educating children and young people about the issues through creative projects. Our programmes are safe, enjoyable, and age-appropriate which allow people to engage with sensitive topics and “rehearse” for real-life scenarios. The day-to-day running of the charity is delegated to the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team.
All trustees are expected to:
- Safeguard and promote the reputation, vision, mission and values of Tender
- Ensure the charity complies with its governing documents, relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
- Determine the overall strategic direction and development of Tender, by agreeing organisational polices, budgets and objectives, and to ensure targets are set and performance is measured against those targets
- Contribute any specific skills, knowledge, and experience which they may have to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of Tender and its financial stability
- Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively

The Vice Chairs’ role is to support the Chair in executing their duties. The Vice Chair continues to fulfil all those duties assumed when he/she became a trustee as outlined in the document The Trustee Board, Role and Responsibilities. The Vice Chair will assume the role of Chair in the absence of the chair. To this end, their duties are similar in that the Vice Chair will be expected to provide leadership in giving firm strategic direction to the charity and will be responsible for ensuring that the board meets regularly, keeps transparent records, agrees priorities, and ensures that the charity’s income sources, and expenditure allow it to meet its charitable aims. This includes:
- Ensuring the Chair has all information he/she requires in order to carry out their role to the best of their ability.
- The Vice Chair will discuss and offer his/her advice to the Chair based on her understandingof the charity’s’ vision, values, mission, strategy and policy when the documents are due to be reviewed.
- The Vice Chair may be, on occasion expected to represent the Chair at external functions and events. The Vice Chair must always act in the best interest of the charity.
- The Vice Chair will act as a point of contact for the trustees and others between formal meetings when the chair is unavailable.

Students4Students is a member led national organisation which has c.100 members split across 4 branches. CFT need an additional board member with the specific skills, outlined below, who also brings vision and an appreciation and understanding of how to grow a network in a non-traditional and decentralised way that empowers all partners and stakeholders.
Strategic Finance & Risk Trustee:
CFT is seeking a finance and risk Trustee who has a background as a Chief Finance Officer, Finance Director or Finance Manager who can offer strategic guidance to a multi-faceted, multi-million-pound charity at this pivotal time in their growth.
This individual needs to be a qualified accountant with experience in operating at a strategic level. A person who appreciates the needs of a complex and growing organisation with diverse income and expenditure is needed for this role. CFT’s finances are multi-faceted because they apply for funding, distribute grants and are also developing their Green Finance work so that they can monetise the outputs of England’s Community Forests, as appropriate. They are also diversifying their income including through fundraising.
The new trustee will attend the quarterly Board meetings and also support the Senior Finance Trustee in chairing the quarterly Finance & Risk Committee for CFT. They will work with the CEO and Finance Manager as well as the external auditors concerning all financial matters and relevant reporting cycles.
