What difference will you make? What’s in it for the volunteer?
Volunteering on an academy trust board is deeply rewarding and impacts the lives of hundreds, even thousands, of young people. Academy trusts support schools to give children a better future. For young people to have the best possible opportunities in later life, it’s vital we have individuals with the right expertise leading schools and holding executive teams accountable. Becoming a Trustee is a fantastic opportunity to give back to communities by strengthening education.
Becoming a Trustee is also an opportunity for you to build your experience in strategic decision-making at senior level or demonstrate your ability to perform in a non-executive position as part of a portfolio career.
All roles are volunteer/pro bono in nature.
Governing boards should represent the communities they serve, as well as wider society. We encourage people from diverse backgrounds to apply to ensure academy trust boards are diverse in background, skillset, and thought.
Diversity is a powerful instrument for effective governance. Trustees are required to make choices that impact the daily lives of students, from school finance all the way through to staff recruitment and pupil admissions. We believe that true representation at board level enables all students to fulfil their potential.
Further Information
We strongly recommend that you review information about the trust both via their website, and also on Companies House, Get Information About Schools and the Schools Financial Benchmarking Service.

Franchine Young Ireland
We are an emerging organic brand with a passion for reconnecting people with clean and plant based ingredients. We have a desire to create a brand that means well at every stage, protecting people, animals and our environment.
There is an ‘ugly’ truth inside the Beauty Industry that simply has to change. Single use plastics, toxic ingredients, greenwashing, animal cruelty and a complete disregard for people, animals and our planet for many years. Many people are unaware that most products may contain ingredients known as Endocrine Disruptors, (EDCs). Recent evidence suggests exposure to EDCs is associated with early onset menopause. Marketing messaging continues to focus on unrealistic images of beauty that have resulted in anxiety, low self-esteem, and low self-confidence in many women, as well as affecting the hormonal journey. It’s time to take a stand, to challenge the large corporations and to provide solutions and alternative options for conscious consumers.
Franchine Young Ireland is an emerging organic brand with a passion for pure ingredients, simplified skin care and a desire to protect people, animals and our environment.
Organic, plant based and cruelty free and I believe passionately in taking less from our earth, a minimalist approach to skincare. We believe in doing ‘no harm’ in the complete life cycle of our products – from Field to Face ® we have created a simplistic and effective skincare routine, Mother Nature’s Method®.
I am passionate about health and exposure to unnecessary chemicals and processes within the beauty industry. I seek to create innovative products that simplify, excel in caring for the skin without harming anyone or thing, including our earth, in the process. I look forward to meeting likeminded volunteers that can bring skills and experience in all areas of the business to my growing brand.

Frontline evacuations, where conflicts are at their their most precarious

When disaster strikes, or the season changes - survival items for escalating conflicts or disasters are changed and added to our website. You will communicate these updates via email campaigns and social media posts, the items are then 'purchased' by our supporters, with the shopping lists collated internally by you, then sent to our partners or volunteers on the ground who can purchase the physical items and deliver the survival items to vulnerable people in the most precarious and volatile regions, sometimes within minutes!
We also save greatly shipping and storage costs, and there is next to zero chance for unforseen delays at customs.
It is the most efficient way we know of giving in a crises - and is very efffective when marketed right (following either our set formulas, or bringing your own to experiment with). The best part? People know exactly where their money is going, so are justifiably much more generous!
So we need a volunteer (you!) to manage our marketing and communication efforts, ideally 2 days per week to:

*Update website as required
*Write 1 x compelling press release per week
*Update marketing / fundraising collateral
*Assist charity shops with creating leaflets and posters ad-hoc
*Organising our photos & videos by devising a tagging system

2 years' experience in marketing and press roles preferred
Experieince using Canva
An adaptable and compelling copywriter essential

Here at Youth4Youth, we have grown a strong, tight-knit community of individuals who are passionate about making a difference and improving the lives of young people across the UK. Our growing team of volunteers all contribute, significantly, to the impact that we have as a charity on our direct beneficiaries, regardless of the department that they work in of the level of time that they are able to commit. Our services primarily offer a peer-support network to young people right across the UK, allowing them to access a peer mentor who is of a similar age to them and somebody that they feel more comfortable speaking with.
If successful, you will be joining a growing team of diverse, but likeminded individuals, collaborating to increase the reach of the Charity and improve support provisions available to young people. All of our volunteers and employees are remote workers, but that doesn't stop us keeping in touch and maintaining a strong positive culture amongst our whole team.
About the role
As Youth4Youth continues to grow, we are focusing on strengthening the long-term financial sustainability of the Charity. We are seeking 3 - 4 experienced individuals to join the Board of Directors of a new Commercial Trading Subsidiary (Y4Y Trading Ltd, yet to be incorporated). This is an exciting opportunity for individuals to have a material impact on the success of the wider charity by promoting and ensuring commercial excellence throughout all commercial activities.
Responsibilities
- Attend 4 to 6 Board Meetings per year, each up to 1.5 hours in length and will be held remotely via teams.
- Hold ultimate authority, in line with all management agreements between Y4Y Trading Ltd and Youth4Youth Ltd, to ensure the success of all commercial activities.
- Hold legal responsibility for the subsidiary entity, ensuring that all statutory requirements are met ahead of deadlines.
- Constructively challenge opinions and biases to ensure the right decisions are made, with the ultimate aim of delivering maximum return to the charitable group.
- Providing scrutiny of executive and business performance in meeting agreed strategy, plan, goals and objectives, as well as monitoring reporting of performance.
Skills
- Extensive strategic or leadership experience in relevant areas, including procurement, sales, operational management, vendor management, business development and other key commercial areas.
- Strong communication skills, able to actively challenge and drive decisions forward to the right outcome.
- Ability to foresee problems arising and present solutions to solve potential problems.
- Experience in commercial planning and budgeting desired.
Our mission is to continue to grow towards becoming one of the best charities in the UK. Our aim is to do this by building a diverse team, rich with different backgrounds and perspectives. Therefore, even if you feel you only are a 75% match, we would still love to hear from you. Skills can be learned, but diversity cannot.
Benefits of volunteering with Youth4Youth
We recognise that you will be joining us and giving your time as an 'in-kind' donation, but there must be benefits for you too. When joining our team, you will be open to the following benefits:
- Professional and personal development opportunities in a variety of skill areas through volunteering in real roles. This may be general development or tailored to your specific needs or ambitions
- Becoming a member of a strong network of likeminded individuals, spread across the UK, who you can connect with and collaborate with both within and outside of the Charity
- Access to bespoke discounts, specifically designed for non-profit workers and Youth4Youth volunteers
- Opportunities to truly shape the future of the Charity, having a direct influence over the impact that Youth4Youth has on its direct beneficiaries
The hiring process
The hiring process for a Commercial Trading Subsidiary Board is slightly different to our standard process. Candidates should understand that the process entails:
- A written expression of interest for the role, including a cover letter and CV
- An initial interview, with the interview panel made up of the Group CEO & Chairperson and the Group Commercial Director (Chair of the Trading Subsidiary)
- Successful candidates will be nominated to the Board of Trustees for the Group Charity to be put to a vote
Some roles will have extra stages but we’ll let you know as early as possible if so.
Please let us know if you require any accommodations for the interview process, and we’ll do our best to assist.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
