Trustee Team:

We are looking for Trustees (various roles), who can join our new charity start-up and help us build a solid foundation and help to build a strategy and plan to get Unlock YOUR Potential set-up and running, providing our key services to those who need it.

We are looking for the following Trustee roles:

Chairperson

As Chairperson you will guide the board of trustees and ensure the organisation stays true to its mission.

Here are the primary responsibilities:

1. Leadership: You will lead the board, setting the agenda with the CEO and ensuring that meetings are efficient and productive.

2. Governance: You will ensure that the charity adheres to legal and ethical standards and follow its governing documents.

3. Strategic Oversight: You will work with the Chief Executive and other senior leaders to develop and review the charity's strategic direction.

4. Support and Supervision: You will support the Chief Executive, providing guidance, support and ensuring that the team have all the resources needed to carry out their duties.

5. Representation: You will help recruit and develop board members, ensuring a diverse and effective team, all working towards the same goal and aspirations for Unlock YOUR Potential.

Overall, as Chairperson you will ensure that the charity is well-governed and operates effectively in achieving its goals.

Vice Chairperson

As Vice Chairperson you will support the Chairperson in leading and managing the board of trustees.

Here are the key responsibilities:

1. Support to the Chair: You will assist the Chairperson in their duties, often stepping in when the Chairperson is unavailable.

2. Leadership: You will take on special projects or lead sub-committees, ensuring effective governance and strategic oversight.

3. Representation: You will represent the charity at events and meetings, acting as an ambassador.

As the Vice Chairperson ensure continuity and support in the charity’s leadership, helping to guide and maintain its mission and objectives.

Treasurer

As Treasurer you will be managing the financial affairs of the organisation.

Secretary

As Secretary you will focus on ensuring the smooth running of the board's activities and maintaining effective communication.

1. Meeting Coordination: You will arrange and schedule board meetings, prepares agendas, and distributes necessary documents, book meeting rooms and sort logisitcs for meetings.

2. Minutes and Records: You will take detailed minutes during meetings, record decisions, and track action items to ensure follow-up, ensuring everyone understands what needs to be done, when and by whom.

3. Compliance: You will ensure the charity complies with statutory requirements, such as filing annual returns and maintaining up-to-date records with regulatory bodies and lead on these tasks and duties.

4. Communication: You will act as a liaison between the board and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and timely communication.

5. Documentation: You will create, manage and store important documents, including governing documents, policies, and procedures.

The Role

We now seek a Trustee and Honorary Treasurer for a new charity being formed in England as apart of a pilot reorganisation and consolidation of operations within Britain. This is an exciting opportunity to use your skills and experience to help transform our movement and drive lasting change in communities in the South West of England.

This is an exciting opportunity to help lead Big Leaf Foundation in the next phase of its development, as we transition our self-employed contractors to employee contracts and explore new multi-year core funding opportunities to build greater sustainability in our work. We are looking for someone with direct experience in financial management and/or charity finance and fundraising to fill this role. The Board of Directors ensures the vision, mission and values of the organisation - to support grassroots organisations and build stronger, more inclusive movements for Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for all, especially in challenging contexts through grants for civil society, organisational strengthening of grantees, and knowledge for advocacy. We are now seeking a youth member to join our Board of Directors. 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Attend quarterly and where necessary ad-hoc Board meetings including Members meetings and AGM (virtual)
2. Ensure the vision, mission and values as set out in the AmplifyChange Strategic Plan are upheld and implemented
3. Have oversight on the management of risk and ensure compliance and accountability with the governing document, external regulators and UK law

PERSON SPECIFICATION

·Young (under 30) with passion for and experience in area related to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights ideally in Africa or South Asia.

·Demonstrable experience in young people and youth networks for national, regional and/or international advocacy initiatives

·Demonstrable experience in young people and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) advocacy and programming

·Experience of working with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages, sexual orientations and gender identities

·Involvement in setting advocacy priorities and leading coalitions

REPORTING AND ORGANISATION

Role requirements and time commitment - Quarterly 2-hour (virtual) board meetings, with pre-reading.  Participation in additional conference calls as needed, and optional sub-committees. AmplifyChange Board members serve a 3-year term and can be eligible for re-appointment.

This is a volunteer position, but reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed.  

Trustees will be expected to work remotely.  Occasional travel may be required to Bath, UK.

What you will be doing

• Providing strategic leadership to our charity and supporting fundraising, membership and engagement initiatives
• Ensuring our charity meets constitutional and governance requirements
• Ensuring the financial integrity and long-term sustainability of our charity
• Ensuring board and subgroup meetings and our AGM are held on a regular basis
• Building relationships and representing CPRE at community, council and partnership meetings
• Liaising with local CPREs, regional groups and national CPRE
• Supporting trustees and volunteers and identifying candidates for succession
• Safeguarding the good name and values of our charity
• Providing or arranging line management of any employees
• Advocating the work of CPRE through public speaking and media interviews
• Chairs also represent our charity by being the voting member at national CPRE

The skills you need

• A commitment to CPRE policies, brand, campaigns and initiatives
• Some previous experience in leadership, management and organisational development
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate diplomacy, impartiality, respect and confidentiality
• Previous experience of committee work- paid or voluntary
• Knowledge of environmental and countryside issues
• Knowledge of the charity sector including funding and governance
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Experience of working with people from different backgrounds and abilities
• Be able to commit to volunteering regularly to suit your availability, including attendance at meetings

Founded in 2005, the charity is dedicated to harnessing the power of sport to uplift disadvantaged communities. They partner with Sport England and Sport Wales, supporting a network of over 1600 organisations to provide accessible sports opportunities. Their vision is to create healthier, safer, and more successful communities through sport, with a focus on equity and inclusion.

Role Overview:

This is an unpaid, strategic leadership role with reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses. As Chair, you will play a key role in ensuring effective governance, supporting the Executive team in setting vision and policy, and promoting impactful change within the organisation.

As Chair you will:

• Lead the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance and strategic oversight.
• Create a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and shared decision-making among trustees.
• Collaborate with the Executive to set vision, values, and strategic policies
• Monitor organisational performance and ensure financial sustainability
• Safeguard the culture, reputation, and values of the organisation.

The Package:

The Chair role is unremunerated, but reasonable out-of-pocket expenses related to travel, subsistence, and accommodation will be covered.

This position requires a commitment of at least two days per month and involves heading three online Board meetings and three in-person awaydays annually. The Chair will also engage with the Chief Executive and other Executive team members on governance and strategy, and attend key events and gatherings.
