The Infection Prevention Society are recruiting a volunteer to join our Board of Trustees and chair our Audit and Finance Committee
Our charity is about to begin a period of transformational change. We are in the process of recruiting our first staff-team, and are now looking for an excellent Treasurer to work with the Board of Trustees and support our new six-strong team (which will include a CEO and a Financial Controller who is an experienced and qualified charity accountant).
We are an organisation our new Trustees will be proud to be a part of. Our current Board of Trustees are excited for our future and our members are supportive of the changes to the Society’s management structure. For the past year we have worked closely with our Interim Managing Director and our members, Branches, Special Interest Groups and Business Groups to develop our new strategy - Working together to prevent infection.
The aim of the Infection Prevention Society (IPS) is to inform, promote and sustain evidence-based infection prevention policy and practice to create a health and care system where no person's health and wellbeing is harmed by preventable infection.
Our broad membership includes infection control practitioners, scientists, clinicians and industry experts and we support our members via branches across the UK and Ireland. We deliver educational opportunities to support best practice in infection prevention and control through an annual conference, study days, our academic journal, and research activity. We support our members with a competency framework and credentialing system, international engagement opportunities and product evaluation services for industry.
The IPS has an independent Board of Trustees who are responsible for governance and risk management functions of the society. These include developing long-term strategy, assuring financial stability and compliance with governing documents, and evaluating performance. The Board works with the Management Executive Group (MEG) who are responsible for leading and managing the business activity of the Society.
Who are we looking for?
Our new trustee must have skills in both of the following areas:
· Finance
· Strategic leadership
The trustee will chair our Audit and Finance Committee and as such will need to be a qualified accountant with a CCAB recognised qualification.
As a Trustee you will be able to contribute to the work of the society by:
· Shaping the strategic direction
· Making decisions that enhance its influence
· Assuring good governance of the Society
We are looking for applicants who really want to make a positive impact on our organisation. They should have strategic vision and good judgement, an ability to think creatively, and willingness to contribute opinions and ideas. A willingness to challenge is also desirable. An understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship is desirable although Trustees induction and training would be available. Previous experience as a Trustee is also desirable but not essential. Although the trustee positions are unpaid, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Trustees induction and training would be available.
The Board of Trustees hold a minimum of four meetings per year and trustees are also expected to attend the Annual General meeting which is held in the autumn.
The Audit and Finance Committee hold a minimum of four meetings per year. It is anticipated that where possible these meetings will be held virtually.

About the Role
As a result of increased awareness and signposting for individuals receiving a positive CACNA1C diagnosis, our community is increasing in size. Therefore, we are seeking new Trustees who will take an active role in the board, bringing new skills and ideas for how to support our community, advocating for improvement to CACNA1C diagnosis, outcomes and quality of life and to support CACNA1C research initiatives.
Our new Trustees will be responsible for setting the overall strategy and direction for TSA, as well as monitoring the charity’s activity to evaluate progress towards our objectives and goals.
This can include making sure the charity complies with regulations, overseeing financial management and monitoring financial performance, creating and implementing policies and procedures to mitigate risk, and supporting the charity’s operations. How big is the current Board and what opportunities might there be in the future?

The board currently consists of 7 Trustees. As the charity’s turnover continues to grow, they are currently going through an evolution in their structure and the operations of the charity. This means the new Trustees will be presented with enormous opportunities to shape the future of the charity and to play a leading role on the board moving forward. As a result, it is expected that there will be an opportunity for a new Trustee to develop into the Chair of Trustees role soon.
What are you looking for in candidates?

As a small team, we are ideally seeking those who have prior experience of being a Trustee at a UK based charity or working within the UK charity sector, who can bring demonstratable experience of navigating the challenges that face small charities.
However, we also welcome applications from candidates with an interest in or prior knowledge of charity law and compliance; the change management process; volunteer management; financial planning, processing and auditing; regulatory or policy issues; data management or fundraising.
UK based candidates are preferred, however this is not essential.
What time commitment do you expect from Trustees?

As well as our Board of Trustees meetings, which currently take place 4 times a year, we ask Trustees to dedicate around 2 hours per week to the work of the charity. However, this may fluctuate during busy or quiet periods.

Trustee role description
The duties of a Trustee are to:
- contribute actively to the Board of Trustees’ role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy and defining goals
- to set targets, and evaluate performance against agreed targets
- ensure that Carers UK complies with and pursues its objects as defined in its governing document, the Articles of Association

Nations Trustee role description
We are specifically looking for two Nations Trustees, one each for Northern Ireland and Wales. In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, the Nations Trustee will be expected to ensure that the Carers UK Board is informed on key issues affecting carers in the respective Nations.
In order to discharge this responsibility, the Nations Trustee will be expected to:
- attend the quarterly Nation Committee meetings and the Annual Conference
- establish working relationships with the Director of Devolved Nations, and with the Chair and other members of the Nations Committees
- represent Carers Wales and Carers Northern Ireland at some external events
- sit on recruitment panels as required.
Person specification

Tanzania Development Trust (TDT) works in some of the poorest parts of Tanzania, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty by funding small projects that meet their essential needs.
It sponsors 40-50 small rural development projects p.a. in Tanzania, mainly in the areas of clean water, girls' education and small income generating activities. It also has 3-4 larger, longer-term projects. Its primary function is fundraising, although it provides general project management and business advice where appropriate.
Around half of its income comes from individual donors, and half from Trusts & Foundations. It helps villagers in Tanzania who lack the capacity and language skills to present their projects to international donors, conducting project appraisals and monitoring project outcomes on their behalf. The projects are implemented by the villagers themselves, or by small local contractors.
TDT is run entirely by volunteers (17 regular volunteers in the UK and 16 local representatives in Tanzania). It has no paid staff, premises or overheads, so 100% of all money raised goes directly to projects in Tanzania.
We are looking for additional Trustees who can help us to grow by identifying potential donors, increasing awareness of our activities, and strengthening our project selection and monitoring procedures.
We would like at least one of the new Trustees to help us with fund-raising by piloting more innovative and creative approaches. Experience of living or working in Tanzania is not essential, but to improve the Board’s racial diversity we would like at least one of the new Trustees to be of Tanzanian origin or have strong connections with East Africa.
The Trustees are all unpaid. Although their main job is the overall direction of the business, they can become involved in day-to-day operations if they so wish. We all work remotely, which helps us to engage with our local representatives in Tanzania in everything we do.

We are looking for volunteer trustees to join the board of Alternatives to Violence Project Britain charity. This is a volunteer role with expenses paid.
Introduction to Alternatives to Violence Project Britain
The Alternatives to Violence Project is a network of skilled volunteers who run workshops for anyone who wants to find ways of resolving conflict without resorting to violence. We work in the community and in prisons.
What difference will you make?
The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) serves people who want to handle conflict well without using or suffering violence, whether physical or psychological. Our trained volunteer facilitators deliver intensive, low-cost, conflict-resolution skills workshops in the community, in prisons and in other settings. We reach diverse communities, attracting people from across a wide spectrum of ages, ethnic backgrounds, and socio-economic backgrounds.
We are looking for new trustees to join our Board.
We are looking for candidates with the ability to think creatively and strategically, and exercise good, independent judgement in helping us achieve our ambitions. Whilst you do not need to have prior non-executive experience, we are looking for individuals with a good grasp of governance and strategic leadership.
Candidates should:
- Understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of being a trustee
- Be committed to AVP, its purpose and its values as set out in the constitution, strategic aims and values statement
- Be willing to devote the necessary time and effort to the role of Trustee
- Possess good judgement and independence of mind
- Have good strategic vision
- Be willing to work collectively and effectively as part of a group
Specifically, we are looking for one or more of the following areas of experience and expertise in our new trustees: Safeguarding, Fundraising.
Although you are under no obligation to do so, ideally you would volunteer within this role for a period of a three year term. This will help you get the most out of the experience and provide some consistency for the charity.
Main duties and requirements of the Trustee role
1. Act with integrity and avoid personal conflicts of interest
2. Act jointly with other Trustees
3. Agree to undertake limited projects from time to time dependant on your own specialism
4. Provide guidance on issues in which you have particular expertise
5. Accept joint responsibility for all decisions made by Trustees
6. Consider getting external professional advice on all matters where there may be material risk to the charity, or where the Trustees may be in breach of their duties
7. Act reasonably and honestly, ensuring that discussions and debates are minuted to demonstrate the reasonableness of decisions made
8. Have the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries in mind at all times
9. Attend all meetings and communicate with the Chair about necessary absences
10. Seek to inform yourself about all aspects of AVP’s work

1. A stable and well functioning Board of Trustees
2. Increase in workshops and Distance Learning opportunities
3. Increased funds and volunteer base
Where you will be working
Mainly at home, or remote opportunity.
All our board meetings are currently held online (4-5 meetings a year). We can occasionally gather for an annual event.

Mostly outside office hours

Term
Our trustees’ roles have initial term of three years, with the possibility of renewal for further 3 years.

Home-Start Epsom, Ewell and Banstead (HSEEB) is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families and children. Staff and Volunteers offer regular support, including providing emotional and practical help to families in the families’ own homes and connecting families with specialist services within the community.
We are looking to recruit a new Chair of Trustees and additional Trustees; who will increase the range of skills and experience on the Board. This is essential for us to make the best decisions for HSEEB and our families. For the Chair role, you will need leadership skills and a good understanding of governance. For the Trustee roles, there is no requirement for you to have been a trustee before, however, you do need to be passionate about improving the lives of children and the families we support.
You will be good at working with others, ready to speak up and ask questions, be thoughtful and open to learning and able to stand back to see the bigger picture. You must take the responsibilities of a Trustee seriously.
We are looking to better reflect the experiences of our community, to bring the skills and experiences of diverse Trustees to the Board, as well as recruiting Trustees with lived experience of or insight into socio-economic disadvantage.

About Been There:
Been There is a small (but growing!) charity in the form of an app that connects people aged 18 and over with a vetted and trained mentor to help with any body image issues they may be experiencing. This gives them the opportunity to speak to someone who has ‘Been There’ themselves. Our Mentors are here to support, empower and, most importantly, listen.
About the role:
If you are an experienced fundraiser, we need your help! Been There’s Board of Trustees share ultimate responsibility for governing the charity and directing how it is managed and run. As a member of the Board, you will help set the strategic aims, objectives and direction of the charity. The skills and knowledge you bring will enhance the Board and support Been There in achieving its charitable objectives
As a Fundraising Trustee, you will play a key role within our charity in assisting the Board to develop an ambitious fundraising strategy and help us to further improve the effectiveness of our income generation so we can maximise the number of service users we can provide support to. You will help to ensure our fundraising is of the highest standard and that we are meeting our fundraising objectives as well as complying with our legal duties. Alongside relevant experience, you will also possess an ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritising multiple tasks, and will be a natural team player with excellent written and spoken English.
Board meetings are held every other month for 2 hours (two via Zoom and one per quarter in Kingston-Upon-Thames). If required, this role can be completely remote and you can attend the quarterly meeting over video call.
Role Summary:
· To assist the Board of Trustees to develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy for Been There
· To guide, support, and challenge the Communications Manager and fundraising volunteers.
· To report to the Trustees on a regular basis, giving an update on fundraising achievements, plans, and progress.
· To ensure fundraising is of the highest standard and priority within a robust governance framework that meets all relevant legislation.
Main Responsibilities:
· Oversee fundraising to make sure it is carried out in legal, honest, and accountable ways.
· Strategically assess where fundraising fits into the overall charity strategy, and work with the Trustees to ensure effective income generation is being achieved.
· Contributing knowledge of fundraising techniques, best practice, and strategies.
· Assessing risks in new fundraising directions, alerting the Board of Trustees in a timely manner, as and when necessary, of key concerns.
· To report to the Board at a strategic level on the successes and challenges of the fundraising strategy.
· To help the charity further develop its fundraising capabilities through effective people and processes.
· On an ad hoc basis, to work with the Chair of Trustees and the Communications Manager, outside of the Trustee meetings, to support and develop the fundraising strategy.
Person Specification:
· To have substantial background as a senior charity fundraiser with a sound understanding and experience of charity fundraising at strategic and operational levels.
· A good understanding of fundraising within a small charity and the challenges facing small charities.
· Experience of diverse income generation practices.
· Sound, independent judgement and ability to think creatively.
· Ability to give constructive feedback and provide challenge.
· Experience in the charitable or voluntary sector.

We Stand is the only national charity that specialises in helping non-abusing parents and carers to protect and support their sexually abused children.
Our Mission is to provide support in a non - judgmental environment for non abusing parents and carers of sexually abused children.
