Love Rwanda Initiative
A youth and women organisation focused on empowerment programs with an emphasis on Sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), Mental health and Livelihoods.
-
Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Limited access to information and SRHR services: Challenge: Young people and women in Rwanda still remain out of reach from adequate information prior to their first sexual act, which brews misconception of facts hence leading to risk behaviors. High levels of teenage pregnancy and unsafe abortion: Challenge: Teenage pregnancy rates remain high and many young women continue to resort to unsafe abortions since they cannot access safety services. Gender-Based Violence Challenge: Gender-based violence, in particular sexual assault and domestic violence, is rampant against the health and well-being of women and girls.
-
Mental Health: Stigma/Lack of Awareness Challenge: The stigmatization of mental health issues prevails with a corresponding lack of awareness and understanding about mental health in the community. Lack of Mental Health Services: Challenge: The avenues available for mental health services are very few, and the personnel is few in number; therefore, accessibility to the required aid becomes difficult.
-
Livelihoods: Unemployment and Underemployment: Challenge: Most youths and women face high levels of unemployment or low wage employment with no stability. Lack of Entrepreneurial Opportunities: Challenge: Women and youth lack resources and facilitation to start and sustain enterprises of their own. Economic Dependency: Challenge: Economic dependency on male family members constrains women's autonomy and puts them at a low decision-making power.
- Comprehensive sexual education programs, partnering with local clinics to provide easy access, and raising awareness campaigns regarding SRHR in the community.
- Contraception, family planning, and müş promoting safe and legal abortion services.
- Support service provision to survivors of GBV, including counseling and legal aid, with community education on prevention of violence against women for gender equality.
- Conduct sensitization and campaigns to raise awareness on mental health, reduction of stigma, and promotion of good mental health in the community.
- Counseling centers, training of mental health professionals with peer support groups
- Provide vocational-training programs for people with marketable skills that will enhance job employability.
- Provide entrepreneurship training skills and financial literacy accompanied by access to micro-finance and grants for people willing to start small businesses.
- Economic Empowerment by means of livelihood programs that allow women to generate their own income towards financial independence.
Dear Volunteers,
Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of youth and women in Rwanda? Join Love Rwanda Initiative and use your unique skills in fundraising, graphic design, project management, and more to contribute to transformative programs in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Mental Health, and Livelihoods. As an online volunteer, you will have the opportunity to formulate campaigns and advise on different projects, design impactful campaign materials, and manage critical projects. - Time management and organisation skills
- Respectful and non-judgemental approach to others

Location: Remote
Salary: Remuneration: £15,000 per annum
About Internet Matters
Internet Matters is a not for profit organisation dedicated to ensuring children can enjoy the internet and connected technology safely. Established in 2014 by BT, Sky, TalkTalk, and Virgin Media O2, we collaborate with leading industry partners to ensure more positive actions are taken to keep children safe and well online.
Our vision is to inspire leading organisations to create a future where all children and young people can safely benefit from the impact of connected technology. We strive to provide parents, carers, and professionals with evidence-based guidance to help children confidently embrace the internet.
Our campaigns and partnerships raise awareness to ensure children and young people are happy and healthy online. Furthermore, we represent the views and interests of families to policymakers, ensuring their voices are heard.
About the role
We seek an exceptional leader to join us as our new Independent Chair, guiding our mission and vision forward.
As Chair, you will lead our Board of Directors, which is made up of representatives from our Members and Joint CEOs.
Our Chair also leads our CEO Governing Committee, which meets twice a year and ensures our Members and Joint CEOs are accountable for the organisation’s goals.
Our Chair will provide inclusive leadership, fostering positive relationships with senior leaders across industries, parliamentarians, and policymakers.
In this role, the new Chair will guide Internet Matters to maximise its positive impact on society, supporting the development and delivery of our five-year strategy and annual plans.
We are looking for someone who will act as an ambassador for Internet Matters, enhancing our profile at external functions and media events, and actively engaging with senior industry leaders and government officials to support our strategic objectives.
Our Chair’s leadership will ensure the Board has the right balance of skills and experience. They will chair meetings impartially, bring objectivity to the decision-making process, and ensure that decisions are effectively implemented.

Raising Futures Kenya supports young people in Kenya to become self-reliant and live free from poverty, through technical vocational training and business skills courses, and specialised support such as counselling. We are a small, award-winning charity who are actively shifting power to our Kenyan partner NGO.
We are looking for an experienced finance professional to join our Board of Trustees as the Treasurer, to oversee the appropriate management of charity finances, adhering to relevant regulatory compliance, and to lead on reporting on the financial situation to the Board.
We are in Year 2 of our 5 year Strategic Plan, where the focus is on shifting the decision making power to our partner NGO in Kenya. Ultimately our long-term goal is to not be needed, but we realise the funding landscape is a long way off that at the moment.
As one of our Trustees you'll be part of an award-winning small charity who is leading the way in ethical development, primarily by actively shifting power and decision making to our incredible partner NGO in Kenya. We're a small charity but we definitely have a big impact and want to share our learning and knowledge with other NGOs who want to follow the same path of shifting power. We don't just talk about what we want to do, we get it done.
Volunteering your time as a Board member is a two-way street, we want to ensure you get something from it too, so we'll do all we can to ensure you get any experience, training or skills you'd like.
Please see the detailed role description for more information about our charity and what the role entails. Please do not hesitate to contact Kirsty, the CEO, in advance of applying if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.
Our mission is to create opportunities with children and young people in Kenya to break the cycle of poverty and inequality and fulfil their potential
