We are looking to recruit a Project Control & Central Planning Manager who is able to use their experience to deliver success across both project control and central planning.

What is a Branch Chair?
There are SSAFA branches throughout the UK and overseas. Many are further divided into local areas called divisions. Each branch has a Chair to oversee all aspects of the branch. Ultimately accountable to the Chair of the Board of Trustees, through the National Chairman your role is to ensure that the branch is running in line with SSAFA’s Royal Charter Rules, Regulations, and policies. Also, to ensure that clients and volunteers are safe, all services provided are appropriate and effective and that the branch is financially sound. Our clients come from all backgrounds and age groups and may have served in WW2 or in a more recent conflict like the Falklands or Afghanistan. More people than ever are contacting SSAFA for financial, practical and emotional support. To do this we need local branches and volunteers who can coordinate people, ensure the local population know about SSAFA and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Our branches support local volunteers to deliver services to veterans, serving personnel and their families. Some branches are divided into smaller divisions to ensure the best local service delivery. Each branch has a team of volunteer caseworkers, support volunteers, executive roles, and fundraisers.
When would you be needed and where would you be based?
This role is about leadership, coordination, and administration. As part of your local branch, you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home. The role requires an ongoing time commitment, usually about 2-3 days per week. In addition, you would need to organise and attend regular meetings throughout the year.
What would you be doing?
- Providing leadership to the Branch and ensuring that all activities comply with SSAFA regulations both directly, and through the Branch Secretary, other Branch Officers, and Divisional Officers.
- Providing support and guidance to volunteers in office holder roles, and support with recruitment of volunteers into these positions to ensure the sustainability of the branch.
- Ensuring the financial integrity of the Branch, including the appointment of Treasurers and a local fundraising programme to meet branch running costs.
- Ensuring that all data is processed and held in accordance with SSAFA’s data management policies.
- Monitoring volunteer numbers against the demand for support and working with other volunteers, regional and central office staff to attract and recruit new volunteers as required.
- Ensuring that all volunteers are recruited, inducted, supported, and managed in line with SSAFA policies, such as the Volunteering Policy, Volunteer Code of Conduct, Data Protection Policy, and Safeguarding Policy.
- Building relationships with regional and central office staff, local voluntary organisations and, if applicable, SSAFA Service committees, local military establishments, prisons etc.
- Overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness raising so that potential clients, volunteers, and supporters know how to contact the branch.
- Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s Central Office
- Overseeing a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc.
- Supporting any salaried branch staff and ensuring that their line management arrangements are working appropriately.
- Resolve any complaints that are suitable for local resolution in accordance with SSAFA’s Complaints Policy and procedures, referring upwards any that are not suitable for local resolution.
The remit of this role may change over the next 12-18 months depending on the outcome of a trial currently being undertaken.

About White Ribbon Alliance UK: We prioritise the eradication of gender-based violence and the promotion of gender equity in sexual and reproductive health and rights, especially for marginalised and underrepresented communities. We enable access to unbiased and evidenced-based resources, education, and support for women, girls, and trans individuals. We influence healthcare professionals, hospital systems, policy makers, and the public to centre the human rights of women, girls and trans men, intersex, and non-binary people throughout the lifecycle of their sexual health needs.
Purpose of the Role: The Volunteer Research Assistant will support White Ribbon Alliance UK's efforts to improve maternal and reproductive health by conducting research, analysing data, and contributing to reports and publications. This role is crucial for informing our advocacy and program development.
Our aspirations for activities the volunteer would perform:

Befriending Volunteer
You can make a difference…Age UK Wandsworth is a small, local, independent charity that has been working with older people in the area since 1963. We rely on your support to keep serving the older residents with in the Wamdsworth community. We have a dedicated team of experienced staff and a large network of dedicated local volunteers. Our aim is to enable everyone to age well in Wandsworth. We would love your help to be able to continue to support older Wandsworth residents.
Our Be-a-Friend service is one of our longest running services, matching people over 65, who live alone and have limited social contact, with a friendly local volunteer with similar hobbies and interests. The volunteer and their new friend set up a suitable time for them to meet each week for a chat and a cup of tea, which could be during the day, in the evening on the way home from work or even on the weekends . If you would prefer to volunteer from home, you can also be matched with an older person for telephone befriending. For many of our matched pairs, this is the beginning of a firm friendship.
Befriending Plus
Befriending Plus is an extended version of the Be-a-Friend programme, for individulas needing help with life admin and small tasks as well as companionship. For Befriending Plus pairs, time spent together can include helping to use a phone or tablet, helping the client to organise their file, going out for a coffee or popping to the post office together. This support can help older people to stay independent at home for longer, as well as increasing their confidence to do these tasks when the volunteer is not there.

We are looking for an experienced senior finance leader to chair our Finance and Resources Committee (FRC). As well as principal oversight of all financial matters, you will also overlook the disposition of the investment portfolio and strategic planning for our whole property portfolio.

We have supported people and communities across Wales since 1880. We existed before the NHS in Wales and provided the earliest medical support to those who were sick or injured.
Since March 2020, weve worked closely with NHS Wales, increasing our capacity and developing new innovative ways of working to assist and relieve the overwhelming pressure on the frontline healthcare. We are first responders and provide services for people who have fallen and those in crisis. We look after hundreds of thousands of people at over 1000 events per year from football crowds to marathon runners and night time revellers.
We continue to play a major role in strengthening community resilience and ensuring people are trained in first aid so they can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved with a blend of St John People, both employees and volunteers.

Job responsibilities
In accordance with our governance rules, our current trustee appointments run for a triennium with potential for a further triennium, presenting an exciting opportunity for suitable persons to join us in governing the charity.
Statutory duties of SJAC trustees
- Ensuring the organisation pursues our stated objects (purposes), as defined in our governing document, by developing and agreeing a long-term strategy.
- Ensuring the organisation complies with our governing document (i.e. our trust deed, constitution or memorandum and articles of association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
- Ensuring the organisation applies resources exclusively in pursuance of our charitable objects(i.e. the charity must not spend money on activities that are not included in our own objects, however worthwhile or charitable those activities are) for the benefit of the public.
- Safeguarding the good name and values of our organisation.
- Ensuring the organisation defines its goals and evaluates performance against agreed targets.
- Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the organisation, including having appropriate policies and procedures in place.
- Ensuring the financial stability of the organisation.
- Protecting and managing the property of the charity and ensuring the proper investment of the charity's funds.
- Following proper and formal arrangements for the appointment, supervision, support, appraisal and remuneration of the Chief Executive.
Commitment
- Preparing for and attending quarterly in person meetings of the Board each year (currently full days during working hours).
- Attending St John Ambulance Cymru' s AGM (which usually precedes the June Board meeting).
- Being a member of, and actively participating in, at least one (usually more) of the Boards Standing Committees Audit, Risk & Governance, People, Financial Resource, Fundraising & Engagement, Digital & Data, Priory Honours & Awards which all meet at least quarterly. This will include a mixture of face-to-face, hybrid and online meetings, and the requisite preparation work and following up of actions outside the meetings.
- Supporting St John Ambulance Cymru events throughout the year, including the annual Investitures.
- Being responsive to emails and being available to offer ad hoc assistance / advice as required.
- In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board of trustees reach sound decisions. The role will involve attending up to six meetings a year, all digitally accessible, but with the aim of meeting in person on two of those occasions in London and at our offices near Chelmsford. In addition to providing strategic oversight, support, and challenge to the organisation, which comprises 24 staff and over 120 volunteers, there will be opportunities to engage in various ways, with an average time commitment of three hours per month.

The commitment that we expect of a trustee is to attend six in-person Board meetings (each lasting c. 3 hours) per annum. Two of these are part of full day programmes that include additional time spent on meeting students, liaison with industry and strategic matters, which helps trustees to be connected and informed and to gain further from the experience. Additionally, the Audit Committee, comprised of a smaller group of trustees, typically meets three time per annum for meetings of up to 2 hours – normally online.
The roles of our trustees/directors are non-executive and the roles are unremunerated, but they present a great opportunity to ‘give something back’, the excitement that comes from engaging with emerging talent, and networking opportunities with retailers and education specialists. Recent expansion in the Group’s activities and a forthcoming relocation to new state of the art premises in central London make this a particularly exciting time to get on board.

We are seeking new members of the Ministries Committee to start 1 September 2024, initially for a term of three years, renewable for a further 3 years if desired.
This is a well-established committee which will report to the new Connexional Council, which from September 2024 will be the trustee body of the Methodist Church in Great Britain. The Committee is charged with responsibility to keep in constant review the life of the Methodist Church as it relates to Ministries, to reflect strategically and review ministries related work that will enable the work of the Church to be more effective, and to review the formational and support needs of those who exercise ministry on behalf of the Church. Working collaboratively with other committee members and with the Mission Committee and Resourcing Committee, you will bring a range of circuit experiences or other experiences of the Methodist Church to the work of the Ministries Committee.
Expressions of interest are invited from both lay and ordained members of the Methodist Church in Britain. You will have some experience of serving on a church body and some experience or interest in cross-cultural ministry, stationing or training.

Rape Crisis South London (RASASC) works in partnership with Rape Crisis England and Wales on the 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line. Support line volunteers provide telephone support, information and signposting to survivors of sexual violence aged 16+ across the country. We are open 24 hours a day. Shifts are 3 hours long and volunteers can choose which shift to sign up to, to fit in around any other commitments. Will you share your counselling or psychotherapy skills as a counsellor or therapist to join an online counselling service for patients and families affected by a chronic pain condition (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome)?
We're looking for 2 qualified counsellors, psychotherapists or psychologists ideally with some experience of working with chronic pain patients or lived experience of chronic illness, who may want to volunteer their skills supporting our adult service users (aged 18 & over) and help us to continue developing a mental health support service.
As a Volunteer Counsellor/Therapist you’ll be providing remote counselling/therapy support services to adults aged 18 and over many of whom are isolated and in need of mental health services. You’ll be providing one-to-one counselling/therapy sessions online via Zoom or by phone. With your recognised counselling qualifications and experience you will be an asset to our small charity and to our services users.
Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, our volunteer counsellors / therapists provide person centred counselling (general talking counselling) or integrative counselling, or specialist services such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), ACT, CFT and EMDR for CRPS patients, or their families & close relatives.
People will be referred both by health or legal professionals as well as having patients and carers themselves referring into to the service.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your counselling and therapy skills, organisation, communication and team working skills.
Most importantly you’ll be providing essential services that help make sure no one has to face CRPS alone. Be the hope for CRPS.
What the role involves
This role may vary depending on needs, but is likely to include:

Undertake a client assessments, followed by person-centred counselling (via Zoom or phone) to our clients, offering up to 20 sessions for each client plus 4 psychometric assessments

Providing one-to-one counselling sessions to clients aged 18 & over

Update our database with the client’s basic information and session attendance

Maintain succinct, relevant session notes and store these confidentially and securely in acccordahce with GDPR
- Attending and participating in peer supervision support

Attend CPD training to ensure your knowledge stays current
- Participating in volunteer meetings
- Maintaining client confidentiality, upholding data protection and equal opportunities principle

Attend monthly Supervision and peer support sessions to ensure safe working practices
We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, including a full induction. You will have a chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us. We can offer you a supervisor as well as expenses for annual insurance and an external supervisor if required.
What you need for this role
Essential
- Be a member (including student membership) of one of the recognised organisations (see below)
- Level 4 Diploma level qualifications as a minimum (unfortunately no students at this time), Degree or Masters in Counselling, Counselling/Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, EMDR
- Minimum of 100 hours supervised
- Proof of professional indemnity insurance annually - we may consider paying this as an expense but commitment to the charity is required
- A valid DBS certificate (enhanced version), which is less than three years old and renewed every three years (the charity can provide where necessary)
- Able to keep people’s personal data safe

Willing and able to provide counselling via Zoom from a private location with a stable WiFi connection

Able to support a minimum of 3 clients a week, being three hours of your time for counselling sessions plus time for administration. We ideally hope you to offer the charity a minimum commitment of six months.
