The Role
As a Flyer Distributor you will play a crucial role in helping to raise awareness about our services and events within the Enfield community. You will be responsible for disseminating promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and event announcements to various locations within the Enfield area.
- Distribute promotional materials provided by Age UK Enfield to designated locations across the Enfield area. This may include community centers, libraries, local businesses, healthcare facilities, and other relevant locations.
- Engage with members of the public in a friendly and courteous manner while distributing flyers. Answer any questions they may have about Age UK Enfield's services and provide basic information about upcoming events or initiatives.
- Keep accurate records of the locations visited and the quantity of promotional materials distributed. Report back to the supervisor on to provide updates on distribution progress.
- Act as an ambassador for Age UK Enfield by promoting the organisation's mission, values, and services to the community. Help to increase brand recognition and visibility within the local area.

Operating since 2001, The Hepatitis C Trust (HCT) is the only national UK hepatitis C charity. It is a peer-led and peer run organisation; most of its board, staff and volunteers have been affected by hepatitis C. Alongside the delivery of a national peer support programme we lobby and educate policy makers and raise awareness to ensure hepatitis C stays on their agenda and we reach elimination.

We are looking for a new treasurer for our Board of Trustees to work with us and support us through this next exciting phase of our journey.
Role Overview:
As a Trustee at The Hepatitis C Trust with a focus on the Treasurer role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the financial stability and integrity of The Hepatitis C Trust. You will work closely with the Board of Trustees and the Chief Executive to oversee the financial management of the charity, providing strategic guidance and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic
· To assist and advise in the formation of the Charity’s strategy with particular regard to ensuring that the Charity has the resources to deliver the strategy.
· Ensure all strategic plans are financially appraised and budgets are aligned to both short-term and long-term objectives each year.
2 Financial Oversight
· To ensure that the Board receives appropriate budgetary and financial information on the activities of the charity including Annual Accounts
· To ensure that all accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies
· To work with the CEO in the appointment of auditors and review on a regular basis.
· To work in close partnership with the CEO in executing their responsibilities and achieving their goals.
3 Assets and Investments
· To ensure that the Charity has an appropriate investment policy
· To ensure that the Charity monitors the performance of its investments and to set a appropriate reserves policy
· To ensure that all equipment and assets are adequately maintained and accounted for.
· Ensuring that there is no conflict between any investment held and the aims and objects of the charity
· Monitoring the organisation’s investment activity and ensuring it is consistent with the organisation’s policies and legal responsibilities
4. Governance
· To ensure that the Board is aware of its financial duties and responsibilities and the need to comply with all legislation
· To ensure that all financial policies, procedures and the appointment of external financial advisors are reviewed on a regular basis
· Ensure financial reports to the trustees are comprehensible and properly discussed
· To ensure that the Board’s scheme of delegation is reviewed on a regular basis
· To act as Chair of the Finance and Governance sub-committee of the Board
Person Specification
· Qualified accountant with demonstration of not-for-profit awareness and knowledge
· Competent IT skills, with working knowledge of QuickBooks (or similar accounting software)
· Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to members of the board and other stakeholders
· Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship, and the Treasurer role in particular

· The Treasurer will be expected to visit the charity office at least once every two/three months to meet with the CEO.
· The board meets a maximum of 4 times a year and the Treasurer is expected to be available for all meetings, in person or virtual – dates agreed in advance.
· The Treasurer will set up and Chair the Finance Sub-Committee which we anticipate will meet 3 times a year.
Location
Board meetings are conducted at either the Charity office (SE1 3QG) usually once a year or virtually, by prior agreement.
Trustee general responsibilities
In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the Treasurer as a Trustee has the following general responsibilities:
· Contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving strategic direction to the charity, setting overall strategy and policy, setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets;
· Ensure the financial stability of the organisation and the proper investment of the Charity's funds;
· Ensure the Charity applies its resources exclusively in pursuing its objectives;
· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the Charity;
· Safeguard the good name and values of the Charity;
· Declare any conflict of interest while carrying out the duties of a Trustee;
· Be collectively responsible for the actions of the Charity and other Trustees;
· Participate in other tasks as arise from time to time, such as interviewing new staff, helping with fundraising;
· Attend meetings and subcommittee meetings as appropriate and read papers in preparation for the meeting;
· Keep informed about the activities of the charity and wider issues which affect its work.

WORTH is a charity providing long term aftercare to women affected by Domestic Abuse. We offer clients 1-1 support and a range of wellbeing groups including art, writing, music and self-defence to help rebuild their confidence and self-esteem.
We provide a safe space for clients to share experiences, give and receive practical and emotional support, learn new skills, reduce isolation, build friendships, and give women their voice back. It is a space where women can focus on their future and we can support our clients in their healing, post abuse.
To be able to provide this support we rely on a great team of volunteers with a wide skill set and a whole lot of passion to enable our services to work effectively.
Our Board of Trustees play a vital role in making sure that WORTH achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management, administration and governance of the charity. They also ensure that WORTH has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the CEO to enable WORTH to grow and thrive and support more women in need.
Trustee Duties:
- Support and provide advice on WORTH's purpose, vision, goals and activities.
- Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation.
- Oversee WORTH's financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.

As a small charity, there will be times when trustees will need to be actively involved beyond Trustee Board meetings. This may involve scrutinising meeting papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.
What we are looking for
We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking and skills on our Board of Trustees. We are particularly interested in candidates with business, finance and fundraising experience.
Previous governance experience is preferable but not essential. The role is open to remote and local applicants.

Terms of office

Time commitment

About Us:
Evolve Counselling is a long-established charitable social enterprise, providing low cost, affordable or funded mental health counselling to adults in Cambridgeshire and surrounding counties. Our professional counselling community is made up of 50 – 60 qualified self-employed practitioners, working part-time to deliver talking therapies both online and in person.
We deliver around 500 counselling sessions per month to a broad range of individuals, many of whom would not otherwise be able to access therapeutic support. Evolve also provides supervision, reflective practice, critical incident support, and mental health awareness and related training to organisations and businesses large and small.
We are in the early stages of developing ambitious growth and innovation programmes, so this is a perhaps the most interesting time to be part of Evolve since we started in the 1970s. Opportunities for new Trustees to make their mark are considerable.
What We’re Looking For:
We are searching for an experienced HR specialist who can support our board, committees, and the CEO as we move through our next strategic stage of consolidation, then growth. Although long-established and successful, Evolve is reshaping itself and your HR expertise will be instrumental in positioning our charity to successfully meet the ever-growing demands and opportunities for supporting good mental health in our communities. Please note, a background in counselling is NOT a prerequisite for this role. Training will be available in general charity governance and in specific areas such as charity finance.
Your skills and knowledge, whether gained in the charity or commercial worlds, in a corporate HR Department, or a specialist consultancy, will help us to plan and “do the right thing” for our small staff and our self-employed counsellors, as we grow.

In late 2023, the Cathedral adopted a new governance structure under the Cathedrals Measure 2021 and became a registered charity with the Charity Commission in March 2024.The new Chapter must consist of between nine and twelve members and is led by the Dean as Chair. The other members are: four residentiary canons (two executive and two non-executive); the senior non-executive member (SNEM), and five other non-executive members, including the Chair of Finance and two elected at the annual meeting of those on the Cathedral’s electoral roll.

Unfold is an organisation running mentoring programmes for young people aged 10-25yrs old. Our mentoring supports people to identify and achieve their goals, boost confidence and connect with the wider community to meet their needs for lasting change. Mentoring runs for 1-2 hrs a week, across 12-24 sessions, where sessions can take place in person, online or over the phone.
This year in collaboration with Westminster & Kensington and Chelsea council, Unfold will be co-designing and delivering a mentoring programme for young people who has experience in care. To better meet the needs of the young people who has experience in care, we’re looking for people with and without lived experience to support in co-designing the programme.
Co-design opportunity:
We’re looking for mentors aged 18+, most of whom have lived experience of the care system, to support us in reviewing our training, resources and become mentors on the programme. For individuals who may not have lived experience of being in care, we are particularly interested if you have a background in or currently studying psychology, social work or therapy/counselling.
You’ll help revise our Mentor Training so that we can tailor it for the specific requirements of a programme for people with experience in care. To do this, you’ll complete our existing Training package and participate in 2 workshops running in October.
1) You’ll complete our online Ascend training (3 hours)
2) Complete our live training (5 hours)
3) Attend 2 workshops, each around 2 hours, to give your feedback on our online and live training modules. The workshops will be held online or in our beautiful office space in Victoria, London.

- Wednesday 2nd October 5.30-7.30pm – Ascend workshop
- Saturday 5th October 10am-4.30pm – Live training & workshop
You’ll also complete our full onboarding processes for volunteers including an interview, references and enhanced DBS check.
Mentoring:
From October 2024, you will be matched with young person between aged 10-25yrs, and hold weekly Mentoring sessions for 1 hour a week. Ideally we are looking for mentors who can meet in person in Westminster, Kensington or Chelsea, but there is the possibility of holding some sessions online or over the phone.
Throughout the mentoring journey, you will attend our online monthly Mentor Supervisions to share your experiences, learnings and connect with other mentors and services – you’ll become part of an incredible community and continuously learn!

Role of a Home-Start Trustee
Home-Start is a voluntary organisation in which volunteers offer regular support, befriending and practical help to families with young children who are under stress in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis or breakdown. Trustees collectively oversee the work of the organisation and are legally responsible for all aspects of its operations.
Within the Board, individual Trustees have specific roles that enable them to use their individual skills and experience to lead in particular activities. Each role has specific responsibilities that a Trustee will lead on to enable the Board as a whole to operate more effectively.
Home-Start Barnet (HSB) Trustees give a high level of commitment and reliability in their roles and work very closely with the staff team to enable HSB to deliver a high quality and well-respected service. Trustees are empowered to make well informed decisions through training and reporting systems.
What do Home-Start Trustees do?
Trustees work collectively, to hold HSB in trust for current and future beneficiaries by:
- Attending quarterly Board meetings and any additional sub-committee meetings to keep informed and plan an active role in decision making for Home-Start Barnet
- Providing leadership and direction for the charity within the ethos and values of HSB
- Ensuring that the charity has a clear mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these
- Ensuring that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard
- Being responsible for the effective performance and management of the charity
- Ensuring that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements, the objects of the charity, the governing documents and quality standards
- Undertaking an ambassadorial role for Home-Start
- Attending ongoing support and training sessions as necessary to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the role
What are the responsibilities of a Home-Start Trustee?
Home-Start asks all Trustees to commit to the Home-Start ethos and to understand and implement relevant Home-Start’s policies which will be explained at the Trustee induction.
Trustees work collectively to:
- Set the strategy and undertake the strategic management of the charity
- Ensure that the charity pursues its objects as defined in the governing documents
- Ensure the charity accounts for its activities to its funders, the relevant Charity Regulators, its members, the local community and others
- Ensure that the charity applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects
- Ensure the financial stability of the charity
- Ensure proper accounting records are kept
- Ensure the proper investment of the charity’s funds
- Ensure that the major risks to which the charity is exposed are reviewed annually and managed
- Ensure the organisation has appropriate risk assessment procedures in place and appropriately mitigates against perceived risks
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the charity
- Approve the charity’s policies
- Ensure the charity fulfils its responsibilities as a good employer and is an effective manager and supervisor of staff and volunteers
- Ensure the charity is appropriately insured
- Protect and manage the property of the charity
- Monitor and evaluate the work of the charity and to contribute to quality assurance self-assessments and reviews
- Safeguard the good name and ethos of Home-Start Barnet
What Duties are involved in being a Trustee?
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Scrutinising board papers in advance of meetings
- Approving the strategic plan annually and monitoring progress against it
- Determining and approving the annual budget and monitoring progress against it
- Preparing and approving the annual report and accounts
- Ensuring compliance with the Home-Start Agreement and Quality Assurance system
- Acting within the spirit and in accordance with Home-Start’s equality of opportunity and diversity policies and procedures
- Signing acceptance and understanding of the Home-Start Safeguarding/Child Protection Code of Conduct annually
Individually to:
- Regularly attend Board meetings
- Play an active part in the trustees’ meetings and deliberations
- Exercising due care and attention and using reasonable skill in dealing with the charity’s affairs
- Use own skills, knowledge and experience to help the trustees reach sound decisions
- Avoid any conflict of interests and declare areas where they may arise
- Reflect annually on the board’s performance and your own performance as a trustee
- Take part in Quality Assurance self-assessments and reviews
- Ensure that major decisions and policies are made by trustees acting collectively
- Work within the organisations policies and procedures
What is the time commitment?
- Attendance of quarterly Board meetings held at HSB offices
- Attendance at the Annual General Meeting
- Attendance of any sub-committee meetings for any additional work taken on
- Attendance of training when required
- Work at home to deliver the requirements of the role (estimate 3 hours a month)

BUBIC (Bringing Unity Back Into the Community) continues to grow and evolve, we are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees.
Role overview: As a Trustee, you will be jointly responsible with other Board members for directing BUBIC’s affairs. You will ensure that the organisation is solvent, well-run, and delivering the outcomes for which it has been set up. You will safeguard and promote the values and mission of BUBIC, determine its strategy and structure, and ensure that it operates effectively, responsibly, and accountably. - Attend at least monthly Board and other meetings.
