Given that LAFF is a small volunteer-led charity, the Internal Projects Coordinator provides support to the Programme Manager in all aspects of LAFF’s internal operations programme planning, reporting, budgeting and delivery. This is a diverse role that encompasses all facets of NGO management. 

Objectives of this Role

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Projects Coordinator will be expected to carry out the following tasks: 

• Collaborate with the Programme Manager to ensure that LAFF’s strategic and annual work plan are being implemented 

• Provide administrative and logistical support 

• Maintain and update LAFF’s recruitment platforms and database

• Organise, schedule and take part in meetings, interviews and events when necessary

• Draft documents, contracts, agreements and reports

• Ensure that all data and policies are consistent, thorough and accessible

• Identify partners/beneficiaries needs and provide technical support when relevant

• Provide support in the monitoring of LAFF’s internal programmes

• Represent LAFF when necessary and expand its local network in Cusco

• Visit projects to follow up progress on capacity building projects

• Contribute towards the internal development of LAFF

• Provide support carrying out tasks of other volunteer roles when they are not filled

Skills and Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a related field (Communications, Languages, International Relations) or experience working in a communications role. 

• 6 months of volunteering experience and/or work experience in the NGO sector highly desirable. 

• Proficiency in written and spoken English required, intermediate level Spanish desired. 

• A strong passion to develop skills related to the not-profit sector. 

• Solid report-writing skills. 

• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. 

• Interest in acquiring communications and International Development experience. 

• Highly organized, flexible, independent, culturally sensitive and detail oriented with the ability to multitask. 

• Extensive knowledge of MS Office.

The Projects Coordinator position requires a proactive attitude and attention to detail to ensure LAFF functions smoothly and reaches its full potential. We are seeking to recruit a new Treasurer on the Board of Trustees for S.A.L.V.E. International with a minimum commitment of 8-12 hours per month (which can be evening and weekends) based in the UK.

S.A.L.V.E. International is a small International Development charity registered in the UK and Uganda. Our ethos is “Support And Love Via Education”. We support children living and working on the streets of Uganda to have a brighter future.

With the generous help of our supporters, S.A.L.V.E. works with children on the streets of Jinja, Uganda, so they have the opportunity to leave their difficult pasts behind them and move forward, towards a brighter future.

We have Drop in Centres and Street Outreach services for children currently living on the streets. We offer short-term residential care in our Halfway Homes or Drug Rehabilitation Centre to help a child to transition off the streets, and follow up care and support for when a child has been resettled home to their family. We also offer educational support, or business skills training where assessed to be needed to help a child to settle home successfully. 

What does the Board Treasurer role involve?

You will join our Board of Trustees in the UK and work alongside our CEO, Chair, staff teams and Ugandan board, to help S.A.L.V.E. International to thrive and increase our impact.

The term of office for our board is four years (which is renewable) – however it is possible for someone to step down, resign or take a sabbatical within this time period, should your circumstances change.

Practically the role will involve:

● 8 to 12 hours a month.

● Attending 4 board meetings per year (these are on a weekend in the daytime. The dates are set at the start of each year and they will normally consist of three virtual half day meetings and one face to face whole day meeting per year).

● Our board has 3 committees that meet virtually once per quarter between board meetings. These are Finance, HR and Governance and Fundraising and Communications. As treasurer you would chair the Finance committee, with the option to join any other committee alongside this if you wish and are able to.

● Responding to emails (where relevant), liaising with the CEO, Chair and other board members as needed, and championing any areas of S.A.L.V.E.’s work in which your knowledge, skills, experience and time available allow.

We also believe that it is highly beneficial for board members to visit the programme in Uganda at least once every four years to understand the work in greater depth, share their skills and to meet with team members and service users. Assistance towards your flight costs may be available, based on an application from the trustee.

Treasurer specific responsibilities:

As treasurer of the board you would also be responsible for:

• Ensuring the charity maintains proper accounts by overseeing and providing guidance to the staff members who do the day to day bookkeeping work.

• Reviewing the charity’s financial performance.

• Reviewing and presenting financial reports to the board in a clear format to help the board understand the charity’s financial position.

• Advising the board on how best to carry out its financial responsibilities.

• Liaising with professional advisors, S.A.L.V.E. staff and with the charity’s independent examiner/ auditors as needed.

• Overseeing the internal audit of our annual accounts.

• Reviewing policies for finance, security of assets and investment.

• Ensuring that the charity has robust and effective financial controls in place.

Essential skills for the treasurer:

• Have experience in finance/accounting. You might hold one of the following financial qualifications: ACA - Chartered Accountant, ACCA /CACA - Certified Accountant, CIMA - Chartered Management Accountant, or CIPFA.

• Have proven experience in communicating well with different stakeholders.

• Have the ability to review and develop strategies, policies, procedures and systems to ensure that S.A.L.V.E. is following good practice in line with the UK Charity Commission.

• Be solution focused and creative in their ability to approach problems.

Other desirable (but not essential) skills:

• Have experience of successfully working internationally and/ or with people from different cultural backgrounds.

• Have experience of using XERO software.

• Have previous experience within the charity sector and be able to evidence their enthusiasm and dedication.

Our partner works on the front line with families in need, with a vision of a world where children everywhere have access to the support they need to survive and thrive, achieved through research, campaigning and humanitarian responses.

They are seeking a Treasurer with experience of working with not for profits in setting strategic financial direction. You would be joining the board at an exciting time, as they implement their new strategy, build on their campaigns and broaden their advocacy to mobilise greater support and achieve change.

In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, the responsibility of the Treasurer is to maintain an overview of the organisation's affairs, ensuring its financial viability and that the organisation has policies and systems in place to ensure robust financial planning, implementation and reporting.

This is a substantial and responsible role, and would suit someone able to commit about 18-20 hours three times a year. Board and committee meetings are held three times a year (on Zoom), and there may be ad hoc meetings between these as well as an expectation that support and guidance will be provided to the CEO and other staff on an ongoing basis.

Our partner is a women’s organisation, delivering systems change and trauma and gender-informed community-based support for women and girls affected by domestic abuse, including those in contact with the criminal justice system.

The Treasurer will oversee the financial matters of the charity in line with good practice and legal requirements, and report to the Board of Trustees at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation. They will ensure that effective financial management systems, controls and procedures are in place, and are appropriate for the charity’s needs.

The successful candidate will have experience of operating within a board in a charitable, public sector or commercial organisation, as well as a commitment to feminist principles and a passion for ending violence against women.

The board meets 5 times per year, and the finance sub-committee has an additional 4 meetings annually.

UK-based peacebuilding charity seeks interns to become actively involved in programmes, providing meaningful assistance to the organisation as it carries out its mission.

Concordis International is a UK registered charity which runs peacebuilding programmes in Central African Republic, Sudan and South Sudan.

Overview: Programme interns work directly with the Concordis programme teams on all aspects of designing, implementing and evaluating peacebuilding programmes. ROLE DESCRIPTION 

Your internship role within Concordis will be shaped by what is happening on Concordis programmes during the six months you spend with the organisation and by your interests, experience and abilities.  As a team, we rely on each member to contribute their skills to our work and we will look to make the most of what you have to offer, while at the same time giving you opportunities to develop new skills and to challenge yourself. 

You may be asked to carry out research and analysis into countries in which we are active, guided by our research managers and following our research methodology.  Your role may include assisting with the development of project proposals, monitoring international news outlets and researching potential new project areas.  You may be asked to help with monitoring and evaluating our programmes, working with the programme managers and programme officers to understand and capture results from our programme activities. 

You may also be required to give practical, logistical and administrative support to the programme team to which you are allocated, including helping to set up data collection systems, analysing the data collected, preparing and sharing reports, liaising with project partners, preparing for dialogue or training sessions, translating peacebuilding material and taking notes at internal and external meetings.

You will attend team meetings and programme update meetings where you will hear from the Director of Programmes and other members of the programme teams, giving you the chance to understand what is happening on the programmes and to ask questions about any aspect of peacebuilding.

You will be asked to research sources of funding and may be involved in drafting applications for funding, including generating ideas for new programmes that meet the needs of communities and donors.

You may be required to attend external meetings, seminars and conferences and to contribute to website and social media content.  You will be given opportunities and time to attend virtual training on peacebuilding and related topics. 

The internships are designed to give you concrete experience in research, programme management and funding within the international development sector.

LAFF sees fundraising as a way to create long term relationships with donors; as the fundraising coordinator, you will play a vital part in this, working with the communications team to consider the full donor-cycle, from first approach to long term updates about LAFF’s work and our beneficiaries.

You will focus on increasing funds from Trusts and Foundations, companies, schools and universities in order to financially support LAFF’s programs. The fundraising strategy consists of identifying fundraising opportunities; applying to grants, writing proposals to trusts, foundations and businesses; and engaging with different audiences e.g. schools and universities.

Your independent research skills and innovation will find new opportunities to build LAFF’s corporate partner network and your understanding of LAFF’s individual donor audience will develop our strategy for increasing regular monthly donors. Your success in this position  will rely on your understanding of the socio-economic problems in Peru that affect LAFF’s beneficiaries and your ability to effectively communicate the importance of LAFF’s work and progress.

Objectives of this Role

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Fundraising Coordinator will be expected to carry out the following tasks: 

• Plan, develop and carry out LAFF’s fundraising activities including grant writing

• Research potential funding opportunities and draft proposals with the participation of other LAFF team members depending on the program area

• Work with the communications team to ensure that all current donors are recognized for their support and well-informed of progress on the ground through timely and relevant reports/updates

• Support the Events and Campaigns Coordinator to launch campaigns encouraging fundraising activities for LAFF’s supporters

• Maintain and update LAFF’s fundraising strategy

• Ensure that fundraising practices reflect the priorities, mission and vision of LAFF

• Network and forge links with relevant stakeholders and organizations (including current and potential donors, companies, trusts, foundations, universities, schools and other supporters) to ensure continued support for existing and new initiatives and the engagement of our supporters in all fundraising activities

Skills and Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a related field (Communications, Languages, International Relations) or currently enrolled

We are looking for a dynamic leader to help steer Peace Direct in the years ahead. We are looking for someone who cares deeply about the importance of supporting local civil society, who has strong experience of charity governance, and is accustomed to working collaboratively with the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team, and across cultural contexts to build a strong organisation. This is no ordinary Board Chair role. Peace Direct has been at the forefront of thinking about how the international NGO sector needs to transform itself, including how to tackle structural racism. We are looking for a Board Chairperson who will embrace the challenge of leading a Board that will model the changes we hope to see in the wider sector. Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator

LAFF is looking for an experienced candidate to fill a voluntary role in Monitoring and Evaluation. Qualified candidates  will have the opportunity to work directly with beneficiaries, gain valuable field experience and contribute to LAFF’s productivity, development and reach. Based in beautiful Peru, on the doorstep of Machu Picchu, the role also offers an opportunity to increase your cultural exposure and improve your Spanish capabilities.

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is an essential part of LAFF’s work: it allows us to identify areas of success and areas which need improvement, as well as to make sure that all of LAFF’s activities work to support our long term goals and mission. Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the M&E Coordinator will develop LAFF’s M&E Strategy, aiming to monitor and evaluate the progress, effectiveness and impact of our programs and interventions through a participatory and culturally sensitive approach.

You will lead all M&E activities for LAFF, measure indicators, work closely with our local partners and beneficiaries in Peru, and produce internal and external reports. You will have independence to propose frameworks for data collection, summarising and storing, as well as compiling reports to present data and draw conclusions.

The M&E Coordinator will have a logical approach to collecting data, recognising the specific context in which we work and how that affects both quantitative and qualitative data. Awareness of LAFF’s context will also be essential for assessing risks and assumptions when developing project logframes.

Objectives of this Role

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the M&E Coordinator will be expected to carry out the following tasks: 

• Design strategies for strengthening data collection, interpretation and reporting. 

• Design and develop appropriate framework and attendant systems for effective monitoring and evaluation of programmes

• Coordinate all M&E activities for the organisation

• Carry out evaluations, impact assessments, and prepare case studies on intervention. 

• Lead development of result chains for each intervention before implementation and ensure that a measurement plan is in place. 

• Assess the existing M&E system, indicators and tools used by our partners, as well as the possibility of changing, improving and/or unifying these systems. 

• Review reporting from our partners and LAFF and provide technical support on the design of research projects

• Manage, organise, and facilitate surveys when necessary

• Provide training and build M&E capacity of our staff, volunteers, and partners

• Perform regular internal performance evaluations

• Collaborate with the Program Manager to ensure that the LAFF strategic plan is updated and relevant at all times

Skills and Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in a related field (M&E, Sociology, Data science) or experience working in M&E

• Knowledge and/or experience in strategic planning and performance measurement, indicator selection, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methodologies, impact evaluation and research methodologies

• Knowledge of results-based M&E, logic models, and log frameworks

• Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish and English required

• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills

• Highly organised, flexible, independent, culturally sensitive, and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask. 

• Strong Google workspace skills

• Intermediate Excel/Google sheets

• Minimum of 1 year’s experience in an M&E role

Personal Qualities

LAFF is looking for an individual who is both insightful and analytic, with the ability to identify underlying connections in data. Furthermore, the right candidate will be able to communicate their findings of patterns and indicators in a way that is accessible to a non-expert audience, so that they can interpret results easily. Organisation and time management skills are crucial, as M&E will form a part of project development, however there will often be multiple team members involved in the overall project.

Volunteer Role

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to join our team at the IHF Thailand Center in Chiang Rai. Volunteers will gain invaluable experience in international team leadership, coordination of center activities, and engagement with the local community.

Responsibilities

• Participate in rotational assignments in the core components of the International Humanity Foundation, including:

  • Center operations

  • Legalities

  • Community development

  • Finance

  • Fundraising

  • Media and communications

  • And more

• Assist in coordinating center activities

• Report to the CEO and Center Directors

What We Offer

• Global Leadership Development (GLD): A one-year training program equipping you with skills to run an international organization as a director.

• Stipend:

  • $35/month for the first 3 months

  • $65/month for months 4-6

  • $85/month for months 7-9

  • $100/month for months 10-12

• Potential Employment: After one year of successfully completing the GLD training, volunteers may be considered for employment positions within the organization, if available.

• Valid police clearance/good conduct certificate issued by the government

Level the Playing Field in Development

We work at the intersection between human rights, decolonisation and anti-racism in international development.

Systematic and ongoing neocolonialism, racism within the development sector.

Admin Volunteer

• Role Description: Updating the resources database and other databases. Supporting with the monitoring and updates on the website. Supporting with social media Note taking during online events. Newsletter development and distribution.
• Volunteer 2-3 hours per week for 1-2 weeks remotely.

We are seeking enthusiastic, innovative volunteer teachers who are passionate about education, youth development and equity to join our 24-25 cohort. Food and housing expenses are covered. We currently serve nearly 500 students across two schools in northern Honduras. You will be joining a network of hundreds of alumni who have supported this important work for nearly 20 years. Our signature teaching program includes  ear-long teacher training and year-long professional development opportunities that highlights the important current and historical context in which we are teaching and learning from our students and the communities in which we live. At a high level, each volunteer teacher is responsible for: leading an English curriculum for students in grades PreK-9 in ELA, Science, Math, Art, PE and Computers (all classes are capped at 25 students, and most teachers take on one full curriculum for a grade level) supporting fellow teachers in the classroom, getting to know your students and their families, and immersing oneself in Honduran culture. Don’t worry - we’ll be there to support you with every step along the way! 

REQUIRED DUTIES:

• Facilitate relationships with students’ parents and other community members 

• Plan lessons and teach in English (all subjects with the exception of Social Studies and Spanish)

• Foster a safe and productive classroom environment for students 

• Serve as a Lunch/Recess monitor

• Collaborate with the teaching team (Honduran and International) on school projects, events, planning, and curriculum development

• Contribute to the collaborative and respectful group living experience

• Serve as an ambassador for BECA by helping to spread the word about our work to your families and friends 

• Participate in professional development events, such as local education-based conferences, and BECA-lead efforts
