A bit about this role:

Every penny counts when it comes to improving the lives of the thousands of cats and kittens across the UK that need our help each year. Our collection box fundraising volunteers help our volunteer groups raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

What can you expect to be doing?

● Overseeing the collection and delivery of collection boxes in different locations

● Recording donations and thanking local businesses and supporters

● Researching local areas for collection box ‘hot spots’

● Sharing fundraising ideas with other volunteers and putting these into practice 

● Sharing your passion for cat welfare and promoting the work of Cats Protection

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our Fundraising Event Helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

We need a dedicated Garden Leader volunteer who can play a key role in helping to run our regular Volunteer Saturday Group. You will deliver enjoyable activities for local residents including planting, sowing seeds, weeding, pruning and other seasonal activities. This role involves working with members of the community to help grow a usable and edible garden and to create a community feel. This role is critical in bringing people together in the community to reduce isolation and to create awareness around the benefits of being in nature.
There are currently four regular groups which run in the garden and you will be part of a wider team where we share ideas and plans for the seasons ahead. You will have the skills and knowledge to develop and expand the community garden over time as we build more raised beds and develop the park. Hillfields Community Garden is a much-needed resource in the area, this will be a rewarding role for the right person.

Our Saturday Volunteers group runs monthly and includes a free, hot cooked meal, prepared and served in the Community Garden which is in an open park. 

About us
Hillfields Community Garden (HCG) is a small, local charity set up to bring the people of Hillfields together through community groups and activities. We are quite unique in that we operate from a public park and are open 24/7. Green spaces have a crucial role to play in supporting community health and wellbeing and they have huge potential to respond to the climate and ecological emergencies in our cities. Underpinned by the five ways to well-being and nature connections, our regular groups and events bring the community together and provide significant learning opportunities as well as enhancing the biodiversity of this ward. 
 2024 is shaping up to be an exciting year with a new climate action project and nature learning workshops. We need the enthusiasm and dedicated skills from a Volunteer Garden Leader to keep the garden thriving. Main Tasks & Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver garden activities at the Saturday Volunteer Days, second Saturday of the month
• Develop, manage and deliver a successful growing plan 
• Register and welcome volunteers, adhering to our GDPR guidelines
• Support Volunteers by providing advice and making the session enjoyable
• Talk about and demonstrate organic gardening methods and horticulture practices
• Supervise Volunteers by making sure they complete activities correctly and safely
• Assist Volunteers who have support needs with gardening tasks 
• Adhere to and ensure volunteers follow safe practices and guidelines set by HCG and Bristol City Council Parks Department 
• Carry out relevant risk assessments and visual and written safety checks and feedback and concerns
• Work with the Community Garden Cook to identify produce that could be harvested for the shared meal
• Encourage volunteers to take home excess produce and encourage home growing by sharing seeds and seedlings where possible

Purpose of the Role:

To support patients transitioning from hospital to home, ensuring their discharge is safe, smooth, and successful. By providing practical assistance and emotional support, you will play a key role in helping individuals regain independence, prevent readmission, and access community resources.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with transport, helping patients travel safely from the hospital to their homes.

• Shopping for groceries or other essentials.

• Carrying out simple home safety checks to ensure the environment is suitable for recovery.

• Offer emotional support and reassurance during the transition period.

• Support patients for a minimum of 4 weeks (maximum 6 weeks) post-discharge, either in person (at their home or in the community) or over the phone.

• Help patients connect with local services, activities, and support networks to aid recovery and prevent isolation.

• Encourage and support individuals to re-engage with their community, reducing the likelihood of hospital readmission.

• Guidance and training will be provided on using the Care For Me platform to assign patients, obtain details of patient support, record visits, and monitor attendance.

Skills and Qualities Needed:

Get Out There groups are a growing division of Sense that cater for children between 6 and 16 with complex needs. We provide a 4 hour social setting which caters for children and families who need respite. We offer activities such as games, puzzles, arts and crafts, experiments, cookery and sensory play. We aim to tailor sessions to the needs, interests and abilities of the children we support and put pupil voice at the center of all we do. 

As a volunteer you'll make sure that everyone has a great time and can make the most of the activities on offer. You'll need lots of energy, a warm and welcoming personality and to be happy getting stuck in to a wide range of tasks and activities, all of which make sure that everyone has the best day they can together. 

What your role will involve

• Taking part in activities alongside disabled young people. You could be joining creative activities, movement or sports session, trips out in to the local community or seasonal themed activities.
• Helping to set up the activities at the start of the day, clear away at the end and keep activities safe, clean and running smoothly throughout.
• Helping to welcome young people to the group, find their way around and between activities, enjoy breaks and lunchtime and generally have a great day with the team and Sense.

A basic / enhanced Disclosure & Barring check will be required for this volunteer role.

About the role

The Honorary Treasurer plays a key role on the board of trustees, ensuring sound financial management and oversight of the charity’s resources in line with its mission, vision, and legal requirements.

The Treasurer works closely with the Chair, CEO, Director of Finance and Administration and the board to maintain financial stability and sustainability while supporting strategic decision-making.

As the charity undergoes a period of modernisation following an independent governance review, the Honorary Treasurer will be instrumental in leading the financial aspects of this transformation, ensuring robust financial controls, transparency, and the alignment of resources with the charity’s strategic goals

Windsor Horse Rangers, based in Fifield, Berkshire is looking for a new Chair to lead our Board of Trustees. Our charity aims to empower young people through horsemanship.  The trustees, staff and volunteers are focused on providing a sustainable, inclusive and educative environment for 8–18 year olds to develop skills to ride and care for horses. 

We have 180 Horse Rangers attending weekly to learn horsemanship working with our 25 horses. We offer equine education in a safe and supportive environment that engages and empowers and which develops wider life skills, emotional resilience and positive wellbeing. Many  of our rangers have gone on to careers in equestrianism.

Our committed team of trustees are looking for a volunteer chair to lead and support the team, help with decision-making to deliver our mission, challenge us and bring fresh thinking to the role.

We are looking for a supportive leader who can bring experience from either another charitable environment or the commercial world.  Your responsibilities will include, providing leadership and ideas for the organisation and giving strategic direction to ensure a sustainable future.  You will represent and act as a spokesperson for the charity and chair and facilitate meetings of the trustees.  This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to apply their own skills and experience to enhance the life skills of young people and support a charitable institution.  A love and knowledge of horses is a bonus but not a pre-requisite.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard and promote the Charity’s mission
• Act as the senior representative and spokesperson for Windsor Horse Rangers
• Ensure annual and longer-term strategic plans are developed, monitored and executed.
• Ensure Board operates to a high standard of governance and financial probity
• Ensure the Trustees have relevant skills and backgrounds

Skills and Experience

• Desire to empower young people to improve their skills, independence and self esteem
• Leadership skills to facilitate collaboration with trustees, staff and volunteers
• Strategic and financial management skills.
• Governance at Board level with voluntary/non-profit organisations
• Working understanding (or a willingness to learn) of UK charity law and legislation
• Networking within equine community or charity sector desirable
