Role Title: Graphic Designer
Role Purpose
Quilombo UK is looking for a Graphic Designer to join the team. Quilombo UK is a not for profit social enterprise that challenges people to think differently and bridge gaps between communities, with the aim of building a culturally rich society, where differences are accepted and celebrated. As chosen among 160 other organizations to work in collaboration with the Home Office on the “Building a Stronger Britain together” project, you will be joining a team, which not only supports the community but also stands up to extremism in all of its forms.
Quilombo UK works in collaboration with QMC Capoeira School, giving you the chance to support QMC Capoeira which is one of the most awarded Capoeira Schools in UK (UK Coaching Awards, Gillette Sports Awards, Kingston Council Sports Awards).
By joining QuilomboUK you will be supported and guided by experienced staff and volunteers, who are willing to share their skill set and will provide you with great opportunities for development in many different areas.
Ideal candidates will use their passion to promote Quilombo UK and raise its profile, while attracting new members. They should create engaging and on-brand graphics for a variety of media.

Wild We Stand is a fully volunteer-led collective and this is a volunteer opportunity. We are a flat collective where everyone belongs, a co-creation space where we get excited about your work, support your ideas, and want you to thrive with genuine freedom. We highly value our team’s time and expertise, and provide learning opportunities, perks, and a community for us all. While this is currently a volunteer role, as a registered Community Interest Company (CIC), our shared goal is to build a sustainable pathway to paid roles as the collective grows.
Time Commitment: We’re looking for long-term collective members and partners. We’re flexible on time commitment but it would be ideal if you were excited and available to dedicate 5+ hours per week to Wild We Stand.
Location Policy: Fully Globally Remote. Must be available for 1-2 hours of meetings weekly within core UK hours to collaborate with the team.
What is the role?
As our Visual & Creative Lead you will own the aesthetic identity and graphic output of Wild We Stand, working closely with our editorial and community leads to shape the visual language of our movement.
You will help us to define a creative strategy for the collective, and produce all our visual assets, including events & announcement posters, carousels, print media and more.
This is a volunteer position. Your work in our purpose-driven collective will have a direct role in shaping the visual language of a justice-centred environmental movement.
What will you be responsible for?
Design and format print/digital zine layouts, publications, and editorial assets
Establish and maintain the visual identity, typography, and graphic aesthetic across all collective materials.
Produce print-ready artwork and specifications for stickers, flyers, posters, and physical merchandise.
Export clean graphics and visual assets for digital channels, campaign launches, and event promotions.
Commitment to a decolonised imagination that connects conservation to the intersections of wildlife and oppression.
An unwavering drive to confront the consequences of capitalism and systems of power with the urgency required for genuine change and justice.
What are we looking for?
Proficiency in graphic design tools (such as InDesign, Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Figma).
Experience in editorial layout, print preparation, or zine design.
A strong visual portfolio showcasing experimental, radical, or narrative-driven creative work.
Ability to take raw copy and transform it into compelling, accessible visual layouts independently.
Alignment with radical ecology and a desire to use art as a tool for movement-building.
A collaborative, non-hierarchical mindset that thrives in a flat collective structure.
It would also be great if you had:
Experience working with eco-friendly print processes or local print shops.
Illustration, collage, or physical media artwork skills.

Role Summary.
As a Graphic Designer, you will be instrumental in shaping the visual identity of Roots Academy UK. From designing educational resources and social media assets to crafting digital campaigns and event materials, your work will ensure our content reflects excellence, clarity, and spiritual depth. You will help bring Islamic learning to life through purposeful, polished, and impactful design.
Key tasks
Design Development: Create visually compelling graphics for use across social media, email, web, presentations, and print.
Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual materials align with Roots Academy’s brand guidelines and Islamic values.
Content Support: Collaborate with the social media and education teams to translate ideas and scripts into polished, engaging visuals.
Template Creation: Build easy-to-edit templates for internal teams to use (e.g., Canva or Google Slides).
Trend Awareness: Stay up to date on design and content trends, especially within the faith-based and youth development space.
Project Management: Maintain organised design files and deliver work in a timely manner.
What we’re looking for
Strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity, clarity, and alignment with brand guidelines.
Experience using tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Figma.
Attention to detail and a strong sense of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.
Ability to take direction while contributing creative input.
A deep understanding of Islamic values and visual modesty in design.
Experience designing for social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok).
Excellent communication and time-management skills.
