As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

The role in a nutshell:
This is a desk-based role (from our London office, and occasionally from home) offering support with data entry to the External Affairs team, working to influence on the big issues affecting older people and achieving real change.
What will you be doing?
We have a significant amount of paper/postcard sign ups to our Offline and Overlooked digital petition and a growing number for our Save the Winter Fuel Payment petition. You will help the External affairs team processing and adding these to our online petition log. Where we have an email and permission you will also help us adding them to Age UK's campaigns mailing list.
We estimate we have at least 70 hours of work to be done now over the first month. More can be discussed dependent on speed, hours and number of petitions left.
We are flexible about hours worked per day and per week but would expect the initial work to be carried out over no more than a month.
How would you be supported in this role?
You will be supported by a team member who will be your main contact to discuss anything relevant to your role, tasks and objectives. We will offer you appropriate training to enable you to fulfil the role effectively and will reimburse agreed volunteer expenses (terms and conditions apply).
Why do we need volunteers in this role?
The External Affairs team is responsible for communicating the charity’s priorities with parliamentarians, as well as engaging with and mobilising a community of hundreds of thousands of campaigners to raise older people’s concerns. It’s a busy time for the team, with several projects underway. We need a volunteer to help us ensure we are recording all the support our public petitions are receiving.

In this role you will gain knowledge of campaigning methods and experience handling personal data.
What skills, interests or experience might be helpful in this role?
Attention to detail and organisational and IT skills (comfortable using Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams or similar) are essential.
Having an interest in political change, campaigning for social justice, health and social care is preferred but not required. This role is open to individuals looking to gain experience in the field.

Why am I needed?

Our aim is simple – to deliver a vision where fewer people get cancer and those that do receive equal access to excellent treatment. However, we can’t do this without your help. Our shops in local communities are crucial to us raising vital funds. So, we’d like you to volunteer your time and commitment to help us make a difference. We need you to help create exciting collections to display and sell in our windows and in our shops to help turn unsaleable donated clothes into cash.
What will I be doing?
Creating a product/collection of products from upcycling donated stock items which are not saleable in their current condition
Promoting awareness of the charity and the services that we provide.

How much time do I need to commit?
We appreciate any time you’d like to give, any up-cycling can be completed at home but you will build a relationship with your local Tenovus Cancer Care shop where you will collect materials and your up-cycled items will be sold.
What support will I be given?
Before starting with Tenovus Cancer Care, we ask that you visit the Shop Management team in the shop so we can both see how the role may suit you.
Following that the Shop Manager and team will be on hand to advise and help you select products you can use.

After successfuly completing our aplciation, vetting and training process ARCh Reading Helpers visit a local primary school (close to home or workplace) twice a week during the school day (usually early afternoons), spending a 1:1 "happy half hour" each time with three children selected by the school. These children may be struggling with reading, lack language skills or have little confidence. The volunteer talks with the child, shares books and plays games supplied by ARCh. In this way a mentoring relationship is developed over the course of a year.
Volunteers provide a warm, positive experience of reading and with encouragement over a sustained period, reluctant readers gain confidence in their ability and begin to read for pleasure. This one to one support has a positive effect on all areas of the child''s schoolwork and improves their life prospects.
We need volunteers who can be relied upon to attend their sessions regularly and volunteer with ARCh for a minimum of one school year.
This role would appeal to anyone who enjoys being with children, loves books and wants to make a difference in their local community.

About Together Now:
At Together Now, we believe every family deserves to live together. Our mission is to reunite refugee families who have been separated due to conflict, persecution, or other hardships. Purpose of the Role:
As Bookkeeping Volunteer you'll play a key role in helping the charity to keep accurate financial records, including reporting to grant funders. Working closely with the Director, your contributions will directly support the charity’s vital work.
Main Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping records:

You'll use quickbooks to keep bookkeeping records, ensuring transactions are categorised correctly and allocated to the correct funder (weekly)

You'll report any missing receipts to make sure we have the information needed to report to funders and keep accurate records.

You'll create payroll journals on quickbooks using information from our payroll provider. You'll reconcile the payroll accounts (monthly) to ensure the correct amount is paid to HMRC, pension provider etc.

You'll reconcile bank accounts to statements and report any problems (monthly)
Grant funding:

You'll use classes on quickbooks to keep track of different grants and make sure we are following the funders spending requirements.

You'll liaise with the director to make sure that spending is allocated to the correct funder

You'll report on grant funds to the director and casework manager (weekly), including how much is available to spend on casework for clients.

You'll support the bid writer and director with financial information for funding bids

Available volunteer opportunities include;
Regular visits to a person or couple navigating cancer to offer company and a friendly, listening ear at a difficult time.
Providing transport to a person or couple navigating cancer from their home to healthcare appointments including but not limited to Chemotherapy / Radiology sessions and GP appointments.
Light gardening support.
Subject to the volunteers wishes, some volunteer placements can include support with light housework, shopping support, accompanying a client on a walk or short external trips, and enjoying shared hobbies that bring both the client and volunteer a great sense of wellbeing.
PLEASE NOTE: All volunteer roles listed above involve visiting a client at their home in some capacity. We currently do not have any volunteer roles that involve working from your home / online.

Marie Curie Companion is a professional service provided by trained volunteers who offer one-to-one companionship and support to people with a terminal illness and their families. The service would not be able to reach those most in need if it was not for the commitment and hard work of the volunteers delivering the service.
Companion Volunteers provide companionship and emotional support, practical support, short breaks for carers and help with signposting for information and support. Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:

Carry out weekly visits with the person(s) you’re supporting, as agreed with the Volunteer Co-ordinator. This could be in a variety of settings, eg family home, a care home or in the community.

Provide one-to-one companionship and support.
For example: offering a listening ear and spending time engaging in every-day conversation, activities or hobbies with the person you are supporting. Driving clients to pre-arranged health or social care (e.g. to medical appointments) or taking short trips out. Helping with small, daily tasks, e.g. making tea or accessing the internet. Allowing carers to have a short break. You may be supporting your client’s family or carers before or during bereavement. This may involve offering emotional support, signposting to relevant local support services or finding out information as requested (This is only an outline as support will vary according to individual needs. Companion volunteers do not provide nursing or personal care, or offer counselling or advice)

Keep your manager informed of any changes to the situation, or any significant happenings in connection to the person you’re supporting and/or their family, either in person or by phone

Why am I needed?
Community is at the heart of everything that we do at Tenovus Cancer Care to help those affected by cancer. Our aim is simple – to deliver a vision where fewer people get cancer and those that do receive equal access to excellent treatment. However, we can’t do this without your help. Our shops in local communities are crucial to us raising vital funds. So, we’d like you to volunteer your time and commitment to help us make a difference. We need you to help create exciting collections to display and sell in our windows and in our shops to help turn unsaleable donated clothes into cash.
What will I be doing?
Creating a product/collection of products from upcycling donated stock items which are not saleable in their current condition
Promoting awareness of the charity and the services that we provide.

Role Title: Fundraising Admin Volunteer

Overall Aim
Housing for Women (H4W) is a charity and a housing provider with a mission to empower women and challenge inequality. We support women through affordable housing, help women and children escaping domestic abuse, survivors of trafficking, women leaving prison and older women.
We are looking for a Fundraising Volunteer to support the Fundraising Team. This will involve key tasks such as updating records on our Salesforce CRM system helping to reorganise the fundraising filing system and some comms work.
If you are looking to gain hands-on experience in administration under the guidance, support, and supervision of a friendly and experienced fundraising team, this is the perfect opportunity for you. We will provide relevant training and help you to identify career development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Administration
· To update and maintain our list of contacts on our Salesforce CRM
· To reorganise fundraising files and maintain an orderly system.
· To assist the team in dealing promptly with enquiries,
· To assist in the contact with donors,
· To assist the team in keeping fundraising systems and records up to date,
· To support the team with the planning and delivery of events to achieve fundraising targets.
2. Other
· To attend meetings including one to one meetings as and when required,
· To Act in accordance with the aims of Housing for Women
· To Promote and implement Housing for Women’s Equal Opportunities Policy and other polices adopted by the Board
Availability
We are looking for someone who can commit to 7 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. We are flexible with the days and hours, but the volunteer will be expected to be able to attend occasional pre-arranged virtual meetings during regular working hours.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.
