SHAK (South Hampstead and Kilburn Community Partnership) is a resident led charity based on the iconic Alexandra and Ainsworth estate* in the Kilburn ward of Camden NW London, an area of high rates of deprivation and poverty but big potential. Our mission is to enable young people and adults to overcome barriers to economic and social inclusion. We engage with residents and young people through a range of activities based at the SHELL Centre (a well-equipped resource centre) and the ARC youth club and music studio. Through these we offer a range of exciting and highly creative projects working in innovative ways with the local community.
Shak was established in 2003 and has a committed board of 6 trustees, staff team and volunteers who have played a key role in supporting the community during the recent COVID 19 and cost of living crisis. Impressive recent growth means that we wish to strengthen the board through the appointment of individuals who ideally have links to the area, time and skills to contribute towards the good governance of the organisation and support our work in the local community.
We are seeking 2-3 new trustees with skills and time to commit to fundraising. We are particularly interested in recruiting people who live locally and increasing representation at board level from minority communities. You would be joining at an exciting time when we are undertaking a strategic review and setting in place a new plan forward
Appointments are initially for three years, with the opportunity for re-election, up to a maximum of nine years. Trustees are unpaid, but reasonable out of pocket expenses can be reimbursed. The board meets quarterly (every 3 months) and has an Annual General Meeting. Between meetings, you may be asked to take on one or two other commitments such as supporting specific projects or areas of work e.g. Fundraising applications

We are seeking three individuals to be active members of our Board of Trustees, working collaboratively with other trustees, staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to help the food bank in pursuit of its Vision and Strategic Plan. The Trustee will also be expected to lead on certain areas and initiatives, as required by the charity, and which utilises the Trustees experience and skills.
Volunteering is a fantastic way for you to be involved in your local community and volunteers are at the heart of all that we do as a food bank. The role of volunteers who dedicate their time and skills to support people in crisis will continue to be critical as we work together to fulfil our vision of seeing a UK without the need for food banks.
Key Tasks:
- ensure that Stratford Upon Avon Foodbank complies with and pursues its objects as defined in its governing document, charity and company law, and other relevant legislation or regulations
- ensure that the food bank applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects
- give firm strategic direction to the food bank contributing to the food bank’s strategic plan, helping set policies, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets
- appoint the food bank manager and monitor their performance
- safeguard the good name and ethos of the food bank
- ensure the effective and efficient administration of the food bank
- lead and/or serve on sub-committees and attendance at various other meetings, including with the charity’s staff, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- ensure an understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of equality, equity, diversity and inclusion
Trustees may also undertake additional work for the charity between meetings subject to their availability and skill set.
About you:
We are looking for people who want to help their local community and work towards the eradication of food poverty whilst support the food bank to continue to provide emergency food to people who find themselves in crisis. Our ideal candidates would demonstrate:

We’re looking for event volunteers to assist us for our brand new event, Cancer is Everyone’s Business Dinner. This event will be held on Friday 11th October.
1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime, but it can affect anyone - no matter your age or gender. This dinner provides an opportunity for individuals and businesses from across Wales to come together to support people affected by cancer.
Our fabulous hosts Rhodri Gomer and Lowri Morgan will help us turn the iconic Glamorgan Cricket Club pink for the evening, where entertainment, fun and fundraising will be supplied by the bucket full.
What will I be doing?

The Communications Volunteer will write and coordinate our external communications. This includes CAW’s regular newsletter, stories and general information on our website, and campaign and research pieces. You will work alongside both our Research and Campaigns volunteers and key staff members.

• Contribute to fundraising efforts by producing copy for general appeals, individual and group emails and our website
• Proofread and edit copy produced by others when requested
Skills, experience and time commitment
• Enthusiasm and commitment to work alongside a motivated team providing advice and information for residents across Westminster
• Excellent writing, communication and “people” skills
• Experience in writing informative, persuasive or neutral content depending on the purpose of and audience for the communication
• Self-motivation and the ability to work independently
• IT skills necessary to support research across numerous existing Citizens Advice databases and platforms
• Knowledge and experience of marketing and communications which is transferrable to Citizens Advice
• Experience with digital media, layout/design, creating presentations and/or fundraising would be advantageous but are not essential for this role.
Ability to commit 1 or 2 days a week to the role on a regular basis; location is flexible but it is helpful to be able to come to CAW at least a couple of times each month and to participate in Advice Forums and other regular activities as these provide useful insights into our work and our clients’ experiences

- Lead the development of ADC’s social impact strategy, including practical tools and systems that not only track and measure impact performance, but also integrate impact analysis into strategy and decision-making
- Lead the development of ADC’s fundraising strategy, with a focus on developing long-term strategic public and private sector partnerships with global and regional corporates, institutions, foundations and high net worth individuals
- Play a role in relation to revenue generation by helping to define market relevant value propositions for consulting services based on our Theory of Change, with a goal of achieving a business model that is financially sustainable and delivers on ADC’s strategic vision for catalysing social impact
- Lead the creation of new social impact programs, interventions and goals that will inspire and drive the organisation to deliver social impact at scale, and ensuring that the ADC approach and Theory of Change is upheld and enhanced
- Lead the development of thought leadership initiatives that position ADC as an influential driver of systemic social change in Africa and leader in social impact research
- Play a role in creating and maintaining social impact content, and making it accessible to our Marketing & Communications team for sharing with internal and external audiences to promote ADC’s work
- Coordinate and provide oversight and support to the Social Impact team, guiding recruitment and onward career development of team members
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Essential
- +15 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector
- A track record of leading successful fundraising campaigns and grants applications
- Experience of design and delivery of social impact programs
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop long term relationships with institutional sponsors and individual major donors
- Familiarity with impact assessment methodologies and latest developments in the impact measurement field
- Ability to create powerful narratives that present social impact in a simple manner
- Ability to drive strategy in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team environment
- Demonstrated ability to create global and regional networks across the industry
- Ability to actively take initiative and help set things up in a start-up environment

- Experience working in an early stage star-tup and gone through a scaling phase

As chosen among 160 other organizations to work in collaboration with the Home Office on the “Building a Stronger Britain together” project, you will be joining a team, which not only supports the community but also stands up to extremism in all of its forms.
By joining Quilombo UK and QMC Capoeira School you will be supported and guided by experienced staff and volunteers, who are willing to share their skill set and will provided you with great opportunities for development in many different areas.
Ideal candidates will assist Quilombo UK in preparing funding bids that contribute to their further development. They should be well-organized, with a proactive attitude to deliver work that adheres to the key objectives of the organization. Candidates should be willing to volunteer at least 12 hours a week, for a duration of two months.
You will be volunteering as part of the team who are responsible for creating the bids to attract funding for our new or existing projects. The role will involve discussing project ideas and proposals with the management & project teams, searching for the right funding opportunities and preparing bids for submission.
You will work as part of an experienced team, where writing skills and experience in crafting persuasive and compelling content are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and write commercial proposals tailored to meet the specific requirements of clients and align with business objectives.
- Review and revise previously created proposals to ensure accuracy, coherence, and alignment with current business strategies.
- Collaborate closely with other team members, partners, and stakeholders to produce high-quality bid responses, compelling content, and effective key messages that align with win themes.
- Assist in establishing a comprehensive proposal development strategy.
- Propose innovative ideas for bid submissions in line with the established strategy and market demands.
- Collect, organize, and analyze all relevant information to be included in the proposals.
- Manage a detailed “bid plan” and ensure all proposals are approved and submitted before the stipulated deadlines.
Skills and Attributes:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Ability to work with Excel is an advantage; support will be provided if necessary.
- Excellent writing skills with a strong understanding of persuasive writing and narrative structure.
- Focused, organized, and able to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
- Some understanding of commercial market trends and research processes.

What will I be doing?
Volunteer Models
o We’re looking for models of all shapes and sizes to help showcase the incredible range of clothing available from our charity shops
o You will be required to provide your clothing size and possibly attend fittings in advance
Event Support
o Welcoming guests to the venue
o You may be asked to help set up banners, decorations, tables etc
o Sell raffle tickets, support with retail sales
o Packing up the event

How much time do I need to commit?
The Fashion Show on a Mission will take place on Friday 18th October from 7-9.30pm. We would require our volunteers to be at the venue from 2pm to support with setup or models from 6pm.
What support will I be given?
You’ll be supported by the events team on the day and will be joined by other volunteers too.
