Job description

Quilombo UK is looking for a Bid Writer (Grant & Funds), who loves to face work challenges; to join their growing team.

The Bid Writer (Grant & Funds) will play a critical role by assisting the manager to prepare the proposal that helps the organization to further develop and establish.

This role offers a great opportunity for the right person who is looking to; gain experience in the Third Sector; love to 'give back to their community'. The role is for you if you are looking for flexibility and autonomy. Where necessary specific training will also be provided to help you develop and grow your skill set.

Main Responsibilities

• Apart from writing proposals, you will also be reviewing and editing previously written content wherever necessary.
• Working with other team members to produce bid responses and writings
• Helps in writing funding applications for the varied projects that we run in order to meet our organisational objectives.
• Also helps in presentations and all supporting documentation.

General tasks

• Contribute to staff meetings and other internal meetings with views and suggestions etc.

Essential

• You must be based in the UK
• You will need to have good written skills
• Able to write effective, concise and compelling content
• You will be self-starting and willing to research and look for new funding opportunities that match our aims and objectives;
• Ability to work on tight deadlines
• Well organized, proactive and able to deliver tasks efficiently.
• Able to speak confidently with a variety of stakeholders.
• Good time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and excel.
• To show professionalism at all levels and in all environments
• Strong team player
• Ability to work independently and ask for clarification when needed.

The volunteering program with Quilombo UK requires a minimum of 16 weeks of commitment. We are looking for someone who can offer 12 hours a week, Monday - Friday (2 times a week).

Integrate UK invests in the skills and talents of marginalised  young people to nurture future leaders who promote our vision of gender and racial equality and cross- cultural cohesion. 

We aim to empower more young people to challenge inequality and to push for the policy changes they wish to see to create the society in which they wish to live.  Through their work with us the young people learn transferable skills, improve confidence and self-esteem, form positive relationships with peers from different religious and cultural backgrounds, raise attainment and lead a movement for positive change in their communities. We aim to give young people a voice and a platform for expressing their views and ideas.

As well as supporting young people with their learning, ambitions and aspirations, we run a wide range of creative and educational projects that they have devised themselves. 

Our older members deliver peer-education workshops in schools nationally using our young activists’ youth friendly, accessible media resources. Our workshops encourage discussion around a range of challenging issues including female genital mutilation (FGM), honour-based abuse (HBA), sexual harassment and assault, racism and different forms of extremism. 

From a small, local voluntary group founded by twelve girls, Integrate UK has grown to a national, multi award winning charity increasingly run by representatives from the groups with whom we work. In addition to our board of trustees, we have ten Junior trustees and an active youth board that steers our work and informs our approach.

Our young people are involved at every level of the organisation; they identify the issues they wish to address, design and deliver all our projects based on their lived experience.

We are in the process of developing an ambitious 3 - 5 year strategy and under the guidance of our young activists, a full rebrand. We are looking for new trustees to support our charity and continue our development. We actively encourage applicants that are representative of our beneficiaries’ diverse backgrounds and/or share lived experience with the issues our young people are facing.

The ideal candidate should have recent experience (within the last 5 years) in one or several of the following areas and demonstrate a willingness to be available to staff for advice and enquiries on an ad hoc basis:

• Marketing, Public Relations and Communications
• Charity Law / Law
• Education
• Safeguarding
• Fundraising (Major donors / corporate / trusts and foundations)
• Creative Industries (Arts / music / film / photography / theatre or advertising agencies)
• Charity Finance/Finance (Treasurer)
• Human Resources & People and Culture
• Activist or Anti-Oppression consultant or facilitator

As part of our board you will support and shape our strategic direction, as well as help us achieve our purpose to provide young people with the skills, opportunities and platforms to lead and to deliver the changes they want to see in terms of gender and racial equality. We nurture their aspirations, enabling them to achieve their full potential and to change, define and determine their own lives and those of future generations. As a trustee, you will have a real opportunity to offer your unique skill set to help the progression of the charity.

Opportunity summary
The Branch is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to establish a fundraising strategy for the branch. It is a great opportunity to become directly involved in animal welfare work.

Location
Mostly remote working, but we are looking for someone local to our branch cover area (Macclesfield, South East Cheshire and Buxton) to  potentially attend branch events or meetings.

Key activities
In conjunction with the committee, the Volunteer coordinator will produce, control and monitor a fundraising plan and budget dedicated to raising funds for the branch.
Maintain momentum for the branch fundraising programme through the recruitment and retention of volunteers. 
Be committed to the RSPCA’s objectives of promoting kindness and preventing cruelty to animals. 

Times and preferred duration of commitment
A few hours a month minimum. Flexible. An ongoing commitment is preferred.

Experience/skills/knowledge/personal qualities requiredYou will need to be able to work with people and have good interpersonal skills. You do not need to be an expert in any area although basic computer skills, commitment, common sense and the ability to be impartial is vital. Guidance will be provided.

Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and trial period. We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and dependent on the position, you may need to sign an agreement and undergo specific training before starting the role.

General Admin role to support the charities core day to day activity and give support to the Co-Chair of the charity as well as the volunteer GM. The role will include issuing volunteer agreeements, making sure all policies are up to date working with the trustees, issuing thank you letters and logging donations. A good understanding of balance sheets, use of excel, excellent communication skills are needed and you will need to love dogs and love being organised. We work in a fun team atmosphere remotely but we chat on WA and zoom often and are in touch daily. We also meet up for fundraising events across the country. Your skills will come into play when we host these fundraising events as well and there will be a chance to meet the team in person. Sound like this role was meant for you?
