About Been There:

 

Been There is a small (but growing!) charity in the form of an app that connects people aged 18 and over with a vetted and trained mentor to help with any body image issues they may be experiencing. This gives them the opportunity to speak to someone who has ‘Been There’ themselves. Our Mentors are here to support, empower and, most importantly, listen.

About the role:

 

If you are an experienced fundraiser, we need your help! Been There’s Board of Trustees share ultimate responsibility for governing the charity and directing how it is managed and run. As a member of the Board, you will help set the strategic aims, objectives and direction of the charity. The skills and knowledge you bring will enhance the Board and support Been There in achieving its charitable objectives

 

As a Fundraising Trustee, you will play a key role within our charity in assisting the Board to develop an ambitious fundraising strategy and help us to further improve the effectiveness of our income generation so we can maximise the number of service users we can provide support to. You will help to ensure our fundraising is of the highest standard and that we are meeting our fundraising objectives as well as complying with our legal duties. Alongside relevant experience, you will also possess an ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritising multiple tasks, and will be a natural team player with excellent written and spoken English.

Board meetings are held every other month for 2 hours (two via Zoom and one per quarter in Kingston-Upon-Thames). If required, this role can be completely remote and you can attend the quarterly meeting over video call.

 

Role Summary:

 

· To assist the Board of Trustees to develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy for Been There

· To guide, support, and challenge the Communications Manager and fundraising volunteers.

· To report to the Trustees on a regular basis, giving an update on fundraising achievements, plans, and progress.

· To ensure fundraising is of the highest standard and priority within a robust governance framework that meets all relevant legislation.

Main Responsibilities:

 

· Oversee fundraising to make sure it is carried out in legal, honest, and accountable ways.

· Strategically assess where fundraising fits into the overall charity strategy, and work with the Trustees to ensure effective income generation is being achieved.

· Contributing knowledge of fundraising techniques, best practice, and strategies.

· Assessing risks in new fundraising directions, alerting the Board of Trustees in a timely manner, as and when necessary, of key concerns.

· To report to the Board at a strategic level on the successes and challenges of the fundraising strategy.

· To help the charity further develop its fundraising capabilities through effective people and processes.

· On an ad hoc basis, to work with the Chair of Trustees and the Communications Manager, outside of the Trustee meetings, to support and develop the fundraising strategy.

Person Specification:

 

· To have substantial background as a senior charity fundraiser with a sound understanding and experience of charity fundraising at strategic and operational levels.

· A good understanding of fundraising within a small charity and the challenges facing small charities.

· Experience of diverse income generation practices.

· Sound, independent judgement and ability to think creatively.

· Ability to give constructive feedback and provide challenge.

· Experience in the charitable or voluntary sector.

· An ability to work to tight deadlines, ensuring prioritisation of multiple tasks.

Travel expenses directly incurred in our roles as Trustees on official business can be reimbursed. Board and Committee meetings are held in person or remotely with in person meetings normally held in London.

Specifics about the role

Willow seeks to appoint a new Board member as part of our succession planning. We are keen to hear from candidates who have skills or expertise in fundraising:

• Worked as a senior fundraiser in a charity with a range of public fundraising methods, and are used to setting targets and reviewing the effectiveness of different streams of income.  At Willow, you will help to scrutinise and enhance our fundraising strategy and may have experience of data insight and interrogation

We currently have 10 board members with a variety of backgrounds and experience including finance, investments, fundraising, PR and communications, management consultancy, events, and legal.  Our trustees work closely with the Chief Executive, leadership team and senior members of the team.

The Role

In this volunteer role, you'll be responsible for assisting with fundraising activities and managing grants to ensure the financial stability of the organisation. What difference will you make?

The Breck Foundation is a charity founded by Lorin LaFave after the tragic loss of her 14-year-old son, Breck Bednar, in 2014, through online grooming. Breck was groomed while enjoying his passions of computing and gaming. We want to ensure that no child is harmed through grooming and exploitation while enjoying their time on the internet. Prevention through education is essential.

Your contributions as a Fundraising and Grant Management Volunteer will have a direct and tangible impact on the safety of children and young people online. Branch Trustee – Fundraising

Do you have previous fundraising experience? If you do or are good at coordinating and organising events, we are looking for volunteer trustees to help us manage our fundraising activities so we can raise essential funds to improve animal welfare. 

Overview of the opportunity

As Branch Trustee Fundraising Coordinator, you will act as the central contact point for all branch fundraising activities and maintain momentum for the fundraising programme of your branch. You will have fun meeting new people, helping to recruit new volunteers and organising, and attending local events.

As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a monthly committee meeting lasting some 2 to 3 hours. However, the commitment may vary depending on whether the trustee takes on additional duties.

Founded in 1824 we have been saving animals for almost 200 years and are proud to be the oldest welfare charity around. The RSPCA Bridlington, Driffield & District Branch

The RSPCA Bridlington, Driffield & District Branch is one of the branches of RSPCA, but we are also a separately registered charity looking after animals in our local area. Much of the animal welfare work of RSPCA is carried out through local branches, which is run by volunteers who have the support of the National Society of RSPCA.

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee Fundraising Coordinator

•  Produce a fundraising plan and budget.
•  Identify fundraising roles and help recruit volunteers to fill them. 
• Liaise with the Volunteer Coordinator and establish and maintain a database of fundraising supporters and volunteers. 
• Identify potential sources of income to be explored.
• Organise fundraising events.
• Attend events to collect donations.
• Produce or organise the production of branch fundraising materials.
• Contact local businesses who might be interested in supporting our work.
• Produce monthly update reports for the Branch Trustees.
•  Ensure all fundraising activities and events are risk assessed and carried out safely and legally, including complying with data protection regulations and gift aid procedures.

Core Branch Trustee responsibilities

•  Appreciate and support the aims and policies of the RSPCA.
•  Work in conjunction with fellow trustees and branch officers and jointly act in making decisions for the best interest of the branch and the RSPCA.
• Work with national RSPCA staff to ensure that the branch meets all minimum animal welfare standards (MAWS).
• In conjunction with your fellow trustees and Branch Partnership Manager write, adopt, monitor, and review a development plan setting out the short and long term aims of your branch.
• Actively participate in branch committee meetings and to attend the branch annual general meeting and regional conference.
• Be aware of the outcome of regional board meetings and support regional initiatives.
• Actively promote and advertise the society in an ongoing programme to recruit new branch trustees and volunteers and welcome new members.
•  In conjunction with your fellow trustees, ensure the proper management and control of all activities and decisions relating to any premises held or staff employed by the branch if applicable.

What is a Trustee?

Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and direction of Project Trust, using their skills and experience to help the charity define and achieve its strategic aims.  The Board of Trustees functions as a unit and works closely with the Executive team to achieve agreed objectives. Trustees are ambassadors for the charity, giving their time on a voluntary basis.  Reasonable travel expenses will be covered where required.

What is the time commitment?

The Board of Trustees meets on average four times a year, this includes three half-day meetings held online plus an in-person Annual General Meeting that all Trustees are expected to attend.  Trustees may also be involved in Board sub-committees and/or short-term specific interest sub-groups, plus additional ad-hoc meetings.  Some time will also be required for reading and considering papers, and discussions with colleagues. You may be required to attend training events relevant to the role as necessary. 

Trustees are asked to serve for a minimum of three years, with a maximum term of nine years.

Tanzania Development Trust (TDT) works in some of the poorest parts of Tanzania, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty by funding small projects that meet their essential needs.  

It sponsors 40-50 small rural development projects p.a. in Tanzania, mainly in the areas of clean water, girls' education and small income generating activities. It also has 3-4 larger, longer-term projects. Its primary function is fundraising, although it provides general project management and business advice where appropriate. 

Around half of its income comes from individual donors, and half from Trusts & Foundations. It helps villagers in Tanzania who lack the capacity and language skills to present their projects to international donors, conducting project appraisals and monitoring project outcomes on their behalf. The projects are implemented by the villagers themselves, or by small local contractors.

TDT is run entirely by volunteers (17 regular volunteers in the UK and 16 local representatives in Tanzania). It has no paid staff, premises or overheads, so 100% of all money raised goes directly to projects in Tanzania.

We are looking for additional Trustees who can help us to grow by identifying potential donors, increasing awareness of our activities, and strengthening our project selection and monitoring procedures.

We would like at least one of the new Trustees to help us with fund-raising by piloting more innovative and creative approaches. Experience of living or working in Tanzania is not essential, but to improve the Board’s racial diversity we would like at least one of the new Trustees to be of Tanzanian origin or have strong connections with East Africa.

The Trustees are all unpaid. Although their main job is the overall direction of the business, they can become involved in day-to-day operations if they so wish. We all work remotely, which helps us to engage with our local representatives in Tanzania in everything we do.

The work we do is immensely rewarding. You would be joining a close-knit organisation that is growing and adapting to meet the needs of a changing world, where helping poor people to help themselves is of paramount importance.

Our vision is enabling university students to live God-centred lives, so we teach structured, engaging and transformative face-to-face foundational Islamic education to over 1,800 students across the UK.

 

Role Summary

As the grants officer, you will work closely with the fundraising team and the academic team, to write proposals and apply for funding. This will involve research into grants offered by trusts, foundations and institutions, identifying which opportunities Roots Academy would be eligible for, and playing a key role in developing proposals for grant applications.

Key tasks

- Research:

○ Research trusts, foundations, institutions and other funding bodies that offer funding for Islamic education, BAME education, other faith based or inter-faith work, building community cohesion, or other areas which would be applicable to Roots Academy.

○ Identify key funding opportunities and calls for applications.

- Grant Writing and Coordination:

○ Plan and oversee the proposal development process, working closely with the academic team to collate relevant planning and impact information for proposal narrative, and with the finance team to prepare budget requirements.

○ Ensure proposals are written in line with the relevant proposal guidelines.

○ Submit grant applications.

- Donor Relations:

○ Act as the main point of contact for trusts, foundations, institutions and other funding bodies.

Tafara Wellness Initiative

We are dedicated to empowering women and children in African communities to overcome mental health challenges and cultivate resilience and joy through providing free counselling.

Africa has a serious mental health issue that has to be addressed right away as the continent has the highest suicide rate in the world, estimated at 11.2 per 100,000 people, despite a moderate reduction over the past ten years (far above the global average of 9.0 per 100,000). Part of the mental health emergency is due to the AIDS epidemic, widespread poverty, and a lack of mental health resources and infrastructure. Providing mental health is essential for sustainable development as it enables individuals to pursue education, maintain employment and contribute positively to their communities. For women and children specifically, better mental health can lead to improved family dynamics, increased school attendance, and greater economic participation.

The Tafara Wellness Initiative looks to address the mental health crisis and build more resilient and thriving communities in Africa through:

• Ensuring women and children in Africa have access to timely, appropriate and tailored psychological and mental wellness programs that enable them to thrive.
• Expanding communal support and awareness for mental health and eliminate stigmas around mental health in African communities

Grants Writer

Role Description

-Identify and research potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources that align with our mission and goals. -Write compelling and persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications tailored to each funder's specific requirements and priorities. -Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information and develop detailed project descriptions, budgets, and outcomes for grant proposals. -Maintain a comprehensive calendar of grant deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements to ensure timely and accurate submissions. -Establish and maintain relationships with funders and other stakeholders, including attending relevant meetings, workshops, and networking events. -Track and report on the status of grant applications, including monitoring outcomes and preparing follow-up reports for funders. -Assist in developing and implementing strategies to increase the organization’s grant funding and diversify funding sources. -Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant writing and funding for mental health services.

Volunteer 4-6 hours per week for 6+ months remotely.

The Essex and Suffolk Rivers Trust is an environmental charity set up to protect, conserve and rehabilitate the rivers and estuaries of Essex and Suffolk. We are in an exciting time of growth and have been redefining our strategic plan up to 2030. We are looking for two new trustees to join us.

Our Trustees work together with our director to guide our organisation to achieve its vision to protect, conserve and rehabilitate the rivers and estuaries of Essex and Suffolk. As our organisation grows, we are seeking candidates who would like to join us in supporting, challenging, and directing our future plans. These plans will be set in the context of a fast-moving land use and environmental policy arena. We are keen to ensure make the most of the opportunities that are emerging for delivering projects on the ground.

Trustees will assist the Chair of the Board of Trustees in ensuring the good governance and financial sustainability of the charity; contributing to its strategic development, and share their specific areas of knowledge, experience, and expertise to enhance all that we do.

We are particularly interested to hear from people who:

• Have experience of leading and managing growth within an organisation.

• Can highlight how we could support finance and business in delivering biodiversity and carbon offsets.

• Have experience in developing successful corporate funding relationships.

• Have a background in any of the following areas: water and wastewater management, aquatic conservation, human resources or fundraising

• Can broaden and deepen the diversity of thought and experience represented in our organisation. We aim to represent and reflect diverse communities.

• Have experience and understanding of land-use and farming and the opportunities available for landowners and environmental organisations to work together to bring positive impacts for all.

It would also be ideal if you had:

• A desire to tackle nature and climate emergencies, in particular in the water environment.

• A track record of successfully working within or managing a senior team.

• Experience in writing funding bids and a good understanding of what makes them successful.

• An ability to think strategically and discern how to prioritise opportunities that will ensure growth and sustainability.

Liluye is a global, collaborative community of trafficking survivors, allies, and workshops committed to empowering people.

Liluye focuses on helping those that are most marginalized, specifically those who have been trafficked. We focus on prevention, economic empowerment and aftercare for those who have endured trafficking.

Liluye's dedication to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), is at the heart of The Thrive Tribe program, our personal development and coaching program for survivors. We aid in trafficking survivors' personal recovery while contributing to the broader goal of economic empowerment and gender equality. Liluye empowers survivors with the support, skills, and confidence needed to pursue sustainable livelihoods and contribute positively to their communities. We personally are on a mission to create environments and collaborative efforts to help girls and women feel safe, empowered, and heard. We also believe strongly in preventive efforts, addressing root causes to trafficking and collaborating with partners that share our vision to stop it.

Grant Writer

Role Description

Liluye seeks a driven, empathetic, honest, strategic yet process-minded leader with experience in grant research and writing. We are especially looking for individuals who particularly are passionate about: women and girls’ empowerment, anti-trafficking awareness and prevention, circularity, and diversity and inclusion.

The Grant Writer will research, write, prepare, submit, and report on grant proposals to governments, corporations, and foundations. Additionally, they will be responsible for prospect research to seek out new sources of funding that support Liluye’s work. The following is preferred:

• 1-2 years of grant writing and researching experience with a proven track record in the nonprofit sector • Submit an average of 1 – 5 grant proposals per month • Manage, track, and report on existing grant activities

This is a fantastic role to get involved locally and be at the forefront of solutions to help save nature in the Exeter area.

Join us as the volunteer leader of the RSPB Exeter & District Local Group and lead a group of enthusiastic members who are passionate about supporting the RSPB and exploring local wildlife. The group runs a full programme of activities, from outdoor walks and indoor talks to fundraising events. As the group leader, you will primarily lead the group and oversee the programme. You will be part of a friendly and helpful committee that share the same vision of bringing members closer to nature. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to use your leadership skills to make a valuable contribution to the work of the RSPB.
