Founded by William Wilberforce and other members of the Clapham Sect group of activists in 1799, today CMS supports hundreds of people and partners in mission working together across Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East. We also train UK Christians for creative, ground-breaking mission in Britain.
Context
With mission no longer being a “West to the rest” endeavour, and as Christianity has flourished in parts of the majority world, we have undertaken a prayerful review of our organisation, in order to discern our mission call for this generation.
We have rediscovered and been re-inspired by the pioneering spirit of our founders. We believe our calling for this time is to the “edges”: to the edges of society, the edges of church and to the edges of our comfort zones. To that end, we have been aligning our organisation and focus to play a catalytic role in facilitating movements of mission to and from these edges.

Taking a listening and reflective approach, as Chair you will draw out the diverse skills and wisdom among our trustees, ensure excellence in our governance, support the executive leadership in delivering our refreshed vision and play a role in strengthening our links with the Global Anglican Communion.

Solace is a Domestic Abuse Charity, this year celebrating 50 years of providing services to women and children. We are at an exciting time in our development with a new Executive Team. We are seeking new Trustees to contribute and define our role and maximise our impact.

NHS commissioning – We want to increase our knowledge and skills on the Board with an individual who has experience of assessing needs, planning and prioritising, purchasing and monitoring health services, to get the best health outcomes. We are looking for a dynamic individual with experience and understanding of Integrated Care systems to support Solace to navigate these commissioning and planning processes.
Digital technologies/ competencies- We want to increase our knowledge in digital strategy and digital infrastructure.We are looking for an individual who can support us to embrace digital changes and become more resilient as a charity. We are aware that digital advances could allow us to try new ways of working and new approaches to support survivors.

Our charity is about to begin a period of transformational change. We are in the process of recruiting our first staff-team, and are now looking for additional Trustees to join and work with the Board of Trustees and support our new six-strong team (which will include a CEO).

The aim of the Infection Prevention Society (IPS) is to inform, promote and sustain evidence-based infection prevention policy and practice to create a health and care system where no person's health and wellbeing is harmed by preventable infection.
Our broad membership includes infection control practitioners, scientists, clinicians and industry experts and we support our members via branches across the UK and Ireland. We deliver educational opportunities to support best practice in infection prevention and control through an annual conference, study days, our academic journal, and research activity. We support our members with a competency framework and credentialing system, international engagement opportunities and product evaluation services for industry.
The Infection Prevention Society has an independent Board of Trustees who are responsible for governance and risk management functions of the society. These include developing long-term strategy, assuring financial stability and compliance with governing documents, and evaluating performance. The Board works with the Management Executive Group (MEG) who are responsible for leading and managing the business activity of the Society.
What are we looking for?
Our new trustees will have skills in one or more of the following areas:

We are looking for applicants who really want to make a positive impact on our organisation. They should have strategic vision and good judgement, an ability to think creatively, and willingness to contribute opinions and ideas. A willingness to challenge is also desirable. An understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship is desirable although Trustees induction and training would be available. Previous experience as a Trustee is also desirable but not essential. Although the trustee positions are unpaid, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Trustees induction and training would be available.
The Board of Trustees hold a minimum of four meetings per year and trustees are also expected to attend the Annual General meeting which is held in the autumn.

Statutory Duties

Relationship with the Chief Executive and the Wider Executive Team
1. Foster an open and transparent working relationship with the Executive Team – CEO,Head of Operations and Head of Finance. Embed clear lines of communication to ensure the Chair and Board work together.
2. Ensure you develop and maintain an open and supportive relationship within which trustee can speak openly about concerns, worries and challenges.
3. Liaise with the Chief Executive to maintain an overview of the Charity’s affairs
4. Support the Chair conduct an annual appraisal and remuneration review for the Chief Executive in consultation with all other Trustees.
As well as the various statutory duties, any trustee should make full use of any specific skills, knowledge or experience to help the board make good decisions.

Tanzania Development Trust (TDT) works in some of the poorest parts of Tanzania, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty by funding small projects that meet their essential needs.
It sponsors 40-50 small rural development projects p.a. in Tanzania, mainly in the areas of clean water, girls' education and small income generating activities. It also has 3-4 larger, longer-term projects. Its primary function is fundraising, although it provides general project management and business advice where appropriate.
Around half of its income comes from individual donors, and half from Trusts & Foundations. It helps villagers in Tanzania who lack the capacity and language skills to present their projects to international donors, conducting project appraisals and monitoring project outcomes on their behalf. The projects are implemented by the villagers themselves, or by small local contractors.
TDT is run entirely by volunteers (17 regular volunteers in the UK and 16 local representatives in Tanzania). It has no paid staff, premises or overheads, so 100% of all money raised goes directly to projects in Tanzania.
We are looking for additional Trustees who can help us to grow by identifying potential donors, increasing awareness of our activities, and strengthening our project selection and monitoring procedures.
We would like at least one of the new Trustees to help us with fund-raising by piloting more innovative and creative approaches. Experience of living or working in Tanzania is not essential, but to improve the Board’s racial diversity we would like at least one of the new Trustees to be of Tanzanian origin or have strong connections with East Africa.
The Trustees are all unpaid. Although their main job is the overall direction of the business, they can become involved in day-to-day operations if they so wish. We all work remotely, which helps us to engage with our local representatives in Tanzania in everything we do.

Who we are
We are IPSEA, a national charity that works to ensure that children and young people with SEND receive the educational support they are legally entitled to. Since IPSEA was formed in 1983, we have helped to improve the education experience of thousands of children and young people with all kinds of SEND. We do this by providing free and independent legal advice and casework support, undertaking policy work and delivering training on the SEND law framework.
The impact of our work can be life-changing. If the needs of children and young people with SEND are properly understood as a result of a thorough assessment, if the necessary provision is put in place to support them, and if that support is delivered in a suitable school, college or other setting, they are significantly less likely to experience multiple fixed term and/or permanent exclusions, end up out of education for long periods, experience mental health problems, end up “NEET” (not in Education, Employment or Training) or enter the criminal justice system.
Who are we looking for?

The duties of a Trustee are to:

Nations Trustee role description
We are specifically looking for two Nations Trustees, one each for Northern Ireland and Wales. In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, the Nations Trustee will be expected to ensure that the Carers UK Board is informed on key issues affecting carers in the respective Nations.
In order to discharge this responsibility, the Nations Trustee will be expected to:
- attend the quarterly Nation Committee meetings and the Annual Conference
- establish working relationships with the Director of Devolved Nations, and with the Chair and other members of the Nations Committees
- represent Carers Wales and Carers Northern Ireland at some external events
- sit on recruitment panels as required.
Person specification
- Sound knowledge of the relevant Nation’s issues, the devolved responsibilities held by the relevant Government, its diversity and geographical challenges
- A willingness to understand the work being delivered in the relevant Nation, context, key priorities and aims
- Be a Welsh/ Irish language speaker, or willing to learn (desirable)
- It is essential that the Trustee lives in the relevant Nation and is willing and able to travel to Cardiff/Belfast and London with some overnight stays required.

Elizabeth Casson Trust seeks new Trustees to support the development of occupational therapists and the profession in the UK and internationally.

The Elizabeth Casson Trust was established in 1948 to further the profession of occupational therapy and support the development of occupational therapists within the UK and beyond. We have developed as an organisation through the years but have always worked to stay true to the pioneering spirit of Dr Elizabeth Casson.
The Trust supports the development and translation of research into practice, and the acquisition of knowledge and skills by occupational therapists. We achieve this through the awarding of grants. In addition, we commission specific projects through our innovation awards to respond to current and emerging needs.
We stay connected to our profession, professionals and service users to ensure the relevance and sustainability of the Trust.
Our current strategy includes working in partnership across all organisations where occupational therapists have a presence. We provide support and development in the most accessible way and ensure equality and diversity from the Board through funding awards to our future focus.
As we continue to deliver our current strategic plan for 2020-2025, we are in the process of appointing a new Executive Officer. Our current EO is leaving after 8 years with the organisation. As we look to the future in anticipation of creating our next strategy and with trustees coming to the ends of their terms, we are looking to appoint three new trustees to our Board.
Who we are looking for.
We are looking to appoint three new trustees, including two occupational therapists and one lay trustee. To ensure our Board broadly represents the profession, we have a particular interest in recruiting OTs with experience in social care, learning disabilities, acute care, NHS/ICS and/or independent practice. For the third trustee, we are looking for an individual with finance experience and an understanding of investments. The Board meets four times a year, twice online and twice in person in London, including our Away Day and AGM. The time commitment is the equivalent of up to a day per month, which includes meeting preparation, representation at external events and, from time to time, participation in a Trust project. Our trustee with financial expertise will join our Finance and Governance Committee, which meets monthly for up to an hour online.

Overview
Charity Purpose
- Raise funds for research into the cause, prevention and management of dementia.
- Allocate funding to university research project meeting the highest academics standards.
- Raising awareness of dementia.
Objective
- Holds the Executive team and the Board to account to:
- remain focussed solely on the BRACE stated purpose
- remain compliant with all English and Welsh laws and the regulations of the Charity Commission. - Support the Chief Executive in ensuring both the Board members and Executive team work closely together to achieve the agreed strategic objectives.
- Act (in partnership with the Chief Executive) as an ambassador and the public face of BRACE.
Charity Structure
- BRACE the charity has a sole Trustee “BRACE Trustee Limited”. All members of the Board are Directors of BRACE Trustee Limited and act as Trustees of BRACE. There are up to 15 directors of BRACE Trustee Limited who for reasons of clarity are called Trustees.
- The Chair and Trustees are usually appointed for a fixed term of 4 years which can be renewed once, enabling Trustees to serve for a maximum continuous term of 8 years.
Meetings
- Board meetings are held 4 times a year plus 1 awayday. Each meeting is +/- 4 hours.
- There are currently 3 sub-committees of the Board (Scientific Advisory Committee [SAC], Finance and HR). The 3 sub-committees meet no more than one month before the board meetings either in person or on Zoom. SAC reviews applications for grants and makes recommendations to the Board for approval.
- Board Meetings are generally held in person in the Bristol area, online or hybrid meetings are not encouraged but can be facilitated.

About The Role
Would you like to help shape the future of The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland?
NYOS is seeking to appoint up to four new Trustees to our Board. We are looking for candidates who share our dedication to ensuring that Scotland’s young musicians, from all backgrounds, can access world-class classical music-making opportunities.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience of environmental sustainability, arts policy, public affairs advocacy, HR, orchestral management, marketing and communications, young people’s wellbeing/mental health, and EDI.
The NYOS Board meets four times a year, and each Trustee may also be part of a smaller committee or working group which meets up to four times a year. NYOS Trustees are asked to serve a four-year term, with the option to serve a second term.
No prior governance experience is necessary. NYOS will offer training and development opportunities, as well as 1-2-1 mentorship from an existing board member if required, to ensure you are fully supported in your role.
This is a voluntary role. However, NYOS is committed to removing financial barriers for all Trustees and can cover reasonable expenses for travel and accommodation, and remuneration for loss of earnings.
