As a Fundraising Volunteer, you will play a vital part, in organising and assisting with our fundraising activities. All the proceeds from these activities go directly towards the essential animal welfare work that we do at branch level. We rescue and rehome around 200 animals each year and provide community help and support with animal welfare in all DA postcodes plus BR8 postcodes.

Volunteer Fundraising Volunteer responsibilities:

Job Title:  Member of the Listed Buildings Advisory Committee

Seeking volunteers with a special interest in the Conservation of Historic Places of Worship for the Methodist Church’s Connexional Listed Buildings Advisory Committee.

Do you have expert knowledge of the ecclesiastical historic built environment? Non-conformist architecture and heritage? Expert knowledge of the conservation of our fixtures of architectural and historic significance? Or knowledge of Methodist liturgy and worship in a historic Place of Worship? Do you want to be part of an expert group and use your skills and gifts to help reimagine and re-purpose our historic places of worship for growth and sustainability? 

About the role

The Listed Buildings Advisory Committee (LBAC) is a long – established Committee of the Methodist Church whose primary purpose is to fulfil the responsibilities set out by the relevant Standing Orders (980) and statutory responsibilities and provide expert knowledge on all matters relating to historic church buildings.

Members of the Committee reflect a wide spectrum of interest; some are professionally concerned with the conservation of listed buildings, others have a special interest in the history of Methodist chapels and churches, or archaeology, whilst others are Methodist ministers or church members.

Strong emphasis is placed on a church being the people of God and the Calling of the Methodist Church with the building being there to serve a living church within a changing community. Membership of the LBAC therefore reflects the balance between the need for rigorous conservation and the necessary adaptation of listed church buildings to meet changing needs.

Sympathy with these aims is desirable but membership of the Methodist Church is not essential. 

About You

As a member of the LBAC you will contribute to the review, evaluation and recommendation process for proposals relating to works of alteration to listed buildings owned by the Methodist Church. The primary duty is to provide expert guidance and advice on conservation and development of historic church buildings and have a specialist knowledge in one or more than one of the following areas:

· knowledge of the history, development and use of Methodist chapels;

· knowledge of Methodist liturgy and worship;

· knowledge of archaeology;

· knowledge of the history and development of architecture and the visual arts; and

· experience of the care of historic buildings and their contents.

This is a voluntary unpaid position; however, some additional expenses can be agreed. All appointments shall be notified to the relevant amenity societies and statutory bodies.

Outreach Support Liaison 

Helping our Trustees and Outreach Workers with the production of our events and publicity materials.  This may include liaising with partner organisations providing services and events for older people and printers producing our brochures, programmes and leaflets. It can also include preparing and distributing individual tea packs when we do a tea at home event aimed at the housebound.

Event Companion

Our research has shown that for many isolated older people having a companion can make it easier to take the first steps to join local events and organisations.  Our companions help older people by accompanying them to a few events and helping them meet with other people so that their confidence is developed. This role requires a DBS certificate.

Transport

Our research has shown that getting to events is difficult in our rural area.  Buses services, when available, often do not run to timetables that allow easy attendance at events.   So, our Transport Volunteers provide a pickup and return service.  Transport Volunteers need to have a suitable vehicle and also hold a DBS certificate.

Exhibition Support

​Silver Salisbury Group often attends events to promote our work.  We always need volunteers to help run the stand.  This involves helping set up and take down of the stand,  dealing with the public, selling jams and other items to raise funds. Venues are various and can be indoors or outdoors.  Volunteers work as part of a team on the day.

 ​

Baking

Silver Salisbury Group hosts many tea parties as part of its programme and is always looking for volunteers able to provide cakes and savouries for such events.  These are not sold but we particularly welcome contributions from bakers who are able to list ingredients so we can avoid any danger to those with food allergies or dietary requirements.

Social Media​

We are increasingly relying on social media to advertise our offerings to our target audiences.  We are very keen to find volunteers who are interested in editing and managing our on-line presence.  If you are a person undertaking education or training in social media we can offer you a project as part of your course.

Brochure Distributors

We need to deliver our printed programmes, newsletters and leaflets.  We would love to hear from individuals or groups who might be able to help with this occasional distribution task.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan and execute the Employment Support strategy and service line:

• CV Assistance and subsidising travel: Organise and oversee quarterly CV clinics and provide discretionary support for travel costs associated with interviews and courses, enhancing job readiness among community members.

• Discretionary interview support: provide access to high quality discretionary interview practice and advice.

• Job opportunity signposting: Develop and maintain partnerships with businesses and organizations to highlight job opportunities for the community. Act as a liaison for discretionary referrals to these job opportunities, ensuring a fit between community members’ skills and available positions.

2. Measure performance: Keep accurate count of the number of individuals assisted with CVs, job applications and interview preparation; the number vacancies shared with the community and any successful placement rates of those assisted. Provide this data to the Governance Team and Trustees on request.

3. Collaboration with Verticals Teams: 

• Partnership Development & Collaboration Team: Coordinate with this team to identify and establishalliances and partnerships with local, regional and global organisations, businesses, councils, and thegovernment to acquire Employment Supportresources, speakers or information.

• Fundraising & Financial Management Team: Collaborate with this team to conduct fundraising activities and financial planning for the Employment Support service line. Identify diverse revenue streams, such as grants, donations, corporate sponsorships, fundraising events for the Employment Supportservice.

• Volunteer Engagement Team: Work with this team to recruit, train and manage volunteers to support the Employment Support service delivery.

Trustee Support:

• Act as the primary liaison between the Board of Trustees and potential partners.

As a Fundraiser for Little Paws Rescue, you will play a crucial role in securing the financial resources needed to sustain and expand our services. You will work closely with the charity directors to execute fundraising campaigns, engage with donors, and innovate new ways to generate income.

This role is essential for us to sustain our work as a charity, and we’re looking for someone with bags of enthusiasm, a can-do attitude, and of course, a passion for our feline friends!

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement effective fundraising strategies and campaigns.

- Organise fundraising events and initiatives, from conception to execution.

- Build and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, and the local community.

- Apply for grants and corporate sponsors.

- Work closely with the marketing officer (to be appointed) to utilise our website and social media in the fundraising strategy.

- Maintain accurate records of all fundraising activities and donor information in compliance with GDPR regulations.

Requirements:

- Ideally some experience in fundraising and/or marketing.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong organisational skills.

- Creative thinker with a flair for devising and implementing fundraising initiatives.

- An understanding of the challenges facing small non-profit rescues.

- Must have own laptop/IT equipment.

- Proficiency in Excel and social media platforms

Join our amazing volunteer team in this flexible opportunity that puts you at the heart of our work supporting blind and partially sighted people. You’ll make taking part in events and carrying out volunteering easier and more enjoyable for our customers and volunteers with sight loss.

You’ll take some of the stress and anxiety out of getting around and taking part in activities as a blind or partially sighted person. The help you give will encourage people to do more.

What you’ll be doing

• Sighted guiding / giving practical help to individuals in and around venues, so they can take part in events. 

• Supporting volunteers with sight loss with their volunteering activities which range from facilitating a regular community group to delivering a talk about sight loss to a local business.  Your role would involve things like guiding; Meeting and greeting at group activities or creating a welcoming and interesting display stand at events.

In this role you will only be helping individuals in places open to the public, often in a group setting.  We will provide training in sighted guiding techniques and understanding sight loss.

Our aims 

Popham Kidney Support (PKS) provides children, youths and adults with kidney disease and their families in Wales with a better quality of life by improving their emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing and improve their knowledge through education. 

Role summary 

Our Charity Champions are passionate individuals who are committed to supporting PKS. You will work alongside the PKS Team to support the charity, raising money in your area, identify new fundraising opportunities and raise awareness of PKS and their Services. 

Role description 

Charity Champions represent PKS in their local area. There are various ways to do this, and the role is flexible, so you are free to pick and choose which activities appeal to you. Here are some examples of activities Charity Champions do: 

• Attending cheque presentation events as a representative of PKS
• Attending community events as a representative of PKS
• Attending organised walking, running, and cycling events to cheer on people taking part for PKS.
• Organising your own fundraising activities e.g. bucket collections, cake sales or raffles 
• Supporting PKS fundraising and/or awareness events e.g. bucket collections, festivals ro regional shows etc
• Providing information in your local area about the support PKS provides e.g. putting information leaflets in local GP surgeries, supermarkets or posters on community notice boards 
• Holding awareness stands at community events. 
• Taking part in or encouraging others to get involved in fundraising events throughout the year 
• Supporting social media campaigns by sharing content with your network 
• Delivering talks about the work of the charity and the importance of fundraising 
• Promoting PKS within your own network and encouraging more people to fundraise for us 

Person specification 

• We welcome applicants with different skills and experience – however it is essential that you are passionate about PKS and supporting the work that we do to help patients and families face kidney disease. Below are some of the attributes we look for in Popham Community Champions:
• Good communication and interpersonal skills 
• An ability to recognise and follow up on opportunities in your community and through your own networks 
• Flexibility 
• Organisational skills 
• Positive outlook 
• Willing to complete paperwork such as expenses forms and keeping track of what activity you have done 
• Ability to travel around your local area (within reason). A clean driver’s licence is advantageous but not essential. 
• Good presentation and public speaking skills 
• Friendly and approachable 
• All Charity Champions must abide by PKS values and agree to our policies and procedures 

Time commitment 

Time can be as little or as much as you can give. We ask that all Popham Charity Champions complete an induction (either face to face or virtually) and be happy to attend regular meetups with other volunteers in their region if they are available. Once the induction is complete you will receive volunteer clothing, ID badge and pack and we will inform you of all our volunteering opportunities. If you have more time and would like to organise events, collections or find out what is going on in your area, we will provide you with the tools to support you in your efforts.
