About the role

The Board of Governors is the non-executive body of St. Brendan’s Sixth Form College. Together, they take responsibility for the strategic development, financial position, and academic character of the organisation. The Board work closely with the Principal and her senior leadership team and provide constructive support and challenge through discussions and the appraisal of reports, all with our mission and core purpose in mind.

Governors contribute by attending meetings of the board and its committees:

· Audit Committee

· Ethos, Safeguarding & Welfare Committee

· Resources, Premises & HR Committee

· Strategy, Search & Remuneration Committee

· Teaching, Curriculum & Quality Committee

At meetings, the Principal & CEO, with her senior team, shares reports and updates on strategic developments. Governors are asked to make important decisions relating to the character, culture, and organisational development of the college. To support them to do this well, there are numerous opportunities throughout the year where governors are welcomed into the college to meet with staff and students, and experience what life is like as an employee or student of St. Brendan’s.

Who we are looking for

Following recent changes to the Board of Governors, through terms of office ending and a recent recruitment round, we have identified the need to appoint a new Foundation Governor. The new Governor will contribute their expertise in leadership or management, alongside sharing in our Catholic faith. Furthermore, having financial expertise would be advantageous.

The new Foundation Governor’s appointment will be approved by the Diocese of Clifton for an initial four-year period, and so the person appointed should have the capacity to devote the necessary time and energy to the role, through preparing for and attending meetings, and making visits to the college for celebration events, and to meet with staff and students.

• The Fundraising and Financial Management vertical covers fundraising and money matters: This team is all about finding resources—like getting donations and grants—to keep our programmes strong and healthy.They will spend their time writing fantastic letters, sponsorship proposals and funding requests on behalf of Barawak as a whole, but also (supporting programme leads) to specific organisations for Barawak service lines.

• The Strategic Partnership Development and Collaboration vertical covers building bridges: They're the connectors, making friends with other groups, businesses, and everyone who can help us grow.

• The Volunteer Engagement vertical covers welcoming our helpers: This bunch is in charge of gathering our most valuable resource—people like you who want to volunteer and make a difference.

Each vertical team works in two distinct ways: the first way is for Barawak as a whole, and the second way is in support of each Barawak service, feeding our programmes, like roots bringing water and nutrients to the branches. Introduction to the Strategic Partnership Lead Role

The Strategic Partnership Lead is crucial in forging strong connections and building strategic alliances. This role focuses on nurturing relationships that support Barawak’s overall mission and each unique programme, ensuring the organisation's growth and the successful delivery of its objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Trustee Support:

• Act as the primary liaison between the Board of Trustees and potential partners.

• Advise trustees on partnership opportunities that align with Barawak's strategic direction.

• Prepare briefing materials and strategic recommendations for trustees on collaboration efforts.

• Coordinate with trustees to identify partnership needs and priorities across all service lines.

Barawak-wide Partnership Development:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive partnership strategy for Barawak as a whole.

Strategic Alliance Management:

• Maintain a dynamic network of partners, constantly evaluating and nurturing these relationships.

Reporting and Analysis:

Love Rwanda Initiative

A youth and women organisation focused on empowerment programs with an emphasis on Sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), Mental health and Livelihoods.

1. Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Limited access to information and SRHR services: Challenge: Young people and women in Rwanda still remain out of reach from adequate information prior to their first sexual act, which brews misconception of facts hence leading to risk behaviors. High levels of teenage pregnancy and unsafe abortion: Challenge: Teenage pregnancy rates remain high and many young women continue to resort to unsafe abortions since they cannot access safety services. Gender-Based Violence Challenge: Gender-based violence, in particular sexual assault and domestic violence, is rampant against the health and well-being of women and girls.

2. Mental Health: Stigma/Lack of Awareness Challenge: The stigmatization of mental health issues prevails with a corresponding lack of awareness and understanding about mental health in the community. Lack of Mental Health Services: Challenge: The avenues available for mental health services are very few, and the personnel is few in number; therefore, accessibility to the required aid becomes difficult.

3. Livelihoods: Unemployment and Underemployment: Challenge: Most youths and women face high levels of unemployment or low wage employment with no stability. Lack of Entrepreneurial Opportunities: Challenge: Women and youth lack resources and facilitation to start and sustain enterprises of their own. Economic Dependency: Challenge: Economic dependency on male family members constrains women's autonomy and puts them at a low decision-making power.

1. Comprehensive sexual education programs, partnering with local clinics to provide easy access, and raising awareness campaigns regarding SRHR in the community.
2. Contraception, family planning, and müş promoting safe and legal abortion services.
3. Support service provision to survivors of GBV, including counseling and legal aid, with community education on prevention of violence against women for gender equality.
4. Conduct sensitization and campaigns to raise awareness on mental health, reduction of stigma, and promotion of good mental health in the community.
5. Counseling centers, training of mental health professionals with peer support groups
6. Provide vocational-training programs for people with marketable skills that will enhance job employability.
7. Provide entrepreneurship training skills and financial literacy accompanied by access to micro-finance and grants for people willing to start small businesses.
8. Economic Empowerment by means of livelihood programs that allow women to generate their own income towards financial independence.

Role Description

Responsibilities:

1.Content Development:

-Create, edit, and publish high-quality content for the website, including articles, blog posts, success stories, program updates, and event announcements. -Collaborate with programs team to gather relevant information and translate it into compelling web content. -Ensure all content is aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and branding guidelines.

2.Website Management:

-Maintain and update website content regularly to keep it current and relevant. -Monitor website performance and user engagement, making improvements based on analytics and feedback. -Maintain website's functionality, user experience, and visual appeal.

3.SEO optimization:

-Ensuring content is optimized for search engines (SEO) with relevant keywords, meta tags and description to improve visibility and organic traffic. -Analyze website traffic and user behavior using tools like Google Analytics, and report on key metrics to inform content strategy.

4.Technical Maintenance:

-Ensure website security, backups, and regular updates to content management systems and plugins. -Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to the website.

We are seeking Community Engagement Officers to join our team and help raise awareness of BPD and our work. This is an exciting opportunity to join us, and gain experience of working for a small non-profit with big ambitions.

About Us

We are Borderline Support UK CIC, a non-profit organisation which is entirely volunteer-run and is led by our service users who are living with, or affected by, borderline personality disorder (BPD). We provide support and information to anyone in the UK affected by BPD. Every year we support more than 2000 people through our peer support groups and support services. We support people diagnosed with BPD, those who are living with symptoms, and their loved ones.

About the role

Our Community Engagement Officers are our ambassadors, and help us to share information and raise awareness of BPD and our work. They act as ambassadors for our organisation, providing information in their local community. They do this by activities such as:

• Attending events, such as community information days or health information days
• Giving talks and presentations online or in person to community groups

This is a very flexible role, you can choose activities that you find most interesting and that match your skills or experience – you can develop your own activities, we welcome and appreciate all ideas to help promote awareness. You will be part of a small team lead by a Community Engagement Manager, and will also work closely with the fundraising team - you will have the opportunity to attend fundraising events or assist in event planning, if that is something you are interested in.

We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers will be required to complete induction and basic training before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18, and have the right to live and work in the UK.

As a Fundraising Volunteer, you will play a vital part, in organising and assisting with our fundraising activities. All the proceeds from these activities go directly towards the essential animal welfare work that we do at branch level. We rescue and rehome around 200 animals each year and provide community help and support with animal welfare in all DA postcodes plus BR8 postcodes.

Volunteer Fundraising Volunteer responsibilities:

• Organise, advertise, and promote fundraising activities to raise vital funds to improve animal welfare.

• Plan and participate in organised events for fundraising over an agreed time period.

The Community Farm just south of Bristol is looking for an accountant and a lawyer to join our Management Committee. You will be joining a strong team of energetic and enthusiastic committee members who work closely with our senior staff team. The committee is responsible for governance, rather than operations, but as a small and young organization we are closely involved in the life of the Farm. The Community Farm is a not-for-profit organic farm. We grow, source and deliver local organic and climate-friendly food across Bristol, Bath, Chew Valley, Frome, Weston-super-Mare and places in between. Our aim is to reconnect people with land and food, and to care for the natural world - of which we are a part. Every year over fifteen hundred people benefit physically and mentally from courses, events and volunteering at The Farm.

This is a varied and interesting role in which you will play an important part in supporting ETS and its growth. The Fundraising Officer will develop and coordinate our community fundraising (individual giving and events) and support the Director/ Trustee in charge of Strategy and Fundraising, with running other fundraising applications where applicable.

The role also involves developing new areas of fundraising (e.g. corporate; major gifts; mid-level giving). Providing new ideas and innovation to support our phases of growth and in doing so be an important member of our team.  This is predominantly a fundraising role which may overlap with reporting and data management responsibilities. We hope this position will move into a paid position, once we achieve our targets with the three phases of growth.

Bath Welcomes Refugees (BWR) is seeking a Volunteer who will sit on the Management Committee and be the overall Coordinator of the social events we run and social activity opportunities we are offered.

Who we are:

BWR harnesses the goodwill of the community in welcoming and supporting refugees and asylum seekers to thrive in their new community.  BWR is a small inclusive charity. Volunteer-led and non-partisan, we help refugee families out of desperate circumstances and into a promising future. Our volunteers provide hands-on support with English-language teaching, resettlement support, helping with our creche and at social events. We also have volunteers who help with employability, DIY, gardening, fundraising and more.

Expectations for this volunteer role include:

• Coordinate one of the regular monthly social groups we run.

• Maintain an overview of the other social groups and support volunteers running these.

• Respond to occasional ad-hoc offers and opportunities  regarding social, sporting and leisure activities (e.g. from theatres, universities, football clubs), coordinating activities as appropriate and depending on priority and capacity  within BWR.

• Liaison with other organisations and facilities, to support both specific BWR activities and to further social integration of our clients in community activities.

• Maintain recording systems regarding social activities.

• Be a member of the BWR Management Committee.

Your skills and experience:

• Understanding of refugee issues

• Sensitivity to other cultures

• Experience of coordinating team work and working within a team

• First aid training desirable

• Car driver/owner desirable

Time commitment:.

• Attending monthly BWR Management Committee meetings (evenings, approx 2 hours)

• Coordinating and attending monthly social group (approx 5 hours, including coordinating volunteers, setting up and clearing away)

• Wider Management Committee and BWR issues, mostly via email (variable)

Overview

Charity Purpose

• Raise funds for research into the cause, prevention and management of dementia.
• Allocate funding to university research project meeting the highest academics standards.
• Raising awareness of dementia.

Objective

• Holds the Executive team and the Board to account to:
  - remain focussed solely on the BRACE stated purpose
  - remain compliant with all English and Welsh laws and the regulations of the Charity Commission.
• Support the Chief Executive in ensuring both the Board members and Executive team work closely together to achieve the agreed strategic objectives.
• Act (in partnership with the Chief Executive) as an ambassador and the public face of BRACE.

Charity Structure

• BRACE the charity has a sole Trustee “BRACE Trustee Limited”. All members of the Board are Directors of BRACE Trustee Limited and act as Trustees of BRACE. There are up to 15 directors of BRACE Trustee Limited who for reasons of clarity are called Trustees.
• The Chair and Trustees are usually appointed for a fixed term of 4 years which can be renewed once, enabling Trustees to serve for a maximum continuous term of 8 years.

Meetings

• Board meetings are held 4 times a year plus 1 awayday. Each meeting is +/- 4 hours.
• There are currently 3 sub-committees of the Board (Scientific Advisory Committee [SAC], Finance and HR). The 3 sub-committees meet no more than one month before the board meetings either in person or on Zoom. SAC reviews applications for grants and makes recommendations to the Board for approval.
• Board Meetings are generally held in person in the Bristol area, online or hybrid meetings are not encouraged but can be facilitated.
