We are looking for editors, proofreaders, and typists to support young people's stories!
You do not have to be a published writer, just have lots of enthusiasm for creative writing and young people. Super Power Agency volunteers come from every walk of life. Some want to give back to their local community, others want to gain experience in publishing and some just want to help out!
All of the work our young writers do is published into a book of some form.
If you’d like to be involved but find it difficult during typical school hours, then the Extraordinary League of Editors, Proofreaders, Helpers And Nifty Typists (E.L.E.P.H.A.N.T.) might be the editing collective for you! This is back-end remote volunteering, and is integral to publishing the young writers’ work.
The writing is split up into batches, each taking approximately one hour, and you are welcome to do as many or as few as your schedule allows!
About Super Power Agency
Founded in 2016, The Super Power Agency aims to improve the lives and literacy rates of some of Edinburgh's most under-resourced young people. Through a range of writing workshops, interdisciplinary creative programmes and the help of community volunteers, we aim to empower children and young people (8-18 years) through literacy. We are currently working with Leith Academy, with plans to expand to other schools and youth-serving organisations in Edinburgh and beyond.

The Organisation
Portsmouth Students’ Union Trading Company Ltd (PSUT) is the social enterprise business arm for the University of Portsmouth Students’ Union (UPSU), and seeks to enhance the experience of every Portsmouth student in collaboration with UPSU, University of Portsmouth (UoP) and Community Partnerships whilst contributing financially to the wider organisation. PSUT formed in 2007 generating just £8,000 operating profit and previous to the C-19 pandemic that number had grown to £130,000. Today, the company has endured the challenges of business stoppage and is once again making a comfortable and sustainable revenue to support the charity.
Purpose of Trading Company

- Provide opportunities for students to integrate into their Portsmouth Community

Current position and Future Aims
The Cost of Living Crisis and changes in student recruitment are some of the latest factors in the dynamic and responsive landscape in which PSUT operates. Uniquely, we are a responsive trading company, adapting our products, events and offers annually in tune with student data and the changing needs of our cohorts.
We are currently seeking opportunities to grow the partnership we have with our bespoke digital platform product for SU’s, explore the growth in online sales, expand our commercial client offer across the city and potentially wider for our distance and commuter students as well as maximise the opportunities from our temporary and then permanent building move over the next two years.
We are looking for one independent non-executive Director to Chair our Trading Company Board to support the enterprise through its next steps as we seek to broaden our portfolio of businesses and increase the financial contribution to the University of Portsmouth Students’ Union charity.
A strong and active Board is crucial for us as we implement our new strategy and endeavour to grow our business; one that is flexible and agile enough to react quickly to the changing needs and interests of our members and drive an increasing level of profit for the charity.

Nicole Ilunga Foundation
The Nicole Ilunga Foundation actively works to combat gender inequality through initiatives focused on protection, education, and healthcare.
The Democratic Republic of Congo's low female representation in economic and political spheres, despite constitutional and international commitments and despite the current prime minister being a woman, demands urgent attention. Shocking statistics reveal that fewer than 10% of women are involved in political bodies, and those who do participate face frequent violence and harassment. Overcoming cultural, social, and economic barriers is essential to enhancing women's political engagement.
Nicole Ilunga Foundation is dedicated to implementing a comprehensive range of educational activities aimed at empowering women and youth, especially those from underserved backgrounds, to take on leadership roles, advocate for change, and develop entrepreneurial skills.
