Love Rwanda Initiative
A youth and women organisation focused on empowerment programs with an emphasis on Sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), Mental health and Livelihoods.
-
Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Limited access to information and SRHR services: Challenge: Young people and women in Rwanda still remain out of reach from adequate information prior to their first sexual act, which brews misconception of facts hence leading to risk behaviors. High levels of teenage pregnancy and unsafe abortion: Challenge: Teenage pregnancy rates remain high and many young women continue to resort to unsafe abortions since they cannot access safety services. Gender-Based Violence Challenge: Gender-based violence, in particular sexual assault and domestic violence, is rampant against the health and well-being of women and girls.
-
Mental Health: Stigma/Lack of Awareness Challenge: The stigmatization of mental health issues prevails with a corresponding lack of awareness and understanding about mental health in the community. Lack of Mental Health Services: Challenge: The avenues available for mental health services are very few, and the personnel is few in number; therefore, accessibility to the required aid becomes difficult.
-
Livelihoods: Unemployment and Underemployment: Challenge: Most youths and women face high levels of unemployment or low wage employment with no stability. Lack of Entrepreneurial Opportunities: Challenge: Women and youth lack resources and facilitation to start and sustain enterprises of their own. Economic Dependency: Challenge: Economic dependency on male family members constrains women's autonomy and puts them at a low decision-making power.
- Comprehensive sexual education programs, partnering with local clinics to provide easy access, and raising awareness campaigns regarding SRHR in the community.
- Contraception, family planning, and müş promoting safe and legal abortion services.
- Support service provision to survivors of GBV, including counseling and legal aid, with community education on prevention of violence against women for gender equality.
- Conduct sensitization and campaigns to raise awareness on mental health, reduction of stigma, and promotion of good mental health in the community.
- Counseling centers, training of mental health professionals with peer support groups
- Provide vocational-training programs for people with marketable skills that will enhance job employability.
- Provide entrepreneurship training skills and financial literacy accompanied by access to micro-finance and grants for people willing to start small businesses.
- Economic Empowerment by means of livelihood programs that allow women to generate their own income towards financial independence.
Dear Volunteers,
Are you passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of youth and women in Rwanda? Join Love Rwanda Initiative and use your unique skills in fundraising, graphic design, project management, and more to contribute to transformative programs in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Mental Health, and Livelihoods. As an online volunteer, you will have the opportunity to formulate campaigns and advise on different projects, design impactful campaign materials, and manage critical projects. Tanzania Development Trust (TDT) works in some of the poorest parts of Tanzania, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty by funding small projects that meet their essential needs.
It sponsors 40-50 small rural development projects p.a. in Tanzania, mainly in the areas of clean water, girls' education and small income generating activities. It also has 3-4 larger, longer-term projects. Its primary function is fundraising, although it provides general project management and business advice where appropriate.
Around half of its income comes from individual donors, and half from Trusts & Foundations. It helps villagers in Tanzania who lack the capacity and language skills to present their projects to international donors, conducting project appraisals and monitoring project outcomes on their behalf. The projects are implemented by the villagers themselves, or by small local contractors.
TDT is run entirely by volunteers (17 regular volunteers in the UK and 16 local representatives in Tanzania). It has no paid staff, premises or overheads, so 100% of all money raised goes directly to projects in Tanzania.
We are looking for additional Trustees who can help us to grow by identifying potential donors, increasing awareness of our activities, and strengthening our project selection and monitoring procedures.
We would like at least one of the new Trustees to help us with fund-raising by piloting more innovative and creative approaches. Experience of living or working in Tanzania is not essential, but to improve the Board’s racial diversity we would like at least one of the new Trustees to be of Tanzanian origin or have strong connections with East Africa.
The Trustees are all unpaid. Although their main job is the overall direction of the business, they can become involved in day-to-day operations if they so wish. We all work remotely, which helps us to engage with our local representatives in Tanzania in everything we do.
The work we do is immensely rewarding. You would be joining a close-knit organisation that is growing and adapting to meet the needs of a changing world, where helping poor people to help themselves is of paramount importance.

Reprieve is pleased to advertise for two Trustees to join our Board and provide the highest level of Governance. The Board meets four times a year (normally April, July, October and December).
About Reprieve
Reprieve is a UK charity founded in 1999. Reprieve uses strategic interventions to end the use of the death penalty globally, and to end extreme human rights abuses carried out in the name of “counterterrorism” or “national security”.
Reprieve works with the most disenfranchised people in society, as it is in their cases that human rights are most swiftly jettisoned and the rule of law is cast aside. Thus, Reprieve promotes and protects the rights of those facing the death penalty and those who are the victims of extreme human rights abuses carried out in the name of “counterterrorism” or “national security”, with a focus on arbitrary detention, torture, and extrajudicial executions.
Reprieve’s main office is in London, UK. Reprieve also supports full-time Fellows, who work as lawyers, investigators and campaigners in the countries in which we work. We work closely with a number of partner organisations in jurisdictions all over the world, who provide access to clients, expertise, knowledge and guidance on specific issues or regions. We work in cooperation with relevant government officials, individual lawyers and human rights defenders, as well as individual, corporate and foundation funders to further the cause of our shared goals.
About the roles
Our new Trustees will be passionate about our vision and mission and will be able to bring inclusive and knowledgeable insight to the Board and the Executive Directors. They will have a passion for seeking justice for the victims of extreme human rights abuses. They will support our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion at Reprieve and share our commitment to fighting against racism and advancing racial justice, both in our work and within Reprieve.
Trustee
We are seeking a new trustee with direct or indirect lived experience of some of the conditions and difficulties faced by beneficiaries of Reprieve’s work or other victims of human rights abuses. This could include long term or arbitrary detention or other human rights abuses, whether or not Reprieve would have been able to have been involved.
For full details please see the role description.
Trustee and Chair of the Development Committee
We are seeking a new trustee who would look to take on the Chair of our Development Committee when the current Chair retires in April 2025. You will be someone who has experience as a senior fundraising volunteer or who is well networked and happy to connect us with your contacts and make asks on behalf of Reprieve. Reprieve has a highly diverse funding base, built up over many years, and you would help support this by working with our Philanthropy and Events team to maximise support from individuals.
For full details please see the role description.
Full details and how to apply
This is a non-remunerated role but Reprieve will pay reasonable travel and other expenses. Trustees are appointed on a three year term, renewable once. The deadline for applications for each role is 19 August 2024.
Please see the role descriptions for full details and information on who to contact to discuss the roles.

Join the Board and help people living with dementia enjoy more active and fulfilled lives.
Dementia Adventure thinks differently about dementia. Taking a positive approach to risk-taking, we believe that with the right support, everyone living with dementia can enjoy the well-being benefits of nature and the great outdoors. We believe in what people can do, not what they can’t.
Our work is grounded in research, lived experience, and 15 years of delivering supported holidays around the UK for people with dementia and their family carers. In that time, we have also become a reputable training provider for healthcare and outdoor leisure professionals, specialising in developing dementia skills, nature-based activities, and multi-sensory approaches to care and inclusion.
In a year that has seen some exciting new partnerships develop, the launch of Green Letter Days, and our engaging ‘Today I will …’ social media campaign, this is an excellent time to join Dementia Adventure’s Board as we develop the next period of growth and strategic development. Chaired by Debbie Marshall, Managing Director of the Silver Marketing Association, our trustees bring knowledge and experience in travel, sustainability, healthcare management, law and finance from their respective sectors. We are looking for three more trustees to join them who would also be keen advocates for the cause and are well-networked in their fields.
The role will involve attending up to six meetings a year, all digitally accessible, but with the aim of meeting in person on two of those occasions in London and at our offices near Chelmsford. In addition to providing strategic oversight, support, and challenge to the organisation, which comprises 24 staff and over 120 volunteers, there will be opportunities to engage in various ways, with an average time commitment of three hours per month.
We will provide:
-
A full induction programme and access to training and development to fulfil the role
-
Opportunities to develop new skills
-
Opportunities to input into developing services that will improve the lives of people living with dementia
-
Opportunities to provide additional voluntary support, with specific training, on our supported holidays
-
Reimbursement of any out-of-pocket expenses
We welcome people of all backgrounds and sectors, whether with existing board experience or new to a trustee role, who bring fresh perspectives and diverse knowledge, skills, and experience. We particularly welcome expertise in fundraising, finance or dementia advocacy. You must be aged 18 or over to apply.
The closing date for applications is 4th August 2024, with interviews planned for the week commencing 12th August 2024. Please apply on Charity Job with your CV and a supporting letter explaining why you are a good fit for this role and passionate about our vision.

Bristol Hospitality Network works to end the destitution of asylum seekers and refugees in the UK. We are looking for Trustees who are passionate about social justice.
What will you be doing?
We want individuals who are passionate about social justice and believe in the right of displaced and persecuted peoples to seek asylum in the UK. Your sense of fairness and empathy is much more important than any professional background you have. In fact, if you are keen to learn and support our staff team in a particular area of our work, we are happy to support you in developing new skills and an understanding of the asylum system in the UK.
If you are new to being a Trustee, we will give you plenty of support and training and there are plenty of resources we can point you to too.
Our Trustees meet all together 4 times a year (either virtually or in person) for Trustees’ meetings, plus we have an annual general meeting every year.
Our Trustees also take part in sub-groups such as the Finance sub-group, and some take on a governance responsibility like Chair, Treasurer or Secretary, or support an area of work such as hosting or advice or communications etc.
What are we looking for?
Your skills, knowledge and attributes are valuable whatever your background — professional or otherwise. Let us know where your interests lie and what you feel you can bring of yourself to our team.
We do currently have vacancies for particular Trustee roles such as Company Secretary and we would particularly be thrilled if anyone wanted to support our corporate governance and fundraising workstreams.
What difference will you make?
We estimate there are 100 destitute asylum seekers living in Bristol, caught in the loopholes of the system – unable to work and unable to claim benefits. Without an income, these individuals can’t find accommodation. This is an opportunity for the Trustee to join an organisation which extends solidarity to people seeking asylum and experiencing destitution through accommodation and creative community involvement. By joining us as a Trustee, you will help BHN continue its work in benefit of all its members.
Before you apply
The TrusteeWorks Team at Reach Volunteering are supporting BHN with their Trustee recruitment.
Applications should be made via TrusteeWorks in the first instance.
To apply please send your CV/LinkedIn profile along with a supporting statement explaining why you are interested in the role, the skills and experience you will bring to the Board and what you would hope to get out of the role.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

As a collection tin volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting us to raise our profile and fundraise within your community.
You will look after the Magpas Air Ambulance collection tins within a designated area, replacing full tins and returning them to an agreed location. - Understand the work of Magpas Air Ambulance, having basic knowledge and enthusiasm for our service
- Wear your Magpas Air Ambulance ID badge, ensuring it's visible at all times
- Travel to your collection tins (on two or four wheels). Where motorised vehicles are used, you must hold a full UK driving license, have a road-worthy vehicle with up-to-date road tax, MOT certificate (where applicable) and fully comprehensive insurance.
- Establish the regularity of required tin collections in your area, keep a log of your activities and feedback to the Supporter Care Officer
- Proactively replace full collection tins as needed and deliver them to an agreed location within one working day of collection
- Place new tins in locations within your area, ensuring they are accurately labelled with the location and organisation's name
- Inform the Supporter Care Officer of any new tins placed or any changes, helping us to ensure records are accurate and kept up to date
- Follow all Magpas Air Ambulance policies and procedures, including reporting any accidents and incidents
- Recognise, respond to, and report any safeguarding issues or concerns
What to expect from us:
- Regular support and advice from our staff team

Howami addresses the growing mental health risks for young women, low menstrual literacy, and persistent period stigma. This report emphasizes the importance of education about menstruation and creating positive norms. Our innovation leverages advanced gaming technology for therapeutic outcomes, aiming to counteract the negative effects of social media by promoting embodiment and self-awareness.
Howami is an innovative mobile application designed to help young menstruating individuals engage with their menstrual cycle and emotions through the use of advanced game design technology, CGI visuals, and a fluid, gesture-controlled interface. Our app provides a safe, healthy, and non-exploitative platform tailored to the needs of young people.
Grant Writing Expert
Role Description: We currently have one of our founders on this within Howami. However we would love to invite someone onboard to support this process. Specific history in writing applications, and knowledge of the NHS would be an advantage. You would be working alongside Dan, who has already completed a few applications like 'Women in Innovation' with innovate UK, and 'Enterprising Women' with Set Squared, but there are some extremely exciting but very in-depth deadlines ahead we would be so grateful for help with.
Thank You so much for your time and helping birth this essential work in the world.
