Job description

We Need Your Help!

Demand for our support in Tower Hamlets and the surrounding areas is rising fast, and our programmes are growing — but we cannot scale, sustain, or secure our future without funding. To unlock the resources we need, we urgently need someone who can turn our mission, impact, and vision into compelling funding applications.

We need a leader who believes in opportunity, social justice, and the power of well‑crafted words to open doors.

Become Our Volunteer Grant Writer and Help Us Secure the Funding That Changes Lives

Unlock YOUR Potential supports NEET adults (18+) across East London to rebuild confidence, improve wellbeing, and move toward employment, education, or training. As a start‑up preparing for charity registration, we must secure funding to grow our programmes, strengthen our infrastructure, and reach more adults who need us.

We need someone who can help us tell our story in a way that funders cannot ignore.

This is your chance to shape the future of a movement by securing the resources that make it possible.

Your Impact

As our Grant Writer, you will be the person who helps us turn ideas into funded programmes. Your leadership will shape how we communicate our impact, how we present our work to funders, and how we build the financial foundation needed for long‑term sustainability.

You will help us:

  • Prepare strong, persuasive funding applications

  • Identify grants, trusts, and foundations aligned with our mission

  • Build the evidence base needed for charity registration

  • Translate our impact into compelling narratives and clear outcomes

  • Secure funding for our 12‑week programme, 1‑2‑1 coaching, wellbeing workshops, and mentoring

  • Strengthen our credibility with funders, partners, and stakeholders

Your work will directly determine how many adults we can support — and how far our mission can grow.

What You’ll Lead On

  • Grant Research: Identifying relevant funding opportunities from trusts, foundations, and local/national funders.

  • Application Writing: Preparing high‑quality, persuasive funding bids.

  • Case for Support: Helping craft our organisational story, mission, and impact narrative.

  • Budget Collaboration: Working with the team to develop clear, realistic budgets for applications.

  • Impact Evidence: Using data and stories (with support from the Impact & Evaluation Manager) to strengthen applications.

  • Funding Strategy: Helping shape our approach to short‑term and long‑term funding.

  • Reporting: Supporting the preparation of monitoring reports for successful grants.

This is a strategic and creative role — perfect for someone who loves writing, research, and turning ideas into funded reality.

What You Bring

You don’t need to have worked in a charity before — what matters most is clarity, creativity, and a passion for social impact.

You may be:

  • Experienced in grant writing, bid writing, fundraising, or persuasive writing

  • Skilled at turning complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives

  • Confident researching funders and aligning proposals with their priorities

  • Someone who understands the challenges faced by NEET adults or brings lived experience

  • A detail‑driven communicator who enjoys crafting strong, evidence‑based applications

Above all, you bring heart, precision, and a belief that funding can unlock opportunity.

What You Gain

  • A meaningful leadership role in a growing social impact start‑up

  • The chance to shape our funding strategy from the ground up

  • Real influence over how adults in Tower Hamlets and the surrounding areas access life‑changing support

  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and charity development

  • A legacy — your work will help build the financial foundation for years to come

This is an opportunity to secure the resources that make transformation possible.

If you’re ready to help us unlock funding for change, we’d love to hear from you.
