AOOW is the only vegan animal sanctuary in Cambodia working towards animal rights!

We need someone like you so we can start growing our team and protecting animals in Siem Reap.

We are looking for a hard-working, animal-loving assistant shelter caretaker to learn the ropes of how to take care of animals in a rescue shelter.

The Assistant will be trained by our head Shelter Caretaker in how to take care of the animals feeding, cleaning, and socializing, as well as other jobs around the shelter.

Taking care of animals is much more than feeding them! A clean shelter is ESSENTIAL to ensuring the health of our 100+ rescued cats and dogs.

The Assistant will also learn some basics about taking care of fully-rehabilitated animals who have lifelong health issues, such as paralysis and PTSD.

When we have enough funding, we will re-start our community outreach program for medical animal emergencies with local poverty-stricken families. We also plan to conduct vaccination and sterilization community projects that will help achieve our core mission - to prevent animal suffering!

Some daily tasks may include:

+ Walking and socializing with the dogs and cats
+ Assisting with veterinary trips
+ Routine animal care, medication administration, flea/tick prevention, etc.
+ Bandaging and caring for our paralyzed/special needs animals
+ Feeding and watering the animals
+ Cleaning the enclosures and basic sanctuary maintenance for proper health standards
+ Establishing shelter procedures, maintaining biosecurity processes
+ Community outreach for poverty-stricken Cambodian families
+ Feeding abandoned pagoda cats and dogs
+ Manage volunteers when they visit the shelter

This is an exciting opportunity to share your Governance and Compliance expertise whilst helping to promote kindness and prevent animal cruelty. You will be able to influence how we do things, and with your support, we will achieve so much more!

We are looking for someone with a Governance and Compliance background that could spare some time to volunteer with us as one of our trustees at our Tunbridge Wells & Maidstone Branch.

This role will give you the chance to influence how we care for and prevent cruelty to animals and drive the implementation of key initiatives.

As a minimum, trustees would normally be expected to attend a  committee meeting every other month lasting 2 hours either in person or virtually (can alternate). However, the commitment may vary depending on whether or not the trustee takes on additional duties.

Primary responsibilities of the Branch Trustee – Governance and Compliance

•  Take the lead on policy review, amendment and implementation and create a timetable to ensure Branch policies are reviewed at appropriate intervals.
•  Set out processes and work with senior staff and trustees to ensure policies are implemented and embedded throughout the Branch.
•  Use your experience and expertise to ensure the Branch is complying with its governing document and other regulatory requirements.
•  Provide technical governance knowledge and leadership and to keep abreast of any developments in the charity sector that are relevant to the Branch operations.
• Assist in setting the long term strategy of the Branch, ensuring the charity meets its objects and purpose.

We are working in partnership with The Salisbury Museum (a registered charity), located within the Cathedral Close at The King's House, a grade I listed building. The museum houses significant archaeological collections, including prehistoric material from Stonehenge; the Pitt Rivers’ Wessex collection; and a fine medieval collection including finds from Old Sarum, Clarendon Palace and the city itself. In addition, the museum has fascinating displays of costume and ceramics, and regular temporary exhibitions. The Salisbury Museum is also part of Wessex Museums, an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (NPO).

The Board is now seeking to appoint a new Chair of Trustees. The Chair will lead the Board, fostering an environment for collaboration, good decision-making and effective governance. We believe the most impactful boards are ones that benefit from individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and skill sets. The museum therefore welcomes interested applicants from all parts of the community and particularly those with a strong regional connection.

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate:

• Commitment to the purpose and ambition of The Salisbury Museum.
• Experience of working with or as part of a Board of Trustees.
• An understanding of fundraising in the charitable sector, and familiarity with the cultural landscape in Salisbury and/or region.
• Willingness and ability to engage and promote the interests of the museum in both the local and wider community.
• Willingness to be available to staff, volunteers and other trustees for advice and enquiries.

The Chair is expected to attend monthly Board meetings and other meetings at the museum (average one per month). They would also be invited to attend and represent the museum at partnership events, meetings and functions. The term for this role is three years with the option for reappointment for a further three years.

• To assist the Branch when developing new schemes, such as providing welfare assistance to those  low incomes, to ensure any new schemes are GDPR compliant.

Displaying items on the shop floor ensuring the items are rotated regularly to increase sales

Promoting awareness of the charity and the services that we provide

Strong customer service skills

A really keen eye for detail

How much time do I need to commit?

Make a difference – become an Academy Governor

You don’t have to be a parent or member of staff to be an academy governor – applications are appreciated from all with an interest in the local community. Academy governors come from all walks of life and specialist knowledge is not always needed. What IS essential is a desire to get involved in children’s education and make a difference to their lives.

We welcome applications from those with educational, health & safety and safeguarding experience, but academy governors are all volunteers and training and support is provided. EPIC Restart is a charity founded in lived experience of gambling harm, delivering transformational programmes that change lives.

Our small team works closely with people in recovery, the National Gambling Support Network and expert delivery partners to pioneer innovative programmes that are empowering people across the UK to rebuild their lives after gambling harm. We also build crucial awareness of recovery support pathways and work to break down the stigma around gambling addiction.

We are responding to a significant gap in the availability of longer-term recovery support, and we are respected for our empowering approach that has lived experience at its heart. Our EPIC Restart Community is a powerful lived experience online network offering inspiration, learning and connection, and our intensive support programmes, Restarting Lives and Woman. Empowered, provide life-changing events, personal development opportunities and person-centred recovery coaching.

Our small team has directly supported over 600 individuals since we launched our pilot programme in May 2021, and we have reached over 20,000 more people through our online and outreach activities. We have recently embarked on a new two-year strategy, aiming to become a Centre for Excellence for gambling harms recovery, delivering transformational programmes with measurable, proven impact as well as influencing stakeholders and policymakers to increase the support available to those recovering from gambling harm.

Our founding Chair, Robert White, is stepping down after three and a half successful years. EPIC Restart is now seeking a new Chair to lead the Foundation into the next exciting phase of development and growth. Youth Leader - Stoke All Services Unit

Who we are:

We are the charity that steps forward in the moments that matter, to save lives and keep communities safe. We are a market leader in the provision of workplace training, first aid supplies and event and ambulance services. And we're currently looking for Youth Leaders to join our Stoke All Services Unit so we can grow and expand our youth offering!

What are we looking for:

We are looking for an organised leader with an interest in youth work, first aid and community development. 

What would you be doing as a volunteer?

St John Ambulance needs YOU! We have amazing cadet units in Staffordshire, Shropshire & Wolverhampton that are ready to expand and open to more young people in our area and we need volunteers like you!

Being a youth leader is an amazing opportunity for adults aged 18+ to teach valuable lifesaving skills to young people aged 10 – 17 in your area! Volunteering at least two hours per week could make a massive difference to these cadets now and have a real impact on your community.

But it's not all about what you'll give - you will learn a lot too!

As the cadets develop, so will you. You’ll gain communication, listening and presentation skills and grow in confidence. You’ll also have the chance to learn First Aid and take on more advanced roles with training, all while being fully supported by the rest of your team.

Under your leadership, young volunteers will develop their potential, they will learn vital first-aid skills that they can deliver at events and activities around the community. They will gain confidence, make friends and engage in community and social change.
