We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Volunteer for the Plymouth and Tamar Group. As our Fundraising Volunteer you’ll support your Fundraising Group Coordinator to organise local fundraising activities and events throughout the year.

In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills. Most importantly you’ll inspire your local community to raise funds that help make sure no one has to face MS alone.

Time Commitment

Out There is a small charity based in Greater Manchester that supports families and children impacted by the imprisonment of a loved one. We provide long term emotional and practical support to 170 families a year. As well as our core work we operate a Charity Hub where we work in partnership with other charities, offering support to other mebers of the community. We are now looking to complement our committed Trustee Board with Trustees with a background in Finance or Management/Governance. Help us to continue our work to support families

About The Role

We're looking for someone to help with the vital work of caring for a wide variety of birds, along with their varied wetland habitats. It's a core part of how we restore wetlands and unlock their power. 

The role includes:

• Learning about best practice in bio-security and animal care, keeping up our high standards
• Helping with bird feeding, bird observation tasks, helping with bird catches and movements, and checking the collection is safe and secure.
• Helping out with maintenance and cleaning of exhibits and collection facilities: from vegetation clearing, to repairing pond edging and cobbling works, cleaning nest boxes and winter hides, and painting and maintaining them.
• Keeping up to date with WWT news and talking to visitors about events and activities that might spark their interest.
• Potentially presenting talks to the public (we'll make sure you have the training you need if you want to do this).  

Volunteers are an essential part of the WWT team. You'll get a warm welcome, including information on training, equipment and anything else you need. 

About You

If you want to make a real contribution to WWT's work, in an inspiring environment, this might be the role for you. You'll learn new, transferable skills and be part of a friendly and dedicated team. 

A can-do attitude and willingness to get involved in all weathers are a must. This can be a physically demanding role - you'll be out and about in all weathers.

Having experience in bird keeping and welfare and some practical habitat management would be helpful. The team works closely together, but the willingness to work under your initiative is important. Having, or being happy to develop, the confidence to engage our visitors with the work of WWT is also a key part of this role.

We are looking to recruit a Health and Safety Volunteer for the Gwynedd/Ynys Mon Group. As a Health and Safety Volunteer you’ll make sure all local group members are aware of their health and safety responsibilities. You’ll help them understand and follow guidelines and procedures to coordinate safe activities.The Gwynedd/Ynys Mon group extends from Holyhead to Dolgellau and covers all areas in-between.

In this role you’ll gain knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, as well as develop your organisation, admin and communication skills. Most importantly you’ll help your local group make sure all their activities are safe for every member of your local MS community.

Victim Support is an independent charity. We are dedicated to supporting people affected by crime and traumatic incidents in England and Wales, and we put them at the heart of our organisation. Our support and campaigns are informed and shaped by them and their experiences.
We provide specialist services to help people manage after crime and to empower them to ensure their voices are heard individually and collectively at a local and national level.
Our services help people affected by all types of crime and we provide free confidential support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for people affected by crime and traumatic events — regardless of whether they have reported the crime to the police or when it occurred.
Most of our services are delivered locally through skilled staff and volunteers who are deeply rooted in their communities. We adapt our services to meet local need and pride ourselves on being responsive to local demands. The Role

The role of the Chair is, in addition to sitting as a trustee, to provide leadership and direction to the Charity’s Board, guiding and supporting Trustees in fulfilling their responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation. This includes strategic planning; risk/opportunity management; ensuring that the Board operates within its charitable objectives; adhering to the Articles of Association; and ensuring the sound financial health of the charity, with systems in place to ensure financial accountability.

Person specification

• Have a strong commitment to the work of VS.
• Good, independent judgement.
• Support relationships between Board and the Chief Executive and senior leadership team, including mentoring and constructive challenge.
• An ability to think creatively.
• A willingness to speak your mind, but listen with respect to the views of others.
• Our Chair will need to:
• Lead the Board of Directors to ensure that Victim Support is an effective charity that delivers support for victims and brings change through their voice.
• Chair meetings effectively, promoting a transparent and open culture while ensuring that clear decisions are reached and appropriately recorded.
• Meet regularly with the CEO and support, motivate and constructively challenge them including leading their annual performance appraisal.
• Have a sound understanding of the obligations of acting as a Trustee.
• Review board structures, skills and committees.
• Act as ambassador for the cause and the Charity, representing the charity (where appropriate) at key meetings and events.
• Be able to drive awareness of the charity to relevant stakeholders, including the public, relevant government departments and the wider victim support sector.
